There really is reasoning behind the madness.

Why? Because.

Turn that shirt down. Actually a really cool development.

There is no place for fear, no place for panic, no place for mistakes. Under the ice, you need total control of the place, the time, and to trust yourself completely.

The NFL still doesn't get it. And until The Owners get rid of Roger Goodell ratings will continue to plummet.

Speaking of not getting it. Looks like the flu shot isn't worth it.

So Horde do you partake in the annual flu shot vaccination? Mrs. Mis. Hum. does because of her job but yours truly doesn't. This doesn't convince me to change my ways. Your thoughts?

Waffle House Index.

Some people need to get over themselves. Girls are girls, boys are boys. Do they have to suck the joy out of every bit of life?

"What can I get you girls?" It's one of the first things my friends and I always hear when we're ordering something in a restaurant or bar. Men of all demographics use the phrase, as do a lot of women. It's become so common that I don't even flinch at it anymore, even if it's something I don't particularly love hearing. If you really think about it, though, addressing a grown-ass woman as a girl is pretty problematic, and it's about time we considered nixing the word from our vocabulary entirely.

You have seen those Co-Exist bumper stickers? You know the ones with the various religious symbols spelling out Co-Exist.

Do you think the next Co-Exist bumper sticker will be fashioned out of boobs, vaginas and penises?

College junior Dipro Bhowmik, of the 4-person student leadership team, informed the Duke Chronicle that the indoctrination concerns "questioning how you can be accountable to feminism, to the women in your life and to the larger community." Excuse me, accountable to feminism? Why is it that modern feminism has been so radicalized that it cannot peacefully (and respectfully) coexist with men in their normal behavioral state?

As God as my witness I thought turkeys could fly.

10 The Virtue of Politically Correct Bullying

The worldview of the broader Left is in many ways a religious one. It is a faith of ultimate good and ultimate evil. 'Tis a manichean world view where the ultimate evil is the miasmic conspiracy of "Kyriarchy" and innocent angels who are the oppressed. But this dichotomy is an intersectional one. Oh, of course these evil "Kyriarchs" can not stand on their own, and thus infest people intersectionally with different aspects of evil and set them upon each other!

Amano declined to give details of either incident, but said the cyber attack had caused "some disruption" at the plant, although it did not prove to be very serious since the plant did not have to shut down its operations. He said he had not previously discussed the cyber attack in public.
"This actually happened and it caused some problems," he said, adding while the plant did not have to shut down, it "needed to take some precautionary measures."

23 Answers to the trivia questions from last thread:

Eddie Carnett, oldest living former MLBer, turns 100 the 21st of this month!

Guy I was thinking of, because he's the last man to have played in the thirties is Bobby Doerr. A relative noob compared to Carnett, Doerr doesn't turn 99 until next April.

Doerr had a helluva career, whereas Carnett was basically a war replacement, although it appears he did have the proverbial cup of coffee in '41, which would have been before the vast majority of regulars had been called up to military service.

If you ever decide you want to get backstage and decide to do it the groupie way, don't hook up with a pyro guy. Choose one of the guys who are out in the audience, behind the ropes, operating the million dollar pieces of equipment.

You see, all roadies have issues. They aren't typically emotionally stable individuals, which is why they are on the road and don't have homes.

I haven't since around 2001. Every time I had a flu shot, I'd feel sickly to the point where I'd take the rest of the day off from work and go to bed. I realize that there's *supposed* to be some sort of reaction by the immune system due to the dead flu virus being injected into one's body, but perhaps mine is overreacting. Regardless, I'm fairly certain I've had the flu only once in the past 15 years--it really kicked my ass, though.

Have never met a pyro person who is female.

Once and a while you get female laser operators, but generally, roadies are men.

If there's a female, she's either doing wardrobe or on the lighting crew. Many -- but not all- are lesbians. That might better for living on a tour bus with men.

And yes, of course, roadie girls can kick most men's @ss. As can the local female stage crews. Kind of a kill or be kill kind of thing.

This jives with Falwell Jr.'s statements on Rita Cosby's show that his gope intel said something was going to drop in oct. To force Trump out. Been planned all along by Ryan. Do you think it's just a fucking coincidence that this shit broke the DAY BEFORE Trump and Ryan were to appear on stage together for FIRST time in WI, thus giving Ryan a chance to embarrass Trump with the disinvite.

Carl Mays, it got answered prior thread.

