Freud used this subject (the male model) in several paintings. I can't remember the big guy's name, but he did small roles in several British films such as 'The Doctor And The Devils'--roles where he mainly did background color shots by playing the background. There's little to establish scale in this painting, but the man himself is one huge lump of flesh.
And no, Freud doesn't like people very much, and is considered cold and cynical even by his closest associates. I'm thinkingthis particular Freud is probably a lot like his famous grandfather. Ready to turn to less amusing topics? In my ongoing Judicial Watch watch, Bryan Pagliano testifies tomorrow, at long last -- he was originally scheduled for June 6, screamed Fifth Amendment, Judge Sullivan looked over his immunity plea in the "criminal investigation" (the judge's words) that Hillary has yet to acknowledge as such, and finally said Let the deposition go forward. In all this, I can't tell what became of Pagliano's intention to plead the Fifth. I was going to ask Judicial Watch (they've answered my inquiry before), but we'll know later this week anyway when the transcript is released. His entire testimony might be "I refuse to answer on the grounds that it might incriminate me." And some legal eagle out there, please tell me why Pagliano wouldn't have given Hillary a total brain-dump on what he told the FBI when he was questioned under immunity. Did he plead amnesia to everything they asked? Posted by: iforgot (NeverTrumpers, avert eyes) at June 21, 2016 10:22 AM (pC96u) 130

OT. Went to the gun club range with my Dad on fathers day. I skipped the sporting clays morning event and joined the picnic lunch and then shot the 6 mm, Remington 600 my mom used to use for deer hunting. I like that little rifle. I never had any interest in shooting growing up but now I want to get competent for the tasty tasty deer and elk meat. The 6 mm is strictly deer caliber but a good practice rifle for me.

Thread below mentioned how scripted House Hunters show is...
Watched episode last night of the Bachelorette. The gal, Jo Jo, was rejected at the last minute as a potential bride in the Bachelor show last fall, and was asked to star in the female version of the show. (No, the producers haven't gotten to the point of same sex, transgender, etc. getting married, although I'm sure it's on the horizon.) There is NO WAY this show is not scripted from opening to end credits. A dozen guys are left now, and they all talk so sweetly, sensitively, deeply, etc. when on their "date" with this emotionally distraught , model material millenial who has been dumped several times by past boyfriends and then the Bachelor. They always post the guy's name and occupation when he is being interviewed (cough, reading his lines). One guy is an "erection dysfunction specialist". There's drama(one guy pretends to have roid rage and threatens to beat everyone up all day long, LOL he remained on the show until Jo Jo doesn't give him a rose and he must leave). Last night, Jo Jo's ex back home talked to In Touch magazine and spilled the beans that she is only on both shows to gain publicity(she is very much model material) and money and fact was, they were still seeing each other while she was being romanced on the Bachelor set. This was revealed to Jo Jo unsuspecting eyes last night, and the crying and caterwauling was extraordinary and bad theatre. Other past contestants on these shows have said that all of the scenes are contrived, the producers pick who goes and who stays and all of the contestants end up having sex with each other. The guys often sleep with four or five of the final contestants. I guess about half of the final couples end up getting married. A few have since divorced, a few are still together. So apparently the Feds tried to lure Omar into a terror plot, unsuccessfully.
"The FBI launched an investigation into Mateen after Sheriff's Office officials reported the incident to the agency. As part of its investigation, the FBI examined Mateen's travel history, phone records, acquaintances and even planted a confidential informant in the courthouse to "lure Omar into some kind of act and Omar did not bite," Mascara said. I've done a lot of live studio drawing and think the best figurative work focuses on interesting bodies rather than those which are aesthetically pleasing in the conventional sense. Fine, we go to Wal Mart and the lady in the automotive section had us fixed-up with the right battery and out the door in less than five minutes. Sterling service (plus on $50 for a new car battery.) Get home, give battery to dad to put in. He loses both terminal bolts before I can turn around. I find them, one on the ground the other down the front fender well. Old pickup fires right up.

Speaking of scripted shows, I like Escape to the Country, a brit show. I dont think it is scriipted but I dont get the impression most people are serious. The people are looking to move to the country and they show them 2 houses and one mystery house, i.e., not to their specifications but wort a look. I like the people who look at the properties, choose one, and make an acceptable offer. They are few and far between - 2 gay guys who retired and a mother and college age daughter. The serious people actually have more pleasant personalities. But I guess it is a big decision and does produce anxiety.

Took Art 100 class first year in college. Although I'd been self-taught artist-cartoonist for most of my life, I'd never had an art class and thought I'd start with 100 to see what basics they taught. Ooops. It was Art Credit for Physics and English Majors and there wasn't much actually being taught. (I think I flunked the course. )
However, we had nekkid live models a couple of times. The pretty young gal was fun to be in the room with. But meh to draw, actually, compared to... the fat, middle-aged gal, who had plainly lost a lot of weight and was all wrinkles and rolls. They come in the room, artists sitting in a circle around the model.
The model drops the robe and the view you get is the view you get. Sort of. It depends on the teacher and the class. Usually a class starts off with a lot of short poses and the students do 'gesture drawing' to get the mojo flowing. Then the longer poses are to work on the technique. I've been on both sides of the easel, which means yes I've drawn nekkid people and I've been drawn nekkid by people. Posing can be meditative and zen-like. It can also be excruciatingly hard. If the instructor wants an athletic pose and you choose one that works, holding it for ten or fifteen minutes is brutal. Posted by: Bandersnatch at June 21, 2016 11:20 AM (1xUj/) 302

