Jury Finds Rolling Stone, Sabrina Rubin Erdely Essentially "Pre-Wrote" UVA Story Before Actually Investigating the Story

And therefore, the jury finds, they are guilty of the bad-intent requirement of defamation -- they had an idea of what the story would be (and therefore that a college administrator would be depicted as uncaring and callous) before they even heard of fabulous fabulist "Jackie."

I don't see that they've resolved the question of damages yet.

This UVa dean sued for 7.5 mil, but no that she has won she can argue for a different # for damages (higher, I'm assuming).

Assange is an asshole and Wikileaks is for Wikileaks. Wikileaks put out a lot of shit on military in Iraq and Afghanistan, to include "Collateral Murder" video. Got US servicemen killed, gave propaganda to enemies, got allies killed. Wikileaks would love to claim they influenced this election regardless of who wins (see ego, Assange). Might hit target I approve of. But not friends and not allies. And not forgiven. They also hype, BS, and fail to come through. But they don't retract.

101 How would Guy Fawkes be treated today? With applause?
Posted by: LizLem at November 04, 2016 08:06 PM (Nto2L)

Anarchists love to protest and riot while wearing Guy Fawkes masks - he's their hero! And if you asked 100 of them who Fawkes was, I'll bet every one of them would say "the guy in that Vendetta movie." They don't know one damn thing about the actual Gunpowder Plot.

102 (Reuters) - The FBI and U.S. intelligence agencies are examining faked documents aimed at discrediting the Hillary Clinton campaign as part of a broader investigation into what U.S. officials believe has been an attempt by Russia to disrupt the presidential election, people with knowledge of the matter said.

Oh so this is the story for the MFM. Fake documents from Russia to effect the election. Start with Rolling Stone and then bankrupt the entire MFM

111 Interesting story at Breitbart about the Wiener 'puter and how it's filled with emails that incriminate Scankles, Bill and some high ranking Democrats in underage sex, pay for play and a host of other sordid activities. Apparently the DOJ is pushing back hard to keep them from announcing the arrests and charges.

Meh. I'll believe it when it happens. But I gotta admit, the idea of seeing the Clintons, Ried the Pederast, and a few others frog marched in shackles and mancles from their houses in the early morning makes me smile. Bigly.

112 The presstitutes are just that. I was appalled back in 2004 when the e-mail gate story broke. It was all over the web. Brian Williams devoted 30 seconds to the story and never spoke of it again.
For those that don't follow that, Phil Jones was the lead climate researcher for East Anglia University who said that the global warming science was settled. Several groups filed FOIA requests for his raw data, but he refused. On the third FOIA request, the court ordered that he turn over the data. Instead, he destroyed the data claiming that he didn't want it used against him.
At the same time it was discovered that Phil Jones and Michael Mann had taken over the peer review process at a prestigious scientific journal and made absolutely sure that any scientist that disagreed with the global warming mantra was not published.
So much for science.

Rolling Stone probably wanted this one to go first thinking it would be easier to win and have the fraternity decide to settle.
I'm guessing that the check that Rolling Stone will have to write to the fraternity went way up.

Might be a litigation strategy. Find out what's out there first, and how it plays with a jury, to determine how to pursue the frat litigation and/or how desperately to seek to settle.

Assange has never written a story or gone through any of the material. He simply dumps it. He did that in 2010 and why he got a lot of our Afghan allies killed and undermined our effort. He's an asshole, pure and simple, and buying into any of his egotistical BS is for suckers. Here's hoping he gets his.

I find that baffling.
We (Coloradoans) got our ballots almost 3 weeks ago (October 15th), and about 70% of the town I live in (Louisville) has already voted, according to the dropoff monitor at the Police Station last Wednesday.

Both the monitor & I agreed that 3+ weeks is too much time for elections -- especially this year.
Why spend that much money when it already is what it already was?

133 Dear Mr. Pens,

I believe I understood your analogy. I made it clear that Asshole Assange does not create any kind of stories, he simply dumps documents. That is his M.O. (that stands for Modus Operandi, by the way). I explained that he has done that in the past, and in fact that was why allies were killed for assisting and cooperating with US forces in Afghanistan.
I hope this clears up whether I am, in fact, "dumb as a box of Rocks".

Sincerely yours,
With kisses,
