Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | Settle for Meh: Megyn Kelly Leaving FoxNews for... NBC, Says NYTShe's receiving an "undisclosed amount." She'll have a "triple role," doing some daytime news (like the View? or will she be on MSNBC?), some Sunday night type magazine show, and will also be part of NBC's super-amazing live political coverage. Good riddance to bad rubbish. More: She says she wanted a better work-life balance or something. Her statement on FaceBook:ver a dozen years ago I started at Fox News in a job that would change my life. Now, I have decided to end my time at FNC, incredibly enriched for the experiences I've had. I have agreed to join NBC News, where I will be launching a new daytime show Monday through Friday, along with a Sunday evening news magazine program. I will also participate in NBC's breaking news coverage and its political and special events coverage. While I will greatly miss my colleagues at Fox, I am delighted to be joining the NBC News family and taking on a new challenge. I remain deeply grateful to Fox News, to Rupert, Lachlan and James Murdoch, and especially to all of the FNC viewers, who have taught me so much about what really matters. More to come soon. This makes no sense, I know, but for some reason I keep thinking of Sweet Dee's explanation of a "yestergay" on Always Sunny. (CONTENT WARNING.) It seems the GOP is incapable of planning, communication and timing. Remember the very first thing they did in 2014, the very first thing, was to increase the amount of money wall street can contribute to campaigns. So the very first thing out of the gates is shit canning an ethics panel? The idea was to kill the stupid ethics panel before the Democrats on the panel had a chance to abuse it and investigate Trump on every single thing he did or said. So, now, the Democrats on the ethics panel cannot be stopped from doing so. Republicans can never get rid of the panel in the midst of the fake investigations because it will look bad, which is exactly what they were trying to avoid by shutting down the panel before the Democrats' antics began. Turns out Springsteen also thought that the election of Reagan was 'pretty frightening'
http://tinyurl.com/hahvny4 Why are they all so afraid of everything ? as in 'literally shaking' I remember Bruce was really worried that Reagan was going to start a war in Nicaragua. In the '80's he put out a video for his cover of Edwin Starr's "War" where in the intro he said, "they are going to be looking at you..." (presumably for the draft.) I don't think she'll be successful. Part of the reason she was a 'rising star' at Fox was because a lot of people watch Fox...hard NOT to succeed in a time slot after O'Reilly on the most watched cable network, period (at least for 2016).
I never saw the appeal myself. Her schtick is to raise her voice to a higher monotone to be 'tough' on an interviewee. She'll just be one of dozens now to do that on broadcast TV. ----------------- Nope, its erotica. Porn is explicitly doing sex acts. A female wearing a low cut garment, or a tight fitting garment is not porn. A beautiful female making eyes at you is attempting to arouse desire. That's not porn, it is attempting to arouse your interest by making signs that she is willing. If you are going to claim that attempting to attract the interest of men then you are claiming that a friendly smile is porn, and the next step is locking your females up, requiring them to have a male escort when outside the home, and requiring them to wear the niqab (face veil and black birqua) Posted by: Floyde Farthengton at January 03, 2017 01:28 PM (pVneD) 360

Posted by: Christopher R Taylor at January 03, 2017 01:29 PM (39g3+) Doesn't this argument come up here every other week? Look, you can deny the "artistic" element of nudity, but that's the basic standard, used fairly universally. Does it have "artistic" value, beyond the desire to entice? If so... not pornography. If you insist on calling it pornography, then the word ceases to carry meaning beyond your narrow definitions, which doesn't reflect on anybody but you. Which is fine. Just know that you aren't going to get very far discussing it with other people. Posted by: BurtTC at January 03, 2017 01:33 PM (TOk1P) 405
Ok, someone help me out here.
My understanding is the House Ethics Panel is an "independent' group that monitors the House for ethics violations, accepts reports and information regarding potential ethics violations and recommends action and provides information on ethics investigation to the public. And today, as one of it's first priorities, the House GOP leadership wanted to remove this panels independence and put it's duties back into a House committee , giving the House oversight over itself. So Trump points out that this should be way down the list of import and they back off. I'm not sure why there were a bunch of posters earlier who thought removing this panel(created in the wake of the Jack Abramoff scandal) was a good idea. http://www.politico.com/story/2017/01/house-ethics-panel-jack-abramoff-233126 Posted by: Jen at January 03, 2017 01:33 PM (a2Sj8) 406

