Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | Kurt Schlichter: Can Someone Tell Me Why People Belonging to a Party Which Purports to Stand for Individualism and Skepticism of Government Are Now Reflexively Preaching Faith in Government as the Default Mode of Any Good Citizen? This election has been brutal, but it has torn a lot of masks off a lot of smug, well-fed faces. Apparently the Republican Party is now supposed to be the Party of Trusting in Government and Alleged "Experts."No pearl went unclutched when Trump refused to agree in advance to validate the giant scam that is this election. Yeah, scam. In light of all we've seen during this stupidest of years, a year where I had to move my book about this country tearing itself apart from the fiction section to nonfiction, how the hell can anyone keep a straight face as he, she, or xe demands that we default to trust the system? Okay, this is where Team Fake Pearl Clutch jumps in and whines about my "dangerous talk" and about how I have no "honor" because I won’t submit in advance to another establishment okie-doke. Yeah, sure, whatever – and the emperor caught pneumonia because the little kid pointed out that he wasn’t wearing any clothes, not because he was walking around with his junk in the wind. The system is manifestly rigged – even Heap Big Chief Warren used to say so until a memo informed her that this meme is now inconvenient – so spare me your sanctimonious crap about our sacred system. Our loyalty is properly only to the Constitution, not a perversion of it. Just because you hold office under Article I, II, or III doesn’t mean we still owe you respect or deference when you treat your obligations to the People like a teenage Thai boy at one of Raymond Burr's Halloween parties. We owe the system nothing. Nada. Zip. Instead, the system owes us fairness and honesty, and without them it has no right to our default acceptance of its results. That acceptance must be earned. This means that the system must aggressively police its own integrity, and this year it has utterly failed to do so.And he's just getting started. The GOP has always had two conflicting impulses in it, which tend to manifest itself as two different factions. One impulse is for orderliness, domestic tranquility, and rule-and-law-following which beget what is called "ordered liberty." This impulse is made manifest in the Establishment types who pee themselves when they think about defiance and things like government shutdowns. The other impulse is dated to the start of the Republic itself: That citizens are entitled to a responsive and representative government, and that a government's failure to be responsive to the citizenry and represent its interests may justify actual armed insurrection against it. For more on this, see the Declaration of Independence. A lot of Trumpkin crazies signed it. This impulse is manifested in the rowdies, the malcontented, the "anti-government agitators," etc. Now, I think most people have bit of both impulses in them, but obviously, as with any binary impulse, most people lean more towards one side than the other. The GOP used to attempt to have a balance between these two impulses. Not any longer. The "official" GOP -- the power centers in office, the power centers not in office (corporations, corporate-funded think tanks and magazines, etc.) -- is now revealed to be almost wholly devoted to the first impulse -- trust and obey the government -- and now derides those more inclined to the second impulse as dangerous "populists" and possible terrorists. Exactly like the liberals brand them. It boils down, like many questions, to who serves whom. Is it, as Schlicter says, the government's responsibility to make itself credible, or is it the citizen's duty to pretend the government is credible, even if it's not? Does the government work for us, or do we work for it? The same question can be applied to many institutions. The media, for example -- its credibility has cratered. Now, just because the media is an important institution, are we required to prop it up by yielding to it a reservoir of trust and goodwill it has manifestly not deserved? I'm glad the Establishment, NeverTrump, Trust-the-"Experts" wing of the party isn't attempting to rehabilitate the media's credibility, at least, and blame its shortcomings on citizens too ill-educated to appreciate what a great job it's doing.

