Who Was the "Lone Wolf" Terrorist Talking to On the Phone (In Arabic) While He Attempted to Buy Body Amror?

And wy did the FBI do nothing when alerted to a suscipcious man trying to buy armor and ammo?

This is why I've come to hate gun control laws. These laws are largely buck-passing excuses for lapses by the government. The government, as usual, fails cataclysmically, then begins nattering that it's not its fault it fucked up for the billionth time; it just needs laws further strippting citizens of more rights, then it'll get its act together. Swearsies.

Let's address the real root causeof terrorism: Government incompetence.

Once we've passed a law against that, we can talk about other laws.

16 No you can't get arrested for buying it but if they are suspicious about how you act and what you say then someone could like do some checks (as the media did in just a few days look at what was found out this guy had already done).

Like Ace said it's just CYA.

You can't arrest a criminal until after they act.

Other citizens could put a stop to his actions but no one's allowed to possess firearms in a place that sells liquor in Fla.

Which is funny because you used to be able to buy a mixed drink at a drive thru. ABC Liquors.

If the people stand strong and face the realities then terrorism can't get a foothold.

But if the people are afraid and act stupidly and irrationally then terrorism wins.

Terrorism doesn't win through gov't stupidity (although it helps)

It's the peoples reaction to the acts that cause terrorism to win.

Understand something anyone who thinks "common sense" says "people on the list shouldn't be able to buy guns."

Omar Mateen was on the list twice for ~six incidents of threatening religiously motivated violence. FBI investigated two times and removed him from the list essentially saying "we think his G4S coworkers are wacist."

The Federal Government does not think the guy who shot 103 people in the name of Islamic Jihad belongs on the terror list, they think YOU do.

How about we follow the thread back to the beginning: Omar's family emigrating to the US.

Why did his father raise no red flags as a vocal supporter of the Taliban, running for president of Afghanistan, creating a pro-Taliban "charity" in 2010? *Why was he meeting with members of Congress?*

When did the Taliban become *not* our enemy?
So...why was a Taliban member allowed to move here in the first place?!?!?!?

I have to say I'm skeptical that he had help.Many of the victims gathered in the restroom and huddled together. That right there is shooting fish in a barrel. And if the reports I've read are true -that is where the majority of the victims were.One of the people at the bar had blocked one of the exit doors in an attempt to keep the shooter from coming out and shooting them. That contributes to death toll by closing off an escape route. All the others were by the front door - which was primarily where the shooter was.

Leftist: we demand 100%
Conservative: No, 0%
Leftist: Ok lets compromise at 50%
Conservative: OK

later...
Leftist: We demand 100%
Conservative: no, 50%
Leftist: OK let's compromise, 75%
Conservative: OK

later....
Leftist: We demand 100%
Conservative: no, 75%
Leftist OK let's compromise, 82%

and on and on it goes. The compromise means it moves to the left every time. We never compromise for more freedom, always less.

500+ rounds? Remember, he shot, injured and killed 102. All hit multiple times. PLUS an hour long intense firefight with SWAT. He supposedly shot his way in. So ALL of his ammo would have already been mag loaded. He wouldn't have been able to aim, shoot his way in WHILE carrying an ammo can.

164 The root cause of terrorism is found in the pages of the koran. It's been that way since the 7th century.

The reason Americans are unable to effectively defend ourselves is that the uniparty of the Left and the GOPe no longer believe the United States is based on any metaphysical principle.

We founded the country based on the belief that because of man's relation to God, man had inalienable rights that in principle were above and beyond the government. For example, since every human is created in the image of God, each human life has worth and has the right to self-defense, even from government itself, and therefore the right to have and bear a weapon to defend oneself is above and beyond the power of government, hence the 2A RKBA.

But no one in the Democrat party or the GOPe believes that today. They believe only in "science." But science doesn't speak one way or the other on the question of God-given rights. To the extent some people claim it does, they claim that science has disproved God, and therefore inalienable rights are a fiction.

The belief system of Islam is directly contrary to the God-given inalienable rights principle at the foundation of our society. Under Islam, the Muslim has Allah-given superior rights over other humans.

But since all of this is beyond the purview of "science" and only "science" is understood by the Marxists and other materialists, they are unable to distinguish Islam from any other metaphysical belief system and have no weapon to fight it as a belief system.

