Adam Carolla, Dennis Prager Teaming Up For Documentary on College "Safe Spaces"

The title is "No Safe Space" but I sure hope that's a working title. We can do better than that. How about Adult Babies Making Pee-Pee and Poo-Poo All Over the School?

I hope they really blast these brats.

"When did everyone become such a colossal pussy? Having your beliefs challenged is as American as apple pie,” says podcaster-comedian Adam Carolla, who will tour the country's college campuses with radio talk-show host Dennis Prager for a documentary movie titled No Safe Spaces.

...

The movie will also explore the phenomenon whereby conservatives who are invited to speak at universities are routinely shouted down or, in some cases, disinvited due to liberal opposition, say the filmmakers.

"College campuses are supposed to be where diversity of opinion is celebrated, not silenced," Carolla said.

Via Safe Space Ekdahl (@johnekdahl).

Oh, and this is worth reading -- a social justice warrior alarmed the Secret Service about her menacing Trump tweets that they paid her a visit. A professor on campus wrote an editorial about this very special snowflake. He got in this delightful little burn:

"Her claims to be a 'queer Muslim' are probably part of an act designed to fit into as many victim categories as humanly possible," Adams elaborates. "Sometimes I wonder whether LGBT stands for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Thespian. So much drama, so few letters in the alphabet."

Now the other snowflakes are claiming his criticism of her is "threatening" or whatever.

The university has said, properly, that the fact that something is upsetting does not mean it's "threatening."

Update: Mark Wahlberg tells his fellow celebrities living in "the bubble" that they should probably shut their pie-holes about politics.

There's no hidin' place down here
You know, there's no hidin' place down here
I went to the rock to hide my face
But the rock cried out, no, no hiding place down here

I wanna tell you that there's no hiding place down here
Don't you know there's no hiding place down here?
Yeah, I went to the rock to hide my face
But the rock cried out, no, no hiding place down here

And when the sinners gonna be runnin'
At the knowledge of their fate
They're gonna run to the rocks and the mountains
But their prayers will be too late

You know, they never thought about Jesus
Not knowing the end was now here
But they'll be runnin' tryin' to find a hidin' place
When it comes their time to die

I said now, no hidin' place

When the water start boilin', no hidin' place
World catch on fire, no hidin' place
Down here, no hidin' place
Yeah, I went to the rock to hide my face
But the rock cried out no, no, no, no hidin' place down here

Don't you know when the world catch on fire
There'll be no hidin' place?
The water start boilin' there'll be no hidin' place
Oh, when the thunder start rollin', there'll be no hidin' place
Sinners start runnin' there'll be no hidin' place

Can't you see the gambler runnin' sayin', "Lord, save my soul!"
And the liar runnin', sayin' "Jesus, save my soul!"
You know, there's no hidin' place down here
There's no hidin' place down here
Yeah, I went to the rock to hide my face
He cried out, no, no, no, no hidin' place down here

College campuses are really where learning serious subjects is supposed to take place. Colleges are really not supposed to be some Borscht Belt speakers circuit.

When I went to college I can't remember more than a couple of speakers on campus ... and they spoke about actual subjects, not just social crap. I'm sure the social crap people were there - we certainly had tons of joke departments that had no business at a university - but I doubt any of them got more than a handful of spectators.

The SJWs should be ridiculed so much they become uncool - because laughingstocks are never cool.

I won't live to see this, but my hope is that 50 years from now, when a former SJW's grandchild sees old footage of college students wailing because Milo or Ben Shapiro are on campus or someone wrote Trump on the sidewalk, the kid will turn to grandpa and said, "Wow, there were really freaks on college campuses in your day."

And the former freak SJW will say, "That's true. Mind, you, I never acted like that myself. It was just a small bunch of students."

I'm planning on spearheading my son's education from the first books he reads on his own through high school. I dream of handing him Democracy in America when he's fifteen and he reads it, understands it, and absorbs it a bit.

I'm hoping to give him enough perspective on the world around him, as well as a founding on principles that's more than an inch deep, that he can go to a college and understand that it's not for self-exploration, but job training. Big-E Education would be something that he wants to pursue on his own, not something he looks to institutions to provide him.

Easy, right?

We had black people, everyone seemed to get along fine. We also had a bunch of Persians but they mainly kept to themselves and rode around in their shiny sports cars.

As far as going to college? Have a plan on where you want to be 4 years from now. Then figure out what you have to do to get yourself there. Don't just go to college to go to college.

Here's a thought.

They always talked about how going to college correlated to over A MILLION DOLLARS in increased earnings over the course of a career. WOW, that must be causal!

Nope. Previously, the KINDS of people that made more in life were also the KINDS of people that went to college to improve their skill set. Correlation doesn't imply causation and if you look at the rapidly declining increase associated with a college degree, you can see how wrong that thinking was.

College is a tool. Apprenticeships are a tool. Being useful is more of a personality trait.

I used to know several young girls who were going to a local community college here for that. It was a two year degree and they already had jobs lined up at local hospitals provided they graduated.

IIANM the 4 year degree was only required for a "registered nurse" and they could pursue that while working and the hospital would help subsidize it.

::shrug:: and when I was contractor, I used illegals as subs. Where I used to live it was at the point where there was literally no other choice. You mind find a gringo to come give you a quote but when the guys show up, none speak English. (I assume they were illegal, I guess I don't know for sure.)