It's interesting that Nichols made that statement, because I recall certain professors in poli sci waay back when I was a young, naive, coed nattering about how most Americans were terribly uninformed in their voting choices, and needed to be guided along. So that thought has been percolating for a long time, and now has an opportunity to truly spore through social media.
Because, sadly, there ARE people who are not terribly informed about their voting choices. They just tend to be liberals/progressives. Posted by: Moki at October 24, 2016 06:53 PM (VnCI9) Posted by: kallisto at October 24, 2016 06:53 PM (nNdYv) 13

I watched a portion of This Week w/ George S. and, during panel chat, the Dems spoke of the lessons learned from the Trump campaign, namely, that rural America cannot be forgotten as they have these past 30 years.
Jonah Goldberg spoke up to say that there can be no reconciliation between the GOP, such as himself, and the populists. He said there will be a new party. Yes. He said just that. That sounds like one helluva winning strategy there. He and his ilk couldn't give two shits about the state of this nation, but they damn sure care about having to rub elbows with those icky proles. After the release of the O'Keefe videos this past week, and the open admission to vote rigging for the past fifty years at least, every single Republican should be openly saying that every Democrat victory in any election at any level is illegitimate.
If they want to game the system, it needs to be summarily destroyed. Will it harm the country? In the near term, yes, but the current status quo is an absolute dumpster fire that grants power to cheating sociopaths who care nothing for democracy, justice, or election law. Which is worse? I would wager that tearing off the bandage will only be a slight bother and will almost certainly expose even more corruption than has already been admitted to. The economy is about to crater.
Baring some sea change in Washington, what will replace the current system is similar to what you see in say Brazil - a small overwhelmingly powerful and rich elite, a small middle class that serves them, and an ignorant and marginalized majority that continues to empower those that rule them. The GOPe sees that and wants in on the elite side. And they are perfectly willing so sell traditional conservative voters down the river to get their places at the corporatist table. American Politics is a triangle with the points labled "stability" (conservatism), "personal freedom" (libertarianism), "equality" (progressivism). Most people run along either the Equality-Personal Freedom axis (Democrats), or the Stability-Personal Freedom axis (Republicans).

"Illegals, of which there are 20-40M in the country have been found to vote at a rate of around 10%. Other sources of fraud are harder to estimate."
The videos also cover this. They set up a meeting with a guy running an organization that admits to getting non-citizens, mostly illegal immigrants, to vote. He also admits that the practice is illegal and essentially doesn't care. But there are also the problems of votes of the walking dead as well as multiple voting, especially busing people from one state to the next to rack up the vote tally, rigged vote counting, votes of felons and others not eligible. This is all manifestly made worse by same day registration and any and all forms of distance voting and some early voting procedures. Of course, these votes go 90+% to one party. And...we all knew this was going on since at least Kennedy in '60 and the Chicago Democrat cronies getting out the dead vote. Thing is it's all on tape being admitted to. So like I said no Democrat election win anywhere at any level is legitimate and hasn't been for 50 years at least. Every Republican should be saying this at every opportunity. Scorched earth time. In the same way that judges have to avoid the "appearance of impropriety" as much as actual impropriety, right wing figures have to avoid the *appearance* of being something Infowars would post. The radical left has used that play for years. It should be fairly easy categorizing certain things into the "healthy skepticism" bucket and others into the "bat guano crazy" bucket. But for all that people talk about Trump shifting the so-called Overton Window, I see the opposite actually occurring. Progressives are taking his candidacy as a way to re-cast a lot of reasonable skepticism as crazy and beyond the pale. Because Trump gave lip service to a lot of crazy stuff, it makes it easier for them to label all his other views as equally whacko.
I'm sure there's a way to say what he said in the milquetoast lingo of the Trader Joe's bourgeoisie, such that it wouldn't have shocked them, but Trump doesn't know that language. And really if he'd presented the exact same ideas but in the language of the media establishment, he likely wouldn't have caught fire with the people who did vote for him, and the actual ideas he voiced would have been ideologically repulsive to the media/government class anyhow, so it probably wouldn't have helped much. I think this is simpler and less theoretical. It goes one of two ways:
1) Trump wins (what I expect). In his recent speeches (which MSM won't cover), he's laid out what he wants to do in detail. Trump can get a lot of this done without Congress. Then he'll be fighting with Ryan and McConnell, mostly over the budget. There's a lot in this program to satisfy Nationalists, fiscal Conservatives, SoCons and little l libertarians. The R party will be redefined by this. 2) Hillary wins. (A) McConnell can't let a Hillary nominee through that has been litmus-tested to overturn Citizens United (and Heller). It would be a serious separation of powers issue, as well as being bad on the merits. (B) There'll be a fight over Amnesty. If Ryan supports Amnesty he'll either lose his Chair, or have at least half the R voters leave the Party. If he doesn't support Amnesty, Hillary will try to end-run Congress by Executive Order and get it upheld by a packed SCOTUS. This will create a super-serious separation of powers issue. I defend a system that's working; I spit on a system that's a mess.
Then be careful ... because history is full of governments that work their ass off ... right up until they fall apart. If the Progressive Way worked - I would be scared. But it don't. So all I'm worried about is when will the wheels fall off. Sooner hopefully - rather than later. I won't wish that shit on my kids as adults. You rarely win a battle by reflexively ceding territory to an opponent. You will lose most of the time. You cannot win elections by reflexively ceding rhetoric to the Left. You will lose each and every time you try. The GOPe has been playing that game terribly since the beginning of the 20th century (yes, the 20th. ) You cannot fight a battle constantly hemming and hawing, conceding language left and right without looking like a losing sack of miserable shit. Fight, refuse their terms, ram their rules down their throats. Stop ceding the language. Defy them. Oh, and yes, you can do it with a smile. But you win nothing by constantly having to check yourself and your language - That's how utterly fucked the GOPe is - their first thoughts on any issue is "Oooh, which group mustn't I offend." That's how we loose everything. The Left is in the GOPe's heads and the Left is extracting rents. Posted by: weft cut-loop at October 24, 2016 07:32 PM (EIOkK) 120

