We have one of these in our basement.
And truth be told, they do tip pretty easily if serious attention is not paid to weight distribution in the upper and lower shelves.
My guess is that IKEA sells more dressers worldwide than any other furniture manufacturer.
Plus the fact that IKEA furniture of this type tends to fall into the "Affordable Starter Furniture"price range.
Which attracts those who have little experience with living independently.
And now have children.

Cynically, I just assumed that they were being settled in areas that some large corporations wanted them settled so as to avoid having to fill jobs with H2Bs. This would leave the H2B program available for those communities and employers that don't want them settled in their backyard.

Nope I doubt it. As I said yesterday although ISIS hates Jews and Israel and will pay lip service to that hate, it is really not their main focus. We actually had one get a broken foot when it fell and she could not get out of the way fast enough. Lost time accident because stupid. I relocated all the hanging files to the bottom drawers and then had to call them all together and give a lecture on "file safety".

Filing cabinets are a worse problem than dressers because they are typically high and deep so a loaded and fully open top drawer really changes the center of gravity. I notice my antique dresser actually has much smaller drawers on the top so unless I put lead bars in there and extended them I would have trouble changing the CG by very much.

I dont use their little strap; I use wood screws to attach a small (6") strip of 1x2 to the top piece. Then use the expanding bolt things with a soft washer to fix it to the wall. I pre-drill holes in the 1x2 and the fiberboard backing of the furniture. You need the 1x2 to clear your baseboards. I also run a little battery powered string of xmas LED lights (the tiny kind for decorating displays, maybe 12 lights), down the back. So I can see in the drawers in the morning without waking wife. Batteries last about a year.
Big bonus - wife knows we can't rearrange the furniture.

I kind of wish that Ace would look at the morning threads, it might help his depression and blood pressure.
Suffice it to say that I think he is buying into the media narrative regarding Trump's chances and spiraling into a mind set that isn't borne out by the facts.
Anyway, in polling news we have a new poll that has entered the mix. I'm curious if Allah will bother to post about it, since it isn't a "sky is falling" scenario.
Quinnapiac released the latest in their polling series and finds Clinton leading Trump 42% to 40%. This is a very significant result, since the last time this poll was run, Clinton was leading 45% to 41%.
As I keep pointing out, Trump can't get above 40%, but then Clinton isn't sealing the deal with the voters either. She is shedding support at time goes on, despite that giant outlier ABC poll.
Let me point out one possible scenario for November. The people on the edges that recoil from both candidates could end up voting for Johnson or Stienberg in decent numbers as protest votes, allowing one of them to win with around 40% of the vote. I can guarantee that Trump will pull at least 40%, so there is a realistic scenario where that is enough to win.
One other possibility that is likely to come into play. People have a way of "getting used to" odd politicians (Boris Johnson is a pretty good example). The GOP voters are getting used to the idea of Trump. With 4 months to go, it is possible that the Independents will do the same, especially when all the "Dump Trump" nonsense is finally put to bed.

One of the big reasons Clinton is not getting as high as a ROI is that she is in the news for Benghazi and the email scandal - that's obvious. She's been washed of all sins by the media of Benghazi at this point.
But with her endless pile of money and the media on her side, she can still win. She should be toast by now with all that is going on. The money is still helping her tremendously.

Hopefully Trump is waiting to hit the airwaves in battle ground states after the convention. I assume that is what is happening. The GOP is not behind him, so there is not much money to spend right now.

I frankly don't think any GOP candidate can or could win this year. The divisions in the party are too great to paper over anymore. No matter who got the nomination - a conservative, a populist, an establishment guy - a sizable portion of GOP voters would boycott. And the country isn't the same place that it was 10 years ago. I think Ace hated it. I'm not a protectionist, so I'm not a fan of what he wants to do. However, I have to admit that the themes and points he was making are persuasive. They would make really good sound bites in commercials, and would attract voters who are suspicious of China in particular.

No they aren't an economy killer. Up until about 50 years ago we've always had tariffs of some sort. Free trade among diverse countries is a utopian dream. It might work as a mental exercise, but in reality it fails. Let's say, the US made one item (the super widget) each year, that was made by one person, that we traded overseas and represented our entire economy. Then we had to import everything else. Would we have a healthy economy? An economist will look at the GDP number and tell you yes.
Smoot Hawley wasn't the reason for the depression. We had far less trade then and the change in trade was only a couple of points.

You can't cut the life out of those agencies. It would require congressional action. You could encourage China to institute those same agencies because some of them actually have value. But they're never going to do that.
Or, you could calculate the price advantage that China has by polluting their air, water, and people unfettered. Then build it into their cost In some punitive way.
I'm thinking there's a word for that but it escapes me.

Once upon a time long ago, when I lived in NYC, I rented a car. I knew gas was like $1 cheaper in NJ, so before I returned the car I drove across the river to fill up. I just pulled up, started pumping, no big deal. And 30 seconds later this guy comes running out of the little office screaming no, no, no, stop, stop. And I'm like huh, what? No thanks man, I don't need you to pump for me, I'm goof. He was acting as if I'd just killed someone, in committing this horrible crime of pumping my own gas. It was kind of funny since I had no idea what the fuck he was saying (accent) and he was getting really upset that I wasn't listening to him.

Well the amazing thing is that the tax hike was like a bolt out of the blue, they are always talking about hiking the gas tax but I didn't think they would actually do it.
I guess it's the fat mans gift to NJ on his way out the door.
Basically my tank just went up 2.30 every fill and the knock on effect from businesses hiking transportation fees to cover increased fuel costs as well as municiplaities jacking property taxes to cover the now massive new fuel expenditures is going to be felt far and wide.
This is a freaking catastrophe.

You know, after watching a variety of charts the past few days (and beyond - didn't just start last week), it's really starting to look as if the MSM completely punted (surprise, surprise) the impacts.
I mean - look at the Euro vs PS vs Dollar vs other commonwealth currencies, oil and NG, and actual (not predicted) trade dollar flows - and it's very clear that GB did NOT take a beating of any sort. In fact, one might (I'm tempted to write up an analysis that no one would read) be able to assert that Brexit "hurt" the EU "more" than GB...

Businesses do deals every day around the world. They are forced to negotiate deals that are mutually beneficial or they don't do a deal. They don't just say, sure, bone me in the ass or I'll do something stupid.
We have an excellent example of tariffs implemented during Obama's term. Obama accused the Chinese of dumping tires in the US so he implemented a tariff on Chinese tires. The most comprehensive study I've seen said it worked! If you consider that at most the tariffs "saved or created" 1200 jobs (a dubious claim) and only cost US taxpayers about $1.1 billion dollars. Super.

Tariffs represent a fundamental manipulation of capital and resources. They don't happen in a vacuum and they don't come without consequences.
The reason we have so many bad trade deals is moron lawyers like Obama and his team have been negotiating them for decades. The choice isn't status quo or tariffs, the choice is status quo or putting someone in the job who understands how business actually works and letting them negotiate better deals.
This was one of Romney's biggest selling points. It should be The Donald's but he's off to a bad start. I'm hoping his rhetoric on this has a shelf life no longer than his muslim ban or some of his other dumb ideas.

A lot of the working and voting hispanic immigrants hate watching illegals come, pay no price, pay no taxes, get tons of benefits, jump lines in front of relatives, avoid laws, avoid compliance of laws, and basically get to live free while certain members that a lot of the legal immigrants came to the US to escape, have not come here to terrorize these neighborhoods as well.
Trust me on this one, if they find a reason to vote for someone who might stop it they will.
