Trump: "Hillary Clinton and her campaign of 2008 Started the Birther Controversy... Barack Obama was born in the United States. Period."

The idiot girl who doesn't know her job on Fox is claiming there's "no evidence" linking this to Hillary Clinton, but even CNN noted that some of the people close to her had dirty hands with regard to the claim.

In January 2007, Insight Magazine, a right-wing publication, reported that Clinton's team had questions about Obama's Muslim background. It said that researchers connected to Clinton were spreading the allegation that he spent four years in a madrassa. The Clinton campaign said this was not true.

And back on March 19, 2007, then-Clinton adviser Mark Penn wrote a strategy memo to Clinton about Obama. It did not raise the issue of Obama's citizenship. But it did identify Obama's "lack of American roots" as something that "could hold him back."

Reggie Love, the longtime traveling aide to Obama, wrote in his book that Clinton and Obama had a heated conversation about the notion that Clinton supporters were sending emails saying that he was a Muslim.

In a March 2008 interview with "60 Minutes," Clinton said she took then-Sen. Obama's word that he was not a Muslim, but when pressed if she believed he was, she replied, "No. No, there is nothing to base that on -- as far as I know."

What we see in 2008 from Clinton is a but she never went as far as Donald Trump did in 2011 in an interview with Fox News.

Oh she did it subtly -- oh well, why didn't you say so? We all know that subtle racism is completely acceptable in a way that overt racism is not.

Oh: This topic was eating up the comments of the last post so I put that into draft. I'll pop it back out later.

Of course, people hate Trump as well, and that may drive people to the polls."

The latest Quinnipiac poll says 57% of the voters hate Hillary, 59% hate Trump.

Only 32% of Hillary voters say they're mainly voting for Hillary (rather than voting against Trump). Only 23% of Trump voters say they're mainly voting for Trump (rather than against Hillary).

61% say they "can't relate" to Hillary. 64% say they "can't relate" to Trump.

That's quite a mandate you have there, major parties.

On the other hand, I'd almost rather have a president that's roundly hated rather than one being given the god-king tongue bath that TFG was. Fortunately that didn't last long.

140 And this is how you handle the liberal press. Point out the hypocrisy. Every time. Every single fecking time. Do not buy into their narrative that they try and build into every question. Hence, if the question is "why did you [Trump] start that craaaazy birther issue and why do you persist in it?" The answer should always be: "Actually Hillary started that one and, in fact, I haven't been talking about it at all. You shmucks and Hillary, whom you overtly support, keep bringing it up. But if you want to ask Hillary why she started the rumor and why she allows it to persist then I will be glad to answer any questions on what she says in response. But then again she would actually have to hold press conferences and answer questions, wouldn't she?"

Anyway - I am telling you - I am really starting to get the feeling that if Trump keeps this up - he wins - by a lot.

Of course plenty of time to feck it up - but certainly liking the trajectory.

Well, my last post on the book thread is gone, so...I repeat.

I went to the Trump hotel website to look at the new DC hotel and it is stunning. While googling it, I noticed half a dozen stories highlighted online about the hotel, claiming how expensive it was to stay there. Even the Stars and Stripes was in on it claiming it was outrageously expensive, another story about how it is going to go bankrupt if it doesn't charge $795 a night for a room, another paper claims rooms start at $895 a night.

The website says rooms start at $395. Sure that's expensive, but not for a four/five star hotel located in one of the most expensive cities in the USA. Even a Marriott in say, Pittsburgh is going to cost a business traveler $200 plus a night during the week.

It is amazing how biased and how brazenly inaccurate most of the media is in the country.

Agree. Matthews does not have the same thrill up his leg for Hillary. I watch him sometimes because it's fun when he accidentally behaves like a journalist. Questioning his birthplace and citizenship is not racist. Romney and Cruz both had people questioning their citizenship as a consequence of their birthplace.

So it's not racist. It is, however, stupid, since Stan was an American citizen, and so spawn would be American citizens if they were born on the moon.

254 When the whole birther thing was raging back in 2008 I was in one of the world's largest libraries doing deep research on Obama and I was able to request and then literally hold in my hands an original paper edition of the Honolulu Star-Bulletin from August 1961 and there on the yellowing page of the birth announcements section is read, "BORN to Stanley Ann Dunham, a son, Barack Hussein," or something to that effect, and for me, that ended the entire conspiracy.

