Ace of Spades Pet Thread [Misanthropic Humanitarian]

z sat pet thread cover.jpg

It's that time of week, grab a cookie, curl up in a ball and refrain from passing gas. It's the world famous Ace of Spades Pet Thread ( Well, almost world famous)

Quote of the Day I:
“The better I get to know men, the more I find myself loving dogs.”
—Charles de Gaulle

Quote of the Day II
"A cat has absolute emotional honesty: human beings, for one reason or another, may hide their feelings, but a cat does not."

Pet & Animal News

After the horrific events of 9/11 in NYC dogs were used in survivor location capacity. Then used for victim recovery. The last surviving service dog used for these purposes has passed on. I came across a story about Bregagne a couple of weeks ago when the Memorial Day weekend thread was being prepped. At one time she had her own day in NYC.

Husky likes waterboarding. J/K he enjoys blowing bubbles.

Pet Morons

zz stubby the cat.jpg

Meet Stubby the Cat. Steevy the Moron submitted this photo. Steevy didn't say much about Stubby. Hopefully, he will be around today to talk about him.

zz Blue.jpg

This is Blue. Blue is a mixture of Border Collie and Blue Heeler. From what Prosgtor told us, Blue is quite the squirrel dog.

zz lily beagle.jpg

So this is Lily. She's an 11 month old Beagle pup who looks terribly spoiled. 'Ette Lynn says she is a comical dog. I bet!!

zz linda.jpg

Now here is a breed you don't see too often. Meet Millie the Dandie Dinmont Terrier. Regular 'ette Lindafell says she's a great dog with kids.

zz zee cat ernie rabbit.jpg

Now this is an unusual pair. Zee is the cat and the rabbit is Ernie. Per Barbara Ernie is Zee's little buddy and shadow.

zz ruth.png

Say hello to Bud the Cat. Ruth tells us that he was discovered at about 1 week of age and weighed about 4 oz. He's grown up to be a healthy looking pet.

zz RI Red.jpg

These are Seal Point Siamese, meet Max & Mia. They are 10 & 12 years of age. RI Red says they are wonderful cats.

zz goatexchange.jpg

Last but not least is Goatexchage's deputy assistant auxiliary emergency back up pet, Joy.

Thanks for stopping by this afternoon. If you a story, a photo or some interesting pet/animal news you know how to reach us. We are at petmorons at gee mail dot com.

5 What a bunch of precious animal photos!

In pet news here, friend's little dog got himself tangled in the big cord to the electric dryer in the garage. When I finally got him untangled, he growled at me. Later, he would not leave the side of Mr. Bar-the-Door, who was painting cabinets in our friend's kitchen. Guess he was traumatized by the cord experience.

At home, the poodly puppy has taken to standing under Little Buddy when Little Buddy pees. I don't like this much.

10 Stubby the Cat looks a lot like our garden kitty Wild Thing. He hasn't acted quite so wild since taking a ride into town on the top of the van. It was hard to get his little claws detached from the luggage rack. He's more of a snuggler now.

45 My pet story for this week:

Not long ago, I met a neighbor from a few blocks over when he was walking his dachshund. Tucker was in the window, and wanted to play.
So I invited him to to sit down for a beer and let the dogs play. Now, it's a pretty regular thing. He says that when they walk by and I'm not around, Oocho will sit right down on the sidewalk, refusing to move along. Just whining, waiting for playtime.
It is absolutely hilarious to watch Tucker (minpin) and Oocho chase each other around the yard until they're exhausted. The legs on the thing can't be more than 3 inches long, but he can move pretty quick.
And big feet. He sounds like a horse running by at full speed.

Posted by: Chi at June 11, 2016 03:06 PM (LUZrI)

46 Ernie was an English angora rabbit (he was an advanced 11 1/2 years old) that I got at three months. I still have quite a bit of fur I brushed off him to spin! He was a house rabbit, and when we brought him home he fell in love with the girl Zee. It got so bad we had to have him neutered. She wasn't quite so thrilled but would tolerate his interest after that.

49 I love these moronimals! Every single picture gives me an extra appreciation of life, of beauty, of laughter.

Stubby the cat looks exactly like our late beloved Ernie, except for the intelligence in Stubby's eyes. Ernie looked rather stupid --- and he WAS!

Speaking of Ernies, ....a bunny?!? With doggeh as best friend? Wow.

Blue ---what coloring! You get some beautiful, exotic coats on mixed breeds, it seems.

Lynn says Lily is comical. Hah! I've never met a beagle that wasn't!

My favorite photo (artistically speaking) is the one of Bud.

56 Hey you guys. MisHum is away on vacay but we could use some help with the pet thread. He won't let me quit this job assignment though I have tried to but I am not giving him the help he needs.

I'm asking you guys to send in content. For those of you have, thank you so much. It makes it much easier for him to put this post together when he gets links and leads. He already does the Monring Nees Dump every day which takes a lot of online hunting around and is time consuming to do. That and he has 2 Saturday threads and always volunteers to pick up the ONT when others can't do it. He also has a wife and kids and a full time job. He is generous to a fault. So please help make his life and blog work easier. Thank you in advance.

