Bad news: The government got a bonus. With my cut, I can afford to buy little girl a few packages of stickers at the dollar store. Luckily, at 2.5 years, she finds stickers to be amazing. Today is the tomato festival in Kingsport. The wife, the toddler and I will sample the very best (& worst) to be had, and then go ride the carousel. It will be a good day.Comments

Which is why I used to hate working overtime back when I got paid for it. I actually had one paycheck when working 100 hours weeks on a major rush project where my net regular pay was negative. They took out all taxes and deductions from normal pay.
But later I was reclassified and no longer got paid for overtime. I quit working those 100 hour weeks.

I know what you mean. Had employees who didn't want to work overtime because they were on the edge of one bracket. I finally fixed the issue by going to Individual flat rate tax - it's one of many permissible ways the irs permits employers to calculate taxes. Win, win for everyone.
Some employees might be 5% some 10% - depended on their circumstances like home ownership, wife working, etc.

When I go through there I am usually on my way to middle GA which is about a 5 hour drive. Even longer sometimes because wifey has to hit the bathrooms every two hours. So a side trip to a pizza place is probably not in the works.

I take the opposing view on the electoral college thing. The way it is now States like PA which we just looked at always go to the Dems. In the last case they won by 300K votes largely through vote fraud. Obama got ALL 20 electoral votes. If we voted nationwide totals the Republicans would have got almost 50% of that State instead of nothing. And the "blue States" have more electoral votes than the red. IIRC 8 out of the top 10 population States are blue.

Which statement do you most agree with:

57% said A, 39% said B, and 4% were not sure.
A = a Trump quote
B = a Clinton quote

And really, it's those last two numbers that show just how massively difficult Trump's path to the presidency is right now. Because without Colorado and Virginia and a third state where he trails by double digits, Pennsylvania he's all but sunk.

To date, 31 of the 57 states have expanded their Medicaid rolls; the free 100% federal ride ends at the end of this year, so the states will have to start kicking in a small but steadily increasing percentage as of 2017.
But here's where it gets even better -- It seems that after a spike in the cost per enrollee in 2014, the experts expected that cost/person to drop in 2015. Bwahaha, it jumped again in 2015, and is now running 49% higher than originally estimated. And since the Medicaid enrollment figures are ALSO running much higher than expected,
if you live in one of the happy go lucky 31 states that signed on, your state budget outlook for 2017 and onward just got a lot worse.

I don't think many voters changed their vote over this stunt. Hilary is doing well painting Trump as crazy. Not so well with much else. Dilbert guy thinks she is getting expert advice from someone outside of the DC bubble on the crazy angle.
Trump seems to be motivating the Republican base and the Republican GOPe by reminding them they have more to lose than he does. Not clear if it is working yet. The GOPe has a bad case of believing its poop-don't-smell. The base has a bad case of acting like the horse in Animal Farm.

As I understand it, DDT is not a panacea, to just broadcast spray everywhere, but is a very useful tool that is (at least used to be) very cheap.
It was probably massive overuse that may have caused some actual problems (brown pelicans use feet to warm eggs, higher concentrations of DDT was a legit concern, I think), but the Silent Spring stuff was hyped and did a lot of harm. The EnviroTerrorists learned they could shape major policy with their green propaganda.
As with all chemical treatments, there has to be a protocol, which usually means not overusing just one approach.
