11 Like the slow-goers 1775/6, it will eventually show moderates like Ryan that mutual existence may simple not be possible, for it will not be allowed. No effort at goodwill will be reciprocated, and every concession will simply be a precedent for the next demand.

It will make "radicals" of moderates. That is the real benefit, as the moderates consider their only two options--what will amount to basic surrender and functional powerlessness, or another path, one full of peril and trouble, but which might pay off as the greatest poker bluff of all time, which will succeed because the hand itself could perhaps win.

My only advice to Mr. Trump is stay away from the protectionism/tariff idiocy, the pandering to Sanders supporters and keep firing away on the murderous lawlessness of Tia Borracha.

20 Apparently thousands of protesters on capital hill today are proof that gun measures need to be passed.

Using that logic, I'm not sure why we haven't changed abortion laws yet, given how the pro-life movement regularly gets an order of magnitude or two more people in the march for life.

We don't. We have tried to field people like Mike Lee and Ted Cruz since realizing that the GOP-e is against us. Sometimes we succeed, most of the time we don't. If we had the money that the Kochs, Adelsons and others had, we'd succeed a hell of a lot more.

The bottom line is don't blame us. Wherever you are, make sure you do your part to get out, make calls, ring doorbells and do whatever to get the insurgent elected. Not necessarily bitching at you, but in general, the collective we needs to get off our collective ass and do what needs to be done.

There's not going to be a brexit. There will be questions about the vote, and it's legality. Cameron will go back on his promise. They'll put the actual exit date far enough in the future....ten years or so, to redo the vote when it looks as if the populace will support it.

Or, the powers will be will just tell the voters to piss off.

50 So...

1. A man who thinks he's a woman is diagnosed with prostate cancer, because he has a prostate (even if he wants to pretend otherwise). Are doctors obligated to refuse treatment, in order to protect the patient's gender identity?

2. A woman who thinks she's a man is diagnosed with ovarian cancer, because she has ovaries (even if she wants to pretend otherwise). Are doctors obligated to refuse treatment, in order to protect the patient's gender identity?

3. A woman who thinks she's a man becomes pregnant, because she can, biologically. Are doctors obligated to refuse an abortion, to protect the patient's gender identity?
Or are they obligated to perform an abortion (even if the patient chooses otherwise), in order to protect the patient's gender identity?

So, Lucas jokes notwithstanding, if the Brits Brexit, what from Britain would you order up to reward their pluck?

I think Morgan is still British-owned. Jag/Rover of course is Indian now, though still assembled in Blighty. Minis are BMW's (to be fair, the estimable SP250 had a German motor Way Back When, and then you get into Setright's Bristols...) 56 I'm against sending more troops to Iraq, or anywhere outside of the country, because the currency of soldiers' lives has been too easy for politicians to spend. And it has been like this since the Korean War.

Politicians find it easy to intervene but hard to actually defeat any enemy they chose to confront. Until this country makes it illegal to enter a conflict without a commitment to defeat the enemy, or be defeated, I won't support another intervention.

She's playing the vagina card, as usual.

Because everyone knows it "worked" in her Senate run against Rick Lazio. Except it didn't matter in that case. That was a rigged election from the start, and Lazio the chosen GOP sacrificial lamb.

But it does work with many of the feeble-minded.

105 Are you familiar, at all, with Smedley Butler, USMC?

Posted by: Stringer Davis at June 23, 2016 08:06 AM (tIja6)

No. I saw, just now, his book on Amazon.

Eisenhower warned against the inherent corruption of a "military industrial complex".

I can see that. But what animates me against American intervention, is the devaluation of lives spent in a conflict by politicians who too easily run out of will and who instead, use the loss of life to make political hay.

North Vietnam was on its knees toward the end of the peace talks - they were on the verge of collapse. For all intents and purposes, they were defeated.

The Democrat party, seeing an opportunity to galvanize anti-war support against a war they themselves initiated, handed the North Vietnamese victory to cement political support. Iraq was clearly won. ISIS would never been more than a minor nuisance. But all of those lives spent were just tossed away like so much pocket lent.

These people, our professional political class, don't deserve and can't be trusted with the power to employ military force. The thought of that should scare people. If they can't be trusted to do one of the things explicitly spelled out that is their duty to do, what can they be trusted to do?

