More fools they. It's not a magic cornucopia of riches. No more than is hosting the Olympics. Often the whole shebang nets out negative. Despite this cold hard reality, The Money, the local bazaari class, always _think_ it's cash on the hoof. And they'll stampede to get at it.

Morning, 'rons and 'ronettes. Thanks for the news, Vic.

The entertainer Will Rogers may have boasted that he never met a man he didn't like, but he could be pretty sharp-tongued when the situation called for it. During the run of the 1917 Ziegfeld Follies, he was performing his monologue when suddenly, a hatchet-faced woman down front called out, "Why aren't you in the army?"

Rogers paused, giving everyone in the audience time to turn around and look at the heckler, then drawled, "For the same reason, Ma'am, that you ain't in the Follies: physical disabilities."

And what would a Follies story be without a Follies beauty? Here, as yesterday, is the delicious Myrna Loy:

Left, right, and center have become meaningless. Left wing originally identified republicans and others who wanted to do away with the nobility, and right wing were the royalists.

Now in the US, right wing means pro-freedom and left-wing means Orwellian. Almost the exact opposite.

In Europe, left-wing means globalist and right-wing means nationalist - because their governments are all of the absolute central power model.

The problem is is that this "policy" came about by an NAACP lawsuit (surprise) against the state. So the courts, if there are any honest judges, have this decision to contend with. And considering the judiciary is now a rubber stamp of the regime, it's over.

75 Good morning all.

From this date in 1944 - Anzio, Italy

29 Mar, 1944 - The EZ Dog Journal
Another minor daylight raid but we still got 5 planes. 194th FA Bn started on a house wrecking program. Fired 30+ rds into their first house. Then 141st FA Bn shot around 20 to finally knock the house down.
One plane bombed the hospital (56th) during the night. 65 known casualties

The field hospital at Anzio came to be known as "Hell's Half Acre", receiving more than its share of bombardment. Some front line soldiers would downplay their injuries so that they could return to the front, because they felt safer at the front than being sitting ducks in the hospital.

I also believe there was already a 5-4 SCOTUS decision that favored a
suit against a local zoning board finding that they discriminated
against poor people even if it was not intentional. "Disparate Impact."

It's over.

I'm one of those roundly damned "cultural rejectionists" (always fun when those on the right adopt strangely Maoist epithets against others in their ranks) who has entirely cut ties with Hollyweird.

I didn't go cold turkey on that. Not all at once. I started with selective boycotting. And one of the things that was earliest on my boycott list was Disney.

That was back in the Nineties, when Disney corporate started looking at certain historic Civil War battlefields in Virginia, places that ought to be hallowed ground forever, trod only with hushed voices, in a spirit of sober reflection and honored memory. Places where Disney started pulling strings and paying off pols in order to plunk down yet another glitzy plastic Mauschwitz theme park on top.

NO thanks. Count me OUT.

Somehow, by some miracle, my mom's family survived Hitler intact. But they were separated because of the Iron Curtain for 15 years.

In 1961, an uncle was finally able to leave Hungary and come to the US. He was a very successful doctor and had considerable wealth relative to that commie shithole. He left behind everything except literally the clothes on his back. After being recertified as a doctor (the government would not recognize his medical qualifications) he became one of the most preeminent dermatologists in the country (severe burn specialist).

I tell this tale because I can see certain states doing the same thing to people wanting to flee to red states, if there are any left in the next 20 years.

I used to live in California and Disneyland was great back in the day - you could just go as an impulse visit and have a great time. Now it's fixed so unless you're a resort guest you have a second- or third-tier experience. And if you're a resort guest, unless you make plans months in advance, you'll still have an experience that certainly isn't worth the kings ransom you have to pay in admission.

I wish I could unwind at that damn place, but it's just too much stress to be a "vacation." Gotta navigate their dumb meal plan, along with getting reservations (and what good is a meal plan if you can't find a place to use it...?) and waiting for their busses and all of it.

221 The federal government is taking steps to fine schools that do not comply with first lady Michelle Obamas school lunch rules.

The U.S. Department of Agricultures Food and Nutrition Service issued a proposed rule Monday to codify parts of the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act, which was championed by Mrs. Obama.

The regulation would punish schools and state departments with fines for egregious or persistent disregard for the lunch rules that imposed sodium and calorie limits and banned white grains.

A West Virginia preschool teacher was threatened with fines for violating the rules by rewarding her students with candy for good behavior in June 2015. The teacher ultimately did not have to pay, but the school had to develop a corrective action plan with training on the policies.

222 My MIL lives in Winter Park, just outside Disney. We always had a free place to stay when we took Jr. Black to Disney every year when he was younger. Still, the expense of just our admission and the ungodly prices at their restaurants was enough to choke a horse. I'm glad those days are over because it was usually just a day spent standing in line for 1 1/2 hrs per ride.

The only things I liked Disney for were:
Haunted Mansion
Carousel of Progress (ancient as it is)
Pirates of the Caribbean (prior to adding Depp)
Big Thunder Mountain (when I didn't have a headache)
Space Mountain

Things I didn't like Disney for:
Cost
Heat
Crowds
Lines (see: crowds)
Europeans in socks and sandals

Michelle has been the spokesman, but that Healthy, Hunger-Free Act was developed by Soros' Center for American progress.

That's right, Soros is behind Obama's efforts to underfeed our kids.

Ridiculous stuff. My wife spent a good part of her career teaching early childhood. She knew that small pieces of candy (like smarties) made math lessons thoroughly understandable and enjoyable. No cleanup or rounding up of 'manipulatives' at the end of the lesson.

Leftists are determined to suck the joy out of life.

It's like the white Haj. Everyone feels the need to go at least once so you can say you've been.

Not me (he says, being the contrarian). I've never had the least desire to visit Disney properties. The only theme park I've ever wanted to go to was Universal in California, because for some reason, they built a replica of the Garden of Allah and that's as close as I'll ever get to time traveling to classic Hollywood:

I like the Mickey Mouse adventure cartoon strip that Floyd Gottfredson drew in the 1930s, but beyond that, the animation and cult leave me cold.

I wasn't aware that the government could fine a school for failure to abide by a voluntary act. They can withhold federal funds which I also view as unconstitutional, but they can't fine schools.

Of course since we have no opposition party they can do anything they want, whether it is legal or not. Of course the Hunger Free Kids act was passed in the last days of the Democrat controlled congress when the Democrats had 60 votes in the Senate.

But Republicans will never repeal it.

243 Shooting the down terrorist should be against policy, unless he is actively a danger then a shot to the brain stem is warranted. Rendering the terrorist safe means accounting for an IED, a gun shot will not do that. One needs an explosive disruptor. A hasty means would be a gerade or LAW. The soldier should have used appropriate force, he needs more training on the gernade and RPG range.
