191 "Saint Anthony tried hiding in a cave to escape the demons that plagued him. There were so many little demons in the cave though that Saint Anthony's servant had to carry him out because they had beaten him to death. When the hermits were gathered to Saint Anthony's corpse to mourn his death, Saint Anthony was revived. He demanded that his servants take him back to that cave where the demons had beaten him. When he got there he called out to the demons, and they came back as wild beasts to rip him to shreds. All of a sudden a bright light flashed, and the demons ran away. Saint Anthony knew that the light must have come from God, and he asked God where was he before when the demons attacked him. God replied, "I was here but I would see and abide to see thy battle, and because thou hast mainly fought and well maintained thy battle, I shall make thy name to be spread through all the world."

226 So I caught a few minutes of Maria B on Fox Business this morning . She had on a democrat and republican pundit to analyze what the current status of the race. The Demo pundit had been on the Five and Outnumbered numerous times, can't think of her name. Anyway, she was asked about Bernie now winning the last seven states and she ignored and started talking about Trump vs. Cruz and how Trump is still going to win the Rep. nominations because Math!

The Rep. pundit, young guy, said, no, it is likely going to go to a contested convention and it will be up to the individual campaigns to sway delegates. Unlike the Democrat race, where the SuperDelegates were locked up before the primaries and will coronate Hillary. He set a perfect trap for Dem pundit and she walked right into it. She started talking about even though Bernie has won all these states, the SuperDelegates will be bound to Hillary and he will not be able to get the votes needed to win the nom...

Rep. pundit leaped on that and looking at the camera, said, "Bernie supporters, please listen to what she said. Your votes do not matter, because the Democrat party decided who was the candidate before the primaries, and it is a totally corrupt system, in which the Democrat voter has NO say in who their candidate is...

Dem pundit had a "oh shit" look on her face.

Accordingly, I notified the Office of Cultural Appropriation regarding this complaint.

So far we have Netflix (had it forever) and when kid the older started college we got the Amazon Prime for college students, which is like half the price of regular Prime, you just need a college email account.

292 One of the main reasons I dislike Trump so viscerally now is because he could have been something good.

He could have issued his "how will Mexico pay for the wall" paper 3 months ago.

He could have boned up on abortion topic.

He could have research healthy policy to avoid his constant instinctual claim "the government will take care of it, but it will be done privately" which is Obamacare or Single Payer.

But no, that would require an investment of time.

Not acceptable. Let's just wing it.

He could have also moderated his tone a teensy weensy bit. I swear he has spent so much time calling his opponents liars or comparing them to child molesters that he's driven away those voters. I think he really believes if he can win the nomination, he's done. (Which kinda implies maybe Hillary and Bill set this up, no?) He's firing staff in key electoral states like Florida, Ohio and Iowa...its like the plan is to just sabotage the GOP and go home to NYC.

Expecting people to be something they are not leads to unnecessary disappointment. He is what he is. If he acted differently, he probably wouldn't have gotten this far. My opinion of Trump hasn't really changed. I have nothing against him personally, and have always liked him in his realm - which is more entertainment than anything else. I just don't want him to be president.

Nah, I think there's method in the madness.

It used to be that the number of delegates pretty much varied according to state population, which of course gave lefty states like NY and CA a lot more power in picking the nominee. The GOP in those states is of course very country-club "establishment" and more to the point, it's ineffective, can't elect a dog-catcher, much less deliver electoral votes for POTUS.

IIRC, it was in the Reagan era when they started basing the number of super-delegates on how effective the state party is in actually electing Republicans. Thus my state (VA,) gets a little credit for a GOP legislature and a majority of GOP Congressmen but is hit hard for having a Dem governor and 2 Dem Senators. Kentucky, with a lower population, has more delegates because they can win statewide elections for the GOP.

The system is far from perfect but not arbitrary or inane.

You've got blinders on. When it was Jeb, it was pure joy to watch. When it was Marco, it was fabulous. When it was Hillary, it was tremendous, although it made people nervous because of the WAR ON WYMYN narrative, but the only way to fight leftist narratives is to not alter your behavior to comply with their rules. Which is what he's doing.

But now that it's Cruz y'all maaaaaad.

I regret it, but it's the game being played. And you're perfectly willing to excuse it when the exact same tactics are directed at the size of Trump's "hands" and a picture of his wife - because, as I'm constantly told, he's a bad person so he deserves it ("it's fine if we do it, but not if he does, because we're right!") and she really is a whore. "There were nude pictures of her in the magazine he picked her out of" someone said yesterday.

How lost to stockholm syndrome are we that we're enforcing leftist style guides on our own candidates? And don't throw pop-up Trump socks in my face, I don't go in for criticism of Cruz, sorry.

380 Any guess on the Republican side?
Posted by: CharlieBrown'sDildo at April 06, 2016 12:15 PM (Zu3d9)

Not really. First I'd have to find a Republican. It's like asking whom Bigfoot likes in the primary.

All kidding aside, in a totally scientific, carefully weighted poll (i.e., guys I play ball with) I've only heard anyone express support for Trump, and that was pretty full-throated. Of course, here in CA we're awash in illegal aliens, so anyone talking about building a wall is going to get a lot of support from the Anglos (and perhaps surprisingly, some of the Latinos - the legal ones - too).

Posted by: Jay Guevara at April 06, 2016 12:21 PM (oKE6c)

381 I'm not seeing the problem kari. Both positions stated in your quote are reasonable interpretations of the events that have occurred, just given from opposite sides of the candidate support spectrum.

I don't see either of those statements as being ruckus raising.