What do you think about the possibility that Ryan trying to push an amnesty compromise would trigger the GOP formally splitting? A lot of representatives could never get away with continuing to defend the GOP if that happened. I dunno about Ryan's goals, but I'm fairly sure McConnell would have a meltdown if the party split on his watch, he doesn't have the option to go Arlen Specter's route because he can't plausibly flip and would have no power as a turncoat, so he'd be left leading some rump party the equivalent of the UK's LibDems. If it was clear that amnesty would actually break the party, I think their own self-interest would prevent them from going there. They could try to play some roll call games, giving certain reps "permission" to break ranks, but I think that farce is played out. Posted by: cjw at October 24, 2016 07:43 PM (7SQMF) 149

If Trump wins, the R party gets redefined somewhat but mostly carries on. There can be a place for the likes of Ryan if he plays along. Shithead pundits like Kristol, not so much. The problem is, the "conservative" Establishment version of ordered liberty isn't really liberty. Moreover, the Establishment relies on the political scene being ordered only in the sense that its political base of white yeomanry is content to stay in its place. However, the "consevative" Establishment's self-serving accommodations to Cultural Marxism sure as heck don't promote rule of law and social order, which is what ordered liberty was originally suppose to be about.

My favorite bit of community college first-assignment screenwriting error on TWD was when the guy who said he had a "cure" and needed to get to DC was believed - by, literally, the only 10 living people on Earth who knew the whole story of the disease (thanks to their little visit to the CDC before its self-destruction). That was funny it was sooo ridiculously bad.
But in the last season or whatever one almost felt sorry for the writers as they cranked out scripts that were increasingly implausible parodies of cheap horror flicks (hot girl being chased by masked psycho killer trips on obvious tree root while running away - that's how bad it's been). Oh - but the B movie horror stuff was interwoven masterfully with even more implausible soap opera piffle. Good actors, really quite good, ditto the technical side, but hilariously bad writing and imaginations. Posted by: rhomboid at October 24, 2016 07:55 PM (QDnY+) 195

