1 Good Morning Morons. Today is Tuesday, March 01, 2016. On this day in 1781 the Continental Congress adopted the Articles of Confederation. They proved to be too week for the US and were later scrapped for the Constitution.

2 And today is Super Tuesday where the candidates will vie for delegates across the country.

7 Your second amendment rights can be suspended forever for pushing your wife or girlfriend. Justice Thomas wants to know what other Constitutional right can be suspended for a misdemeanor. I had always thought that before a suspension you had to be convicted in a court of a felony. I guess not. The government has been more than glad to ban gun ownership for the slightest infraction. The second amendment is the most abused of the bill of rights.

Super Tuesday in Tennessee.....I'll be heading out shortly in what I
fear is a forgone failing attempt to give Ted Cruz some momentum and
delegates. And since I fully expect Trump to roll here (and, honestly,
everywhere except Texas) I've been considering how I'm gonna proceed
after the Cruz crash and burn.

Thing is, I SUSPECT
Trump is lying to me about many things, but I KNOW Rubio has and still
refuses to recant. So, support a guy who might keep some of his
promises or might frag everything I believe in, support a guy who I know
is a liar and pro amnesty, or pick up my ball and go home as Erickson
et al are calling for?

I can't support Rubio because I
think if Immigration reform a la Gang of Eight passes, its game over.
Why we would EVER consider giving citizenship to people whose first act
in our country was to break the law is beyond me, but..........I could
be happy with a guest worker program AFTER those here illegally go home
and come back vetted and registered etc with NO CHANCE of citizenship
EVER.

Also, not gonna sit home if it is Trump, because
no matter what else he is, he is nowhere near as bad as Clinton. That
bitch must go down

And to Erickson and crew....go ahead and sit home......look at turnout......your vote has already been replaced ten fold

West Baltimore

Baltimore is stabilizing and on the right track.

Amid a spike in

1997.

52 He was a drug dealer in a neighborhood rife with drugs. How does that make him a "good man".

It's only because of your white privilege that you can't understand. You look upon addicts as a scourge upon your community. Other people look upon them as 'consumers' of a product that enriches the sellers of that product, bringing cash and jobs. 'Outside' consumers (outside of the drug area) venture into the drug zones bringing cellphones and thick wallets, creating further opportunities to enrich petty thieves looking to supplement their incomes.

I shouldn't have to explain this to you.

Posted by: Mario Rubio at March 01, 2016 07:01 AM (fbovC)

53 Off to the polls soon. I wanted to post my response to ace's question last night, as to why I believe Trump is the best choice.

Sorry for tl;dr:

Quite honestly, Trump is about the last person I ever expected to vote for. His record and prior comments weren't particularly conservative. He was a philanderer with almost as many marriages as children. He seemed like big city sleaze to me. When my coworker told me he was running a year ago, I rolled my eyes and said, "conservatives will never support him."

But now, I am convinced that he is not only the best candidate, but the only one that conservatives should choose.

What changed my mind? How can I support this guy, who has been all over the map on every issue throughout the years? Can't I see the con?

And here is my response: two nights ago George Lopez tweeted a drawing of an Hispanic man atop a tower of skulls, holding Trump's severed head aloft, ominously declaring this was how to Make America Great Again.

The left on twitter and elsewhere has been announcing or 'joking' that they want to kill Trump for weeks, ever since he started winning. This goes from demisexual otherkin tumblrites all the way to New York Times columnists.

Before the death threats, the left excommunicated him for his comments on criminals crossing the border from Mexico. Because of an idle, castaway comment, Macy's and NBC terminated lucrative deals, and the outrage machine demanded apologies.

I fully expected Trump to fold after that, to 'apologize' or 'clarify' or any of a million things Republicans usually do. But he didn't.

He doubled down.

Macy's was always crap, he announced, and he was done with NBC anyway. He held rallies. He brought up victims. He shined attention on the problem where the rest of the field wanted to ignore it. He fought, the first person to do so since GamerGate had failed.

If Trump were lying to conservatives to advance liberal policies, he's doing it at great risk and great cost. Does anyone see a scenario where Trump will ever reverse the hatred of the radical (which is to say, mainstream) left toward him? And knowing what we know about his temperament, would he want to?

Trump has burned his ships, and I'd venture his commitment has cost him more than it has cost me, and it has put his life in danger. So that is why I am supporting him: because he has proved to my satisfaction that he is committed to this now.

One thing to leave you with: Trump is wearing a bullet proof vest to his events, and that isn't because they are comfortable or stylish. It's because this - challenging the PC mafia, the establishment, the system- is dangerous.

According to its annual 10-K filing on Monday, Yahoo wrote: assessing the fair value of goodwill could cause the Company to consider some portion or all of the remaining goodwill of the Tumblr reporting unit to become impaired.

At the time of the acquisition, Yahoo said the goodwill portion of the deal was roughly $750 million.

Goodwill being the defensive accounting excuse for paying too much for something. Tends not to work out well.

78 I just scanned those figures on the 538 website and there are some serious eye openers in that stuff. In almost every single State on Super Tuesday Trump has been beaten up badly on fund raising but is still in the lead in every State. That boggles my mind as money drives politics and always has. If everyone doesn't understand by now that something fundamental has changed during this Primary season they are being deliberately naive.

His opponents have raised more than 10X what he raised in some States and he is still kicking their A$$.

Trump is so far ahead in some States that he more than doubles the combined percentages of the Second and Third place Candidates.

