Lena Dunham Posts Selfie of Herself on the Dumper, Then Deletes In Embarrassment

Sometimes a gal just has to "shout her visual influence," whatever the hell that could possibly mean.

No seriously -- what does that mean? Any thoughts?

Oh, she also recently went on a spirit quest in Arizona wilderness to seek the "guidance" of the rocks after the emotional rape of the Trump victory.

PS, I've been up for a while. Just had trouble finding any good first post. Like, an easy one. A slumpbreaker. Because I have six really good articles to post about "Fake News," but that's going to take a lot of editing and synthesis. So I'm posting this terrible, terrible item while I procrastinate on that.

I bet that when he does finally leave her she will discover that the assets he cares about really aren't as comingled as she believed. She is obviously mentally unstable and her morals and desires are vile, but there is a part of her still that wants to be loved, to be accepted, and (face it) to be married and committed forever. Even with everything she does to undermine that, it's pitiable that she is so desperately seeking an unconditional acceptance that she is not going to find.

Sure is a shame that they still can't get married, what with their principled stand on gay marriage and all.

53 Well, I got willowed, so here's my thought again:

In 2016, a supposed actress has a photograph taken of her on the toilet (a "shock the normal" act that Zappa trotted out decades ago) and we are supposed to accept that this is some sort of self-expression that should be applauded.

Yet in 1935 - a mere 81 years ago - Loretta Young had to seclude herself in England because the news that she, an unwed mother, was carrying a child would have doomed her Hollywood career and rendered her an object of perpetual scorn.

No seriously -- what does that mean? Any thoughts?

Lena Dunham thinks she's hot. And by "hot", I mean Kate Upton/Victoria's Secret hot. She seriously believes this. And therefore, if you don't also think this, if you are not sexually attracted to her, there is something wrong with YOU.

So Lena believes she radiates waves of sexual attractiveness, so much so that all will love her and despair. This is what she means by "visual influence".

Yeah, I understand complaints about Trump, and concerns about him but the one I don't get particularly from the left is how crass and crude he is. That he's somehow damaging the public discourse and culture by his very existence. This, from people who celebrate Lena Dunham, run Castro Street faires, get interviews from a woman who bathes in froot loops on video, etc.

You know who made culture crass? Bill Clinton, starting with his MTV interview and the staged question about his underwear. That's where it began, with cigars and blow jobs and sleaze from day one in his life as a rapist and serial sexual harasser.

At the deepest level, she hates herself. She doesn't like her looks, her personality, her self or anything around her. Ordinary people affected like that can stop showering, or wear dirty clothes or just turn into fat slobs, foregoing any real attempt to look halfway acceptable - as even fat and ugly people can do, with a little effort.

She doesn't love herself and wants someone to love her without restrictions. But, at the same time, she wouldn't believe you even if you told her you loved her, because her self___ is so corroded that an expression of true love is considered to be a nasty, cynical, sarcastic joke.

I can attest to being quite familiar with the pathology.

Think it's closer to this - RS McCain's early assessment of Lena Dunham:

"She can never manage to recover from some deep psychic wound,a sort
of juvenile ego-trauma that left her with such a profoundly damaged
personality that she spends the rest ofher life trying to get revenge
against the world for bad things that happened to her years ago.

Anyway, if you know somebody like Lena Dunham, you understand what she's doing: "I'm fat and ugly and unpopular, but
maybe if I add 'cruel' and 'obnoxious' to the list, I can pretend like
people who don't like me are intimidated by my intelligence and courage."
This isn't really an effective compensation, but it provides her an
excuse --- a rationalization, a defense mechanism --- she can alternately
cling to as a crutch or wield as a weapon, harming others without
actually helping herself. The damage is never healed, because her inner
feelings of worthlessness are so intense, she scorns as contemptible
anyone who wants to help her: "If you like me, there must be something
wrong with you."

If I know leftists (and I think I do know some), I have a feeling that they tend to think "well, of course some times our side editorializes a little, and doesn't necessarily tell the whole story, but at least we don't just completely make up facts." The Zimmerman 911 call I don't think falls into the "fake news" category for them. It was "unfortunate editing" or whatever, but Zimmerman and the fact that he made a 911 call itself were legitimate news topics.

What has she done to inspire such love? For all I know, she might be nice in person. But all I've seen and read of her makes her look like a horribly self-centered baby. And while she wouldn't be bad looking with some effort (and she can surely afford the best hair stylists, makeup artists, clothes, and personal trainers), she purposely makes herself unattractive. It's like if she can't be a great beauty - and few women can - she's going to spite the world by looking nasty and unsexy.