I'm not sure why there were a bunch of posters earlier who thought removing this panel(created in the wake of the Jack Abramoff scandal) was a good idea. http://www.politico.com/story/2017/01/house-ethics-panel-jack-abramoff-233126 Posted by: Jen Because the Jack Abramoff scandal was a load of political bullshit. He broke the law and the Law was able to handle it. Jon Corzine, Democrat, did far worse than Jack Abramoff and got away with it. They didn't investigate Jon Corzine. But Democrats somehow made Jack Abramoff a huge Republican political scandal. The last thing Democrats need is another panel empowering them to do more Jack Abramoff scandals. Before a new Congress is sat, they meet to establish the rules that the new Congress will be governed by. This has only been going on forever. This is what happened last night. One, just one, of the things they decided to get rid of was a Pelosi era separate and unaccountable "ethics" group that answered to nobody and had no rules for investigations and was even able to accept anonymous tips. They wasted about 2 years investigating Rep Blake Farnthold for a bogus sexual harassment claim which was tossed because, get this, it was bogus. But the damage was out there for 2 years. Bigger question is why would anyone who claims to support due process and fair legal proceedings support a star chamber group like this that was founded to root out the "Republican Culture of Corruption"? Elizabeth comes from a generation that had little real contact with Americans. Being allies in World War II was something of an adjustment for both sides. A US Army colonel, asked about the attitude of the British, replied, "They look at us the way we'd look at a rich n****r."

LOL. How the hell did I miss that one. Must have been a kind of recent one. It's one of the best eps. It's season 8, "The Gang Recycles Their Trash." The premise is they're starting their own garbage collection company. If that sounds familiar, it's because the whole episode consists of rehashed/revisited/redone old jokes and premises (and commentary about the fact that they're just doing their old jokes again). >>They have had the house since 2014, this panel has been around for 8 years. So what? They would have gotten criticized by the left then too. The only difference is the President criticizing them wouldn't have been a Republican. Trump has plenty of his own issues to deal with that in case people have missed it have been the topic on cable channels and lefty websites since the election. His response has been basically to tell people to fuck off. So why did he need to weigh in on this issue which he likely knows almost nothing about and which doesn't affect him? It was dumb. If he had said nothing this was a one day issue. He's the President not a dictator. He should worry about his own responsibilities for now and let the Congress get their own shit together. Re: the Charles skipping the King of England gig. I had read sometime ago that there was a plan afoot that Charles would abdicate and then William would become King.
That plan became more plausible when he and Diana divorced and the British public faulted him for it and Charles was not on Elizabeth's favorite son list anymore. However, as I read more recent accounts , the Queen is now not in favor and wants continuity in the monarchy and even though Charles is now the oldest King in waiting ever, it would be an extreme longshot for him to give the throne to William. Polls in GB show the Brits are split on who should be the next king. Course, the polls said Brexit wouldn't happen either. Posted by: Jen at January 03, 2017 02:06 PM (a2Sj8) 596

I happened to be reading last night about the founding of the current English dynasty. The first was George I who was duke or something of Hanover before being elevated to the throne. When Queen Anne died, there were many, many people closer to the succession than George but Parliament had passed a law that no one who was a Papist, or married to a Papist, could inherit the throne so it went to non-English-speaking George to keep the Catholics out. Maybe they need a similar law regarding Muslims.