TWD did not need to "break down" the spirit of its characters. Watching the Glenn highlights from early seasons reminds you how far away the show's gotten, there used to be some levity. Now every character is so damned serious all the time, and all the actors talk like they're in a cult (except the new guy.) It's getting to the point where its too bleak and nihilist to be entertaining, and nobody is telling these story writers and actors that they've gone off the deep end.
TWD needs action and adventure and some overarching goal for the characters, like there should be some way to kill all the zombies but its in a lab in Seattle and they have to make it across the country and then when they arrive they solve the problem and the show can be OVER. That's how a story works. Right now the show isn't offering viewers anything, except for occasionally an interesting villian who's fun to watch but in the end is also pointless. OT: I'm a might agey to be traipsing around on the roof to winterize the cooler so I answered an ad and hired a guy to do it. He talked funny and had an Amish-style beard without a 'stache. I asked him about his accent and he told me his first language was German. I asked if he were born in Germany and he said he wasn't. His family has been here (in Illinois) for 200 years but have maintained German as their language at home. The ability to maintain the German language plus his funky beard made me suspect he comes from a fringe religion family. I didn't ask him, though, for fear of sounding as if I were asking what kind of a nut he is. Seems to have done a good job.

Maybe we can import the Pirate Party from Iceland?
btw, Ace, you should do a post on the Pirate Party's likely victory in the Icelandic elections, solely because their party flag looks exactly like you blog logo: https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/europe/ iceland-a-land-of-vikings-braces-for-a-pirate-party-takeover/2016/10/23/ f1bfe992-9540-11e6-9cae-2a3574e296a6_story.html If you're hesitant because you don't what you "take" on the Pirate party should be, then I offer some guidance: They are basically anarchists, but more old-school/honest anarchist who reject communism (unlike the fake-ass "anarchists" in the US who mostly are shills for the socialists). The Pirate Party is basically the Icelandic version of the Brexit voters in England or the Tea Party in the US -- anti-establishment "mad-as-hell" types, but with Goth makeup. overall, I see their ascendency as a very good thing, because it reaffirms the "throw the bums out" mood sweeping the globe. Breaking Bad ran its course and the creators recognized that. Even their second chapter, a pre-quel spinoff, shows good strategic awareness that they had exhausted the original story line. Oh I meant "trapped" in that the tale has devolved to mostly a series of repetitive and increasingly implausible situations. If the cycle of wandering/finding new community of survivors/being betrayed by new community/wandering some more continues, if there's nothing more "out there", then it's a sort of trap.
Having the old veterans jarringly violating all their hard-earned wisdom and rules due to feeelzz in order to generate the B horror movie plot twists certainly suggests a trapped creative team. Whatever. Everyone's mileage varies. Posted by: rhomboid at October 24, 2016 08:20 PM (QDnY+) 307

Why must the ratchet only move one way? Never moves toward the freedom/less government side? I don't want to accept it. My idea is to make people on welfare do volunteer work. Clean parks/mow lawns. Kurt is spot on as usual. I originally started using Twitter as more of a news and opinion feed as opposed to a venue to blare my righteous opinions on everything, but it has been interesting to see:
A. The validation that pretty much all social media rapidly becomes a sewer. B. The mask coming off various members of "the right" as the primaries played out. C. Related to B., the sickening number of elitists on the right and the fact that there are WAY too many people that make a living solely on American politics. Pretty much knew all this before, but it is something to behold this year. God help us. Posted by: Pete at October 24, 2016 08:26 PM (v3qBR) 326

I do find the (perceived) silence of the GOP on the jaw-dropping cavalcade of criminal and/or outrageous horrors revealed/confirmed by wikileaks emails and O'Keefe videos ..... troubling.
I say "perceived", as perhaps I'm missing it. But by definition, in the middle of what is supposed to be a political campaign - one in which the GOP and its dimmer pilot fish never miss a chance to fret over the "down-ticket" situation - it seems, dunno, rather odd that GOP outrage isn't forcing its way into the headlines. As I have noted to zero acclaim or reaction for probably a year or more, the GOP simply doesn't do "politics" any more. At the national level. They file lawsuits and voice-vote and craft absurd (in concept and detail) CRs instead of returning to regular order in appropriations. They literally avoid all the standard, effective, and familiar actual mechanisms of doing politics. Striking, to anyone who understands how it always worked, and must work, if any actual opposition is occurring. Posted by: rhomboid at October 24, 2016 08:28 PM (QDnY+) 329

