For those who have been following along:
Good morning all. Still catching up from last week- From the first week in March 1944- Anzio Mar 3, 1944 - The EZ Dog Journal Those 170's are in action again. Shelling the harbor, the dumps, and HQ, everywhere. It will be a relief when we push out far enough to get him out of range of our rear area. Little action on the front other than patrolling. Intermittent rain. The German 170 mm guns outranged the American workhorse at Anzio- the 155 mm "Long Tom" by about 5,000 yards. Much more effective than the Anzio Annie rail guns, the 170's were the main nemesis of EZ Dog and the VI Corps counterbattery section. Mar 4, 1944 - The EZ Dog Journal Rather quiet. 3d and 56th Divs each put out a little action to get some high ground in their respective sectors. The attacks were successful. We keep looking for the Cassino front to break but guess the weather is giving them a tough problem. One thing for sure - for all Gerry can do we are going to meet in the not too distant future. And when we do!! One of the goals of the Anzio campaign was to establish a link-up between the VI Corps at Anzio and the 5th Army coming up the "boot". In early March EZ Dog had no way of knowing the Germans would keep this from happening until the first week of June, three more long months stuck on the beachhead. Rubio's in a tough spot. Anyone running for president has to have a strong ego, and who wants to give up when there's still a chance, however slight, that you could win?
I'm sure there's a ton of pressure to stay in to increase the odds of a brokeredcl convention, but he knows that won't reflect well on him, he won't be the chosen nominee, and it would hurt the party tremendously. He also probably feels Trump will be terrible, and must be stopped. So,will he drop out early enough to give Cruz a chance to win it outright, linger too long to hurt everyone, including himself, before dropping out, or stay in as a spoiler? I read the 'Rubio under pressure' piece. It's evident Rubio has no path to the nomination and some of his advisors are urging him to get out, telling him if he stays in and loses Florida, his home state, then he effectively kills his political career, at least for the foreseeable future. Other advisors are bullish, urging him to go for it.
I'm guessing Rubio's going for it, partly because he feels it's his destiny to be President and partly because hisclosest advisors are continually giving him shitty advice. It was these same Rubio advisors who called critics of Rubio's Gang of 8 adventure 'nativists' and worse. In a overarching sense, Rubio has displayed a troubling pattern, a habit of making the wrong moves and saying the wrong things and hiring the wrong people. I mean, come on: 'Campaigns don't need a ground game. We can do it with saturation advertising'? Really? That kind of stupidity didn't beat Trump and Cruz and wouldn't beat Hillary. Get out, Mario. Stuff the President of Mexico never talks about: Mexico's immigrantion laws are equally and in some cases more strict than the U.S. About a year ago, they also passed a law that taxes you for getting off a plane to visit any of the more popular areas. God help you if you try to get back on a plane to leave and don't have the little immigration card you're required to fill out (that they use instead of simply stamping your passport like sensible countries).
The main difference between U.S. and Mexican immigration laws is: 1. Mexico strictly enforces their laws, but it's not racist when they do it 2. If you do immigrate there (strangely popular with retired Canadians) they tax the living shit out of you. Posted by: Damiano at March 08, 2016 08:56 AM (XItbt) 140

Where in the Constitution does it say, "We the people of the rest of the country are responsible for bailing out citizens of a municipality from their own stupidity"? I seem to recall a fire that leveled and entire city and Congress, after a floor debate, decided that they felt compelled to donate out of their own, personal money to help but it was specifically not within the proper role of the federal government to allocate tax dollars. *sigh* Those where the days. So you want to know just how bad the Flint Michigan water supply problem really is?
Read : http://preview.tinyurl.com/j3olx82 More than half of the sites, 340, were from homes with copper service lines, including 19 of the 59 sites that tested above the 15 ppb limit for lead. Of the nearly 100 sites served by galvanized pipe, 11 reported elevated lead levels. There is another report that is linked in the above which states : 90% of homes have less than the 15ppb limit. 5 homes exceed 100ppb. The city is in the national spotlight after elevated blood lead levels were discovered in some Flint children after the city changed its water source (How many is 'some'?) Flint has a population of approximately 100k and there are approximately 50k housing units. And the national outrage over the Flint Michigan water problem, and the demand the Republican Governor resign is over five houses, and 'some' number of children. Let us all panic 'for the children'. Curley Efect:
James Michael Curley, a four-time mayor of Boston, used wasteful redistribution to his poor Irish constituents and incendiary rhetoric to encourage richer citizens to emigrate from Boston, thereby shaping the electorate in his favor. As a consequence, Boston stagnated, but Curley kept winning elections. We present a model of using redistributive politics to shape the electorate, and show that this model yields a number of predictions opposite from the more standard frameworks of political competition, yet consistent with empirical evidence. http://scholar.harvard.edu/files/glaeser/files/curley_effect_1.pdf Posted by: Franklin Raines at March 08, 2016 09:22 AM (e8kgV) 237

Almost every animal is cute when small and often grows up to be a handsome animal. There is never a point in a possum's life when it is cute.
And yet, I kind of like them. She probably gets 60% of every dollar they pick up and I assume there might be some insurance policies at play (corporate and personal). She will get something from the businesses and the policies, that's seems certain.
And IMO she deserves to, given the physical danger she was in and the negligence the hotels displayed. How much does she deserve? So much Trump hate from over half the FOX geniuses. Stirewalt on now saying Trump could win Michigan because "he wants to start a trade war". Others say this as well, that any tough negotiation equals starting a trade war, then we all lose.
Good grief. The current policy on both sides is to surrender early and often, because they must keep China and Mexico happy. So trade deficits keep increasing for decades, except a brief pause under Reagan. But Bush and his globalists got back in and easy money Greenspan, and deficits have gotten worse ever since. Fighting for American jobs and at least a balance in trade is not "starting a trade war". The globalists and corporatists have brainwashed Americans with this "global free trade" BS, as if the other countries play fair, and all just want freedom for their people. The American oligarchs want the cheap slave labor access, and foreign oligarchs will use their "slaves" to enrich themselves. Surrendering to half a trillion a year in trade deficits is the wrong way to avoid "threats of war" from China. Strategic fair trade is the right way to trade and maintain America First government. But Stirewalt says Trump wants to start a trade war, because he wants to reverse the deficits. Establishment Agitprop all day. China Mexico need us more than we need them ... yet we surrender early and often. Same with the military in a way. We need strong military, but we don't have to be Europe's 911 service. Strong allies need to fund their own military. Posted by: Illiniwek at March 08, 2016 09:34 AM (eUbDe) 288

Like most feghoots, it turns out to be true. Well, an "element of truth": A big producer of field drainage tubing in western Ohio had a summer intern who was an ancient history major. Intern wanted to do a little side research project to figure out why Romans used an arch-shaped tile, when round calf-tiles were so much easier to make. They modified a machine to slit the familiar round plastic, and insert a perforated piece of perforated poly sheet, creating a rough arch shape with the flat on the bottom. It drew twice as much groundwater. The first book ever written in Latin was on farm management. It was by that guy who always said Furthermore, Cathage Must Be Destroyed. You know why women are dumber than men? Because you guys have Melissa Harris Perry, and Sally Kohn. Those two drag the whole average down like solid steel skyscrapers.