Paul Ryan is a good example - an Ayn Randian-style materialist, he simply has no way to comprehend Islam or to distinguish it from the Judeo-Christian inalienable rights principle at the foundation of our society. So he is outraged at any suggestion of limiting Islamic immigration and resettlement into the USA. Indeed, he is threatening to sue on behalf of Congress any president who attempts to do so.

Because the media and the Uniparty are of one mind in these matters, we have no national conversation on the nature of Islam as a system of belief and or even of the nature of the United States as a society founded on a certain system of belief, so certainly the matter of whether the principles upon which Islam rests are compatible with American civilization is simply never broached.

Compromise and cake

http://tinyurl.com/zsxxzcn

I hear a lot about 'compromise' from the gun-control camp... except, it's not compromise.

Allow me to illustrate:

Let's say I have this cake. It is a very nice cake, with "GUN RIGHTS" written across the top in lovely floral icing. Along you come and say, "Give me that cake."

I say, "No, it's my cake."

You say, "Let's compromise. Give me half." I respond by asking what I get out of this compromise, and you reply that I get to keep half of my cake.

Okay, we compromise. Let us call this compromise The National Firearms Act of 1934.

- Cheers about the 9-11 attacks.

- Threatens to murder his entire class in a pique of Islamic offense because a piece of pork touched his hamburger

- Is reported to the FBI by co-workers for openly bragging about his connections to Islamist terror groups.

- Goes into a gun shop, tries to buy bulk ammo and body armor, makes a call on his cell phone in Arabic, and is refused ammunition and body armor by the gun shop who reports his suspicious behavior to the FBI

The FBI and Homeland Security will give him a pass and let him murder 49 people.

But if an Amish farmer sells raw milk or a man's wife is suspected of student loan fraud, the Government will sic a SWAT Team on them.

I mean, I've taken quite a few Lefty acquaintances of mine but they were sincere and approached me in good faith. This guy though, I dunno. I don't think he's contrite...I think he's scared and has realized that this isn't a game...people really DO want to kill him just for being gay. And since he's insulated himself so much he doesn't know where to turn, but because he's the center of the universe he figures I'll be happy to help him out. It's complicated.

When someone signs off on a background check, they need to know if things go wrong, people are going to be looking at that decision. If information isn't followed up on, someone is going to hold them responsible.

280 I think gays might be far easier to pull to the right than any other of the left's favorite victim groups - because they are not part of the FSA. Gays, especially gay men, tend to be pretty well off because they don't have families to support. So they are not dependent on the Dems for a welfare check - they're among those paying for the welfare state.

Like liberal Jews, they are presently voting against their own best interests. They do so because they've bought all the crap about how Christians "hate them" because they don't approve of gay sex or gay marriage

Milo did a great service by praying with the Billy Graham people and tweeting out that Christians will pray with gays while Muslims will kill them.

I don't think welcoming gays into the fold means people have to suddenly proclaim their love of gay marriage and everything gays do. Those Christians praying with Milo didn't say that. They said "We all are sinners." We can say that and say that gays, like all Americans, have the right to defend themselves.

This has puzzled me for a while.

Also, sort of on-topic, though in this inverted, logic-free, dumbed-down "America" I seem to live in, it's completely obscured, note that "background checks" and the whole panoply of stuff intro'd by the '68 gun control act is almost entirely a meaningless kabuki, anyway. In multiple ways.

If it were possible to do a side/side experiment, with a control group being a state with pre-68 laws (i.e. essentially you'd buy a gun like you bought corn flakes or a lawn mower) next to one with current laws - you'd see ........ no appreciable effect of all these laws/restrictions on liberty. Nothing.

Of course you can't run such an experiment. A very loose analogy might be the Canadian long-gun (rifle) registry. Run for decades. Until finally abandoned not long ago. I believe the RCMP (Canadian FBI) stated that the registry had not figured in a single successful investigation. Not a single one. (Canadian morons help me out here)

And so? Just wanted to add some gloom, as usual. Even non-idiotic, not particularly ignorant Americans (e.g. those not hysterical and gun-grabby) are fairly lazy, and accept huge guvamint infringement of liberty without thinking.

284 The Vice President has called for a ban on weapons for civilians. Currently it is just assault weapons; this list will grow over time--and there are no other compensatory offers. Unacceptable.