Well, we will get some answers as to the accuracy of Teh Polls tonight. I don't trust any of them. Even the ones that say what I want them to say.

Seems too easy to come up with push polls that seem to be neutral, but favor the agenda of the poll-taker (or the company/candidate paying for the poll). And when polls tout Big Swings in their numbers, one has to remember that it could be nothing has changed; they're asking questions of different people.

What the hell is that course of study at a university??
Posted by: colin at March 01, 2016 06:55 AM (VqjZf)

Actually rhetoric and composition was the cornerstone of a classical education and we could use some of that now. It teaches you how to argue and how to identify a flawed argument.

In the course of a classical education you would be educated first in the Trivium, consisting of grammar, logic, and rhetoric, and then move on to the quadrivium of arithmetic, geometry, astronomy, and music. Or as I think it would translate now, the foundational disciplines of language, math, and rhetoric/analytical thinking, and then arts and sciences (accounting/economics, applied math, theoretical sciences, arts = a rough analogue to the quadrivium as listed above). This would all probably take 6-8 years and then students could specialize. In my little universe. A college founded to look like that would pump out confident, critically thinking citizens necessary to maintain a republic instead of today's corporate asset/social justice agitator dichotomy, designed to be ruled.

Of course this is all moot because that title is a cover for her real position of social justice reeducator, but I thought I'd mention it.

213 The big day is finally here in Texas, and I have reached a decision. I'm not going to vote in the primary because I don't think any of them has earned my vote.

By my reckoning Kasich and Carson are non-factors so here's where I'm at with the rest:

If we could somehow build a GOP golem with Rubio's public speaking ability, Cruz's conservative values, and Trump's brashness and willingness to face down both the left- and right-wing establishments and political correctness, then I'd have my man.

But what we have in Trump is someone who'll keep it real all right, but who is also an egomaniacal jackass that can't keep himself under control. In Cruz we get the right conservative instincts, but it comes in an oily package that has failed to muster the support of even a single professional colleague, even an Arch-Tea Partier like Jeff Sessions. In Rubio we get a communicator who is unfortunately also a flip-flopping liar.

When we get to the general I will be there to pull the lever for our candidate. For now, well, let's just say I'm glad to be leaving town this afternoon.

227 And by the way, I'm praying Sessions gets the veep slot if Rump gets the nod.

But Sessions is as old as Trump and surely wouldn't be available for much in 4/8 years. I'd rather it be somebody younger. Cruz would of been a good pick but I think that bridge is burned.

228 Pretty much, yeah. Odds are stacked against anything but a Hilory vs. Teh Donald in November, but I'm giving roughly equal odds to shenanigans in both Parties tossing out those two and putting in younger, pretty (and more despicably phony) candidates at their respective conventions.

Actually, it doesn't. And it would be impossible for me to sneer more condescendingly.

I sat here day after day in 2012 being called every name in the book because I wouldn't support true conservatives like Newt or Santorum instead of Romney because Romney was a disaster RINO. This was before AOSHQ because a happy, happy, joy, joy place and insults were much more popular.

And now many of those same people are proudly supporting a guy who is so far left of Romney they aren't even on the same page. I don't need laborious explanations or rationalizations, I've heard them all. We have one of the best Constitutional Conservative candidates we've had in decades, not perfect but pretty damn good. And instead of supporting him many of those who screamed RINO loudest are now supporting Trump over Cruz.

I'm quite satisfied with my sneering condescension where it is appropriate.

Maybe if it was closer, maybe if he wasn't ahead by as much, I might have bubbled his name. But for some reason I hesitated.
So I understand why some people have trouble voting Trump. But don't get me wrong, come November if it's Orange One versus the Pantsuit, I will be done in that booth in a second.

277 "We have one of the best Constitutional Conservative candidates we've had in decades" JackStraw

That's a powerful reason he would make a great judge. To take on the globalist Goliath, and their corporate money, and the various powerful factions that have congealed over the years ... takes much more than that. Ted has fired up a rather select base, but is still a freshman senator with not executive experience.

On TPP Trump is more "conservative", on the border he is about the same. And Trump has a long history of dealing with large powerful entities as an executive.

Trump has drawn huge crowds and motivated people to reengage in their government. That will be useful as the country faces down the debt other politicians have refused to face. Cruz tries to force that but doesn't have it.

Trump is the best "weapon" for the task at hand for many reasons, as I see it. Those taking this "principled stand" have other priorities which I think I also understand .... I just don't agree those more academic points are in a package (Cruz) that is battle tested for the US versus the globalists and communists WAR ... the battle for Americanism surviving.

Maybe all those old conservatives are experienced and wise, not senile and weak. None are screaming about Trump being perfect and sent by God to save our nation. They are being pragmatic about the powerful forces controlling the country, including most Republicans since the Bush wing took control after Reagan. Those old conservatives got kicked out of the new age Conservative Inc places like National Review.

Oh please. We didn't get to the state we are in the last 4 years. We've been on a downward slope since the '30s with only a few brief respites in between.

I've been watching Trump since I was a kid which is a long time ago. He has always been a larger than life salesman but what he has never been is someone remotely interested in the direction of the country.

All these Old Conservatives you talk about were sitting here last cycle and the cycle before that loudly proclaiming that they would sit out the election rather than vote for a RINO. And now they have a guy who spent most of his 70 years on the globe as a prototypical Manhattan limousine liberal and they are championing him over what they claim they were looking for all along while they merrily trashed anyone who didn't agree with them.