Sorry, here is an easier version to read of my last post:
Been cleaning the master closet. I have a stack of old LP's in the BR corner near the bed. The one on top is Steven Stills. Early this morning, I couldn't get back to sleep, so I turned on the radio. The oldies station played "Love the One You're With" by Steven Stills. I thought, "Hmm, the only one I'm with is also the one I love. This could be serendipity." But she didn'the respond ato all to my secret back-scratch, so I rolled back over. A little while later, the station switched to morning goof-off format, so I switched to my second choice. Wouldn't you know, the same song by SS comes on. Okay, now this is more than serendipity, it seems like Divine Intervention. In conclusion, I think she must have put away a half Rx of Ambien at bedtime. There may have been Supernatural Intervention, but it it was anything but divine. Anyone out there like Steven Stills? This one is going cheap. Posted by: bergerbilder at October 24, 2016 08:30 PM (27WlQ) 333

Negan is just the next big bad, which, if you are writing a comic book series, is necessary. Characters essentially have no arc, they're two dimensional. The one strength the tv show had, was bringing them to life. So, having gone through the Governor, and Terminus (which wasn't even in the books, by the way), all Negan does is serve as the Boss Who Must Be Fought. If Trump is serious about draining the swamp (and there will be lots of things to plug up the dam, I fear), then once he is done, whatever is left is the new party.
If he is NOT serious about draining the swamp, there will be no need for a new party. The old ones will simply continue swindling and committing treason, and nobody will stop them. The main reason I'm giving up on this show is they had no reason to bring Negan into this.
I don't mind the dead main characters, and I certainly don't mind the gore. This is become boring. This impulse is made manifest in the Establishment types who pee themselves when they think about defiance and things like government shutdowns. I think you're a bit confused, here. The Vichy GOP turds aren't against government shut-downs because they are for the Rule of Law, orderliness or tranquility. They hate those things. THAT is why they are against government shut-downs. We can no longer do that. We can elect conservatives. We can elect them in a landslide, giving them more governorships, state houses, and more seats in Congress than Republicans have had at any time since 1928 -- and nothing happens. The administrative state continues to grow; the progressives in charge force the states to accept same-sex marriage and men in the ladies room; they persuade all the universities in the land to institute an inquisition to hound and ruin young men who have incurred the pique of a young woman or two by stealing a kiss or (more often) by ceasing to steal kisses; and they promise to censor political dissent by identifying as ";hate speech";any statement that breaks from orthodoxy. In response, what do the conservatives in office do? They cower; they run; when put under pressure, they fold (yes, Mike Pence, it is you I have in mind). And when the Presidential candidate foisted on their party by popular fury aimed, in fact, at them speaks an unpleasant truth, they wring their hands. Theirs is the party of the white flag. They show their talents best in retreat. ====== From the Instylink on the sidebar Posted by: Mortimer, deplorable at October 24, 2016 09:03 PM (zu88C) 394
More:
I do not know what will happen in November. I fear both possibilities. Neither Clinton nor Trump is, in my opinion, palatable. What I do know, however, is that if Paul Ryan, Mitch McConnell, and their associates do not recover for the legislative branch of our government the power of the purse we might as well not have elections anymore. For the progressives will use their leverage in the courts and in the executive agencies to shove whatever measure elite opinion comes to favor down the throats of everyone else. We are no longer a democracy. We have become a narrow, ideologically-driven, highly partisan oligarchy, and it would take something like a revolution to restore constitutional democracy and democratic control in these United States. Let me be blunt. Under our Constitution, the House of Representatives has the power to stop anything it really wants to stop. All that it has to do is to zero out the budget allocated for the activity it wants to stop. If it is unwilling or unable to exercise that power, it should close shop. The Republicans are the victims of their own cowardice. ====== From the Instylink on the sidebar Posted by: Mortimer, deplorable at October 24, 2016 09:06 PM (zu88C) 395

