4 The high court ruling is the direct result of Scalia being dead. The appelate court ruling is the result of Obama's relentless packing of the courts with communist zealots in black robes. And they were enabled on that by the worthless Republicans in the Senate. So they have to take a big bite of Obama's shit sandwich. The big problem is because we "trusted them in 2012" we have to take a big bite too.

Look I don't know what happened with the child and if she had any cavities or what TX was required without seeing the pre-op Xrays...but that article is bullshit and filled with one inaccuracy and 1/2 truths after another. Word.

When my son was 4 years old the dentist found a cavity. He told me he was going to "watch it" and had us come back in 30 days for a checkup. Well, we get there and the room is prepped to do a filling for him.

At 4 years old.

On a baby tooth.

I gave that dentist what for, accused him of wanting to put a 4 year old through a bunch of shit so he could get himself a payday, all for a tooth with a tiny-assed cavity that I could barely see on the x-ray. He said I was accusing him of not knowing his business, and I said "damned straight, you fucking quack" and walked out.

Took him to a pediatric dentist and she said not to worry about it, it will fall out soon enough. And it did, like a year later.

82 Cool magic trick to impress people at a party.

On a small piece of paper write "Maya Angelou" Fold it and write 1 on the out side. With another piece of paper leave it blank, fold an write 2 on teh outside.

Then find a loud, rabid liberal in the crowd, shouldn't be too hard, and use them as the subject. Tell him/her you have two questions and have already written the answers on these two small sheets of paper. Give them to somebody else that is watching.

Then ask the first question: who is your favorite poet? Of course the answer will be Maya Angelou at which point you open paper #1 with the predicted answer. People will be impressed by your power. Then move on to your second question: Who is your second favorite poet? The subject will undoubtedly not be able to answer with a name, might even stammer a little . Then you open paper # 2 , the blank one, which matches the answer by the liberal. Your powers will confirmed and you are now the life of the party.

If we can't out-vote liberals at least you can use liberal stupidity to your advantage.

I gotta stay up until at least 10 pm to see what kind of reception he gets from the fans.

87 rWhy would black dims want Corey out? She gave them every thing they wanted.

Yeah, I was scratching my head over the tone of the Huffblo piece on her. They made it sound like she intentionally tanked the Zimmerman prosecution by going Man2 instead of Manslaughter, and implied she was overly zelous in other prosecutions. They counted it as a "win" that more than one "law and order" (yeah, wouldn't want any of those...) prosecutors lost their jobs to, heh, "reform minded" prosecutors. I friggin' hate the left.

92 I saw the new Star trek movie last night. I guess it was OK, but it had the usual failings of the new ones.

They had a quick aside which you could take as either Hollywood social engineering, or as simply a nod to the original cast member who played Sulu.

One of the big dramatic moments was recycled from one of the early Star Trek movies, which is almost a requirement now. The worst element of the plot was literally stolen from "Mars Attacks!" (Seriously, guys?)

Along with the ongoing betrayal of Spock's character, the subplot for Kirk is a new betrayal of what he's all about too.

The plot had plenty of action and cool special effects and stuff, of course, but the theme ... well I couldn't even tell you what it was. It all seemed kind of meaningless, and not very clever. But if you have to have your Star Wars fix, it's passable, I guess.

We actually first met at a Moron Meet-up. I had been going to the same dentist for, I dunno, more than 15 years. I had no complaints, but for the last few years, I noticed that they were constantly trying to add services to our visits or monetize them - Weird stuff, too, that really didn't have anything to do with dentistry. ( um, Thanks, I really do not want my dentist to offer me botox.) I also noticed that the office staff kept growing and the office kept looking more and more like a country club . It was getting to be sell, sell, sell and prices were out of hand. Did I mention that one of the dentists in that practice had four ex-wives? At the Moron Meetup, I asked NGU a few simple questions about pricing and practices in general and he seemed like a really nice guy who actually cares about his patients. That's all there was to it. Oh, and he's only got ONE wife, so there's that , too.

