Local News Outlet: We Can Find No Record to Support Elector College "Hero" Chris Suprun's Claim That He Was a First Responder on 9/11

You know what I hate most about politics, apart from everything?

The fact that it attracts so many Messiah-complexed narcissists.

According to local Dallas ABC affiliate WFAA -- which, checking for #FakeNews here, does at least appear to be real news station -- Chris Suprun has been telling his story of being a 9/11 first responder for years.

They say they cannot find any evidence to support this claim, and a fair amount of evidence to refute it.

Including the very telling fact that the Manassas Park Fire Department -- at which he would have had the opportunity to respond to the Pentagon attack on September 11, 2000 -- did not hire him as a firefighter until October 10, 2001.

DALLAS - The Republican elector who has gotten national attention for refusing to vote for Donald Trump at the Electoral College on Dec. 19 was apparently not a first responder on September 11, 2001 as he has stated for years and has a questionable career history, according to an investigation by WFAA.
Chris Suprun, 42, portrays himself as a heroic firefighter who was among the first on the scene after the third plane flew into the Pentagon on 9/11.
In a heavily-publicized editorial this month for the New York Times, Suprun stated that as a member of the Electoral College he will not cast his ballot for Trump because the president-elect "shows daily he is not qualified for the office."
Suprun, a Dallas resident for more than a decade, even used his resume to establish credibility in the Times piece, writing in the second paragraph: "Fifteen years ago, as a firefighter, I was part of the response to the Sept. 11 attacks against our nation."
He has founded a nonprofit called Never Forget and state records show he is a licensed paramedic -- but much of the rest of resume, publicly available on LinkedIn, is questionable.
In addition, on at least two occasions over the last couple years at crowded Major League Baseball games, Suprun has been introduced as a 9/11 veteran before throwing out first pitches.
"He claimed to be a first responder with the Manassas Park [Virginia] Fire Department on September 11, 2001 and personally told us stories 'I was fighting fire that day at the Pentagon.' No, I was on a medic unit that day at the Pentagon and you make a phone call to Manassas Park and you find out that he wasn't even employed there until October 2001," said a first responder who knows Suprun and only agreed to speak about him if his identity was concealed.
The City of Manassas Park confirmed to WFAA that it hired Suprun on October 10, 2001, one month after the 9/11 attacks.
The fire chief there added that his department never even responded to the Pentagon or any of the 9/11 sites.
"It's no different than stolen valor for the military; dressing up and saying 'Hey, I earned a Purple Heart' when you weren't even in combat.' There's a big difference between shopping at Old Navy and being a Navy SEAL," said the first responder who knows him.
But Suprun's resume raises even more questions.

The article says that when the reporter attempted to ask Suprun's two public relations firms about these questions, they were only told something like "Chris' schedule is jam-packed," which is not what most people would credit as an answer.

I'll be damn ... got home early today, and ended up talking to the wife about people's Hero Worship before she went out on errands and I got on here and started popping tops. And here you put up something along those very same lines.

I don't trust Heroes. Instantly distrust 'em, as a matter of fact. But I know ... I'm in the minority.

And I truly believe ... and I've tried to express this general thought several times here over the few years I've been around under a couple different nics ... that this thing where most people seem to need a Hero - then defend that same Hero to the hilt regardless of the truth - is a pretty damned good portion of why we find ourselves in our current shitty state.

I don't think it will change. I think people will just keep building their favorite Heroes bigger and bigger means to fuck up with ... until finally the means are big enough to fuck up everything.

Then ... if we're lucky ... those that are left will just start building Smaller Things for Lesser Heroes to fuck up with. And the circle will start all over again.

234 There was no need for Mananas Park OR Dale City on 9/11 itself. The Pentagon has a fire team, the airport was right there, and Arlington Station 5 is five minutes from the Pentagon, not to mention the other nine stations in Arlington. They'd pull from Alexandria when needed too. The only way the further out departments might be involved is for fill ins at stations that actually went to the Pentagon.