173 I can't see it having any positive effect vis a vis the Muslims who have all but conquered the country

Well, hope springs eternal, and all that. This is where a more-or-less successful "colonial past" bites a nation right in its lily-white arse. Islamisation was already afoot in the U.K. before the easy passports of EU set in. And this was because, in the happy-think of WWI progressives, they were all patriotic citizens of the Commonwealth, eh wot? Brotherhood beneath the all-seeing eye of God...

The British dewy soft spot for Islam predates modern Islamism. Michener said some very rude things about that romance in the early 60's. It's weird.

The source is Boris Bazhanov's Memoirs of Stalin's Former Secretary, published in 1992 and only available, so far as I know, in Russian. The pertinent passage, which appears near the end of chapter five, reads as follows (loosely translated with the help of Google):

' "You know, comrades," says Stalin, "that I think in regard to this: I consider it completely unimportant who in the party will vote, or how; but what is extraordinarily important is this -- who will count the votes, and how." '

I think that these Dems showed guts. For example in 2011 when the Wisconsin Democrat State Senators wanted to fvck with Scott Walkers Act 10, they fled the state to Illinois. Here the congress critters had a soft floor, free food, air conditioning. The WI runners had to pay for a Motel 6 and roller dogs at the local BP Gas Station.

You know, I remember reading years ago that a lot of studies used to be done initially with all male patients and when they started applying them to women things were sometimes different (drug amts, presentation, etc). So that could skew things if they did that.

I personally have been curious what if any studies have been done on the long term effect of taking high doses of estrogen for men, and testosterone for women...Surely that can't be good for you?

Well it depends on the type of immunity and who gave it and for waht. In the case of the IT guy, the Feds gave him some sort of immunity in their investigation, but the last questioning was in a civil case unrelated to that immunity.

Hillary Clinton knows everything Pagliano told the FBI under immunity, right? I mean, of course, right?

>>Former Hillary Clinton IT specialist Bryan Pagliano, a key witness in the email probe who struck an immunity deal with the Justice Department, has told the FBI a range of details about how her personal email system was set up, according to an intelligence source close to the case who called him a "devastating witness."

>>The source said Pagliano told the FBI who had access to the former secretary of state's system -- as well as when -- and what devices were used, amounting to a roadmap for investigators.

>>"Bryan Pagliano is a devastating witness and, as the webmaster, knows exactly who had access to [Clinton's] computer and devices at specific times. His importance to this case cannot be over-emphasized," the intelligence source said.

Posted by: rickl at June 23, 2016 08:04 AM (sdi6R)

Sander's supporters are teachable. Sure, most are young, etc. but they , like us, do not want the crony capitalism, debt, etc. that the government is piling on. They do not want their phone and text conversations recorded and snooped on. They do not understand economics as they should, or history, both of these subjects are not taught and/are distorted in schools and universities. So unlike Hillary supporters who are brain dead zombies, ideologically bankrupt and wanting more of the same, Bernie supporters can be directed down a conservative path with time.

Posted by: Buzzion at June 23, 2016 09:44 AM (Iq4E8)

293 See, teachers care about the children. And the union works in the interest of the teachers. So by the transitive property, the union cares about children. Therefore if you do something that the union doesn't like, even if you're a teacher yourself, you're not taking the best interests of the children into account.

If the UK votes "Remain" I'm sure that the skewing effect from that relative voting block, quite favorable to an "internationalization" of England and to more immigration specifically, will account for the margin of victory.

_______________________

They DO have their own narratives but they do not hate the conservatives per se.

Allow me to explain

They believe the conservatism is generally a good thing, but they believe that conservatism is only a vehicle for advancing the interests of the nation. The interests of the nation come before conservatism.

For a very broad example (And lets not get bogged down in details OK?) - the trade deals.

Nationalist see Mexico as a hostile foreign power (IMHO that has *some* merit given their history and current habits) and while free trade with them should be a conservative principal and benefit all. Nationalist believe that free trade with a hostile enemy is detrimental to the nation despite what we all know Thomas Sowell's work has shown.

This can be applied to a lot of their peculiar beliefs.
Again, I am not saying I agree, I am trying to show you how they are approaching this so you can understand them better and perhaps in the long run co-opt them into the conservative movement.