That's pretty funny and no doubt it would work with a lot of people. However, my mother was a liberal and an English professor. She wouldn't be on board with this incredible slide to the left, I think (She died some time ago) but if you were to ask her favorite poets she would probably say:

1. George Herbert or John Donne

2. Wordsworth

So you probably shouldn't ask any liberal English professors. :^)

131 "Late primary update: Angela Corey got crushed in her bid for reelection
as State Attorney. She's the prosecutor who engineered the Trayvon
Martin fiasco. She is the first State Attorney in Florida history to
lose a reelection bid."

Well, more correctly, the FL political establishment from GOP Gov. Rick Scott on down engineered the Trayvon Martin fiasco.

It was pretty simple. Florida's black community said they wanted a conviction for murder. Not a prosecution for murder, mind you. They wanted a conviction. A guaranteed, locked-in, sure-thing conviction. They said this. Openly. Repeatedly. Loudly.

And, they said, if they didn't get it, there was going to be "urban unrest" that would wreck FL as a tourist destination. Including going after the Disney properties.

The Florida establishment completely panicked and internally decreed that there was to be a conviction, to be engineered as reliably and as rapidly as possible. Especially after they heard from Disney corporate, who said to hang George Zimmerman from the tallest tree in town, and not to tarry in doing so. The Mouse swings a big stick in FL.

That's why they put Corey on this in the first place. They figured she had the best possible odds of producing the desired conviction. And man, did she try. So hard that she essentially threw out all ethical constraints normally observed by professional prosecutors.

And then... the facts won out in court. Against all odds.

139 Mexicos president rebuked Donald Trump as a threat to his country just hours after painting a positive picture of talks the two held on Wednesday to try to defuse tensions over the U.S. presidential hopefuls anti-Mexican campaign rhetoric.

President Enrique Pena Nieto had on Wednesday afternoon hailed as open and constructive the impromptu meeting he held with Trump, who later referred to the Mexican leader as his friend and a wonderful president.

But in a late evening television interview, an angry-looking Pena Nieto sought to defend himself against a broad swathe of criticism for his decision to invite the Republican candidate despite his repeated verbal attacks on Mexico.

His policy stances could represent a huge threat to Mexico, and I am not prepared to keep my arms crossed and do nothing, Pena Nieto said. That risk, that threat, must be confronted. I told him that is not the way to build a mutually beneficial relationship for both nations.

What a Putz and typical Politician.

142 Some people are concerned that Trump's policy of seeing what to do with those who are left after the measures he's calling for are implemented.

How many will be left after:
1) the bonus point criminals are gone (those who broke other laws on top of the immigration ones)
2) one's receiving welfare or benefits are cut-off,
3) those who can't find work due to the application of e-verify and leave for greener pastures.
4) the wall and other security measures (more agents and other technologies, on the border) and the lack of pathways help stop the inflow.

Those four things right there will take care of the biggest problems and probably the majority as well. Then have a scan and make a plan for the rest. What's not to like?

165 "His policy stances could represent a huge threat to Mexico, and I am not
prepared to keep my arms crossed and do nothing, Pena Nieto said."

There's all this talk about Trump taxing remittances and about all of the money that those put into the Mexican economy. And how it would be a gut shot to Mexico if that practice were to stop.

Hello? As noted a couple of years ago in the book _Down By The River_, about narcotraficante smuggling over the southern border, illegal drugs basically ARE the Mexican economy.

Drug money dwarfs every other sector in Mexico... combined.

Put together remittances, tourism money, PEMEX, agriculture, manufacturing, and those all still do not bring in as much cash to the Mexican economy, treasury and banks as illegal narcotics bring in.

That's what they're really scared of. Losing that windfall.

178 One problem with dentists (and not only dentists, but many other health professions) is that individuals who go into a given field generally have been led to expect a certain income. When they get into practice there is then a certain pressure to generate enough revenue to produce the income to which one feels he deserves.

If the natural level of demand in that practice does not generate enough revenue the dentist/doctor goes through whatever moral gymnastics they need to in order to justify practices that are purely revenue-generating.

Perverse incentives of a sort.

O'Mara, and Don West.

They played a perfect tag team.

And they understood theatrics. The defense needed to show the jurors that the purportedly pursued Trayvon Martin could, if he wanted to, have just gone easily and directly back to where he was staying. Disappearing discreetly indoors and never having come into contact with George Zimmerman at all.

O'Mara laid out from the 9-1-1 call how Trayvon had over four full minutes where Zimmerman was not in proximity to him.