59 Sort of a pet story, more of a humble-brag. Yesterday at the dog park a woman showed up at the Creek area, where a bunch of us let our dogs off their leashes to fetch and swim and play in the water. Breaking Park/City/County/State ordnances all the while. This woman is handicapped, I think through chronic drug use, and the other "regulars" shun her and her dog, Topaz. She can't throw sticks for her dog, so she sort of sits by and hopes her dog runs around on her own, but she usually doesn't. So I walked up to her and asked if she wanted me to throw sticks for Topaz and she almost cried. Said "yes", I spent the next half hour giving that dog the best workout it's had in years. A few of the regulars left, a few stayed, but the point was made. She and her dog are welcome at the Creek as long as I'm there.

Anko got put outdoors at a young age and was hair and bones mainly when she decided to adopt CPT Charles. She is frozen at 8.75 pounds, mainly because Charles will not let her the dedicated house kitteh eat too much.

Oh yeah, didn't his cats have extra toes or some unusual feature?

Posted by: L, Elle at June 11, 2016 04:09 PM (6IPEM)

96 Stubby looks so much like my Pumpkin.
Blue is gorgeous! (Always wanted a border collie.)
Lily looks lovely. My uncle raised beagles. The pups were so fun.
I have only seen Millie's breed on the Westminster show. She is darling.
Zee and Ernie??!! I have a pic of my Mr. B with a rabbit that is not so sweet. Did they grow up together?
Bud is a cutie.
Mia and Max look like they are BFF.
And I sure wish I could be as relaxed as Joy.

Thanx Horde for sharing the pix and thanx to MH and others for making this great thread that I love to relax with.

Yup. Six-toed cats. And the offspring still have residence at his house in Key West. All of them have six toes.

I took one of the ferals to the vet today, got him rabies-shotted, wormed, tested for a coupla of things, nails clipped, and generally looked over. I was having trouble assembling the cat carrier so I had to transport him loose in the car. He didn't think much of that and peed. Car's in trouble, cat's fine.

I'm going to take him to California in September and give him a permanent home, with a roof and beds and food lying around and people petting him all the time, the whole works. I estimate it will be his third life.

104 Not sure where Progster came from - must've misread Prosqtor (sound it out for what I do for a living).

Thanks all, he's a good boy.

I highly recommend Border Collies if you can handle the neurotic personality.

The last I heard there was a big push on by some official group in FL to get rid of those cats, but they and the house are covered in Hemingway's will.

110 That was at least one life used up
------------

Spying a group of people around a car in the grocery store parking lot, a couple of the on their knees peering up under the rear, I walked over to see what was going on.

It was a cat, which had crawled up amongst the rearend/gastank space. A passerby had heard mewing, and stopped to find out what was going on. The poor little critter was really up in there, and hard to even see.

The owner of the car identified the cat as one that had been wandering around his neighborhood, and so, it had taken a ride of several miles.

We eventually got the animal out, and the guy whose car it was took him home and adopted him.

Thanks for the great story. It's easy to run into drug-damaged people around here. They often have very strong attachments to a pet or a stray. Hard to know what to do for the people sometimes, but being nice to an animal they love is a great start.

I am currently reading Moron-recommended 'Pioneer Go Home!' There is a passage in there where a character is making an analogy and says something like, "That cat that curls up in a cute little purring bundle on your lap becomes a very different creature when it slips out into the night."

Posted by: Mike Hammer, etc., etc. at June 11, 2016 04:32 PM (9mTYi)

116 96 No, Zee was maybe 9 or 10 years old when we brought Ernie home. He just had an outsized ego for a five pound pet. He bossed the two cats around and actually tried to get it on with Zee. I wasn't kidding about why we had to get him neutered. He adored her, she put up with it.

120 Our siamese cat, Sam, died earlier this year. He was 21. He was my husbands best buddy, followed him everywhere. We have 2 weimaraners and they never could figure him out. He wasn't afraid of anything but crows. They always scared him. Great cat.

123 I had the good fortune to get a rescue dog this week. Brody looks to be a Border Collie/ Greyhound cross. Whip smart/Lightning fast. Someone spent some quality time with this dog. He has the Wolfhound lean, the border collie without the neurotic and he has never challenged my older girls. I am ecstatic.

127 We spend a lot of time outside.
Our veranda is quite popular with Other People's Cats.
When the weather is nice we leave the front door open with one of those screens that splits in the middle.
These cats come and go inside.
Then, one by one, the owners get dogs.
And the cats vote with their paws to move in with us.
So, whenever an owner wants his or her cat back he/she can come and get it.
But they never do.
They just say, you ''stole'' my cat.''
If they cared about ''their'' cat maybe they would keep it inside when the weather is 4 degrees.
Instead their cats cry at our window until we feel sorry for them and let them in.
I look at them sleeping on couch cushions and say to hubby, ''That's NOT our cat.''
All three of these cats have the BEST inside manners, too.
