14 Friend of mine on The Facebook this morning. He's a good dude, he lived in London for a while. But if you looked up establishment in the dictionary, there would be a picture of him

(paraphrasing)

My Friend: Brexit is awful. I can't believe this. I feel so badly for all my friends in London.

Someone then comments: Oy mate, not this friend, I'm happy as can be today that we will get our independence back.

The arrogance of some people is astounding. It never crossed my friend's mind that maybe, just possibly, not everyone thinks the same as him.

Over at The Economist, this:

The country must pick between curbing migration and maximising wealth.

The supposed cost - migration - is actually beneficial. European migrants are net contributors to public finances, so they more than pay their way for their use of health and education services. Without migrants from the EU, schools, hospitals and industries such as farming and the building trade would be short of labour.

Yeah because prior to 1973, the UK had no working farms. Just like prior to about 1980 when the illegal invasion started, CA had no farms. Right? After all if the premise is we cant run farms without cheap 3rd World labor, then it means before cheap foreign labor came around there was no farming in the 1st World.

The elitists are punishing the Brits over what they did. They are sending as strong a message as they can to the other countries thinking about leaving.

The UK is in for a bumpy ride that is totally contrived. Soros and his pals will have their revenge. I hope it costs them their fortunes. That's the only thing that will stop them.

I saw a response from Blair to the result. He was basically saying, "Don't blame us elites for doing what we must for the little people out there who are too stupid to govern themselves."

'Your people have taken the country back and there's something very very nice about that,' Trump said.

I was going to ask for help with all the other links in a few days anyway, so if you'd like the initial paper (it at least would have some really good graphs/historical data for you) I'd gladly send it.

162 The Earth's climate is a chaotic system that has cycles in series but occasionally a cycle will produce above average temps and such and occasionally a cycle will product below average temps.

It's like rogue waves.

They've finally found the answer to those so maybe there's hope for climate prediction yet.

One thing the alarmists never mention is that to actually know what the climate's going to do, we would have to have a whole lot more temperature and weather data stations all over the world.

Even in the middle of the oceans. Because a lot of the weather originates there.

That would be expensive and the liberals couldn't make any money off of that so you don't hear much about it.

Just as they don't mention that the stations we do have on land are in the wrong places or the station has had civilization encroach upon it and now the data it shows is skewed.

Like the one classic case where this temperature station was within a few feet of the exhaust of an air conditioner.

So guess what the temps showed?

And then we also have people fiddling with the data from previous years so as to create the appearance that the temperature is increasing.

171 Global Warming and the MWP. I read Gore's "Earth in the Balance" way back when it first came out, and he pointed to the Medieval Warming Period as an example of how a minor temperature variation had huge impacts.

But he seemed to not get the fact that the MWP was not the result of human interaction, it just happened. And it had hugely positive impacts on human life. And, it reversed itself, all on its own.

Which refutes EVERYTHING about AGW all on its own.

But that didn't matter, it made a good story. Now the Warmists say that the MWP never happened. They have gone back and remodeled the data to show that it wasn't warm then. Despite the fact that you find human habitations from that time under ice today. That doesn't fit the narrative.

Gunman Omar Mateen who killed 49 people at a gay nightclub in Orlando was quietly buried at the Muslim Cemetery of South Florida in Hialeah Gardens. A fresh grave covered by a temporary tent can be seen in the grounds of the property.

The cemetery, which is also a funeral home, is three hours from Mateen's home town of Port St Lucie. Confirmation that Mateen was buried there came from a state death certificate seen by the Orlando Sentinel. A funeral home located at the same address as the cemetery carried out the arrangements, the state document showed.

This motivates some people to show up and vote here. Remember it's going to be about turnout, and enough people were motivated before this.

It's a little bit of blood in the water.

I am not sure what it does for Londonistan, though. The EU didn't promote the mass immigration of Muslims, the British did it to themselves. The EU didn't create the horror of Rotherham and overlook it - the British did.

The British decided to let the sun set on their empire, not the EU. They abandoned the Royal Navy for Elf-n-Safety. Not the EU.

So, hooray? Doesn't seem like pudding on the balls material though.

Another question should be added

What is the exact solar radiation output of the sun and what is its allowable variation?
What is the linkage between solar output and the earth's temperature?

It might be good to point out that since CO2 doesn't play any role in life on earth, if only we sequester all CO2, there would be no climate problems. (/s)

I would modify it slightly as earth's climate is "narrowly chaotic" and within habitable extremes.

The earth has been much hotter and much colder over it's 4-5 billion age than it is now and the question that the warmest have never been made to answer is what is the so-called background climate change and how is it measured against current observed temperature data?

What drives the background climate?

How do you differentiate background vs "man-made?"

What is optimal?

How long will it take to get to "optimal" if we follow your proscriptions?

343 You'd think they'd be able to build the wireless mouse with a built-in rechargeable battery or capacitor that could recharge from the USB port, but I'm not an engineer, so what do I know?

They've been around for quite a while, actually. They tend to be pricier (for the ones with decent battery and reliability) but I've known folks who swear by 'em.

Me, I have a cheap corded mouse at work and a pricier Anker specialty item for home, and a Logitech wireless trackmouse for my laptop. Tool for the job.

Meanwhile, from Reason.com over to the Sidebar, then straight into your heart:

More than 900,000 people tuned in to CNN on Wednesday night to watch a town hall with Libertarian presidential candidate Gary Johnson and his running mate William Weld, with 320,000 viewers in the 25-54 demographic according to Nielsen ratings, 100,000 viewers less than the regular airing of Anderson Cooper in that time slot the Wednesday before.

So, most of viewers would have been kids and old folks who can't find the remote. But this is the year the Libertarians are relevant guys!

JIHADIST CAGED FOR PLOT TO BEHEAD POPPY SELLER

A British jihadist who plotted to behead a volunteer selling poppies for Remembrance Sunday was today (thurs) jailed for life with a minimum sentence of 15 years.

Nadir Syed, 23, planned to emulate the brutal Lee Rigby murder in the run up to the 2014 commemorations after he was stopped from boarding a flight to Turkey on his way to fight in Syria. He was inspired by a chilling Islamic State fatwa inciting followers to bring terror to the West.

It's just that the way in which this private property was moved into the public domain by various politicians and shenanigans is gross --- even if you acknowledge that the way Barnes set up his will was not too bright (and invited this).

I had the great misfortune of working with med mal stuff for over a decade. Obvious selection bias because, you know, we only saw the bad cases. But it makes you really terrified of going to the hospital because 99.5% of the cases were plain old human error. The other .5% were drugged up medical care providers and the ridiculously incompetent who bounced from place to place.

The even scarier part was going through stuff and explaining to people that the horrible thing that happened to them wasn't malpractice at all but was a known risk. Yup, the doctor puncturing a vein is a known risk. Nope, there's no liability for seizing under general because that's a known risk. Something can be a mistake and still not be malpractice.

Yeah, what people don't realize is that medicine is very much statistics made flesh.

(There's a pretty good episode of "Connections" on youtube that addresses this kinda sorta)

So, if you have a surgery that is 95% successful. Even if everything goes exactly right, there is still a 5% chance that your surgery will be a failure.

This has been the stupid argument that has basically guided Republicans even during Reagan's tenure.

I'll GLADLY take a hit in GDP to have common sense immigration policies.
