More Deceptive Editing From Pay Channel "Documentarians:" AR-15 Rifle Inventor's Quote Truncated to Suggest the AR-15 Is Just as Deadly as Its Military Cousin the M-16

He did say the AR-15 was just as deadly as the M-16, a quote that HBO's "Real Sports" (real except for all the lying) included.

What they deliberately omitted was what he said immediately after saying the AR-15 was just as deadly as the M16 -- "When firing semi-auto only" and that "the select fire M16 on full auto is of course more effective."

If their case is so strong, why do they have to continuously lie about it?

Alternately, this could be yet another case of willful ignorance by the anti-gun assholes. They honestly do not seem to understand the difference between single-shot and burst-fire weapons most of the time, or at least seem to think that any gun that "looks sort of military-ish" is a burst-fire weapon.

3 shot burst was seen as a governor on that impulse.

Well trained pros and SOCOM types use full-auto to fire 3-5 shot bursts anyway.

51 HBO is adding to lawfare.

Scalia's decision in Heller gave 2nd amendment protection to firearms that are in "common use." AR-15s are widely owned across the US. Although they can look scary to those who don't know much about guns, they're really no more deadly than lots of other rifles. Handguns are the tool of choice for criminals, not rifles, and not the AR-15. Ergo, AR-15s should be constitutionally protected.

But a few states have banned the AR-15. This has already led to a circuit split, with the 2nd Circuit upholding recent bans adopted by NY and CT, and another circuit going the other way (I forget which).

So HBO is adding to the meme that AR-15s are military grade machine guns. A large part of the populace doesn't know what "semi-automatic" really means, nor that "AR" means Armalite, the original manufacturer, not "assault rifle."

The world heritage site is one of many that is under threat, with other famous sites facing oblivion including the Statue of Liberty, Venice, Easter Island and the Galapagos Islands.

The report was produced by the Union of Concerned Scientists, the UN Heritage body Unesco and the United Nations Environment Programme who warned that warmer winters in the UK are likely to boost populations of moles, rabbits and badgers. As a result of their increased burrowing, they could disturb the prehistoric monuments in Wiltshire, some of which weigh more than 40 tonnes.

She had never so much as touched a gun before she was in her late 70's. But over the years her neighborhood became somewhat less safe and, after my father died, she decided she'd better learn to use his guns for home protection.
I don't know what he had --- a couple of pistols and a shotgun, I think.

Anyway, after my brother put her through MANY experiments, the one gun she liked, the one she could use confidently, even with her creaky joints, was my BIL's AR-15. So that's what she has now.

170 Alternately, this could be yet another case of willful ignorance by the anti-gun assholes. They honestly do not seem to understand the difference between single-shot and burst-fire weapons most of the time, or at least seem to think that any gun that "looks sort of military-ish" is a burst-fire weapon.

Yup. And those damn, damn evil shoulder thingys that go up.

In vaguely related news, I was looking at the shot count for Chicago for the weekend and pondering how the Left is always blaming the Right for rejoicing in the numbers. Um. No. What number shootings do I want there to be in Chicago? *spins wheel* Zero. Zero sounds excellent to me.

I do not rejoice in the numbers. What I do is point out that the Party of Science seems hell bent on ignoring the week by week bloody (literally) evidence that the Left's pet policies on gun control do not work. I'm not happy about that, why would I be happy about that? But it is completely fair game to mention it.

an AR-15 is a customizable rifle... the modular design allows it to be personalized, adjusted, improved, maintained and repaired

the daily analogs are all over.

imagine if you had a flat tire, but you couldn't take the wheels off a car? how big is the industry for customized wheels?

the best stereo systems has been comprised of components for decades to allow for upgrades in media, performance, and repair/replace of broken equipment. The cassette deck, the reel-to-reel tape deck, the 8-track, the turntable (making a comeback), the CD player, the flash drive, speakers, headphone (etc, etc) all can be added/deleted to your music listening habbits

golf clubs are now modular, adjustable in design so the operator can change out the shaft and adjust the playing characteristics in between rounds

what does the USB connector allow you to do to your computer and handheld devices? add and change features without buying an entirely new device

Now get off my lawn before there's a new chalk-outline

I have no idea how they explained it, really. The previews were more than enough for me to laugh it off. The no guns, and the grrrrl power thing.