I have long thought that a civil war would have already have happened if an unresolvable issue had developed that threatened enough so as to compel a call to arms; given how the Democrats increasingly abuse Federal power to get what they want, given how they flout the rule of law and yet say they never do, we now have that issue--for we know what the Left would do if it had unchallenged power--we know the unfairness and double standards it imposes with the power it does have; we know how it tries to ruin and impoverish those who disagree with it; we know how it freezes out of cultural and institutional power those who are not "reliable"--and Joe Biden has just started taking the steps to insure this inability to challenge cannot ever be changed, by removing the ultimate veto the people have--the ability to fight back, physically, when the long train that evinces leaves the people no choice.

The Left has control of all major institutions in this nation. They cannot be allowed to remove the last true protection of the people so that they may institute their soft, "Brave New World"-style fascism. It might be a gentle boot stomping on the human face forever, but it will be a boot on the face nonetheless.

I would not wish a war. I am not sure one is coming. I cannot say for certain, though, that one will not be needed, but I can say for certain that people need to start considering it, and mull the matter over, in the calm moments of the heart--and we might just find that it might be that the mulling over, and the resolution that goes along with it, might be the trick needed to show the reasonable Left--ever-shrinking, but still there--that there are opportunity costs for everything, and that maybe, just maybe, just because you think you can get away with something doesn't mean you are actually going to get away with something.

If one wishes for civil peace, make it clear that you are willing to do civil war. If done resolutely today, it will give us civil peace. If delayed, it will lead to either war, or should we choose not to fight, functional disenfranchisement. But at any rate, we must decide what we are going to do, for every sign is the Left sees this as their generation to gain complete control, and their are grasping the nettle. We must thus decide do we acquiesce (the answer of the so-called GOP Establishment), or do we fight? And if we fight, what do we mean by that word--"fight"? This we must decide.

At any rate, we have a choice before us. The Left is going to act to get what it wants, and shows little respect for rules and forms in and of themselves. What are we going to do in response?

I have thought about this often. I don't know if anyone in our congregation is armed any more. I know that we had a deputy sheriff in the flock and he was probably carrying but he retired to Arizona.

Judging by the victim's names, it looked like most were Hispanic.

I think that's more an artifact of being in Miami than personal choice. Hispanics are generally white or white/asian in any case.

That's why a massacre hasn't happened in San Francisco, because No Double Parking signs are clearly posted.

I've considered this scenario quite a bit. So have others.
A friend of mine quit a church because in the wake of Wi getting CCW, his church put up the no weapons signs on the doors.

And they train on how to defend that church when it's empty.
Any congregant who pulled a gun would likely be shot, even if trying to help.

366 Now you have to admit that government workers are paragons of efficiency in utilizing pensions, breaks, vacations, training, travel, sick leave, paid leave, paternity leave, weather shutdowns, work slowdowns, and napping.
Sadly, they underutilize unemployment.

367 First story I saw said the guy was speaking Arabic. Omar doesn't speak Arabic. He is Afghani. His Dad spoke Dari.

And if you don't know either language, it's all just weirdbeard gabble. So people jump to conclusions. But Omar was ISIS. He'd been to Saudi twice. Could well be he learned arabic.

368 Not to be impugning the sophistication of the gun shop owner, but.... I seriously doubt he understands the difference between Dari, Arabic or Pastun. I wouldnt.

All he heard was durka durk durka.

369 325 Just a reminder: cabinet level positions (heads of agencies, etc) cannot be fired

--

something has changed since Nixon's Saturday Night Massacre?

The president can't fire low level civil service employees either.

So it's only the mid level political appoints, like federal prosecutors, and assistant to the assistant undersecretary in charge of redundancy.
Posted by: Wreckless Lee at June 17, 2016 02:00 PM (evQ4x)

Congressionally approved cabinet level appointees are only confirmed to the length of the sitting president's term. After that term, the new prez can tell every one of them to take a fucking long hike.

Incredibly cogent point. Well put, indeed.

Funny, can't recall any of the gobshite msm solemnly intoning sad sad words about the grim death toll brought about by domestic islamic terrorism in the last few months. Why is that?

I will not besmirch his honor in his response his combat life saver skills saved from reports at least 1/2 dozen people.

I am quite unsure how I would respond to a mutant combination of Dr Phil meets ask the Imam that OPD allowed to drag on for three hours unarmed.

I assure you when I go home for the last time I will have my CCW and 6 shots of .38sp SWC +p will be my sword.

375 Though I am reasonably certain that people on the street watching and waiting while I attempt to park, let us not ever ever ever discuss my attempts at parallel parking, want to murderate me a whole really lot.

The legal term for that is justifiable homicide.