I walked away from the six figure job at age 50 because I had had it with the system, And I will never vote for Donald Trump because those who listen to him tend to end up morally, intellectually, emotionally and/or financially bankrupt. Nor will I ever vote for Hillary Clinton. Trump embodies all seven of the deadly sins, those behaviorial characteristics which leave wreckage in their wake. He is arrogant. He covets power. He is envious of those who have the respect that he constantly pisses away through his own childish behavior. He is consumed with anger as well as entitlement. He is the embodiment of an almost animalistic greed for ever more things. He is consumed with lust yo the point od sxualizing his own daughters at young ages. And he is perhaps the laziest, most slothful man who ever sought political power, taking no time to study any of the issues or to listen to advisers. I will readily grant that the people "don't have the basic skills or care enough to learn". That is too obvious to deny.
What is puzzling is the belief that the media have these skills, and that they care enough to learn. The falsity of that is even more obvious than that of the former. Indeed, all they have to offer is their own egos (or, to put it slightly differently, a great stinking pile of bat sh*t.) When they preen on being the umpires and gatekeepers I can only laugh. As to the rage at other republicans, didn't they manage to win two houses of congress and most state governorships and state legislatures? Is that a bad thing? And Why would you expect them to rally to trump, who has bad mouthed them for 18 months straight? When you counter this by saying other republicans have never embraced trump, you sound like Obama when he complains about uncooperative republicans in Congress. Takes two to tango. "Can Someone Tell Me Why People Belonging to a Party Which Purports
to Stand for Individualism and Skepticism of Government Are Now Reflexively Preaching Faith in Government as the Default Mode of Any Good Citizen?" Yes I can The GOP has been captured by the crony capitalist RINOs, who raised the most money (from the 1% rich looking to get government favors from corrupt RINOs to make them richer, while they give kickbacks to the RINOs) to run political ads. Political ads the RINOs need, because it takes a lot of money to convince conservatives that you are conservative when you don't vote that way. And then there is the social conservative faction, who like liberals, want to use government to punish those who merely offend them (say burning the flag, or making racist microagression remarks - to pick two offensive acts for social conservatives and liberals respectively). It's just they have different ideas as to what's offensive. And what do RINOs, social conservatives and liberals want from citizens? Their votes and unquestioning obedience to government they control of course. They need faith in government to justify spending on things like Kabucki TSA and NSA Spying Security Theater, for which they get kickbacks from the 1% rich owners of firms getting the money. After all, the government didn't stop the 9/11 attacks even though they had plenty of evidence, the NSA spying on law abiding citizens hasn't stopped any attacks, nor has the TSA accomplished anything useful. And all of it harms us because we have to pay for this waste that produces nothing but demands for more of our money to supposedly protect us, when government keeps failing to stop terrorist attacks. Terrorist attacks that exist, because we've been meddling in the Middle East with our military for over 50 years. Posted by: MoreFreedom at October 25, 2016 12:24 PM (5QZE9) 412