He was also one of the best photographers of his generation, but (according to her) his truly good work was overshadowed by the notoriety of his more outre, 'transgressive' pieces. Scam artists can be very persuasive. Not to everyone, but they can identify and pitch a mark so smoothly it's like hypnosis. I could add some snark, but I've already pissed off too many people. Posted by: Floyde Farthengton at January 03, 2017 02:08 PM (pVneD From the recent documentaries coming out, it had been claimed that hypnosis techniques are used early and often. They are predators and people should not lose sight of that omg with the fact it is almost impossible to leave without hassive harm being done to you and your loved ones. I think my calling the Queen "anti-American" is not quite what I wanted to convey.
I'll try again, because to me "anti-American" suggests "opposed to U.S. policies," among other things. There's no evidence of that. It might be more accurate to say, "she doesn't care for Americans." Perhaps that is close to just being a snob, as another poster suggested. But... it's targeted snobbery. I caught some of that (not from the Queen!) from some Brits when I was in Europe. Brits traveling in France & Spain---- not Brits back in blighty itself. Posted by: mnw at January 03, 2017 02:18 PM (PKZTQ) 633
>> I have no sympathy for anybody dumb enough to
>> involved with something like Scientology, Oops. Let's try that again. Back in high school and the first couple years of college I'd go hang around my brother's house in distant, sun-bleached lands (okay, Davis CA) and swim and bike a lot. And one year (senior year in high school) a cute early-twenties blonde (she had a Saab 96 which made her a goddess) was house-sitting a couple places around the cul-de-sac. And she was friendly, and I behaved like a 17-year-old male, and she took me to a couple meetings, and...fortunately, I shook it off. Posted by: JEM at January 03, 2017 02:19 PM (TppKb) 634

"he cynical part of me wonders if Megyn Kelly's feud with Trump was deliberately orchestrated to make her more acceptable to the Big Three networks."
I think the Hillary crime syndicate was behind the feud with the idea of pushing out Ailes using the MeAgain tool. Book was written before MeAgain even knew she would be the author or what was in it. Any man she might have had a private conversation with could have been targeted. Bet this is common knowledge in her industry. Like Babe Ruth catching STD all the time and FDR not being able to walk. People are born wanting to believe in something. Atheists are simply good at resisting that desire. In one of the last episodes Leah said something that really affected my view of 'the idiots who believe this Scientology stuff'. "You didn't just steal their lives , you stole their FAITH." Posted by: JEM at January 03, 2017 02:19 PM (TppKb) When I 20 while I was waiting for a friend I wandered into a Scientology outpost. They gave me the spiel, and then had me hold the tin cans to check my "clear" status. Uh oh, they said. It was take a lot of time and money to get me clear. Yessir. But as a STEM major, I need an ohmmeter when I saw one, so I licked my fingers, grabbed the tin cans again, and chirped, "Looks like I just saved myself a buttload of money!" Graham Greene was the real McCoy: a leftist politically, albeit a Catholic lefty. Greene was definitely anti-American, but unlike the Queen, there isn't any evidence(that I know of) to suggest that he preferred not to be around Americans. He liked California (back in the 50s), and his American Hollywood pals. It's impossible to read The Ugly American, I submit, & avoid the obvious conclusion that he was anti-American. "Knew a couple guys who owned a custom woodworking place that was waaaay into"
People are all over the place. If you believe the many-worlds (multiverse) theories then you get a different version of a person every time you meet them after an absence. Heinlein's "Unpleasant Profession of Johnathan Hogg" where two main characters handcuff themselves to each other every night could be a nod toward this theory. Otherwise it is one of the more surprising things in a Heinlein story. Posted by: Ok at January 03, 2017 02:30 PM (K2SnJ) 653

One more talking head who thinks her opinion is more important than everybody else's cause she's on TV. She will have little impact at NBC. The networks keep trying to make stars out of their talking heads instead of spending money on actual reporters.

Part of the agreement was a stripper pole behind her special see through plexiglass desk. Plus her stool for her feets.