I tried to avoid it, but I mean -- what can you do? And now, in that area at least, now that all of the US citizens have steered away from the trades for 10 years, the illegals are upping their rates to where they used to be when US citizens did the work.

In a sense, I get a kick out of it -- grey market capitalism at its finest.

In another sense... it's no bueno for our country.

No one can... do anything anymore.

Everything is outsourced to kids from Mexico and south and many of them go home to their families when they're in their 30s. We're losing the institutional knowledge of how to do stuff.

Around here it's tough to find a non illegal for lawn care. I've had people stop and come up to me when I'm out mowing or raking wondering if I could do their yard.
Plus, for the other repairs, you can hire the contractor, and then come the day of the job, Hose A and Hose B show up to do the actual work.

Cheapo chinese made home depot materials installed by illegals who don't give a shit about the work (not that I would either in their shoes) building everything around us. And again, no one who actually intends to live their entire lives in this country has any idea how to fix anything.

Like a buddy of mine -- bitched and bitched and bitched that his sink was clogged and his landlord hadn't come and unclogged it for a week. Was washing dishes in the bathroom.

It seriously never even occurred to him to just unclog the fucking sink on his own. Ended up calling a plumber, paying who the fuck knows how much, then deducting that from his rent.

Oh, and now his landlord is coming after him for that deduction.

It never even CROSSED HIS MIND to try to unclog it. He wouldn't even know where to begin.

It seriously never even occurred to him to just unclog the fucking sink on his own. Ended up calling a plumber, paying who the fuck knows how much, then deducting that from his rent.

Oh, and now his landlord is coming after him for that deduction.

Yeah, the Asian culture is ridiculous when it comes to bragging rights on whose kid is in the best college. My nephew wanted to join the military and his mom pitched a fit for 1 year before she relented. She wanted him to go to college and he was 'screw that shit, I want to join the military'. I was proud of that kid for not giving in.

No, mostly those walls are hollow block, no reinforcing, and no grout. And the block is made on site, and much of it you can crumble with your bare hands.

And if not block, then brick, but again, un-reinforced.

And while the floors are concrete, if you know much about what the dimensions of those floors should be and how much reinforcing they should have, you'd be a little queasy about going upstairs, let alone be downstairs if there were a party above you.

Admittedly, they still don't fall down all that often. But we don't have to be jealous of the way they make their stuff.

He said, "There's something in the toilet." Thinking he must have dropped his cell phone I went in the bathroom and figured out it was a simple clogged toilet. He learned that a plunger is the proper tool for that, not barbecue tongs.

He went home sick today so I will not be updating anything until we are both at work and I can get a personal tutorial. Old boss got moved to special projects which fit his expertise for deciphering weird binary data formats as well as got him out of the way so progress can happen so at least there is that small comfort.

Posted by: L, Elle
****

I'm no expert, but yes it sounds too high. The room size you mention will take a little over a gallon. So maybe 4 gallons total of paint and anywhere from $18-$40 per gallon.
Back when I sold paint I always recommended primer, but most people skipped it and were happy with the results. And if they are spraying it on, it should not take them too long to set up and tape etc.

I've done this several times, but the real problem is when your jack is maxed out or sinks into soft ground. Luckily, I have a shovel handy to dig out the gravel/soft asphalt under the spare tire to slip it into place. Shit happens.

Posted by: Fritz at November 30, 2016 05:54 PM (6uMKl)

361 Impact wrenches and lug nuts: These tire places have flunkies working for them. Your average 1/2" drive impact wrench is rated for 90 psi. Your average two-stage compressor runs at 150-175psi.

Said flunkies tighten your lug nuts by running those 1/2" impacts directly off that 150psi pressure. And hammer it. And the don't follow a proper tightening sequence. They put the wheel on, then tighten the first nut down, hammering it.

They will warp the rotors on shit. This happened to my father's Crown Vic when he had some new tires put on.

A fellow I know who used to run a tire place in town explained to me his hair pulling over the idiots he had working for him (his labor pool is all idiots, he lamented). He'd had to pay for one too many new set of rotors.

He ended up putting a master regulator directly off the compressor, keeping the downstream main air feed at about 100psi. This is bitch because it's good to have full pressure for other things, as well as loosening tight lug nuts.

For truck tires and the big shit, he had some other feeds, as needed. But he worried about that.

Posted by: publius (not Breitbart publius) at November 30, 2016 05:57 PM (DW+jj)

362 A benefit to DIY, and this is something Adam Carolla preaches, is that it gets you in the habit of fixing things and doing new things.

I was clinically depressed when I moved into this place and had to do it all on my own. There's something empowering about taking control of your living space and making your immediate environment better.

The kind of man that can fix anything around the house isn't going to languish for long in a job he despises. He's in the habit of fixing stuff and he's going to fix his life.

The kind of man that can fix anything around the house isn't going to be afraid to start a business or write a novel because he hasn't done it before. There WAS a lot of stuff you've never done before around the house. Now you've done it. Anything else can be done, too.

Posted by: Oschisms at November 30, 2016 05:58 PM (ZsN9X)

363 All you have to do with an impact wrench when tighening, even with full pressure, is just be careful. Don't hammer it, and they all have their own little regulator knob on the end. Just turn that down when tightening.

Posted by: publius (not Breitbart publius) at November 30, 2016 06:00 PM (DW+jj)