With all the revelations coming so hard and so fast, the most critical is that Clinton best represents what the so-called "republicans" believe...and so did Obama.
That is exactly why we had 8 years of unfettered Obama, and exactly why the heads of the republican party, and their complicit media, refuse to endorse their own candidate, Mr. Trump. We haven't had a presidential candidate who actually represented the people since JFK. Many, many voters weren't even alive at that time, which means in their lifetime, they have never had a candidate who represented THEIR interests over the special interests who dictate policy. Those "special" interests want exactly what Hillary, Ryan, and the rest of the puppets of the global elite want: a borderless, sovereign-less USA, bowing to a global order's vision of a socialist one-world society. Socialism always serves the 1%. Kudos to Bernie supporters who, at the very least, recognized something was critically wrong with the system. Forgive them for their ignorance in thinking that the solution was to increase the corruption a billion percent...that is what they have been taught since birth. Sad, but absolutely true: the most informed voters this election cycle are those old enough to remember what a government for the people actually looked like, and those who were never indoctrinated by the state education system. By no small coincidence, these are the voters that the elites of government and media are trying very hard to brand as "uninformed"...or as Hillary puts it, "deplorable and irredeemable". Will the highly-indoctrinated win the day again, as they have for the last half-century, and elect the candidate who promises to entrench more government power and less individual freedom? Only if the propaganda works it's magic and numbs a majority into apathy and submission. Bottom line: this election is not about Clinton or Trump. It is about the character of the citizens of our country...sheep willing to continue to be dominated by their leaders, or citizens finally awake enough to say, "NO MORE". I'm an optimist, but if this goes the wrong way again, I doubt there will be a chance to peacefully accomplish a transfer of wealth and power back to the citizenry in my lifetime. I'm not hanging around to watch the slaughter. Posted by: TLForyou at October 25, 2016 02:21 PM (e0CfM) 414

It's all about faith. Our world is held together by it, even our fiat money is nothing but faith. The establishment has come to rely upon that faith, but doesn't seem to truly understand the nature of it. People want to believe that everything is fine, and will continue to fall within an acceptable range of normal. They want desperately to believe that. This gives the establishment a lot of leeway in how far they can push the public.
The problem is what happens when the public finally breaks and begins to develop faith that the system is corrupt. When that happens it will be just as difficult to convince them not to be cynical. They will have a fierce belief that the establishment is out to do them harm, even when it isn't. I think we stand at the very point where that faith for the vast majority of the public is about to flip, and when that happens then anything is possible, even open conflict. A lifelong independent, Gallup had the independent share of the electorate pegged at 42% in January and there's a real opportunity for an independent majority before the next election cycle. The reconfigured Republican Party could divorce itself from the crony duopoly serving the crony/corrupt ruling class and gain supporters from independent ranks to replace evangelicals, racists, and more of the miserably uninformed who can't think for themselves. Leave the push button issues used to maintain an artificial political divide behind and focus on a reform agenda and a reform candidate whose main driving objective is the restoration of representative government, now a hollowed out shell. No more gerrymandering; it creates party lackeys who are reelected at an astonishing rate of 93% from their overwhelmingly red or blue districts. Term limits and half their time spent in the jurisdiction they represent is another needed reform. The FEC, now deadlocked by design to prevent electoral reforms with its 3 Dems and 3 Reps as commissioners, needs 3 new at-large commissioners that are representatives of the plurality that's been more or less disenfranchised -- 9 commissioners, no tie votes. The CPD needs to go, its reason for being is to prop up the corrupted two-party system. Tell the truth -- the bottom 90%, almost 300 million Americans have seen a 0% increase in real income and a decline from 35% to 21% of national wealth since 1986. About 300,000 Americans, the top 0.1%, have seen their share of national wealth more than triple from 7% to 23%, and the top 0.01%, about 30,000 Americans have received the lion's share of that. Because there's no comparison to US wealth and income inequality (and the health issues, social issues, and psychological havoc) among other developed countries, we can deduce that cronyism/corruption in business, government, politics, the media, and any other instrumentality needed to control the money, control the message, and control the people, it's a safe bet to conclude that we now are governed by a sophisticated and omnipresent plutocracy with disturbing characteristics of kratocracies and kleptocracies. All other issues fade into insignificance when we need our government back. As things now stand, a new Hedge Funds R Us store is soon to be opened in the Oval Office -- the principal wealth transfer engine that starved the bottom 90% to feed the top 0.1%.

Your world is disappearing, and you rage, impotently, against it. You rage at me for destroying that which you failed to maintain. You are a fool and a joke. Somebody famous said something once, let's see if I can remember it, since it seems to apply here. Oh yeah: You have a Republic if you can keep it. You didn't keep it, and now you're blaming the young whippersnappers for your failures. Posted by: DFCtomm at October 26, 2016 06:34 PM (tvCLH) Processing 0.07, elapsed 0.0899 seconds. |
