Oh! My Goddess was one of the first manga I ever read, so I'll always have a soft spot for it, but it wasn't great. His more recent slice-of-life manga Paradise Residence was much better IMO, but he decided to end that early to write a manga about auto racing, which is his passion. So I guess I can't blame him for writing about what he loves.

There is only one Talking Heads version of TMTTR. The original studio recording. It's perfect and all subsequent live versions seem to stray too far from what made the original so great, which was slow and simple.

Nah. Too uptempo and too gimmicky. It's the big disappointment in that concert. The version of Once In A Lifetime is awesome though, even with the change of tempo. It works for OIAL. TMTTR sounds best when done so slow it almost falls apart. The sloooowwww groove.

I'll give it a try. I found a Mozilla-based browser from Comodo that's supposed to be pretty secure. It's running well so far. It also doesn't have the formatting issues I always deal with when posting here in Pale Moon.

I downloaded, installed and launched SlimJet...and the same problem occurred. When opened the settings page, the browser crashed.
I used Revo Uninstaller to get rid of all traces of Google Chrome and the Chrome-based browsers I'd also tried. It seems if it's built on Chromium, it's not working on my PC.

Pixyware can cause unexpected results when using copy and paste. Anytime I am using paste, even if I am copying something from right here, I run it through iconv. That's a command line tool, but there is a website setup that uses it:
http://cafewebmaster.com/online_tools/charset_converter
Just change the "to" dropdown to ISO-8859-1 and it will strip out embedded links, unprintable characters, italics, etc. It will also convert forbidden non-ascii characters to their ascii counterparts. Like turning curly quotes to straight quotes.

I'm considering using it as a practice gun, as long as I don't screw up the shootibility, everything should be reversible, or at least something I can live with.

Well, if Turnbull were to case-harden the receiver, polish and blue the barrel and other bits, fit some pretty wood onto it, then she'd not be so Plain Jane anymore, right?
Don't tell your wife what it'd cost, though.
Seriously though. Try the Cera-Kote "Gun-Blue" coating. It comes pretty close to looking like a first class polish and blue. Very deep blue/black finish.
Pay your dues with the polishing job first, of course.
Then, seeing it's just a training gun, install a Williams peep sight onto the receiver, and find a reputable gunsmith, one known to the SASS types in your area, to polish and slick-up the action and to give the rifle a truly good, crisp trigger.
Take the wood down to bare, and build up a good oil finish on the stock and fore end. Everyone thinks you have to use Linseed oil on a gunstock, but frankly, Tung oil works fine too.
You'll end up with a hunting-fighting worthy, slick and fast Marlin, with a tough, durable finish on the metal, and a tough, repairable finish on the wood.
Be sure to install a Q.D. type sling stud into the stock, and fix it's counterpart onto the barrel band on the fore end.
You'll end up making it an heirloom in it's own right, just because of the love and labor you've put into it.

True on all counts, but you'd not find instructions to use solid core wire in any Heathkit manual, since, I think, ever?
Solid core isn't awful, when used to build a 1930s type, chassis & tube, furniture type radio, like the family gathered around to listen to FDR's Fireside Speeches.
No movement, no vibration, no more relative stress on the system than the household wiring, itself.
But a tabletop radio is meant to be moved, and movement calls for stranded. And of course, damn near 100% of all early mobile wireless was stranded, likely all the way back to the Titanic. Much less the early radios offered as option on some of the very cars you've bought and restored.
And yes, the I/O leads from most of the components are solid, but of a short enough length to not become a part of a movement harmonic, and they're also meant to be securely affixed to their underlying circuit boards, withal.
So, the history of antique radios aside, my point stands as to Achmed' likely proving to be a complete fvckup at the bench, in front of a jury, well prepared by competent council.

Oh, agreed upon that. But Heathkit made many, many kits that didn't use circuit boards, and solid-core wire is just fine for point-to-point wiring between the solder lugs on tube sockets under the chassis of a radio. And solid-core wire lends itself better to being laid out in neat rectilinear patterns(making certain, of course, not to make close and parallel wires that might couple in a feedback loop).
Achmed, if he were very, very careful, and literate (and that we do not know) might be able to put a Heathkit together. They, were, after all, designed to be assembled by hobbyists, with no formal electronic training. But I will bet you, it's a lead-pipe cinch that if the project didn't work from the git-go, he wouldn't have a clue about how to trouble-shoot it.
Still, it would be great fun to give him the challenge.

