Kasich: I Promise Amnesty Within 100 Days of Being Sworn In As President

He's promising comprehensive immigration reform plus a pathway to legalization (though not citizenship).

He rejects the notion of having to build the wall and secure the border first, though he allows he could wait "six months" for that before imposing amnesty.

Kasich wants to make sure that no one accuses him of having an IQ over 70. He really hates that.

11 I was totally on the fence about this man, but now I must admit that his "telling the truth" and "abrasive attitude" and his willingness to "get in their faces" about important issues has convinced me that Kasich is the man for me.

25 I've seen this movie.

Immediate Amnesty, no reform, no border security.

Its called "Rubes 3". A sequel to those other 2 movies where the based was promised Border Security if the compromised for Amnesty. They got millions of illegal aliens and no wall.

The first two movies bombed.

You have to wonder how out of touch Kaisch must be to play the "I promise not to do that thing in your mouth again" for the 3rd time.

26 I have to assume that the GOP wants Trump to be the nominee. I mean, you can't be this tone deaf. They wouldn't make movies with a plot like this because it would be unbelievable.

Posted by: Flyguy at March 14, 2016 12:18 PM (3sOO0)

27 I will say this again: a path to "legalization" IS a path to citizenship. If you attempt to write in some arbitrary rule that says "these legal resident aliens can apply for citizenship, but this other group of legal resident aliens cannot" it'll be struck down on 14th amendment grounds faster than you can say "Penumbras."

It is one thing to say, "We're not going to round up millions of illegals and fly them all back to their country of origin." It is something else then to add, "So we're just going to pretend they're here legally."

No. No. One thousand times: NO.

Fine, don't actively deport them. Instead, just actually start enforcing laws against employing them, don't let them get welfare benefits of any kind, etc.

Cruz kept making this distinction thinking he could have it both ways. Make Big Business happy and border hawks.

At least though Cruz learned and is now saying throw them all out and they can't come back.

At first, I thought Kasich was sticking in there because he wanted to make Trump's short list for VP if Trump takes the nomination since there isn't a pathway for him via a plurality of primary-won delegates. Now, I'm reasonably sure Kasich is betting on a contested convention. Without Rubio running, KasichIS the Establishment candidate.

99 Ted Cruz on legalization

"Asked about what to do with the people here illegally, however, he stressed that he had never tried to undo the goal of allowing them to stay.

"The amendment that I introduced removed the path to citizenship, but it did not change the underlying work permit from the Gang of Eight," he said during a recent visit to El Paso. ...

Mr. Cruz said recent polling indicated that people outside Washington support some reform, including legal status without citizenship.

Besides barring citizenship while instituting some level of legalization for those here already, Mr. Cruz has proposed increasing the number of green cards awarded annually, to 1.35 million from 675,000. He also wants to eliminate the per-country limit that he said left applicants from countries like Mexico, China and India hamstrung when they tried to gain legal entry to this country.

139 69 I will say this again: a path to "legalization" IS a path to citizenship. If you attempt to write in some arbitrary rule that says "these legal resident aliens can apply for citizenship, but this other group of legal resident aliens cannot" it'll be struck down on 14th amendment grounds faster than you can say "Penumbras."

_____

THIS!!

I've been saying this as well. It's bullshit meant to appease the great unwashed. But any form of legalization is a de facto granting of citizenship to illegals. And once those illegals become citizens (and Democrat voters), they can bring in their immediate family members as well. Do some quick math....20 million illegals, 4 immediate family members each which is probably a low estimate, that's 100 million new citizens within 5-10 years.

179 The most important thing in dealing with Illegal Immigration is to end the idea that Illegals somehow have a right to be here. It's why Bush and Kasich are so wrong, and Trump is so right.

Even if we don't deport 11 to 25 million, taking strong action will stem the inflow. If Illegals don't get welfare benefits, many will self-deport. If we enforce laws against employers, a lot more will self-deport.

Trump has made the point that ending birthright citizenship for anchor babies would only take an act of Congress. He's right. Doing so is critical to breaking a bad cycle.

Cruz also--again unlike Trump--doesn't admire Russian strongman Putin or criticizethe supposed lack of forcefulness employed by the Chinese when they put down the Tiananmen Square protests.

Cruz--once more unlike Trump--also doesn't think Planned Parenthood is a fabulous organization, a great organization.

They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, 30 slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; 31 they have no understanding, no fidelity, no love, no mercy. 32 Although they know God's righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them."

What is interesting to me... I mean other than your complete misconstruing of the Christian position on homosexuals (as with all sinners it is love the sinner but hate the sin)... is your inability to follow the logic of your honest Christianity==icky message.

