1 I wrote yesterday that eventually the world will wake up and when a
Muslim wants to come into the civilized world, the expression "Go back
to the shithole you came from!" will become a common response.

Someone replied "When?"

Clearly, after a lot more innocent lives are lost.

btw, I saw some of Trump's speech yesterday.

I loved the part
where he says he admires Hillary for the one thing she has been
successful with: Staying out of prison for the many crimes she has
committed.

Castile is at least the 506th person shot and killed by police so far in 2016, according to a Washington Post database that tracks such shootings.

He is one of 123 black Americans shot and killed by police so far in 2016, according to the database. About 10 percent of the black Americans shot and killed were unarmed at the time of the shooting, while about 61 percent were armed with a gun.

So 3/4 of people shot by cops aren't black.

And the fabled 'unarmed' black victims number ~12 so far, approximately 2.5%. (Noting 'unarmed' does not necessarily mean 'harmless.')

35 I would like to report some good news-that will be completely irrelevant to anybody but me.

Over a month ago I thought my purse had been stolen. so I got the things I needed to changed and cancelled. Yesterday I got a call from a local shop that it was in their safe and I wry over to retrieve it. I had gone back there and checked right after it was lost, and they didn't have it. I don't know why they didn't call me weeks ago, but I'm so glad somebody else didn't have it, and there was some information in that such as my clergy ID that would have been a real pain to try to replace.

So I am thanking God that there are still some trustworthy people around.

I don't know if the DNC runs it differently...

The RNC would send out assigned hotels to the delegates and basically plan everything for you. You then make the arrangements and pay up. So if I'm cynical, I'm wondering if the DNC assigned really expensive hotels to the Sanders delegation in the hopes of pricing them out of relevance.

The California Democratic party broke it down on their website:

Airfare to Philadelphia $400-$900
Hotel for 5 nights $3,250
Food and Incidentals $450
Statewide Delegate Meeting $150

Total Cost $4,250-$4,750

Hotels: The CDP will receive a hotel block from the Democratic National Convention Committee (DNCC). This hotel is chosen by the DNCC without consultation from the State Party. The estimated price per room night is $650 (including taxes). Delegates are free to seek alternative accommodations although the choices will be limited.

That is a shite price for a convention hotel block room.

I had some great dogs my MIL got at the Shaw AFB commissary this weekend. They were Hebrew National hotdogs that were three inches longer than the buns and were about 1" in diameter. 1/4 pound each. Biggest hotdogs I have ever seen.

JJ, the problem is it isn't reality. Free trade assumes the proverbial can opener when stuck on a desert island with a can of food. If you want to say that nations don't matter, then sure it comes closer to working if you assume away pretty much all regulation. But then you have to agree that people should be able to go wherever they want regardless of borders (i.e. Ryan's everyone who can find a job in the US can come here.)

I would prefer a Constitution Amendment that moved the capitol to some location near the geographic center of the continental US and limited its size to just big enough for the official federal buildings only. And made it illegal for anyone to have permanent residence there.

And yes, I understand visiting churches can be hard, If you have a churchgoing friends you might ask them if you can come along. That way you know someone. I went to the Orthodox church early for a visit knowing nobody. It helped that the priest was doing a Bible study before the service and he said, "You're most welcome; Come on in" and even though I had read up on Orthodox services, the ritual was very different from anything I had experienced before.

I would recommend Karl Barth's study on Romans. You can probably find information on that online too. He was the greatest theologian of the 20th century, IMO and he handles the complexity of that book deftly.. Some other folks here might have some other suggestions either on study on Romans or books of the Bible they particularly enjoy.

There are so many great things in Scripture-Psalms, because they cover almost every emotion there is in the life of faith. I like Colossians-because of the high view of Christ and what it says about suffering, and Acts is always so energizing, because of the amazing things the Holy Spirit does.
