4 Good Morning Morons. Today is Sunday, April 03, 2016. On this day in 1922 Uncle Joe Stalin took control of Russia and immediately began killing his opponents and consolidating power. His tinkering with the economy resulted in destroying most of the farms and produced a famine that killed millions. But inevitably there are useful idiots that still worship him.

Funny that "the law of the land" and "stare decisis" only apply to laws liberals like. In actuality "stare decisis" was only intended to apply to cases where there was no written law and liberals have been using it for decades in a manner that was not intended. In fact, Roe v Wade is one of those cases where it was mis-applied.

That "general welfare" clause is another liberal BS invention where it is not what the founders intended. It is really not even part of the Constitution. It was not added by the founders or really agreed on beforehand. It was added after the fact by the committee on style as an introduction to the Constitution.

54 I'm still perplexed at why any GOP candidate, let's forget Trump for a second, gets blindsided by questions about the legality of abortion or as I like to call it, baby murder?

The SCOTUS has removed that question from political and democratic consideration whether we like it or not and I certainly don't, access to abortion has been constitutionalized and subsequently can't be made illeagal.

The courts have arrogated to themselves the power to define the contours of what it thinks are allowable limitations.

It's completely outside the democratic and political process much like gay marriage and soon to be most LBGTQFHIJKSKW issues.

There never will be 60 votes in the senate to pass an amendment needless to say you will never be able to meet the requirements to pass it in a convention of the states.

The left is busy moving its agenda along and constitutionalizing those parts where it doesn't enjoy broad support.

Take for instance gay marriage, you had 30 states and the federal government on one side, i.e. The democrat and representative process side and the left simply had its apparatchiks in the only body that matters in our post constitutional society institute their agenda and preference.

They simply had the courts undo the will of the people, the descisons didn't even have the slightest constitutional reasoning or foundation but at the end of the day the left got what it wanted and is now roaming the battlefield shooting survivors.

Witness what we see in NC as a taste of what's to come.

It would either take an amendment or the SCOTUS overturning it's own decisions.

I do not see for the foreseeable future that the supreme court would overturn RvW. or that there would be 60 votes in the senate or 2/3rd of the states ratifying such a move.

A convention of the states will not get you that either, show me 36 states that would ratify such an amendment?

The only way to move the public on abortion is to show over and over the aftermath of an abortion, the media would likely censor such a move but that is the only way.

You would have to over and over again call it what it is, murder, that's unpleasant but that would be the only route to change the minds.

85 G'morning, all.

Need a little bit of technical help here.

As you may have heard, here in the city, a father son team was taken down by Baltimore police while they were seen pointing a pistol and a rifle.

The write-up discusses the killing potential of both weapons, and often refers to the rifle, which in the photos appears to be a Muddy Girl style AR-15 variant loaded with 25 rounds.

Absolutely not defending against the individual Officers actions, but something about the article and the photos of the weapons was bugging me the entire time I was driving back from S.C.
yesterday

In typical BCP photo-op format, the weapons are displayed, the magazines are in the picture, usually near the guns, and the rounds are laid out next to the magazines.

In this case, the mag for the rifle was shown base first, and no rounds were evident in the photo.

Looking closer, I swear that the indentation running the length of the magazine, the fact that it was a full mag with 25 rounds, and the almost visible feed lips at the far end lead me to wonder if this idiot of the highest order was actually out there with a stolen tacti-kooled out AR with a .22 cal upper, or bolt conversion, and a 25 round .22 cal magazine.

The only reason it jumps out at me is that Mrs VIA has almost the exact magazines, in 25 rd capacity for her dedicated .22 upper.

Feel free to zoom in or expand the image to look at the rifle magazine, including the indentation on the side, which I have not seen on a 5.56 mag before.

102 "The pistol looks like a .22, can't tell on the rifle without a closer view. "

Even with a closer look, it may not be possible to tell easily.

One of the features of the AR platform is the ability to swap from one caliber to another pretty easily.
And one of the really neat advantages of the platform is to be able to simply remove the bolt carrier group, and replace it with a .22lr conversion kit, with a .22 magazine, and plink all day at the lower .22 ammo price point.

If that is the case, the most obvious external indicator would be the magazine itself.

Conversion kits.

I'm sorry, but an Art V convention is a silly pipe dream because it assumes all the people in power will step down and step away and be happy to handover their power and graft and then they'll go play in the meadow with flowers and puppies.

If you want a good look at what an Art V convention will wind up looking like I suggest that you pay close attention to the upcoming GOP convention (and possibly DNC one).

Shenanigans galore will occur if no one can win on the 1st ballot then hello, Kasich or Ryan.

Even if Cruz or especially Trump were to get the magic number of 1237 before the convention-

if it's say 1239 or so votes- I'd expect shenanigans on the first ballot- with some committed voters somehow missing the vote.

An Art V convention will be no different except you'll lose all those pesky rights like right to bear arms and freedom of speech and due process.

122 I don't have much hope for an Art V because of the pervasive reach and influence of the progressive lackeys in the media, the legislatures, and the corporations, all of which have vested interests in maintaining the status quo. Art V might have worked for a country reasonably similar to what existed back in the 1700's, but the US today is no longer even the 1800's version of that country or society.

O'Sullivan's Law states that any organization or enterprise that is not expressly right wing will become left wing over time. We, as a country, have passed the O'Sullivan left wing index point.

There are a couple of pieces of siding in my backyard. That's always nice to wake up to.

Posted by: rickl at April 03, 2016 09:46 AM (sdi6R)

138 On military .22's: In the Louisiana and Texas Maneuvers that trained a hell of a lot of the WWII Army, old field pieces had single-shot .22 rifles mounted in the breech for artillery practice firing. Those were the same places you see the pictures of trucks with a big "TANK" sign on them driving in the field.

Many of us have Kimber (previous incarnation of the firm) target-style rifles, 8200's I think they are, that CMP fell heir to when the Army stopped using the .22 for primary rifle training, must have been about 1990. Good enough rifle to shoot to the state championship level, but not competitive in the current product environment for national level competition. Fine starter rifle which is lucky since nobody in the US market makes a beginner's target rifle anymore.

Remington actions originally made for Army training (in the 30's!) are still popular for machinist's-custom top level rifles; the Winchester 52 is the Harley Davidson/55 Chevy/Coffin-nose Cord rolled up together, but for anyone under, let's say 50, it's nothing but Anschutz.

Several posters at Zips place have said the same thing, and if you look at the Smith and Wesson Muddy Girl at the Smith and Wesson site, the magazine seems to match perfectly, as well as the 25 round capacity, which was cited in the police interview as being the same capacity on Team Dindu's rifle.

Again, no aspersions on the Officers actions.

Not that it was a bad book by any mean- I would grade it a B, So if you are looking for a solid fantasy noir type book, you might give it a whirl. It is about Sam, a human (used to be) who now collects souls that are to be damned. Think this was the third book book in the series, but I would not have known that by just reading it (which is nice since some series must be read in order).