Posted by: Dave in Fla at April 06, 2016 12:22 PM (E57Xa)

382 I think the northeastern republican support of Trump is due less to native liberalism than it is to the reality that we face, daily, of the left fast approaching their goal of totally annihilating free expression, functional capitalism, and the rule of law in polite society. I could literally lose my job if I came out in support of Trump in front of the head of HR at my company. The reason you don't see Mizzou style demonstrations in New England and the Mid-Atlantic is they don't need to hold them. These kids are ready for the revolution, for real. They know exactly what they're doing, and it's totally unspoken.

I fear you don't realize just how late the hour is with regard to the public contempt of Christianity and the unspoken consensus that the west is culpable for any and every sin committed. The totally false construct of "structural racism" to pin any and every evil on white men is a firmly established social concept where I live.

I'm not less conservative for supporting Trump. We have to fight back, on all fronts, immediately.

Posted by: Ghost of kari - certified inane at April 06, 2016 12:24 PM (xuouz)

383 You've got blinders on.

______________

You're a delusional fan boy.

Trump can't even answer the most basic questions without blowing up his campaign. He's a lazy piece of shit that thinks he's too smart to bone up on the issues. And that's with the media playing with him, even when they're treating him like a child he screws up.

He'll never be President, but he might slip in as the nominee. In which case no one will ever admit they voted for Donald Trump when he loses a landslide.

But sure, all the polling is a giant Ilimunati conspiracy. Except Trump's entire campaign has been spouting off polls.

Posted by: Tomahawk at April 06, 2016 12:24 PM (BILR8)

384 I liked Donald Trump as the boss in The Apprentice (although the show got old after a while); for his seemingly great kids; and as a supporter of golf, a keeper of the game's traditions, a developer of incredible courses, and as a proficient player.

He could be harsh and a bit over the top, but he was a symbol of wealth, productivity, and ambition. I had respect for the Trump "brand". He seemed to have a bit of a sense of humor about himself.

I've been appalled, however, at the way he has conducted his presidential campaign. It has made me lose my respect for him and left a sour taste about him as a person. And I believe he has damaged rather than enhanced the Trump brand.

Posted by: RM at April 06, 2016 12:25 PM (U3LtS)

385 Tomahawk, we're going to have to agree to disagree.

But first, you'll have to admit I never cited, much less dismissed, any polls, at any point in this thread, or any other. Nor did I mention the Illuminati, which you misspelled.

And I dispute your assertion that the media is "playing to him."

And have a good one.

If head to head polling is the crux of your argument, you're going to need to consult Cruz's numbers vs Hillary.

And then Kasich's.

Because get what? Cruz loses to her too.

So if those numbers are all you want to talk about, congratulations. You're a Kasich supporter.

391 Can't really spend much time reading the Trump/Cruz fan wars stuff, but is there any speculation as why Cruz won WI.?I would have thought that being a heavily unionized state trump would have taken it, but I guess his organizational turn out is just better?

The whole great lakes region is really its own thing, I'm learning. I attribute it to anti-NY/Yankee sentiment, plus Walker, Paul Ryan, Reince Priebus are all native sons of Wisconsin and they all stumped hard for Cruz.

394 One of the main reasons I dislike Trump so viscerally now is because he could have been something good.

I think he hasn't gotten enough credit for just how good he is at the basics of political stumping. If he had held any sort of office beforehand or, even if he hadn't, but just taken the time to learn the issues, be just a little more disciplined and not fall for conspiracy shit (a la Carly Fiorina), he would have been a force of nature.

Nice logic, but par for the course from someone with a serious man crush for Trump.

I guess with that logic, why not field David Duke? I bet he's got a decent immigration plan if you're a border hawk. Who cares if he loses every state?

Two candidates within a point of each other in almost all polling is a jump ball. I've even seen recent polls where Cruz is beating Hillary and the same poll shows Trump losing by nearly 10.

A candidate with 10+ points behind and a nearly 80% negative approval rating needs to just have a fork stuck in him, he's done.

Trump will never be President, and your Trump tears will be sweet.

I still say he was a product of the times. Don't forget, this force of nature started to run in 2012 and was done before really even getting out of the gate.

A lot of people wanted someone who would channel their anger. They got that in Trump but the rest of the package was just a bag of toys.

Trump's campaign is weak on organization and policy/detail, plus he shoots from the hip. One of those hip-shooting-from moments was criticism of Scott Walker's policies. Scott Walker has something like an 80% approval rating among Republicans in Wisconsin. So it is a combination of get-out-the vote (an area in which Cruz is strong) plus a self-inflicted wound. In January and February Trump actually led in WI in the Marquette polls. Where he went from there was his own doing.

401 So, I'm reading this article last night about the little girl that got abducted from Wal-Mart a few years ago. (In news recently because guy is now on trial and security video was released).

Mothers story was that she was shopping and:

1: Old dude walks up and offered to buy clothes for them.

2: He is staring intently at 8 yr old girl.

3: Wants to by girl some high heel "Woman's" shoes.

4: Then offers to buy McDonald's for family.

5: Mother allows little girl to go with him to the McDonald's at front of Wal-Mart.

6: Guy walks out with girl, rapes + kills her, then dumps body in church parking lot.

Now, to any person with two functioning brain cells, around about step #3 they would be looking for the nearest blunt object to start beating this guy senseless. How this woman even functions in day to day activities is a mystery to me.

Posted by: AshevilleRobert at April 06, 2016 12:52 PM (iq9sU)

402 The mother is even more of a train wreck because her first conversation with 911 she mentions she was raped when she was younger. Wouldn't that have made her MORE cautious of strangers around her kids? She should be charged with stupidity and never allowed to breed.