Posted by: alexthechick - I despair I despair at June 17, 2016 01:56 PM (mf5HN)

Some may want to murderate you, but many others appreciate the comedy you bring to their day as they watch you see saw back and forth before finally parking 2 yards away from the curb.

I brought delight to a porch full of people yesterday. One of them finally came over and did the wave-stop direction thing so I wasn't parked halfway out in the middle of the street.

376 I heard an FBI agent that went to Universal on vacation was also attacked by an alligator. He said he was unaware of the danger . He thought the beware of alligator signs were part of the decor. He also didn't think the park ranger was serious when he told him to move away from the lake because there was a gator ten feet from him. Finally when the gator came up to him he thought it was a prop and attempted to pet it. He wished he just had more warning so he could have avoided this tragic event.

Disagree. They're more likely to attack a medium sized church in a medium sized city. The purpose of terror is to make people feel unsafe no matter where they live.

Just as an aside, Governor Chris Christie of New Jersey when in position
of state attorney general prosecuted the muslim Ft Dix Six who were
going to attack that military base. So he's 'up to speed' on the issue.
Posted by: Lice Wags at June 17, 2016 02:01 PM
~~~~
And the same Gov. Christie then turned around and appointed the Ft. Dix Six attorney to the NJ Superior Court. One Sohail Mohmmed--who has ties to several muslim brotherhood organizations. When questioned about it Christie stated, "(This) sharia law business is crap...and I'm tired of dealing with the crazies!"
Andy McCarthy wrote a whole column on Christie's affection for muslims entitled "Christie Is Not One of Us" in response to someone else on NRO writing an article titled "Christie Is One of Us." Perhaps unsurprisingly, McCarthy's article has vanished...I'll keep looking.
386 >>> All I know is that when we were fighting this in Iraq, it was not being fought in Orlando, Paris, California, and Texas.
--------
... and TN, MA... nevermind the attacks on our embassies and outposts overseas.
Our country HAS fundamentally changed.
In 1986, two US citizens were killed in a Berlin nightclub bombing by Libyan terrorists.10 days later, we dropped 60 tons of ordinance on Libya, wiping out installations from Tikrit to Benghazi. The only reason it took 10 days was we were confirming responsibility. Zero attacks or bullshit from them after that for 20 years.
Today, 50 people are killed and 50 more injured in a nightclub IN THE US by a terrorist who CALLED 911 and PLEDGED HIS ALLEGIANCE to ISIS. ISIS claimed responsibility within hours. Who is our govenment and President targeting for these attacks? Americans. What to they say is to blame? The Second Ammendment and "hate crimes" against gays. Who are they ramping up security against? "Right Wing Extremists".
How is it not abundantly clear that the government has declared war on American citizens while engaging in outreach and negotiations with people who want to kill Americans?
That's what's so frustrating about all this, American citizens are made to be the bad guys, while the people responsible are made to not be who they are and didn't really do it..
Meanwhile, the senate debates to undo the Bill of Rights.
389 If passing more 'gun control' legislation is the 'fix' to this, I offer an amendment to whatever bill they deem 'necessary'. If, upon passage of said bill, ANOTHER attack happens to occur on American soil by an Islamic Jihadist, then for every innocent American life lost in that attack, a member of Congress shall be executed for dangerous incompetence. I don't even care anymore if they start with the Majority party. If we run out of congress critters, then work up the chain beginning with Secretary of Defense...
390 #371, I often rock a J-frame as a "going to the grocery store" gun, but I have decided I am generally underarmed by doing so.
My usual carry is a 1911A1 with 8 round Wilson mags, usually one reload but occasionally two. I have been rethinking that. This weekend I am packing a combination trauma/ammo reload bag that will live in my truck whenever I am not going on and off the secured Federal installation that is my day job.
391 Obama: "Why is it we think our liberty requires these repeated tragedies. That's not the meaning of liberty
Abolishing the Second Amendment isn't the meaning of liberty, either.
I think our liberty requires a president to do his job, crush ISIS and stop importing Sharia.
It also requires this:
"Our Constitution was made for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other."--John Adams
And he didn't mean the moral values of the Tripoli pirates.
He's not just saying play nice with others. He means if this country ever has too many criminals, communists, pirates and terrorist sympathizers, we'll lose a free state and go to a security state.
It wouldn't stop with the Second Amendment, either--the whole Bill of Rights are limitations on government power that come in mighty handy in a Security State.