Trump has saved or created over 50,000 jobs, filled much of his Cabinet and is traveling the country holding rallies.

It's going to be hilarious as the political media has to spend so much time in the fly-over states the next four years--instead of only every 4 years as they're used to.

And at every stop--Trump calls out and mocks them and encourages the crowd to join in.

The stress will break them. These fuckers are going to look about as well as a rat that's lived on a randomly electrified floor for weeks.

279 The left had a big strategy meeting after Trump won and decided to go "all in" with their latest meme: "Fake news." it's funny because the meme itself is fake news, but that's not the point. The point is that the meme has failed. I know all sorts of people at all sorts of points on the leftism spectrum, and I an tell how far any meme have made inroads into mainstream consciousness by noting how far up the spectrum it goes in my array of friends, family and acquaintances. And fake news? It has barely even made it halfway up the leftism spectrum, much less the full mainstream spectrum. Yes, the hardcore activists are fuming about fake news, and the non-involved but still reliably-liberal types have mostly "heard about it," but don't really understand what it is. And the default/senior/low-info lefties still haven't even heard of the meme "fake news."

This is a spectacular failure for an "all-in meme." When you go all in, you need for it to be society-wide, a total success indoctrination-wise. This attempt flopped, frankly. And even most of the hardcore types STILL don't fully understand what is meant by "fake news," because the definition keeps shifting (as is part of the strategy, of course, but it has been mishandled).

All in all, I chalk up the "fake news" kerfuffle as a win for us.

Well, it's a vicious circle - if you really loved me, you'd see past the ugliness to the real me who wants to be loved. But you ignore me and laugh at me, so why should I even bother to look presentable when you're going to treat me as a walking joke anyway? But why won't you love me?

298 I want examples that they can't weasel their way out of.

There is no such thing. But you can avalanche them into admitting some things.

For example, a leftist announced on Twitter that Trump is the most narcissistic president in history, nay the most narcissistic human that has ever lived.

I know, I know, stay with me here.

So I responded Obama was plainly far more narcissistic, which he denied: no way is he in any way so!!!

I posted the "selfie" picture of Obama standing in front of a mirror he did for his white house portrait.

Excuse given

Then I proceeded to post 15 different quotes and images, including several analyses of Obama's sociopathic narcissism by actual psychologists, and each time the excuses got weaker and weaker, until finally he admitted that yes, Obama was a narcissist but not as bad as Trump!

And that's as close as you get to victory with a leftist. Because even if they admit you're right? Within hours they're back where they started as if you never said a thing.

325 So, what do we all think should be the fallout from #Recount2016?

Here's what I'm thinking...

1) WI, MI and (to the extent possible) PA should launch investigations as to why the vote counts in their major cities, for some reason, cannot be reconciled
2) Sessions-led DOJ should launch investigations into "possible vote fraud" using as much of JillyBean's laughable rationales as possible - leave no stuffed ballot-box unopened
3) Push for national standards for federal elections (Feds can't do anything about state elections), such as
3a) No ID, no vote, no exceptions
3b) EVERYONE VOTES ON THE SAME FVCKING DAY
3c) Paper. Ballots. ONLY.
3d) Federal monitors for any places identified as "problematic" during the FBI's investigation

Just thinking out loud here, though. But clearly the proggies should pay a steep price for this idiotic effort to deligitimize Trump's victory in these 3 rust-belt states.

Clicked over to CNN this morning for about two minutes. Alyson was interviewing David Gregory of NBC about the Carrier Union Head who claims Trump was lying to workers about getting their jobs back. I guess he was referring to the 1100 number originally posted when Trump first heard that Carrier was moving.
We all know that Carrier has built a factory in Mexico and around 500 jobs are still moving there, it's something like 750-850 that are staying in Indiana. This has been reported by all the different media, and Trump himself described his conversations with the Carrier CEO.

Gregory was repeating the Union Head lie and was agreeing, saying that this is what happens when, wait for it , the Government gets into business and tells them how to hire, where to locate, etc.
Completely oblivious to what is coming out of his mouth. The entire point of Trumps' conversation with Carrier was his assertion that the gov. is going to reduce it's footprint on companies, along with tax incentives and reduction in regulations. Gregory then went on to say that Trump did this without knowing ANYTHING about Carrier, how they do business, how the inner workings of the company and it's workers are arranged.

Whoever was sitting with Alyson was chiming in that Trump was picking winners and losers by paying Carrier to stay.