When I point this out to birthers, however, they claimed that putting a FALSE birth announcement in the paper at the time was ALL PART OF THE PLAN, and that there was actually no proof needed of a birth to take out an announcement in the newspaper. The announcement was only put in the paper in order to make it LOOK like he was born in the US.

When I queried was purpose this could possibly have served in 1961, I eventually learned from them that the Evil Powers That Be had been plotting Obama's takeover of the government SINCE HIS BIRTH and needed this cover story (that he was born in the US) to pave the way.

I threw in the towel at that point.

255 I'm guessing Obama went from Occidental to the Ivy League based on some trans national type of claim, whether true or not. He simply didn't have the academic promise at that point to achieve it.

On essence, he created the birther stuff with his own lie. Then he masterfully turned his own bullshit into political propaganda by not releasing the details in that transcript and letting the nonsense that he was not born in this country go on until such time he felt a document drop would work to his advantage.

For campaign reasons, he didn't want anyone to see that.

Obama created the misinformation that started the entire "birther" thing. Yeah, the Hillary campaign did pass it along, but It seems pretty obvious that not only did Obama's literary agent but Obama, himself, probably used his faux Kenyan birth to further his fortunes while in college (all of that stuff is locked away, of course, except the 1991 Harvard Law Review BIO claims Obama born in Kenya, raised in Indonesia).
The irony of all ironies is that Obama's opponents ended up picking up his lies, mostly because they were so convenient, only to make themselves look silly. No wonder Obama let the "birther" lies go on so long before releasing his Hawaiian birth certificate.

He never said that his speech was going to be about birther crap. But all the MSM assumed it was because of some crap he said yesterday.
Then, when they all showed up for what they thought was some monumental birther speech and potential Trump screw up...and then started showing it live on all the news channels...he trotted out a bunch of military leaders singing his praises. He waited until the very end of the speech (which, again, they all showed live for him) and then said something on the order of "I didn't start the birtherism thing, Hillary did. But I finished it. Obama was born here. That's it. See ya tomorrow."

289 254 When the whole birther thing was raging back in 2008 I was in one of the world's largest libraries doing deep research on Obama and I was able to request and then literally hold in my hands an original paper edition of the Honolulu Star-Bulletin from August 1961 and there on the yellowing page of the birth announcements section is read, "BORN to Stanley Ann Dunham, a son, Barack Hussein," or something to that effect, and for me, that ended the entire conspiracy.

That claim about the forged newspaper announcements was nutty.

I don't think there is any question that something was filed for him in Hawaii after he was born.

Neil Abercrombie, who knew his parents when they were students at UH, said when he was running for governor that when he got into office he would look at the records and assure everyone it was okay. Once in office he did look and then made a comment in a radio interview about there being a "notation" of Barky's birth in the records and he has mostly shut up about the subject since.

Like I said, an adoptee gets a new birth certificate, and the old one goes into official limbo. Ask anybody who has adopted a child.

My point is, sure, he was born in the US, to Stanley Durham and Barack Sr.

When he was adopted by Lolo, he officially became Barry Soetero. The family didn't like calling him by his birth father's name, as Barack Sr. wasn't exactly popular in the household.

That's why Obama didn't just pay the $10 or whatever and get a copy of his birth certificate to quash the birther stories; it would have the wrong name.

"Barack Obama’s review of William Ayers' book

Sat, Oct 18, 2008 at 7:26 pm 654 Comments

On December 21, 1997, Barack Obama wrote a short review of William Ayers’ book A Kind and Just Parent: The Children of Juvenile Court, which had recently been published by Beacon Press. Here’s a photo of how the review appeared in the Chicago Tribune:

[picture]

Obama’s review of Ayers’ book says, “A searing and timely account of the juvenile court system, and the courageous individuals who rescue hope from despair.

...

I find it very hard — no, make that impossible — to believe that Barack Obama had “no idea” who William Ayers really was, or that he had a past as a notorious domestic terrorist (as Obama’s campaign has claimed) while serving on panels with Ayers and simultaneously praising Ayers’ book in a major newspaper."

