Therapy Dogs Brought In to Buoy The Spirits of Depressed Capitol Hill Staffers

These are the people making major decisions that affect your lives.

What about play-doh, coloring books, and all the #SafeSpace #RecoveryRoom accoutrements?

On a gloomy, rainy morning in D.C. — where President-elect Donald Trump won only 4 percent of the vote the night before — five therapy dogs waited to put a smile on staffers’ faces.

“I feel so much better now,” one intern said, stopping short when she walked into Cannon 121 on Wednesday.

...

Two giant white Samoyed therapy dogs — Zamboni and Spumoni — gave everyone who approached hugs and kisses.

“Out of everything in the country right now, no one needs it more than Capitol Hill,” said Mike Bober, president of the Pet Industry Joint Advisory Council.

A patient at the VA on permanent Wait List for brain surgery concurred. "Definitely, no one needs it more than these spoiled, soft-handed brats."

Also enjoy this headline: Clinton's Defeat Means Lost Chances for Many Women on the Rise.

What they mean -- as the Twitter headline made clearer -- was that they were lining up for jobs in the Hillary's Vagina Administration and now have to remain as reporters.

Well I made that last part up. They didn't say that. But you know it's true.

The election of Trump has interrupted many female liberal reporters' wish to get out of writing Democratic propaganda for private employers and start writing Democratic propaganda for the government.

Hundreds of women who were poised to take jobs -- and burnish their careers -- in a Hillary Clinton administration are now facing deferred ambitions.
As the first woman nominated as president by a major political party, Clinton said she intended to form a cabinet that reflected the country’s gender balance. Women were in the running for chief of staff and secretaries of treasury and defense, posts that previously only had been held by men. Her West Wing and executive branch agencies would have been staffed with women who've spent decades working their way up the Democratic Party's power structure.

"Her election would have been a next step for a lot of women to move up in their careers and contribute to the federal government," said Marianne Cooper, a sociologist at Stanford University’s Clayman Institute of Gender Research. "That would have normalized women in top political roles and shown what their leadership in Washington looks like."

The moment is now lost for crowding the government pipeline with a new generation of women, many of whom likely would have moved on to leadership in the corporate world or in elected office themselves.

Aw, their dreams must be "deferred." Nice word choice- - certainly chosen to recall the civil rights era slogan, "Justice deferred is justice denied."

The real victims in all this turns out to be upper middle class college educated upwardly mobile career gals.

Oh, and the Pepsi-Cola Corporation that sells poisonous sugar-water to your children also has a case of the hurtbutts.

employees.

"I had to answer a lot of questions from my daughters, from our employees. They were all in mourning," PepsiCo CEO Indra Nooyi told Andrew Ross Sorkin at The New York Times' DealBook conference on Thursday.

"Our employees were all crying," she said. "And the question that they're asking, especially those who are not white, 'Are we safe?' Women are asking, 'Are we safe?' LGBT people are asking, 'Are we safe?' I never thought I would have to answer those questions."

After congratulating Trump for his success, Nooyi, who supported Democrat Hillary Clinton in the presidential race, said everyone in the US needed assurance of their safety.

People are organizing a #boycottpepsi campaign on Twitter. Their stock declined a bit.

I don't know if that's warranted. I do now believe in using Social Justice Warrior tactics against those who use the tactics themselves -- but I don't see this as deploying such tactics, as the unhinged Grubhub CEO did when he intimated that Trump voters were not welcome in his company.

I think we should allow people to have their own Stupid Political Opinions as long as they're not deploying SJW coercive tactics to make other people submit to them.

This is just typical prog babytalk and play-doh kneading.

Idaho Trump electors report ‘barrage’ of harassing messages urging them to change votes

Idaho’s four presidential electors say they have been getting harassing phone calls, emails and Facebook messages urging them to become “faithless electors” and not cast their votes for Donald Trump in the electoral college.

