1 Good Morning Morons. Today is Saturday, April 09, 2016. On this day in 1969 the "Chicago Eight" plead not guilty to federal charges of conspiracy to incite a riot at the 1968 Democratic National Convention in Chicago. However Bobby Searl was separated from the case when he refused to sit quietly in the court and after many interruptions and calling the judge names he was sentenced to 4 years in prison for contempt of court. He was the only one who did any prison time which was a huge mistake.

They said it was racist because the KY Derby had ties to the civil war and slavery. The KY Derby did not start until well after the Civil War and KY was not a Confederate State. The way I looked at it the Constitution was a legal contract between the States. When multiple States in the North started violating it and federal law the South had a right to declare that contract null and void.

The stage had already been set by the Tariffs of Abomination in which the South was paying extreme tariffs to finance public projects in the North. At the time of Lincoln an economic book I read said that SC alone was paying 75% of the federal tax.

I don't think so because primary elections are a relatively new thing. Both parties used to be all "open conventions". That remained until around 1912 when some States started "primaries". But as late as 1968 both parties still did the conventions for selecting candidates. Now all States run some type of primary or caucus to chose their candidate.

I used to play golf and watched the tourneys every weekend when I was married to my first hubby...a four-handicapper. After he died I stopped watching golf and didn't pick it up again for twenty years. When I did I was impressed with the current crop of golfers. Guys like Jordan Spieth and Zack Johnson make it well worth the time.

And the funniest thing happened when I started watching again. I was a lot calmer. Enjoy the afternoon, RK.

Had one of the Confederate States allowed the Feds to fire the first

That is true, MA was the hot bed of war calling. And the people in NY absolutely opposed it to the point of riots in NYC. But Lincoln did not need their permission.
Another odd fact that never gets mentioned is that almost all of the federal garrisons in the South had already closed up and left. Ft. Sumter was a holdout and Lincoln wanted that shot fired there, which is why instead of recalling them he dispatched a ship from NY.

97 Friday morning was infuriating. I was serious tempted to do some real
damage before leaving the stupid financial scam office that suckered me
in for a job interview. They called on Thursday when I was napping and I
failed to ascertain that they were one of the IT contract jobs I'd
recently applied for. The clues were there, such as asking me to arrived
in 'professional business attire', as if I owned any. I've never known
anyone looking for workers on the blue collar end of IT who would make
such a request. As it is I put on clothes I haven't worn in at least
five years and only very occasionally before that.

The moment I
stepped inside I knew something was wrong. This was some sort of
financial services operation. They bring in dozens of possible recruits
every year, hoping to find one or two guys with the capacity for evil to
sell their crap. Legit companies don't recruit this way.

This
was in North Hollywood, around Laurel and Victory. The general
shoddiness and number of homeless and vehicles that hinted at containing
those just a step above sleeping on the street. Yet only a short drive
up Laurel is Studio City, an area practically dripping with money.
Sometimes it annoys me living out in Castaic because of how far I have
to drive before the slightest prospect of a job appears but at least
anybody living on the streets is less obvious.

But he told about 100 people at the annual "signature" fundraising dinner for Nancy Pelosi, Democratic leader in the House of Representatives, that Trump had laid bare what some in the Republican party had been saying for years.

But wait up there's more!

It was Obama's fourth stop on a fundraising swing through San Francisco and Los Angeles. Earlier, in San Francisco, Obama held a private roundtable at the Potrero Hill home of Susan Sandler and Steve Philips for the Democratic National Committee with about 25 people who paid up to $33,400 to attend.

He started Friday in Los Angeles with a breakfast event at the Brentwood home of "Spiderman" actor Tobey Maguire, closed to the media, where an undisclosed number of $33,400-tickets raised money for the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee.

On Thursday, he spoke at a fundraising dinner for the DCCC in a tent with seating for about 80 people outside the Bel Air home of Alan Horn, chairman of Walt Disney Studios, and Cindy Horn, an environmental activist.
