Good news: I got a bonus.

Bad news: The government got a bonus.

With my cut, I can afford to buy little girl a few packages of stickers at the dollar store. Luckily, at 2.5 years, she finds stickers to be amazing.

Today is the tomato festival in Kingsport. The wife, the toddler and I will sample the very best (& worst) to be had, and then go ride the carousel.

It will be a good day.

3 Good Morning Morons. Today is Saturday, August 13, 2016. On this day in 1942 Major General Eugene Reybold of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers authorized the construction of facilities that would house the "Development of Substitute Materials" project, better known as the Manhattan Project. Little did they know that the Russians had already penetrated the creation of this project and were spying on it in 1941.

Well here is why they are trying silence her, and it not just because she says that sun fluctuations are causing earth temperature fluctuations. She is predicted that you had better buckle down after this Summer because there is a Winter coming that the world hasn't seen the likes of since the mini-ice age. And let me tell you something that the students of history already know. That event was a massive disaster for Europe (and probably elsewhere that we have no recorded history of). I know what you mean. Had employees who didn't want to work overtime because they were on the edge of one bracket. I finally fixed the issue by going to Individual flat rate tax - it's one of many permissible ways the irs permits employers to calculate taxes. Win, win for everyone.

Some employees might be 5% some 10% - depended on their circumstances like home ownership, wife working, etc.

Apizza is actually a strange mash-up of the Italian word "pizza" and the NYC Italo-American pronunciation "apizz" which sounds like "ah-beets."

That said, I have no idea about the food there. If the place is run by a genuine Italian "pizzaiolo" you're in good shape.

I take the opposing view on the electoral college thing. The way it is now States like PA which we just looked at always go to the Dems. In the last case they won by 300K votes largely through vote fraud. Obama got ALL 20 electoral votes. If we voted nationwide totals the Republicans would have got almost 50% of that State instead of nothing. And the "blue States" have more electoral votes than the red. IIRC 8 out of the top 10 population States are blue.

If you mean polls, I think Trump is behind in many of them. That said, Rush mentioned an interesting poll from Bloomberg that asked the following:

Which statement do you most agree with:

A) The nation is in dire straits, the economy is in horrible shape and our national security is being threatened from inside our borders and abroad.

B) The nation is doing well, the economy is adding more and more jobs and our national security is strong and getting stronger.

57% said A, 39% said B, and 4% were not sure.

A = a Trump quote

B = a Clinton quote

Some analyst said that if Trump wins, this polling question will probably be the underlying reason why.

If I had to venture a guess as to what they were being paid in todays dollars, based on what I paid for similar job -- about $50, 000 a year. They're not making that at Wallmart.

I have to guess that many still hold residual hostility to those people like Bill Clinton, who made the good times go away. Hillary Clinton will be no different, especially with TPP support that her hedge fund contributors -- 45 million at last count -- want so bad.

100 Trump has beem putting his readong glasses on and reading this at rallies:
On her way to work one morning, down the path along side the lake.
A tender-hearted woman saw a poor, half-frozen snake.
His pretty colored skin had been all frosted with the dew.
"Oh well," she cried, "I'll take you in and I'll take care of you."
"Take me in, oh tender woman.Take me in, for heaven's sake.
Take me in, oh tender woman," sighed the vicious snake.
She wrapped him all cozy in a curvature of silk.
And then laid him by her fireside with some honey and some milk.
Now she hurried home from work that night and soon as she arrived,
She found that pretty snake she'd taken in and revived.
"Take me in, oh tender woman.Take me in, for heaven's sake.
Take me in, oh tender woman," sighed the vicious snake.
Now she clutched him to her bosom."You're so beautiful," she cried.
"But if I hadn't brought you in by now you would have died."
She stroked his pretty skin again and then she kissed and held him tight.
Instead of saying, "thank you," that snake gave her a vicious bite.

115 Moar good news on OBungleCare, reported by the AP no less.

To date, 31 of the 57 states have expanded their Medicaid rolls; the free 100% federal ride ends at the end of this year, so the states will have to start kicking in a small but steadily increasing percentage as of 2017.

But here's where it gets even better -- It seems that after a spike in the cost per enrollee in 2014, the experts expected that cost/person to drop in 2015. Bwahaha, it jumped again in 2015, and is now running 49% higher than originally estimated. And since the Medicaid enrollment figures are ALSO running much higher than expected,

if you live in one of the happy go lucky 31 states that signed on, your state budget outlook for 2017 and onward just got a lot worse.

Posted by: GnuBreed at August 13, 2016 08:15 AM (gyKtp)

116 I'm old enough to remember when NAFTA went through and I agree with a lot of what Trump says about it BUT one thing I don't hear anyone talking about is one of the main drivers behind US companies going abroad for low cost labor and that is UNIONS. Unions during the 70s and 80s drove up wages significantly and in many cases, more than was warranted for the work being done. The private unions haven't gone away, although they are significantly less powerful than before. If Trump wins, I wonder how he'll handle this since a lot of his working class base are either in unions now, or were. A company still has to make a profit or no jobs.

The PhD was in Global Governance (alternatively reported as 'International Relationsh') with an emphasis in Global Health. (presumably where HRC got the public health nonsense)