And O'Mara then simply stood, silently, before the jury box, for four full minutes. Brilliant.

Letting the jurors realize that Trayvon had plenty of time to get away from Zimmerman IF HE HAD IN FACT WANTED TO DO THAT, and instead must have opted to go back to provoke a confrontation.

The first vet I worked for was honest as the day is long, and never pulled a tooth unless it was necessary. The second vet I worked with was a jerk and would pull everything in sight just to make a buck. I once saw him pull nine perfectly fine teeth. He was all about the money. When that whole thing went down, I intentionally tried to ignore it as best I could, because I learned during the OJ trial what crap TV news coverage of trials is.

But when it got down to the closing arguments, I finally decided that it was worth two or three hours to get the scoop "from the horse's mouth."

I ALMOST felt sorry for the prosecution. Their whole case was the claim that Zimmerman "had hatred in his heart", or something like that, without so much as giving any evidence whatsoever to even try to support that claim. I was still surprised with the verdict; I thought for sure the fix was in. there was no way there should have even been a trial.

In the final analysis it seems obvious that when Zimmerman saw somebody suspicious, he called the cops. When Trayvon saw someone suspicious, he called his girlfriend, and the punk apparently decided to impress his girlfriend (who later felt too guilty about it to attend the funeral) and teach "that cracka" a lesson by trying to beat him within an inch of his life. FL law only requires you feel threatened with bodily harm - Zimmerman actual WAS bodily harmed, and the physical evidence made that obvious. Trayvon was a criminal, and deserves a Darwin Award. Naturally, that means he's a hero to the anti-law Democratic Party, and mom was on display at the DNC. A Dem congressman wanted to name a US Navy ship after him.

GOP Establishment is officially in league with the anti-rule-of-law party, and expects everything to wonderful for them, with their self-described uber-virtuous positions on things, once they help Hillary win. Can't let it happen, folks! Their mask is off!!

231 There's all this talk about Trump taxing remittances and about all of the money that those put into the Mexican economy. And how it would be a gut shot to Mexico if that practice were to stop.
*****

Thing is, there is a lot of truth to this. You go into any Mexican part of town in any US city and you will see signs like "Banco Popular" and the like, that is, Mexican bank branches. What is happening is that the illegals are using these banks to send back to Mexico a portion of their income. They then work here a few months, then go back home, and live off their accumulated tax free earnings for a few months until the money runs out, then they sneak back over there and do it over again. (Bear in mind that the cost of living in Mexico is WAY lower than it is here, and they make the most of it.)

I'd love it if Trump started taxing all those funds transfers back to old Mexico, as that would go a long way towards getting a lot of them to frigging leave.

also, what I see in this area is the mega-practice, where the practice by t's very nature must generate $20K or above per day just to break even.

Whereas, with a smaller but less, majestic(?) practice, and well run practice they could make the exact same amount.

You wouldn't know it, listening to the pundits, but Trump has a couple of really important things going for him. (1) He's scary-smart and (2) He's wise enough to seek out people who know what they're doing, and LISTEN to what they tell him (not that he always follows it to the letter - he takes the input and processes it accordingly).

If he actually pulls this thing off, one of the great things about him is that he's not married to ideology (or to his own ego, despite what they say) - if something doesn't work, he changes course. He might turn out to be a genuinely great POTUS.

Taking hubby to the cardiologist, my dog is failing, and the best friend, who suddenly developed great respect for Hillary Clinton, after being a die-hard conservative (Go women!) has decided to switch from teaching social studies (which she taught for 14 years, and did a wonderful job) to science. I was in college with this woman. She took one science course -general science-for non science majors. Her degree is in Communications. She has NO science background. She was asking her dad about the period table a dinner last night as prep. She starts teaching this week. And her administration went, yeah, that's a great idea, let's do it!!!

Apple set up the office over there for a reason, namely the business climate. The proper response to this is to make laws such that the business climate here is better than in the EU and Apple moves back (and brings their jobs and tax dollars back with them).

Sure, this sucks for Apple and the people in the EU that are going to lose out, but it's not our fault that the EU is going to inflict this on themselves, or our fault that Apple got in bed with the wrong government.

I fail to see how we're supposed to be sympathetic to anyone in this scenario.
