Between shelling and air raids this was quite a day. A concentration (about 90 rds in 5 minutes) of 88's hit in town today. One hit the Brig medics house. Tore off one corner. No other damage. One plane shot down during air raid.
Mar 11, 1944 - no entry
88 refers to the German 88 mm Flug Abwehr Kanon (FLAK gun).
Flug = flight
Abwehr = defense
Kanon = cannon
Primarily an air defense weapon, it was actually a multipurpose cannon that was used for anti-tank, antipersonnel and anti-aircraft missions. It was one of the workhorses of the German Artillery. A telescopic sight allowed for direct targeting in line-of-sight, without spotters or FO's, which made it very effective as an anti-tank weapon.

So okay. I've had 3 or 4 straight days of sharp stomach pains. I've had these attacks about 6 months ago for the first time. it followed eating very spicy food which I was never sensitive to before.
Irritable bowel? Gastritis? Hidden reflux? Ugh.

Yep. I thought I had some kind of stomach cancer. I was scared half to death. Went to the doc, did the full blood work and the upper and lower GI series and turned out to be IBS and I had reflux too. I always thought you had to taste bile to know you had reflux. Absolutely not the case, as it turns out.
My doc, since retired, was fantastic. Gave me a very workable list of dietary restrictions and meds and I have it all under control now.

Sorry to nitpick Muldoon but it is actually Flugzeug that you are defending against. Flugzeug is an aircraft.
Germans tend to build words this way by adding "zeug" to make it something that facilitates the word it has been added to. For example, "Werkzeug" means "tool", something that helps you do the work.

Had something similar, though a bit more intense (would get pukey in addition to the pains). Turned out it was a type of diverticulitus (meckel's or some sh*t), ultimately they ended up cutting a hunk of intestine out of me. Could have gone very wrong if they hadn't caught it in time. J.J., I had something similar about 6 weeks ago. But I also had a lot of burning that moved around from the high stomach area, to the belly button area to a bit lower. Just when I thought it was gone, it would come back. I started drinking Aloe Vera Juice. Lakewood Organic, to be exact. It went away. AVJ is supposed to be really good for a variety of stomach ailments.

I'm just giving my observation. It could be a case of "How can I convince these folks to not support this candidate - I know! They're Christians so I'll just emphasize how morally repugnant he is. They're simple and easily swayed by that."
Then again, maybe not. But the herd and flocking mentality prevalent in the chin-wagging crowd is pretty strong.

I saw a Christian piece that was fairly on point regarding that matter. Boiled down, it went "I'm supporting Trump for President, not Pope." and then spent two pages repeating this in more detail about how Trump isn't running for head of church and the writer isn't voting for head of church and will everyone please shut up already about how Trump has done un-Christian things that should disqualify him from being head of church because it's irrelevant, nobody's nominating him for head of church.