All of the left... all of the moral relativism and moral decay... all of the feelz based society and SJW PC bullshit... ALL of it stems from the rejection of JudeoChristian ethics and moral absolutes and the fairly successful efforts to drive Christianity out of public discourse. This country needs more of that old time religion not less of it.

He has an outstanding chance of winning Ohio tomorrow, and a safe bet to finish strong second.

Has anyone considered whether the GOP has told Kasich to go public with his amnesty at this late date, knowing full well most folks have their minds made up, and that if he does win, they can then point to "amnesty" being a good position to take?

It seems weird to go public with a controversial statement like that when you are in the lead in a state you're expected to win. There must be a reason besides retardation.

Democratic turnout has dropped 37 percent overall in those eight states, but just 13 percent in the states that didn't enact new voter restrictions. To put it another way, Democratic voter turnout was 285 percent worse in states with new voter ID laws.

Or, just Dem turnout is worse across the board, in all states. Of course, their implication is "people are being denied the vote!" but the more obvious implication is "requiring ID is reducing Democrat voter fraud."

It is actually more complex then this.

There are 20-30M illegals. Since they vote overwhelmingly for the Dems, that gives them an extra 2-3M votes nationally.

On the one hand they are mostly in state(s) that vote Dem anyway - namely CA.

On the other hand, CA get most electoral votes/house seats because they have invited the illegals and won't deport them.

I used to comment at a blog - won't mention name-- where a 'regular' took a highly visible position in the Bush administration. He requested, and it was done, that every comment he had made over the years be erased.

418 all of the feelz based society and SJW PC bullshit... ALL of it stems from the rejection of JudeoChristian ethics and moral absolutes

It goes beyond that. They aren't just rejecting the Judeo-Christian holistic worldview, they are trying to replace it with their own, by force, and with totalitarian strength. Its a clash between two ethical, cultural, spiritual, and philosophical systems. The old is going away, the new is taking over.

This isn't new, its happened through history over and over. The question we must ask is this

Is this new system better, more stable, more able to produce progress, benefit to humanity, and cultural stability which results in peace, prosperity, and a positive future?

Because we've seen where the Judeo-Christian one took us through centuries: out of brutal, tribal barbarianism into today. Where will this new system take us? And how can it be a stable, positive influence if it changes every few days based on the latest whim of academia and leftist pundits?

506 Ohio had the second-highest number of drug overdose deaths nationwide in 2014, a number that's soaring, according to a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention report released Friday.

Heroin and prescription pain relievers took many of those 2,744 lives in Ohio. That's nearly one death every three hours last year.

In Kentucky, there were more than 1,000 deaths.

These grim totals placed both Ohio and Kentucky among the five states with the highest rates of drug overdose deaths as measured per 100,000 residents.

532 It appears he is being funded by George Soros...

Once again, the struggle of our life time will be between Nationalist vs. Globalist. A "conservative" who is also a globalist is no better than a "liberal" who is a globalist. The conservative vs. liberal dynamic is out of date for the battle has changed.

There have been other globalist movements in the past. Communism is one, and another is Islam. Today those still exist, especially Islam, but we have two others just as potent. One obvious one is Progressivism, but they are really today just another form of communist.

The other is harder to name...

They are most capitalist, although they too often end up more toward the crony wing. They certainly are fanatically for free trade even if it hurts American industry at home. They love free movement of labor. I guess we can call them: International Corporatist, or perhaps just Internationalist. The Neo-Cons (like Bill Kristol and Rubio) are the foreign policy wing of this movement, and the economic wing is people like Kasich.

Certain libertarians also are strangely seduced by the economic wing of globalism, the free movement of labor and trade portion is really appealing to them. No governments at all, just a world of freedom, Rand style. Or at lest in their naive minds that is what they think.

So the forces of Globalism are:

1. Progresivism / Communism
2. Islam
3. Internationalists (most Republican Globalist fall in this category)

They all disagree on what kind of Globalism it should be, but they all will work together to destroy Nationalists. How can you explain Kasich possibly getting help from George Soros, and Euro Technocrats bringing in hords of Muslims into Europe? Progressives who love abortion siding with Muslims who hate abortion?

That is because they all hate the nation state...thus allies in the same war. It is the nationalists who are disjointed now, and need leadership. Fine...you hate Trump. But tell me are you surprised people are rallying around a man who is proud to admit he is a American first guy (even if you think he is lying, the others cannot even bring themselves to lie)?

Note: Cruz has hurt himself by allowing Bush people into his operation, and being critical of the nationalist tone of Trump. Cruz should have embraced that tone faster, and probably could have done it better. He did not. Each day he is moving in the wrong direction. Instead of flanking Trump on Nationalist issues, he is flowing toward the Globalist position. Complaints about Trump's liberalism does not do much good in this fight.
