Trump Starts Running First General Election Campaign Ad

It's not subtle, and I don't think it ought to be.

Fun Fact

For his first major TV commercial of the campaign Donald Trump has tapped actor Bruce McGill to perform his voiceover. McGill doesnt appear in the ad; he just intones portentous warnings on the order of Donald Trumps America is secure; terrorists and dangerous criminals kept out.

McGill is probably best known for his turn as D-Day in the film Animal House.

I don't believe Trump is a conservative, but his ads certainly offer a stark contrast to the Dems.

Hell, two years ago.

I know he sorta ran in 2012 and didn't get far, but last year when he gave children rides in his helicopter at the Iowa State Fair, I thought, "Wow, he's good at this." I mean, it was sort of like the 21st century billionaire's equivalent of kissing babies.

Then when he started talking about the border wall and restricting Muslim immigration, I thought, "He can win this." Throughout the primaries I kept saying that I thought that he was the only Republican nominee who could potentially win by a landslide.

I'm not predicting anything, though. The situation is too unsettled, and he has the Democrats, the GOPe, and the media pulling out all the stops to prevent him from winning. I think the vote fraud will be of epic proportions, and the GOPe will be in on it.

100 I know that everyone slams Trump for his past "politics" but is it possible that he has evolved? I'm not talking about flip-flopping. I'm talking about a realization that something needs to be done and it's not what's going on now. From all accounts people seem to have the sense that he really cares and that he loves this country. I mean after all, how many of us have gone from liberal to the right??? Many of us. I was what you'd call a liberal when I was younger but now I am a conservative libertarian. Actually, quite conservative myself but I don't really care what anyone does as long as it doesn't hurt my family and it's not forced on me. I know it's possible for people to change views, so why couldn't Trump if his present actions reflect that change. FWIW, I was a Cruz supporter and will still vote for him as a senator.

The elder Guevara is intellectual and adduces charts, graphs, and tables to his arguments. 155 Anecdotal, but during our driving vacation from the deep South to Niagara Falls my wife noted how few Hispanics she saw packed in white work vans stacked with ladders, pulling trailers full of lawn care equipment, or waiting in parking lots of big box stores for day labor opportunities. FWIW, it's very amusing when you just saw one of the seven wonders of the world and your conversation stays on there not being dozens of people standing in the corner of the Lowe's parking lot you just passed.

It made a lot more sense why so many Americans don't view illegals as a problem.

156 DIMONDALE -- On his second visit to Michigan in two weeks, Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump on Friday blasted Democratic policies he said have destroyed Detroit and other urban centers and called for African Americans to support him, saying blacks cannot expect change otherwise.

Accusing Clinton of preferring polices that would help refugees instead of blacks who have become "refugees in their own country," a feisty Trump promised job creation and a revitalization of manufacturing centers, saying Democrats are all "talk, talk, talk."

"Only a change in leadership will produce a change in outcomes," he thundered before a raucous suburban audience.

I voted for Carter in 1976, my first election, but I was a flaming socialist in my 20s. During the 1980s I voted for more than one third party leftist candidate because the Democrats were too tame for me. I discovered Ayn Rand in the late 1990s and devoured everything she wrote that I could get my hands on.

I was a Libertarian Party member for a few years, but voted for Bush in 2000 because Gore needed to be stopped. I left the LP and registered Republican after 9/11 because I thought their non-interventionist position was too doctrinaire in the wake of that attack. (I was in the "Nuke Mecca" crowd.)

I've literally been all over the map politically. What a long, strange trip it's been.

He must win OH, FL, and PA. I haven't seen one ad, I haven't been called once. I think the guy's trying to win while spending the minimum possible amount of money. This is not the time to be frugal.

Ben: I'm pretty sure more good can be done with an ad on a TV network that a couple of million people are watching, than can be done at a rally of 8000 at which you're already preaching to the fucking choir. Otherwise you wouldn't see Budweiser ads on TV, they'd just stage beer rallies every once in a while.

180 I will likely hold nose and vote trump, but his commercial strikes me as someothing from Robo Cop where the mil/industrial complex rules.........Cn't believe I said that and actually feel reasonably sane.

181 "My coworker is blinded by emotion. He will not listen to reason nor fact. He believes the poor Mexicans have a right to come and live here. He believes that Americans can go to Mexico and live and work illegally without issue. It's a shame really. I've hopefully convinced him to vote for Jill Stein."

To DangerGirl:

Here's what you say to him. Look up the facts first but...

tell him that for every 100,000 illegals that successfully cross over the border - 100 American citizens are killed.

So unless he volunteers either himself, his wife, or his children to be one of the 100 Americans killed per 100,000 then he needs to STFU and vote to secure the border because he doesn't get to volunteer somebody else's husband/wife/or child.

Actually, make it only his children that he is allowed to volunteer.

182 Flawless, I'm in Ohio. I'd better see this ad, and a whole bunch more like it, soon, or Trump has no chance.
He must win OH, FL, and PA. I haven't seen one ad, I haven't been called once. I think the guy's trying to win while spending the minimum possible amount of money. This is not the time to be frugal.

Ben: I'm pretty sure more good can be done with an ad on a TV network that a couple of million people are watching, than can be done at a rally of 8000 at which you're already preaching to the fucking choir...

Just saw the ad. First I've seen here from the Trump campaign directly, but we've seen a bunch from supportive PACs.

It's all right, addresses one issue. But they could do more, there's so much material out there.

183 And tell him he's very magnanimous and generous with the lives of OTHER peoples kids.

Let him virtue signal how special he is to volunteer somebody else's children to be murdered.

184 "I haven't seen one ad, I haven't been called once. I think the guy's trying to win while spending the minimum possible amount of money. This is not the time to be frugal."

Consider the possibility he will do the minimum necessary to say even now, while shrillary is going broke. Then he floods the air with ads in the last month before the election.

We allow morons to vote that change their minds frequently based on the last sound bite they hear.

185 Or tell your co-worker that you volunteer for a homeless shelter for illegals and they have hundreds of families that need families to volunteer their homes to them.

And tell him you are geeked and that all you need is his address and you'll add him to the top of the list of volunteers to shelter them.

186 In case no one said this yet...SWEEP THE FUCKING LEG TRUMP!!

Good start.

Army vs Navy in OKC?

Outside of a few outlier like SEALS and Gunners Mates, most in the Navy suck at personal service weapons.

That's because if you have to use a 5 inch, 54 caliber Mark 45 Mod 1 naval gun, with a direct fire range of about 8 nautical miles, they are too close.

Make it an argument on who has the better stand-off weapons. Then you have a valid feud topic.

189 Save America
VOTE TRUMP

190 As Forest Gump would say..."I like it a lot!"

Simple commentary, excellent imagery, especially of the the train car topped with illegals waving at the camera.

The battleship Wisconsin in Norfolk harbor is a great representation of America's strength.

We need more. A lot more. Run this in every Rust Belt state until Election Day.

Also need an ad that is simply a loop of Hitlary saying "What difference, at this point, does it make?"
