EMT 10/01/16 [krakatoa]

You can tell it's October because one of our presidential candidates looks like a pumpkin, and the other is a wicked witch.

I'll be here all weekend. Try the veal.

2 Good Morning Morons. Today is Saturday, October 01, 2016. On this day in 1903 the Boston Americans played the Pittsburgh Pirates in the first game of the World Series. There was a book out several years back named The Boys of October which celebrated the World Series won by the Boston Red Sox, but I think that slogan came out long before that game. I just can't find the origin. Maybe some other Moron can. I used to love baseball and softball when I could play. Never did like watching it on TV that much.

3 Latest Fox Poll has Scankles inching ahead now. 43/40 in most likely voters 4-way done by one D polling firm and one R polling firm. This is a national poll (bad) and has a confessed breakdown of 42/38/18 "fair" since the last election the Democrats won by 4%. But there is a difference this time. Scankles will not get the black turnout that Obama got. Those urban cities full of voter fraud will not have the numbers they have had since 2008 and this will have an impact on those key tossup States.

11 Far Left Democrat Findhimsumgold is looking to get his Senate seat back one way or another in hard Blue WI.

University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee political analyst Mordecai Lee said the circumstances are different than in 2010, a midterm election where turnout was lower and the electorate "skews" Republican.

The poll confessed breakdown was 37/32/31. Obama won WI by 4% in 2012 so the breakdown is only 1% off. What amazes me is that in poll after poll after poll people overwhelmingly say congress sucks and it is not by a small margin and it doesn't matter who is supposedly in control. Yet year after year after year people vote to return their own corrupt assholes to congress. The only take-away from this is that people are stupid enough to think it is everyone's else's assholes who are rotting up the apple barrel. And here is more take-away from this article, like every other turnover race outside money is pouring in to this one. This is something else I would stop by an Art V convention. No money allowed from outside of the political subdivision that is the subject of the election. To me this is the same thing as allowing the people in CA to vote in a WI election.

But I think more and more people now are working shift work and varying daily cycles of days off. The traditional 5 day 9 to 5 work week is disappearing in the US. I have almost never worked it.

47 @37 Skip-Hillary is a symptom of the left. The left will be with us even if she were to croak. F U War! is a catchy slogan, but beating away on a keyboard daily doesn't make these a-holes on the left go away. Might help for "venting" or "educating" someone passing through here. The only rational, reasonable re-course we have is through an Article V convention of the states before serious bloodshed in the streets. Unfortunately that education thing gets in the way even for some here at AoS concerning Article V. People here should be more diligent in educating themselves about Article V, but they won't. We're F'ed I think.

48 I would predict the Hillary white house would be infinity more corrupt than Barak's.

Posted by: Skip at October 01, 2016 06:41 AM (ofpt4)

49 For those others who missed those earlier posts about wind turbines I'll give a short rundown the problem.

Any generation facility when connected to the grid should run at steady load and controlled load. When you parallel a generator with the grid and close in on it, you then increase power to the generator which causes your generator to pick up power from the overall grid. This will cause power to decrease in other generators that are already attached, but load dispatchers try to do that anyway by reducing generation from more costly sources. And that helps maintain the grid stable and at 60hz.

In most grid instability cases in the past there was insufficient power generated to supply a heavy and increasing load. Without more generation the turbines would slow down causing frequency and voltage to drop. And blackouts would occur when that inevitable straw heaped on the camel's back.

Wind turbines by their very nature or unstable. Their power output varies wildly as the wind speed varies, With wind turbines attached to the grid if you have a large supply of them it becomes difficult to regulate the grid. This is what happened in that example for Australia above. The grid collapsed. And some of you may remember from the few times we have had that happen in the US. It takes a while to recover from that when it happens.

Posted by: Vic We Have No Party at October 01, 2016 06:43 AM (mpXpK)

50 Prager constantly mentions if it would have been Kerry, Gore instead of Barak, Bernie instead of Hillary it would make no difference, its leftism we are fighting. A) It is a miracle Ronald Reagan was able to accomplish what he did considering the tremendous opposition he had from all quarters including his own party. Flash forward to today and considering the level of institutional corruption in DC and elsewhere, plus the man's own political bent towards populist/nationalist/agrarian statism and the situation is in doubt.

B) Read this essay from Angelo Codevilla.

C) Weep.

It cannot be screamed enough that Hillary must not be allowed to win lest the pain from the inevitable destruction become unbearable. The only road back - and at this stage it is a very long shot - is Article V.

We have lost the republic as founded and are now in a hazy area of uncertainty. G-d help us.

We worshiped our coffee in the Navy. Whoever stood watch on the turbine flats where the coffee maker was at was in charge of making sure the pot was full of fresh coffee all the time. It was part of watch quals to teach them how to make "good" coffee. And that Navy coffee that came in those 20 pound tins was the best coffee I have ever found anywhere. You could trade one of those tins in the yards for anything you needed.

The idea of Article V as it applies to today is to rejigger (racist!) the Constitution with amendments that de-fang the Fed and SCOTUS and ensure that crap like that cannot or at least becomes very difficult to occur. See Levin's book as it has many excellent suggestions for amendments to accomplish this.

There's nothing, in theory (REPEAT: IN THEORY) from stopping a state right now from seceding. Nothing I'm aware of.

Also there is no procedure in place that defines how a state may leave the union. My guess is that the Feds would haul off in chains the leadership of any government that would try it.

This is a national poll (bad) and has a confessed breakdown of 42/38/18 "fair" since the last election the Democrats won by 4%. But there is a difference this time. Scankles will not get the black turnout that Obama got. Those urban cities full of voter fraud will not have the numbers they have had since 2008 and this will have an impact on those key tossup States.