“A lot of ’em use bad, rough language,” said Layne Bangerter, one of the four electors. “Nothing I feel intimidated over. But we’re watching it very closely. They’ve got our home phone numbers, our cell numbers, our emails, our Facebook. We’re just getting an orchestrated barrage from the left.”

Idaho’s other three Trump electors are Jennifer Locke, of Coeur d’Alene, Caleb Lakey, of Kuna, and former state Sen. Melinda Smyser, R-Parma. “Caleb told me he had over 200 and something when he checked this morning,” Bangerter said.

Locke said, “It is concerning to me. It does feel like some level of intimidation.”

And the same with the play dough and coloring etc on colleges. Hand the kids a list of pre-school and Kindergarten teachers and they can volunteer to play with the kids, cut out shapes for the teachers etc. Or they can go to K-mart or ToysRus and buy themselves some playdough and coloring books. Conflating having teh sadz because you lost at something with being ill or being unable to get around on your own is just offensive and idiotic.

182 What they mean -- as the Twitter headline made clearer -- was that they were lining up for jobs in the Hillary's Vagina Administration and now have to remain as reporters

Well, government pensions are better. And Gawd, under President Historic First Vagina, if they had some how managed to become pregnant, the maternity leave would have lasted until the child graduated from Harvard with a doctorate in Womyns Studies. Plus, it would have given them the chance to finally get even with their middle school crush that ignored them.

______________________

Exactly. Nobody kidnapped them and forced them to go to Charlottesville. They competed for the privilege, and now they demand that they be allowed to attend UVA without ever having to hear Jefferson's words or see his face. Screw them. Slavery was a historical fact. These pampered princesses need to deal with it. Nobody should be editing our history to make it more palatable to idiots like these special snowflakes.

BTW, ever wonder at the selective outrage of these perpetually outraged imbeciles? They loathe people like Jefferson and want him removed from our history, but they never demand, for example, that Lincoln's face be removed from the $5 bill or the nickel, even though Lincoln believed that blacks were inferior to whites.

Boy BFF's sister works for an assisted care place and asked if she could bring in her dog (adorable little mutt) one morning before taking him to the vet. Her boss said sure, it shouldn't be a problem.

He was such a hit that now she brings him in every day. The only problem is getting him to come home at night with her since he's so spoiled there.

That's why I get so mad about this. There's a guy in our church who has a therapy dog. Big huge guy. Little fluffy dog. He's a Vietnam vet who has severe PTSD and that dog? That dog has changed his life and helped him be able to go out in public and has given him an exterior focus. That's an actual use of a therapy dog by someone with an actual problem.

People who get their dog certified as a "therapy dog" so they can take it wherever they want? Those people need throatpunched.

It was remarkable to see people who were basically waiting around to die just flip a switch when a big goofy dog wanted to come give and get some love. Nothing bad can come from that.

Yes, but that's not the point. All that has to be done is to get Pepsi sales and stock to crater for a few weeks, to make a point to the board of directors and the idiot CEO. 300 Instead of an unwieldy Constitutional Republic composed of 50 sovereign states, where there are endless elections and many claims against the time of busy technocrats, the country would be far better off as one unified nation, indivisible, where governors are appointed from Washington, Republicans are illegal, the term "Hate Crime" is defined variously and according to the convenience of the local representative of the Supreme Power, and "citizens" are now "subjects".

Presto! Happiness!

Posted by: Vox 'Splain This! at November 15, 2016 04:57 PM (LISuA)