Some say it's kept him out of the HoF, he had a rep as a headhunter, was one of the last legal spitballers. Really though, his career doesn't really meet the standard, he would be a marginal candidate at best, even if he hadn't thrown the pitch that killed Chapman.

"Some things will remain forever. They will last for hundreds of years. Not the roads -- they are unimportant. But what will last is the way in which the state has been organized, particularly the inclusion of the working man as part of the state. He really had made a place for the working man in the state and no one has ever done that before. This principle of everyone working for the common cause, the idea that the industrialist is really the trustee for the capital represented by labor and for the other capital, all sounds so easy, but no one managed it before."

There is also an independent who calls himself a Trump conservative. Spencer Zimmerman. I know if I were in WI district 1 I would not be voting for Ryan. Whether I would vote for the moon bat Dem to send the message or just vote for Spencer and hope there was enough bleed off from Ryan w/o giving the GOPe more excuse to follow the Dems left I don't know.

I'm supposed to. I have diabetes, I work with the public, and I am no spring chicken. A nurse told me years ago that it takes about a month for the shot to kick in, and then it only does its job for a couple of months. Everybody starts screaming about them in September, but the big months for flu are January and February, so the shot's lost its effectiveness by the time flu season rolls around. I try to get mine right around Thanksgiving so I have the best coverage during the height of the season. But I forgot all about it last year. And this year's shot is supposed to be damn near useless, so I'll forego a couple days of a very sore bicep this year and hope for the best.

IIRC, about 30% of Reps voted against him in the primary. If you could somehow get those conservatives to hold their noses and vote D, you might be able to get rid of him.

Of course, then you want to get rid of the D two years later --- and there's nothing to stop Ryan from coming back again.

274 I've worked in restaurants and retail for the past fifty some years, and I've run cash registers every day of those fifty some years. People become blithering idiots when they get too close to a cash register. My favorite customer is the woman with a big stack of merchandise. I ring it up and tell her the total. She gets this "deer in the headlights" look on her face as she realizes she actually has to pay for this stuff. She then opens her purse and starts hunting for either her check book or her credit card. While doing that, she asks if she can give me the coins, then write the check for the even dollar amount or charge the even dollar amount, then scowls when I say no. She finds the check book , slowly writes the check then goes on another big hunt for her drivers license even though she just used it a sho r t while ago at another store. Or an even worse scenario: she hands me cash then chirps that she has the change. By the time she scours h e r coin purse, the bottom of her purse, every compartment in her purse, every pocket in her coat and still can't find that last penny, I could have run three more customers through. Then she goes off complaining about how slow and stupid the cashier was. (This always happens during the Christmas rush, and the sad thing is that the next woman in line goes through the same performance even though she's had more than enough time to find her checkbook or credit card and license while waiting for the first woman to complete her transaction.) Now that I am closing my store, I am not going to miss these brainless wonders in the least. And thanks to the wonders of online shopping, i'm not going to get behind one either.

281 Some moron - Sanfransyco? - said he got his voter pamphlet today - 300 pages.

He/she's in the Bay area, easily the most moonbat and hyper-actively authoritarian part of a state where American civic culture is just about snuffed out (holdout/inertial enclaves remain). So just imagine the list of idiotic things placed before voters there. All of which will pass, probably.

Oh - and if by some chance (and for 4-6 years now, there have not been any sane propositions - well state-wide, anyway - that have prevailed) a non-insane proposition wins ..... AND it affects anything of great interest to the wild-eyed racist fascist illiterate majority and their arrogant, comfortable "leaders" ..... "they have other options".

Namely a meritless lawsuit venue-shopped to a Sondergericht "judge" (state or fed), where faithless state constitutional officers can let the suit win by default (see Prop Eight).

And after the hilarious kabuki that Prop Eight went through at SCOTUS - "no standing" for the citizens of the state as represented by actual advocates for something, only for the faithless const. officers who, naturally are defaulting on the whole thing - it is now formalized that a handful of people can overturn millions of voters in a majority, if they care to do so.

Of course the presidential level is meaningless in CA, and the place is so degraded that for the other federal offices you will have a choice of two stupid, racist, authoritarian Dems for Senate (oh, yes), and depending on your district either an unbeatable stupid, often racist, sometimes criminal, alien, seat-warming cretinous Dem of some variety, or an unbeatable GOPer, some of whom are OK but none of whom are of much use for several reasons we all know.