Heh, that's what gun grabbers don't know about the high powered assault death machine, or won't admit--they are dandy family guns, with the light recoil and adjustable stock--great for the ladies!

My mom is the same situation, except she used to hunt birds a lot. For awhile she couldn't find her shotgun, but when she redecorated it turned up jammed behind the headboard of her bed.

I'm not sure she can still work it, though. It's a Remington 1100. Maybe the AR would be a better option.

284 Mamadou Diallo, 61, (bottom right) of New York City has been arrested on charges of manslaughter after he beat Earl Nash (top right) to death with a tire iron for trying to rape his wife, police said. Nash slipped past the entrance of the Bronx apartment building on Monday night (left) around 10pm by following a resident in, according to PIX11. He knocked on a number of apartments asking for water, before Diallo's wife, who was at home with her sister, opened the door thinking it was her son. Nash forced his way in before he hit the wife in the head, ripped her clothes off and tried to rape her, according to police. The two women managed to fight Nash off long enough to call Diallo, who was in a car outside the Bronx apartment building. He rushed inside, found Nash and beat him in the elevator as Nash tried to fend him off with his belt. Nash later died in hospital from severe trauma to the head and body, and Diallo was arrested for manslaughter.

Swinging in a swing of grape-vines,
When her rival, the rejected,
Full of jealousy and hatred,
Cut the leafy swing asunder,
Cut in twain the twisted grape-vines,
And Nokomis fell affrighted
Downward through the evening twilight,
On the Muskoday, the meadow,
On the prairie full of blossoms.
"See! a star falls!" said the people;
"From the sky a star is falling!"

There among the ferns and mosses,
There among the prairie lilies,
On the Muskoday, the meadow,
In the moonlight and the starlight,
Fair Nokomis bore a daughter.
And she called her name Wenonah,
As the first-born of her daughters.
And the daughter of Nokomis
Grew up like the prairie lilies,
Grew a tall and slender maiden,
With the beauty of the moonlight,
With the beauty of the starlight.

Lying there among the lilies,
Wooed her with his words of sweetness,
Wooed her with his soft caresses,
Till she bore a son in sorrow,
Bore a son of love and sorrow.

DUN dun dun dun DUN dun dun dun

From the land of sky blue waters ....
From the land of pines, lofty balsams,
Comes the beer refreshing,
Hamm's, the beer refreshing.

DUN dun dun dun DUN dun dun dun

Brewed where nature works her wonders,
Aged for many moons, gently mellowed,
Hamm's the beer refreshing,
Hamm's the beer refreshing.
Hamm's.

397 First poem that interested me as a kid in love with Greek mythology was

The Isles of Greece by bad boy Byron

The isles of Greece, the isles of Greece!
Where burning Sappho loved and sung,
Where grew the arts of war and peace,
Where Delos rose, and Phoebus
sprung!
Eternal summer gilds them yet,
But all, except their sun, is set...

I think this was a strategic and critical error."

Agreed. However, the problem with getting the states to "push back" effectively would require that they be willing to go cold turkey and give up all those federal bribes...I mean funding.

You misspelled "humanity."

Most people don't think. They emote. They react. But very few individuals (on the grand scale) actually sit and logically think their way through things and then allow their beliefs and behaviors to change based on those thoughts.

Even many of those who claim (and may even honestly believe) that they do so are wrong. They don't reason, they rationalize.

It takes a great deal of effort which does not yield measurable dividends to teach oneself to think - to really reason and then follow those conclusions - so most people don't.

Somebody's gotta do it.

Besides, someone needs to point out that it isn't the "Feds" money to withhold anyways.

Governor Abbott can just direct Texas taxpayers to send Federal funds to Austin. Let the IRS come down here and prosecute the whole damn state. Let's see how that goes.

I met Bill Clinton when he was a keynote speaker at the NC Democrat convention in 1987. He wanted to meet with all the young ladies who volunteered to pull the event together. I will never forget the creepy handsy handshake he gave me, or how he tried to "connect" with a soulful, sultry look in his eyes. Made me want to vomit. The other girls, aged 19-60, sure bought the sh*t he was selling, though. Me, I thought he was an unattractive old perv, and chubby to boot. Now he's a skinny old perv, and still just as creepy.

The cool thing about labeling Hillary as crooked is it puts the press in an unwinnable position. If they continue to cover for her, it continues the belief they are in the tank for Hillary. If they go after her, they destroy her.
