When thinking of visiting Britain one day, I'll confess I imagine seeing pale skinned English-looking people speaking a spectrum of English accents while drinking in pubs, driving through leafy countrysides on the wrong side of the road, etc.
Imagine finally getting there and finding yourself in a sea of Pakistanis and Indians eating curry and vindaloo. Like visiting New Hampshire for the covered bridges and fall colors and finding oneself amidst no one but mestizos. So why visit Britain, or, for that matter, New Hampshire at all? Why not the original Pakistan, India, or Guatemala? Some day it may dawn on nation states that their own signature inhabitants are one of their premier assets. England leaving the EU is a blow against International Socialism and the concept of eliminating borders. One Worlders and International Socialists want to eliminate nations because they stupidly think that's where war and conflict comes from. Each nation that separates from this idea hurts their momentum and push to internationalism.
Yeah, leaving the EU hurts profits for huge investors, slightly. It hurts the EU considerably to lose 20-30% of their GDP when England steps out. but it helps the English and it saves them from the inevitable EU collapse, as well as detaching them from the tyrannical radicals in the EU government. Telling Brits that they couldn't make cricket bats from the right wood any longer was probably a mistake. Posted by: garrett at June 21, 2016 03:43 PM (oeOT+) People think extra-inning baseball games can go on too long (and they can!) but cricket matches go on for days. A team can score 200 or 300 runs in a game. It's OK to hit the batsman with the ball, which is why they wear those funny padded uniforms. They're so sportsmanlike that cricket players have been known to correct game officials if they think a call was wrong even if it's a call that benefits them. (Just imagine Bryce Harper turning to the ump and saying, "You called that ball 4 but really it clearly was strike 3. Rather than go to first, I will go back to the dugout. The inning is over.") Mick Jagger is an avid cricket fan. That's all I know. Posted by: Donna and V. (sans ampersands at the present time) at June 21, 2016 03:59 PM (u0lmX) 144

Eurotrash will never admit it or understand it, but there is something good about the simple declaration, "I am an Englishman."
I say this frequently on Twitter when I'm getting in a dust up with some poncey English twat who believes the EU is the greatest thing since baguettes: no TRUE Englishman would ever refer to him or herself as "European." Never. My mother never would; nor would my grandparents. Being called "European" was an insult in their day, not some pretentious point of pride. Being European implied that you were soft and lazy, with no stomach for hard work. It also meant you were given to corruption and dishonesty. It was not, in short, a nice thing to be called. My grandparents would weep over the state of Britain today. My mother can't even stand to read news about her old stomping grounds. That's why I sincerely, dearly hope the Brits vote for Brexit. They have a long, long way to go to reclaim their lost glory days, but that's not going to happen at all until they tell the Euroweenies to GTFO. I think the pride argument is the weakest of arguments for a nation as it is for a person. Pride in mere existence isn't worth much.
Pride in accomplishments, pride in dynamism. Those are things worth considering. The better argument, if not a more difficult one, is the lost of sovereignty to a faceless, grasping bureaucracy. Being tied to the EU diminishes every UK citizen. To paraphrase Prager, the bigger the government, the smaller the citizen. A "sticky wicket" is a colloquialism meaning a problematic circumstance, which derives from when cricketers would have a tough time on the cricket field due to wet ground that was soft and spongy underfoot.

"Now Rugby is a real man's sport, and also boring,"
There's more action in the hour and half running time of a rugby match than there is in the three plus hours of an NFL game -- it's been timed. The rules aren't that complicated. Re Rugby 7s in the upcoming Olympics Regular rugby is 15 a side with a field that's longer and quite a bit wider than a football field. "Sevens" is seven a side on the same field. 7s is like 3-on-3 full court basketball, or even 2-on-2 full court. It can be exciting, but it can be "random" and skills like kicking and the power/strength aspects of the game are de-emphasized. I'm a traditionalist and prefer 15s, but 7s is fun to watch and can fit into the Olympics in a way 15s can't. The USA men's team has a shot at a medal. Sorry, but I just can't believe that there's a chance in hell of the UK doing it. They took the poison pill to commit cultural suicide decades ago - caught up in the pandemic PC Western self-loathing - and it's already too late for them, demographically. In another decade or two they'll be the Yugoslavia of the bad ol' days. Why would anybody think they would wake up NOW? Did the US wake up after 4 years of Obama? Have we woken up after 8? It's so surreal that the country that found a leader who could rally the population against the f'in Nazis - when it seemed IMPOSSIBLE to win - would then just turn around and slit its own throat. The most interesting time in football for me is when they line up with their defense vs the offense and try to set up how they will do the play. Its like the parts in baseball where the players set up in the field for each pitch, moving into position where the ball is most likely to go. These are the parts people who don't know or understand the game call "boring" but they're actually the key point in the game.

but have you ever tried to explain baseball to a foreigner?
A man moves from Scotland to the US and attends his first baseball game. After a base hit he hears the fans roaring, "Run! Run!" The next batter connects heavily with the ball and the Scotsman stands up and roars with the crowd in his thick accent: "R-r-r-un, yah bloody bahstard. R-r-run!" A third batter cracks a hard liner and again the Scotsman, obviously pleased with his knowledge of the game, screams, "RRRun, yah bloody bahstard, rrrrun, why don't ya???" The next batter holds his swing at three and two and as the umpire calls,"Take your base." The Scotsman stands up, yelling, "RRRun, ya bahstard, rrrun!" All the surrounding fans giggle quietly so he sits down, very much confused. A friendly fan, sensing his embarrassment, whispers, "He doesn't have to run, he's got four balls." The Scotsman stands up in disbelief and shouts, "Wahlk with prrrride, man!" Britain and the rest of Europe have been economically mixed for more tan 4 decades. It is not only the financial market. It is the car-builders, the grocery in Main Street with less Access to cheap fruit, the pensionist living in Spain with free access to hospitals there, the whisky exporter in Scotland with less taxes exporting than selling to London....that is why the younger in Britain favor remaining. It is the older people who want to exit. Because they don't have to survive anymore in a global economy