So it's basically a chance to vote on stadium bonds, and a handful of other odd-ball items where racist illiterate moonbattery or idiotic tribal voting don't make the outcome a foregone conclusion.

Think we've found one to file at the top of the chart.

Schwarzenegger, Der Shtuppenfuhrer, infamous since the 1970s for his insane carnal apetites and hijinks, to include the spectacular and disgusting affair (with offspring) with his maid (while governor, while married, while father of several girls) - is so scandalized by Trump's comments 11 years ago that he will not be voting GOP.

Johnson went to DC as a businessman, non-lawyer politician. He has had his moments. He was the senator to evoke Hillary's tirade of "what difference does it make"

However he has voted more with McConnell than against. I will vote for him. But it doesn't look good for him. Feingold is a putrid piece of shit.

350 The staggering hypocrisy of the Democrats is an amazing thing to watch.

After the Monica Lewinsky affair, they circled the wagons and rushed to Bill Clinton's defense, and their lapdog media happily trumpeted his speech that (rough paraphrase) "the pursuit of personal destruction in the name of politics must end". They declared a politician's private life to be off limits, and not a fit subject for political debate, and within short order, the very idea of making moral judgments about politicians became taboo.

And now that the shoe is on the other foot, the rules they made are now working against them, so they want to change it back to the way it used to be. We need to remind them at every turn that it was their defense of Bill Clinton that made it possible for Trump to run for office.

What an irony, if their own efforts to change the culture and the rules of political discourse to save Bill end up denying Hillary the White House now.

366 But Bourbon, as you have been instructed by an occasional visitor here the last few days, the valiant GOP has denied the affirmative action intern in the WH any legislative victories since 2010.

Because 6 more consecutive years of omnibus appropriations - which effectively neuters Congress' control over budget priorities and obliterates its power in the case of head-on disputes - is not a victory for the WH. Neither were the appointments of typically unfit nitwits that just sailed through (Dubya would have had half a cabinet of recess appointees rotating in and out if the Dems had taken Congress like the Tea Party, er, "GOP" did in 2010 and 2014).

And the rule book says we cannot score the extension of the exemption for union "cadillac" health insurance plans under the catastrophic O-care law as a victory for the Dems - don't ask.

And on top of that, Ex-Im bank was saved.

And Congress drew a Syrian red line on lawless executive amnesty ..... and then folded a few months later.

So I hope I've straightened you out now. Wouldn't want the occasional commenter to have to come back and school you in front of everyone.

371 In yet another example of what a racket the medical biz is, take my father, who,at 88, has been diagnosed as diabetic. And he has lost control of his glucose. Sugar or fast carbs and his glucose levels will get sky high. The day they said that, I went to CVS and got a damn meter, and some test strips for something $20 + whatever the strips where.

Well, they sent him to some "diabetic education camp" (where they told him something that was actually bullshit). And they gave him a meter. He told them that he already had one, and they didn't like that too much and told him he needed to use on of the good ones.

The test strips are "prescription" and they cost a shit-ton. Medicare gets billed for it all. I compared them for several tests, and they're both within < 5% of each other, and are well within in the official accuracy standards.

That's a tiny example of the shit that goes on and why health care costs are inflating like crazy.

We'd be a lot better off to start a new party as soon as Trump wins the election (if he wins), and start trying to get people on Congressional ballots for 2018, with the hope of getting enough people started in politics that we could have a slate of semi-experienced Senate candidates, and a Presidential candidate in 2020.

The Republican Party can not be saved, it is too far gone, and its leadership would rather be the Captain of a sinking ship than man the deck gun on a victorious one. The Republican Party must be destroyed.

You're absolutely right about the fundamental unseriousness of this country. We're facing debt loads that are quickly approaching the point of no return, even with our crooked accounting making 'em look as pretty as possible. Our leaders are talking about war with Russia for honoring the terms of a military alliance in a country where we have no compelling national interest. We are facing a multitude of terrorist threats from religious-themed organizations from the Islamic world. We have government intrusion destroying our already-stumbling healthcare system. We have another housing bubble forming, and the government repeating the same errors that lead to the last one. We have tens of millions of people out of work, with labor force participation at its lowest numbers since numbers have been kept.

And what's the hot-button issues of the day? Locker-room talk, and bathrooms for transgenders.

Fundamentally unserious.

391 Now now Mike H., I recall being instructed right here in these comment sections about how Trump was hell-bent on shredding the constitution.

