2 Good Morning Morons. Today is Sunday, August 14, 2016. On this day in 1935 Franklin D. Roosevelt signed the Social Security Act, creating a government pension system for the retired. At least that is what Wiki says and it is absolute horseshit for everything but the date. SS was NEVER intended, even by commie FDR, as a "government pension act". One could not live entirely on SS in 1935 and you sure as hell can not do it now. An second of all, it's primary purpose was to get another tax to help fund his socialist programs (like this one). The tax was immediate, the payouts would come later. The second primary purpose was to advance the socialist regime of FDR.

On my first job after I got out of the Navy, having endured years in the South China seas, the Indian Ocean, and others where the injection temperature was in the 90s and Engine Room temps ran 110F my first job involved standing watch outside all night with temps running around 16F. And I had not owned a pair of long-johns for 20 years.

It's bad enough for humans but worse for teh kittehs. Teh kittehs don't sweat like humans and can't take off their fur coats. I've been doing my best to keep them cool (have only one room with an A/C unit) with fans and plenty of drinking water, but they still spend most of the time sleeping (and probably dreaming of winter).

I smell a rat with the imam murder. "Backlash" crimes seem to me to happen drive-by style. These two were gunned down at close range, and both shot in the head. Plus it was in their own neighborhood which is predominantly minorities and Muslims, so the odds of a white guy intentionally going there, on foot in broad daylight and doing this to me seem rather low. It was more than likely a local.

After everything we've been through with Traytable, Saint Swisher and Loosie Goosey, I'll wait until all the facts are in. And the fact that Trump and Giuliani are being blamed means political grandstanding for now.

We'll know for sure once the story disappears in a few days.

I just had to explain to my mother why I don't trust her doctor's office to do anything correctly without very explicit instructions. I brought up the incident a few weeks ago when she called them about a procedure that never got scheduled and they were supposed to call her back about it but never did. She had completely blanked on the matter.

My mother is a fair bit older than Pelosi and never was somebody who'd have been able to talk her way into high office but I'll bet Nancy would be fairly lost if her assistants didn't show up for work one day.

In 1968 after Robert Kennedy and Martin Luther King were shot, something had to be done so New York City required that all rifles and shotguns in the city had to be registered. At the time they promised that the registration information would never be used for confiscation.

Several decades later during the Dinkins administration a tourist was stabbed to death during a robbery by an urban youth who was turning his life around and the publicity from the murder was adversely affecting income and taxes as tourists decided to go somewhere else where they were less likely to be randomly killed. Something had to be done but arresting and prosecuting urban youths who were turning their lives around would have upset the constituencies who voted for Dinkins so something else had to be done. That something was to ban semiautomatic rifles and shotguns in New York City and the police used the gun registration lists to inform owners that they had a limited time to either show a receipt that they had sold their guns or to turn them in to the police for confiscation.

When gun owners objected that they had been promised that the registration lists would never be used for confiscation, Dinkins replied with the absolutely priceless answer, "I never promised that."

I have an in-law that is from Scotland. She and my BIL are pretty open about having married initially because she had overstayed her work visa and was going to be deported. That's illegal as shit, but there was absolutely zero questioning or any vetting when she applied for her new residency stuff after marrying my BIL. I never disliked Nixon. He certainly mishandled the Watergate imbroglio, but in the big scheme of things, that was a nothing burger.

The guy was a brilliant, experienced, engaged statesman compared to the current crop of pygmies. And, he was handed the steaming pile of shit that Viet Nam was.

The treatment of Nixon was the first real evidence that the media and Democrat insiders no longer had any interest in the well-being of The Republic, but only the furtherance of their party/philosophy.

'The Selling of the President' became one the handbooks of the Left. I doubt that will happen. They've been shitting in their own nest on the North Side for decades.But it's been pretty well confined to that area.

It's funny - I didn't have the radio on when I drove home from my sister's place in the 'burbs and I didn't turn on the TV when I got home, so I would have known nothing about this until this morning until a Moron mentioned it in the ONT. A couple of friends in other parts of the country have texted me asking are you OK? Looks like all hell broke loose there. Ha, it's completely quiet and peaceful here - the news reports are making it look like the entire city is aflame. It's confined to a very small area.

After spending a week researching how to fix this damn $400 Roomba without spending $400 again - including refurb units, new motherboards, and new batteries - you finally decide to call the place where you bought it. That place called Hammacher Schlemmer. They have a funny name, but they have an awesome warranty. They claim it's for life, and it's for any reason.

So I called them and told the truth. My Roomba found dog poop and almost precipitated World War III.

And you know what they did? They offered to replace it. Yes, folks. They are replacing the Roomba that ran over dog poop and then died a poopy, watery death in the bathtub - by no fault of their own, of course.

So, mad props to Hammacher Schlemmer. If you're buying anything expensive, and they sell it, I recommend buying it from them. And remember - don't let your Roomba run over dog poop.