.
.Nope, we ain't going to get anything close to that even if we could get two thirds of the States to even agree to meet for a Convention.

What we would most likely get is a nullified Convention where nothing gets agreed upon because every State gets an equal vote.

First of all an Art V Convention is never going to happen unless more States turn completely Red. That means both State Houses and Governor. Here in Kentucky it looks like we might actually have that happen for the first time in 100 years. But at the current time we don't even have half of the States we would need to vote for a Convention.

148 Another problem with wind turbines that does not get discussed much is the blades. These are huge precision made airfoils; they have to be in order to work with any kind of efficiency. Problem is, they soon get covered with bird and bug splat, which disrupts the airflow over the blades, reducing their efficiency considerably. So you have to stop the turbine altogether and wash the bloody blades, which is time consuming and labor intensive.

The problem is that wind turbines, solar or any other "alternative" power source is that it is not reliable, it is not efficient, and they will never provide more than a small fraction of power to the grid. The ONLY reliable sources of energy for power generation are oil, natural gas, coal and nuclear, period. It is only the leftist idiots who can't do math that think otherwise.

169 Question for someone who might know. When Microsoft rolls out a new operating system or new version of software, is it redesigned from the ground up or are they just tacking stuff onto what's already there?

Posted by: Kodos the Executioner at October 01, 2016 07:54 AM (J8/9G)

It is definitely the latter. They are tacking new stuff on top of what is already there. Even today, at the core of the Windows OS still resides good ol' DOS. And yes, Apple does the same with their OS, as do all the UNIX people, etc.

The thing to keep in mind is that creating a new operating system is far, far more complex than writing up an application program, or "app", to use the popular term used nowadays. This is why you almost never see a new OS introduced. Indeed, the only time I can recall a new operating system ever being introduced in the past 30 years was something IBM came out with in the 1990s called "OS/2 Warp". (Microsoft was involved in it's early development but it became primarily an IBM product.) I don't know why, but it basically flopped and never went anywhere.

So yes, all OS's, regardless of source, are just upgraded and modified versions of the same handful of OS's that have been out there for decades.

Its not working in CA either. It is ironic that the watermellons are all for geothermal which pumps hot water out of the ground and but totally opposed to fracking which pumps water into the ground to extract oil or gas. And of course they predict massive doom from earthquakes for something that has been going on for decades with no problem. And they absolutely no reliable evidence that it will produce earthquakes.

Of course they have no reliable evidence for global warming either,.

Posted by: Vic We Have No Party at October 01, 2016 08:36 AM (mpXpK)

You are correct, at least to a point. In order to build an effective hydroelectric station on a lake, it has to be pretty damned big, in order to provide the requisite head pressure to run the plant. Texas is covered with manmade lakes, but the only one with a hydro station is Toledo Bend reservoir, on the Sabine River. And it's a damned big lake.

I live on Lake Conroe, one of the last manmade lakes ever built (the damn was built in the early 1970s). To give an idea of how pervasive the "watermelons" are, thanks to the Obama economy, one of the few places left in the country where you can get a job is, unfortunately, here in Texas. So this area is now swamped with out of state trash looking for work, particularly in this area. (Last time this happened was in the '70s when Carter made his mess with the economy.) The problem in this area now is not enough water to supply the needs of the aforementioned out of state trash we are now having to deal with. So the San Jacinto River Authority decided to build a water pumping station at the Lake Conroe dam, taking water from the lake, which is actually not that big.

The locals protested, knowing that this would have a severe impact on lake levels, but we were told by the SJRA to pound sand. One idea they did come up with, though, was to supplement the lake's water supply when needed by cutting a ditch to the Trinity River (quite a big river as Texas rivers go), and using that to supplement the water supply so the out of staters around Conroe would not go thirsty.

Needless to say, this plan was blocked in court by...wait for it....The Sierra Club.

I can't say here what I would like to do with those "watermelons"...

So you want to demand that Christians "celebrate" your gay wedding? You "demand" that I indoctrinate children that boys and girls are not really boys and girls, and that their parents have a right to indulge in them in fantasy reality to the point of manipulating their hormones before they have the capacity to consent? You say I have no right to debate the merits of immigration, on policies being decided by my own government, because someone might be "offended"?

No sir, you're not being "PC". You are simply demanding that everyone surrender their freedom to your Marxist, reality-denying agenda. You are my enemy and the enemy of America such as it was once constituted. And may the barbed cock of Satan never tire in fathoming your asshole.

I'd read when it comes to how people self identify (not how they are registered) several months ago, a large sample (~85K) showed 29/29/42.

And as you noted, that doesn't tell us who will turn out. Several polls have shown low interest for Hillary, volunteers don't seem to show up, and this planned for months assault on Trump over this fat shaming thing may actually (in time) flip in favor of Trump. There are now several other of his pageant queens coming out about how awesome he is, and there was a show on this fat shamed woman showing how Trump helped even her.

There may be a dip for Trump from this big "October Surprise Rollout", but only because the networks all ran with it. So maybe Trump tweeting about it was not so stupid ... he can flip it to show it was all another Crooked Hillary manufactured charade, like her Benghazi video lie.

Independents were still +12 or so for Trump, so the 29/29/42 model flips most polls to Trump +4 or more. And yeah, the state by state are more important .. and that looks even better for Trump.

Thanks. But I am now considering dropping VNN on weekdays. It has become redundant when JJ posts links at 0645 in a new thread.

Vic, I hope you see this comment. Dropping VNN on weekdays, while understandable from your viewpoint, would be a loss for me. I look for you first before I read anything else. Your efforts are appreciated and would be missed. But I get it.
