For the realtor, you could go to a local realtor that you trust and ask them to recommend someone. They can check to see who the top realtors are in your new area, and they will gladly help because they'll get a referral fee.

28 Reposted from the moribund ONT:

Our cat Benny is missing. He must have dashed out when we came home from the store. He hasn't done that in five years. But his best pal Adam, our beloved Maine coon known to the Yahoo group, passed away suddenly on Mother's Day, only six years old, with only three days' notice, of a vicious cancer, and Benny and I have both been knocked out of orbit ever since. I fear Benny has gone looking for him.

If you pray, please pray for Benny's return.

I am sorry to be a downer, but I know no other resource of so many good people, and we need all the help we can get now.

If Benny is chipped, call your local Animal Control so they can be on the look out. Put a lost cat ad on Craigs List. Posters in the neighborhood. Don't be afraid to take a picture of him and go door to door either.

There are still kind hearted people out there who will take kittehs in thinking they are lost.

With all your good wishes, and by "your" I mean all of you I've found common cause and great comfort from these past eight-plus years here in these pages, I am exponentially more confident than I was when I first posted.

I suppose it is quite revealing that the only blogs I've stuck with since, oh, 2005, are this blog and a blog dedicated to the Angels baseball team.

And as I've gathered that most of you wish California would sink into the sea with the next tremor, I gather I'm a rara avis here.

For an attorney just wait around the local ER and see what floats in behind the ambalamps when they roll in. As far as real estate agents, check your local watering holes and dive bars around 5, sure to be plenty bellied up to the bar.

About twenty-five years ago, The National Interest published 'The End of History' - Francis Fukuyama's extremely influential article arguing that liberal democracy had defeated all rivals and become the only plausible form of politics for the nations of the world. Agreement had been reached, wrote Fukuyama, on the essential features of good government: rule of the people, tempered by a robust commitment to civil liberties; civilian control of the military; market economics; and free trade among nations.

(instapundit.com)

So we have aceived that right? The Liberals have won, Conservatives have ben silenced and proven wrong. Capitalism has failed, and peace reigns throughout the world.

Right?

What about a nice Panama hat to cover up the hair loss from chemo? I'm not quite the John Wayne type, and don't want to look "all hat no cattle."

do.

Posted by: FenelonSpoke at August 21, 2016 08:29 AM (6HqlZ)

I grew up in the FingerLakes, and yes it a great place with all the tourist spots and lakes, but after dairy farming went into deline (as is many other places, with the few very large farms taking over) it is hard to find jobs. Most of my relatives either work for local government, schools, etc. A cousin is a lumber guy cutting trees, makes a good but dangerous living. Had a bad injury last fall with a tree hitting him. Of course the wine industry employees a lot of people, but mostly seasonal.....

99 Otis, I hope Benny comes back soon.

We didn't realize our completely indoor cat had chewed a hole in the screen of one of those tiny glass block window vents that we always kept open for fresh air in the basement. She was coming and going at will for about a week and I couldn't figure out why she never seemed to be around much or why she smelled so differently. I thought maybe she was sick, but she was still eating. Then it rained! Muddy paws ruined her good time, lol.

Point is, she always came home for her wet food feeding in the a.m. Is there a special feeding time or treat that would lure Benny home?

It has been removed from The Methodist Hymnal as too closely associated with the military. When I mention this to fellow Methodists who have known the hymn for decades, their reaction is "What?!"

Science with government money for political reasons.

Government corrupts everything it touches because every decision is based on political reasons. And when government becomes powerful, ambitious men lust after that power. It enriches them personnally, and that is what it is all about; ambition, lust for power, lust for personal wealth.

116 The Jewish father of the Reich's first lady
Following the discovery of a document in the Berlin archives concerning Magda Goebbel's biological father, new light has been shed on the wife of one of Nazi Germany's most notorious figures.

Until now, it has been accepted that Magda's mother, Auguste Behrend, was impregnated with Magda by engineer Oskar Ritshel in 1901, before the couple were married. On Magda's birth certificate however, only her mother's name is listed. In 1904, they divorced and Auguste remarried four years later to a Jewish businessman named Richard Friedlander, and moved with him to Brussels.

The new document is actually Friedlander's residency card, in which he wrote that Magda is his biological daughter. This hints that Magda did indeed attempt to blur her Jewish connection through her mother's second marriage. With her marriage to one of Adolf Hitler's senior regime figures, she received the many social and personal benefits that were fitting of such a position in the Third Reich.

When the Nazis came to power, Friedlander was arrested and later sent to Buchenwald. Magda did not attempt to save him, but rather continued to keep her Jewish connection secret. Friedlander died in Buchenwald in 1939.