My assertion is that Achmed wouldn't even be in possession of enough know-how to properly twist and tin a stranded wire, in preparation for executing an acceptable solder joint, at all.
And if he was faced with a solid wire anyway, I'd wager that he'd heat apply the tip of the iron to the wrong bit of the assembly, too.

Heh. Actually, I think Heathkit supplied the wire. And, really, for most kits, excluding ones that run VHF, or very large currents, most any easily-soldered wire from about #12 to #22, would work fine, if the assembly technique were adapted to accommodate it.
But, yeah, cold-soldered joints, cooked components, and parts installed without respect to polarity, for sure.

Instead of sucking the old solder off the lug on the tube socket (which is quite fragile), I clip the lead off the old cap about a quarter-inch from the lug. Then I form a tight spiral in the lead of the new cap (which is usually a lot thinner), by winding it around the lead of the old cap. Trim the free end, and it forms a sleeve which will slide over the stub of the old lead. A touch of solder, and I get a nice sweated joint that is very inconspicuous, and doesn't do violence to the delicate tube sockets or other parts.

I've got an early '70s Heathkit 110vAC to 12vDC. Power Supply out on the bench in the garage, in mid-re-furbish.
I'll get some good photos of it's innards for you, and we'll figure out how I can send 'em along your way, later.
Point is, it's a work of art, inside.
I'm working up the specs on replacing the old "grain of rice" indicator bulbs w/ LED's as well as the meter illumination. Not as easy as it looks at first glance, by the way.
And, I'm taking the semi-rusted cabinet shell halves down to bare metal, for a good repaint. Might not duplicate the original, given the wide array of available paints on today's market.
Oh, and I'll ditch the age-hardened plastic handle straps, and make up their twins in actual, hand stitched leather.
You'll enjoy seeing this one, as it is now, to when it is finished.
And yes, there is more to the story, but that's for another time.

They posited it'd be better to just have the Olympics in the the same place every four years. Summer in Athens and Winter in Lillehammer and be done with it.

I've never been diagnosed, so I don't know if there is a medical issue. What I do know is that I have an internal conversation tape running that is always grinding me down. Berating myself is the thing I do best because I've had a lot of practice. As a result, despair was my constant companion.
A book that really helped me is Crash the Chatterbox. Reading it, I became more aware of what I was doing to myself and I stop the negative thoughts when I realize they are starting again.
Stopping the negative self-accusations is an attitude changer. Life immediately gets more pleasant. It is foolish to say One Size Fits All when humans are so complicated, but the book might be worthy of your consideration.

Most of the claimed successes were already scheduled and funded projects while many of the claimed new projects somehow never got to fruition as it turned out they were many years away from completing red tape aspects like the EIR. I believe in the case of divorce any name change is included in the decree and it works like a marriage in reverse.In this case, mr. creeper died in January. This is specific Court Order which deals exclusively with the change of name. All three banks I dealt with yesterday said they rarely see something like this.

The best way to prevent an activist liberal Justice is to retain the
Senate. The only possible way for the GOP to retain control of the
Senate is if Trump is losing very badly going into election day.
Otherwise, Schumer will by working very closely with the liberal

I disagree wholeheartedly
The best way to prevent an activist liberal Justice is to retain the
Senate. The only possible way for the GOP to retain control of the
Senate is if Trump is losing very badly going into election day.
Otherwise, Schumer will by working very closely with the liberal
Democratic President from New York regardless of which candidate wins.
Schumer
will work with Scankles under any conditions whether Trump wins or not.
The Democrat Presidents always appoint far left judges and the
Republicans always trip all over themselves to approve them. The
Democrat always rush to block any conservative appointed by a
Republican. There is even a name for it now; "Borked". And since the
Republicans have NOT had a 60 vote Senate for over 100 years they wind up
appointing liberals like Kennedy who is not just a "little bit left".
The
only way we will ever fix the federal courts is to take them away from
Washington altogether. Make court appointments be picked by the States.

.hillary has a serious health issue and people are starting to talk about it which is a good thing IMO. Her balance problems suggest something neurological and chronic. Plus there are photos of one of her handlers walking with her holding a Diazepam pen. Those things are used for people with chronic seizure disorder.