Trump has been subjected to 68 million in negative advertising from his GOP rivals, plus what Hillary and the DNC has thrown at him so far.
Even with that, he's doing ok in the polls. The republican national convention hasn't even happened yet, which normally marks the beginning of the general campaign. Nobody except political junkies are paying attention right now. For the vast amount of voters, everything spent on advertising prior to the last 2 or 3 weeks before the election is wasted. This is especially true in a highly divided election like we have now. 2016 isn't the year where two slightly left or right of center candidates battle for the 10% of "undecided" voters. The only thing that is going to matter is last few days, firing up the base and the new voters who are looking for change. Hillary is at a distinct disadvantage because no one gets fired up to vote for the status quo. Of course, the media will not know this until the day after the election. If you want to see art that might be uncomfortable but not repulsive, and that speaks to anyone with a spark of humanity, check out Rodin's "The Old Courtesan" and "Caryatid Carrying Her Stone".
Posted by: JTB at June 21, 2016 11:31 AM (V+03K) I've always been moved by Robert Heinlein's analysis of Rodan's 'Caryatid...' sculpture: This poor little caryatid has fallen under the load. She's a good girl - look at her face. Serious, unhappy at her failure, not blaming anyone, not even the gods...and still trying to shoulder her load, after she's crumpled under it. But she's more than just good art denouncing bad art; she's a symbol for every woman who ever shouldered a load too heavy. But not alone women - this symbol means every man and woman who ever sweated out life in uncomplaining fortitude until they crumpled under their loads. It's courage...and victory. Victory in defeat, there is none higher. She didn't give up...she's still trying to lift that stone after it has crushed her - she's all the unsung heroes who couldn't make it but never quit. Susan Colins (Bitch - Maine) is coming up with a "moderate" proposal to ban guns today. You see it wouldn't ban guns from all 300K people on the "terrorist" list, only about 298,000.
Phew. And here I was worried over nothing. Posted by: Monsieur Moo Moo at June 21, 2016 12:04 PM (0LHZx) 430

I think SeanHannity makes up for any Trump animus on Megyn Kelly's part by his tireless pro-Trump advocacy. Hannity's unabashed adoration of the manborders onthe embarrassing; it's like a public act of fellatio every night. Hannity, Coulter and Ingraham have been Trump's biggest cheerleaders from the earliest days of the primary campaign. And who is on board with the Susan Colins gun ban? Why none other that super duper ultra conservative Miss Lindsey. And if he's on oboard, it means McCain is too. And whatever McCain does, his puppet Jeff Flake will do as well.

My take on Mia Love, as a Utahn and someone who used to adore her, still likes her enough:
She originally billed herself as a Mike Lee type of conservative republican, but her actions have not lived up to that. She is in a district with a large enough dem population that she probably has to play it more GOPe than tea party. It's hard for me to tell what her actual beliefs are, if she has swallowed the GOPe Kool-Aid or if she is merely playing the GOPe game. But at the end of the day, Republicans will vote for her over the dem, make no mistake. The problem will be if enough GOP stay home and don't get out the vote. The MORE interesting race in Utah frankly is between Jason Chaffetz and Chia-Chi Teng. Teng is of Chinese descent, his parents escaped communist China to flee Taiwan, he was schooled in US, teaches now at BYU. Sounds to be extremely conservative. Chaffetz has gone GOPe soft in the belly so plenty of room to strike at him. Teng is running very clever ads against Chaffetz. We'll see if he can unseat him. http://www.tengforutah.org/news/march-29th-2016 Posted by: LizLem at June 21, 2016 12:15 PM (hvf9s) 438

397 I'd say, under the circumstances, Trump is doing pretty damn good. Just think where he might be if he were actually supported by his own party.
And those of you Cruz people that think he could have done so much better, need to think again. He'd be in the same predicament, except that he'd be so much further behind the Hildebeast in the polls. Posted by: Soona at June 21, 2016 11:48 AM (Fmupd) ---------------------------- You have no way of knowing where Cruz would be in the polls. Given that he had much, much lower negatives with the general electorate than Trump, and given that he consistently polled better than Trump against Hillary, there's no reason for your assertion. That being said, Cruz faced exactly the same problem that Trump is facing. The GOPe really, really doesn't like him. And I do not think it is possible to win state-wide elections without GOPe support. Posted by: Margarita DeVille at June 21, 2016 12:18 PM (T/5A0) 440
Liberals play this game all the time when anyone mentions media bias. bbbbbut you have Fox News and talk radio, so how can you say all media is liberal?
Well it's because fox and talk radio self identify as conservative. And talk radio is almost exclusively opinion. Which means it's more or less preaching to the choir, while NY Times, WaPo, CNN, LA Times, et al are giving you their very liberal opinion but presenting it as middle of the road, just the facts maam. So while you could say Kelly is anti-Trump and Hannity is pro-Trump so they even out, it's not really the same thing. Hannity is preaching to the choice while Kelly is giving middle of the road people anti-Trump screeds every night. Posted by: Monsieur Moo Moo at June 21, 2016 12:18 PM (0LHZx) 441

Just making an observation--you know, that Drudgedestroyed his credibility with a good-sized share of his target audience. So did Ann Coulter. So did Sean Hannity. So did Laura Ingraham. They can't call themselves pro-conservative media figures while simultaneously shilling in the primaries for the least conservative Republican candidate in decades. Hillary's coughing fits are due to congestive heart failure.
It's one of the classic signs. When she "passed out" a few years ago, it was also a symptom of congestive heart failure. Shortness of breath and lightheadedness. Other signs and symptoms that she exhibits for CHF are fluid retention in the abdomen and lower extremities (pedal edema), along with frequent potty breaks. She has CHF. And the ass on an ottoman was a political swipe. After all, it's an Ottoman. Euros didn't have much use for Ottomans back in the day. The furniture thus ly named was used for propping up feet or in this case, plopping down on with one's naked ass.