...etc."

*******

A pdf version of a BC. I think Trump should submit his tax returns to the press via PDF and just photoshop out beforehand what he doesn't want anyone to see.

330 328 Why not simply drill a hole or two in the floor of the porch, and spray some insecticide into the crawl space?

Posted by: Alberta Oil Peon at September 16, 2016 12:38 PM (Bvr/A)

Not sure I want to drill a hole through that concrete slab. If it comes down to that I will go down beneath the house and knock out some of the bricks in the front wall. But I really don't want to do that either.

332 Why doesn't anyone blame Obama for this? It was his bio sheet, wasn't it, that said he was born in Kenya?

Posted by: Uma Thurmond's Feet at September 16, 2016 12:44 PM (ArQi2)

333 They are going to try to stretch this out, give it more legs, by rebutting Trump's claims that it started with Clinton. They were made to look foolish and they have no other leg to stand on, so they'll do their best to get him into the weeds on the issue. He'll be smart to stay out of it and demand attention with another speech or rally. Give them something they HAVE to cover that doesn't deal with the birther issue. Impromptu trip to meet a foreign leader? Invitation to Hillary for a strobe-heavy rave at Trump Tower?

335 "Period" - that is straight-up dog-whistle sexism.
Whoever said that should be thrown in prison for the next 8 weeks.

336 I wonder what Hillary will wear to Trump's inaugural? With runaway global warming, perhaps she can get away with a smart pantsuit and no jacket.

337 Who wants to be born in this horrible country anyway?

338 "There really no such thing as earthly Justice.
Instead #NeverTrumper, super-boring, very concerns Chris Stirewalt gets his own show on Fox."

No justice, no ratings. See how long it remains viable.

339 Since the subject of Chris Matthews has been brought up, I want to remind folks of the time back in the 1990s when Hillary Clinton was on Chris Matthews 's show and he kept trying to get her to say that she loved America. Over and over he asked and she would never say the words. The most that she would say was that she loved what America could potentially become.

I wonder if there is YouTube video of that show out there somewhere on the internet.

340 Barack Obama is the world's biggest troll. He deliberately withheld his birth records just so his political enemies would make fools of themselves over it. It was a giant rope-a-dope ploy, and it worked brilliantly.

Posted by: Smallish Bees at September 16, 2016 01:43 PM (YPgXi)

341 According to the president this very morning, he's pretty confident he knows where he was born. "Pretty confident?" Maybe he started the birther movement himself and it's served him well.

342 Rep. James Clyburn called the media "our media" and said it could be fooled. titter titter. Looks like
Rep S.Jackson will be next. Comedy gold.

343 Strange, I never hear this distinction when the media wants to talk about the Willie Horton ad. An ad that Al Gore ran, and a non-Bush-campaign-affiliated PAC ran, but was never put out by the Bush campaign. But *every* time the media talks about Willie Horton they attribute it to Lee Atwater and the Bush campaign. Because, hypocrisy. D.GOOCH

345 Better Trump troll:
Obama himself claimed he was born in Kenya in publicity for his autobiography.
Hillary Clinton's campaign started the whole birther issue in 2008.
But I forced Obama to produce his birth certificate when no one else could. He was born in the USA. End of story.

Posted by: Episodic spasmosis at September 16, 2016 03:16 PM (46ftr)

346 Obama said himself that he once seen his birth certificate (the original, with doctor scribbles and such on it) and there was something that bothered him about it... don't recall the exact quote but think 'bothered' is close enough.

Maybe it was the seven layers of old school typewritten correction tape over the name of the father... just speculating...

347 I like to listen to Mark Levin (although his voice is more annoying than Sarah Palin's). Today he's all like, there was NEVER.ANY.REASON. to imagine that TFG was born in Kenya.

Other than Obama having it on his book blurb for years - and spending a million bucks to seal his college records (to hide a "foreign student scholarship" perhaps) the minute he was elected.

Not to mention that the document that was released after Trump made a stink about it (was that the spring of 2012?) was a fake, demonstrated clearly on the interwebs.

I always wondered why Trump didn't challenge that phony doc at the time.