It was amazing. I couldn't stand more than 2 minuets and turned it off.

Is it that the newsfaces don't want to do the struggle-sessions themselves or are worried about singled out as one of the perpetrators, or is it some loss in direction and imagination by the people directing it?

There was no apparent failure in the "no WMD's" meme in the face of Kurdish gassings and the Marines guarding Iraqi chemical weapons precursors dumps, I have confusion as to what the failure is here.

371 Here is one (amateur webzine) Slate writer's opinion of what does and doesn't count as "Fake news".

https://twitter.com/jacobwe/status/806551916817870849

Jacob Weisberg @jacobwe

Biased news isn't fake news. Sloppy reporting isn't fake news. Fake news is made up with an intention to deceive.

SO, by this metric:

-> Rolling Stone's UVA rape story? Sloppy reporting, but not fake news.
-> Ben Rhodes using accommodating media partners to spread the party line about the Iran Deal? Biased news, but not fake news
-> The unquestioned regurgitation of "If you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor" and other Obamacare related bullcrap? Sloppy, biased reporting, but not fake news.

372 >>I, on the other hand, see "them" as Orcs, never resting, always attacking, seeking out the weak spot, always moving forward...

Oh, I agree they will never stop trying. But the world has changed dramatically in the last 20 years.

It used to be we all got our news from the same sources, the mainstream media. And as we are discovering to an every increasing degree almost on a daily basis, they are hopelessly corrupt and biased. Thus the fake news bullshit and people like Megan Kelly whining how dangerous it is that people no longer listen to or trust traditional media.

Control starts with control of the message. The most important agency to Big Brother was always Minitru. Orwell was a committed socialist and he knew this well. And they've lost it.

Nothing more dangerous to tyranny than an informed populace.

I don't know as a win, but its not a win for them, and they need it badly. The legacy media is on the ropes, and Trump is beating them with both fists. They are a dying medium and know it. They need this to recover from the rep and status blow they took election night.

And its not working.

I don't call that a win for us; we need a news media. If this fails its not like they're going to go "well okay then, I guess we should straighten up our act and cut ties with the Democratic Party" or something.

394 Zombie, where do you think the failure is?

Posted by: Kindltot

The failure is part of the historical trend that got Trump elected in the first place!

The institution of "journalism" spent 300 years building up a vast storehouse of "credibility," and then the Left bum-rished the industry and started using that credibility to promulgate leftist ideology. The "public" believed it, like rubes, because they assumed that the concept of "journalism" had credibility and was morally impeachable.

But when you coast on and abuse other people's accumulated credibility, it can't go on forever -- eventually you use it up. And I think "what went wrong" in 2016 for the left is that they finally used up their last drop of credibility and suddenly over 50% of the country no longer believes anything the left or the media says anymore.

528 No, not at all. I just think it's a waste of time.

The left in Congress is already freaking out and promising to do whatever they can to stop Pruitt's nomination. This appears to be the hill they want to die on. Whether they can or not remains an open question.

But clearly meeting with Gore and DiCaprio bought exactly zero goodwill with Congress so I don't see it as being useful at all.

Posted by: JackStraw at December 08, 2016 01:47 PM (/tuJf)

I have to respectfully disagree. I think Trump is using a very effective management style, viz., surround yourself with good people whose judgment you trust, delegate to them, and devote yourself to setting broad directions and pressing the flesh, in essence being the public face of the outfit. Focus on the Big Picture, leave it to your subordinates to make it happen.

Can you imagine Trump doing his Jimmy Carter impression, and drawing up the schedule for the White House tennis courts? That's the extreme opposite management style, and you saw how that worked out.

I put that into a Golden Scalp Weasel. You let people talk, you let them get their complaint off their chest. They see you listening and even if they learn you do not agree they go away feeling better. They got their hearing, and for most people that's enough satisfaction. Sure, there will be some persistent nutters, but the vast majority just want someone to hear them out, and they perceive you as being fair to them.

I take complaint calls at the office and I have learned that just doing that is really the key point.

Let's see how it works out. Successful management means you bring people to your view through leadership. If the left comes around, I will agree it's successful. If they remain in their current position and fight against this, I see no success at all.

And let's not forget, Ivanka is a very big AGW supporter and Trump leans on her heavily, perhaps as much as any of his advisors. The meeting with Gore was actually a meeting with her that Trump decided to sit in on. I still think this is more about appeasing her than anything else.

It's rather trivial. This isn't business, it's government and not everything that works in business works in government when it comes to management style.

I suspect Trump will find that out soon enough.