Cuz opining a common idea WRT our messed up libel laws is of course a dagger aimed at the heart of the First Amendment, even though the two subjects and concepts touch at no point.

And further cuz enforcing immigration law as it was done since such laws existed is now suddenly a magical threat to the Fourth Amendment, which mysteriously survived intact thru decades of actual strict enforcement of immigration law.

The US president messing around with a Soviet-bloc agent. In the early 1960s. And his brother, the AG, doing it too.

Not only did they create the conditions for Trump by steering things in the direction of mob rule, but they also created the change in the culture that allowed him to run to begin with, with their defense of Bill Clinton, and the way they made it taboo to bring morality into public life.

The engineers have hoisted themselves with their own petard.

In 1582 because of the adoption of the Gregorian calendar, this day does not exist in this year in Italy, Poland, Portugal and Spain. Also, once when crossing the International Date Line the Navy took away my birthday.

On the colonoscopy and first day back at work; I have had a LOT of colonoscopies. The procedure itself is nothing, the preps beforehand are a PITA.

On the cities; I have been to a few of those. You Northern CA and NV Morons; is that iconic Reno sign still there across the road? And who in the hell would want to go to Bangor, ME?

Flush 240 pounds of Hg??? Expensive little joke there eh.

Flu shots; count me as one of those Morons who has never got one and who has never got the flu since being an adult. Why? I don't have children in those germ factories called schools.

Pet Peeves: Use to see that a lot in the Walmart grocery here and people started complaining so they cracked down. You don't see it at all any more.

From the Internet news it sounds like it was pretty bad but I haven't been down there. Here about 120 miles inland the only problem we had was a lot of trees down.

485 Same here, Vic. It's getting into the upper thirties at night.

Sis and I are headed out on the river today for the last hurrah. Eggs already hard-cooked for deviling. Water's high so we're going to poke around in our favorite big island. Might even drown a worm. After that, we'll eat those eggs, along with ham sandwiches and beer.

Then we will put the boat on the trailer and button it up for the winter. So long, summer. I hardly knew ye'.

486 It made it to 70F here yesterday. It was a beautiful day. They had predicted in the mid 60s but as usual they were wrong. They are predicting 69F today so it will probably hit 75. If they do I will go get some gas and mow the front yard for the last time this year.

495 Reading some MSM sites, lib commentary, tweets etc... The left have after 2 days turned the debate upside down and announcing it was Hillary that schlonged Trump. She played weak and stupid to draw him in or something. Hillary showed what a loud obnoxious racist hater Trump is by letting him rant, Hillary was cool, calm and dignified, Trump embarrassed himself by hiding behind Clintons "alleged" victims who have been discredited, and on it goes. F***ing incredible.

Despite the huge Trump rallies and complete lack of visible Hillary support I'm starting to get the feeling I did in 2012 when I realized Obama was going to win. The MSM-Dem-LIV power matrix is just too big and stupid. These people are going to elect Hillary and then the pain really starts. On the other hand, 2012 was such a let down this will not surprise me. That was the turning point so this would just be a continuation.

I have a Cub and have had good luck with it. But I have a tractor place here do routine maintenance on it every year and that helps a lot. Your mower is getting along in years I have seen articles that say after a certain period of time it is better to get new one than try to keep getting repairs done since the cost of labor is so high.

Yep better off with a new one. But another alternative is to find some kid who still mows grass and contract with him to mow it. You can get a lot of grass mowed for $2,000 which about what a new riding mower costs.

509 I did try to go that route of hiring someone to mow it. Started by buying a push mower after grand kids said they would mow it once a month for $30. They mowed it one time, I paid them $40. They never would mow it again. And we don't have the kids walking around pulling a mower and knocking on doors like I used to do in the summer.

I wound up buying another mower.

Around here it's about 60 bucks each time to mow. Plus, we have a stinkload of leaves from all of the trees. Mowing season is end of March into November.
I can get a rider and have it paid back in 2 years. Plus I like to do it myself. Plus the guys that mow don't bother doing things like, pick up the dog/raccoon/possum/deer/?? crap that's sometimes out in the yard.

535 The fact is that "girl" is a favorable term. When a boy, girls are the ones you can get along with, except during the cootie phase. (And even then there are some you like.) WOMEN are people who boss you around constantly. They are the vast majority of teachers in grade school. To call someone a girl is to say she's not like that.

I cannot decide if the feminists do not understand this, or if they do - and want every female to be constantly nagging. The evidence points to the latter.