301 Two thoughts that no one will likely read:
1- I wish conservative news would stop reacting to progressives - ignore them altogether - just like we expect Trump/Pence and the Cabinet to do. Render them irrelevant. After voting for Trump (to avoid a Hillary presidency), I started to learn about what I got in the grabbag. (Like Pelosi, I guess I had to vote for his platform so I could know what was in it). Now that I see what's in it, I feel so very foolish - not for my vote (lucky I did the right thing and didn't refuse to vote) - but foolish for having not seen the truth due to my own pig-headedness and snobbery (I didn't even realize what a snob I was until after the fact). It all became clear when he had the supershort presser with Paul Ryan - he spoke briefly and didn't speechify. Hmm, that's new to me - a get to the point, no BS guy? Someone who could care less if the media loves the crease in his pants. Someone who will ... maybe just get to work, which is the point of leadership and management? Anyway, for the past year I've been digesting so much negativity from the conservative venues - the ones that have been reacting to every insult from the left camp. I've indulged in it myself - and I missed out on all the fun I have had in seeing Trump's rise.
2- Okay, now I'm going to react to the news about fragile progressives needing soothing and coddling. What a pendulum swing from being aggressive bullies, mockers, scoffers, snooty elites ... to full-on crybabies.
Surprising? Not really. I've known several aggressive people who push their weight around, thinking they are important, when really folks were humoring them out of kindness. The nasty people were emboldened by their kindness, they were unstoppable, but they were fragile. How do I know? Because when someone - or some people - put an end to their reign of terror and meanness - a superior or a brave soul speaking up - these nasty people always dissolve into tears and self-pity. They become inconsolable - and inevitably, some idiot (again, out of kindness) says maybe we are too tough on him/her.
This never fails to happen. The biggest bullies are the biggest crybabies.

If you want to be nauseated, go to the US Park service website for Monticello. The fact that Jefferson had slaves has become the prominent feature of the Monticello site, including all the research being done on where exactly the slave quarters were located, what the slaves did, etc. Monticello hosted all kinds of "OMG, there were slaves here" events, chock filled with SJW and "we are a nation of slave owner " types, including the race baiter in chief, Maya Angelou, etc.

Did I mention that Trump Winery is located about 30 minutes from Monticello and the U of V?

423 Whatwhatwhat - what's the deal with carbonated water & gastro issues?
Asking coz I drink a lot of fizzy water.

Doc said they were bad for my ulcer. And it was then that I remembered my dad always avoided carbonated beverages because of his ulcer. Doc said the bubbles in beer were bad too and suggested liquor over beer (in moderation, of course, but I rarely drink anyway.)

Definitely makes a difference. What I love about LifeWater is, it's not too sweet. And the flavors at least taste natural and aren't overwhelming. Plus, zero calories, zero sugar zero fat. The Apple Fuji Pear and Pomegranate ones are my favorites.

A lot of dogs that get shot are just regular family dogs, like the black lab shot through a 2/3 closed window, or the 23-pound yap dog belonging to an old lady, or the little kid shot while a cop was trying to shoot a family dog that was still inside the house. They really need to get their shit together on this.

55 I want to shake some of these adult cry baby whiners.

You know what dogs are therapeutic, if you don't have a pet and need some animal interaction call the local shelter and go visit their dogs are cats instead of acting like you, a supposedly function adult getting paid needs the service brought to you.

But the last thing they need is to be coddled like they are still toddlers.

553 SO

High school. My kids private high school had a presidential "vote". Hardly anonymous. One box for Clinton, one for Trump. An underclass man girl puts a vote in for Trump, and is totally harassed by upper classmen to the point she goes home crying. Her father shows up at school and reams the head of school a new one.

Another girl goes on her facebook, that her classmates see, and goes nuts, saying that anyone who supports Trump is a racist bigot sexist antisemetic homophobe. So, two boys push back, one her page and now it's a thing

The head of school, who is a huge prog, teaches a class that's required for seniors. He decides to talk about the election after Trump is elected. The class discussion goes berserk. He has to send a letter to all parents and students telling everyone to keep it civil, never mind that the only ones NOT being civil so far are the Clinton supporters.

I AM SO SICK OF THIS SHIT

They might point to Canada's Prime Minister Kim Campbell, who was chosen by the Tory Party to be PM because she was a woman and then lead the party to a drubbing of historical proportions down from a majority 118 + seats to two seats (same as if the Repubs went down from the 235 odd they have now to 4 seats in House of Representatives. She never even won her own seat.
