I'd go with "cooked", but hmmm.

This is one of the key issues (which will go unreported) from the Obama era - the complete and utter destruction of any Federal "data". Big numbers are inherently inaccurate, but the willingness to make s*** up at the level of the current administration is breathtaking. Make Clinton the First look good.

29 Last week, an Israeli security source said Davids Sling will become operational this year, and is an inseparable part of Israeli air defenses.

On December 21, the Defense Ministry and the Pentagons Missile Defense Agency completed the last phase of trials.

The trials took place in southern Israel and were led by Rafael Advanced Defense Systems, which is developing Davids Sling, together with the US defense company Raytheon.

Davids Sling can intercept short-range to medium-range rockets and ballistic missiles, including guided projectiles, cruise missiles, aircraft, and drones. Its range of coverage means it can destroy incoming threats over enemy territory, away from Israeli skies.

32 Not so affordable after all

I read the below piece earlier, on the Washington Free Beacon site, and couldn't believe it, yet I could. It's in today's headlines there.

Obamacare Co-Ops Used Accounting Gimmick Approved by Feds

Failed co-ops reported net assets despite losing millions

http://freebeacon.com/issues/obamacare-co-ops-used-accounting-gimmick-approved-by-feds/

Co-ops created under Obamacare reported net assets despite losing millions because they used an accounting trick approved by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

Tax filings for 18 co-ops, including nine that collapsed in 2015, also revealed that co-op CEOs were paid handsomely before many had to shut down.

In July 2015, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services amended its agreement with co-ops, allowing them to list $2.4 billion in loans they received from taxpayers as assets.

I remember that day well. I was living on the South Shore on a private lane down by the bay. We used to get a ton of ocean affect snow there and instead of 3 feet we had drifts of up to 6 feet and because it was a private lane the town didn't plow the lane.

By the time they finally started to plow there was so much snow that the plow got stuck and they had to send in a front end loader to dig it out.

We were snowed in for 3 days, without power for 2. Had to use the wood stove for heat and cooking. It was pretty fun actually.

SPECIAL: Valley prepares for next wave of Central American children

...While that bill never passed, "We also added about $750 million to help Central America beef up its security, fight the drug gangs, provide some economic assistance," said Cuellar, "Because the more people we get to stay over there, the less people come in."

Another $80 million has gone to help Mexico secure its southern border with Guatemala, where along with Honduras, the U.S. government has mounted an ad campaign warning what to expect from human traffickers. Zamora can tick over a list of abuses, "From child molestation to raping some of these Central American women, holding them for extortion for extra money, or leaving them out in the brush to die."

81 I keep hearing self-identified conservative backers of The Donald saying things like "well, he's not a 'traditional' conservative" - to which I can only reply "well, if by 'not a 'traditional' conservative' you mean 'a liberal' then I totally agree with you".

I mean, I get it. I get the anger. I get that people are pissed. I get that people want to burn the GOPe to the ground. I get that because I'm pissed and I want to burn the GOPe to the ground. And nominating Trump, as will be more-or-less finalized tonight, will certainly accomplish that. I'll use that to salve my wounds while The Wicked Witch of Westchester is being sworn-in on 20JAN17.

I also get that the sort of anger that's out there - sort of like you've just taken a hot pineapple up the poop shoot and you can't even identify who did the inserting - can be blinding. Hence, Trump - a New York liberal who's convinced all of right-thinking America that he's the best possible mix of all things conservatives hold dear.

And while seeing The Witch take the oath of office is going to hurt something fierce, knowing that The Math of this country (and the global economy as a whole) is going to probably catch up to us in the next 2-3 years - on her watch - will be some comfort while I'm diving in my nearest dumpster for the morning's bounty.

I support I "get" all of this. But what I don't "get" is how, for the love of God, did we wind-up here in the first place?

102 Welp.

Here we are on the culmination of roughly 30 years of fantasy gov't initiated by George HW Bush-

and the beginning of its completion over the next 8 years.

In 2 years, Reagan was able to get us out of a worse economic situation that he inherited from Carter and into a glorious booming economy-

that benefited every single American and increased American power abroad.

But, nope that wasn't good enough.

Cuz the pigs of the GOPe, DNCe and their various cronies weren't getting enough gravy-

I believe Cruz is the best hope of getting out of this situation-

he's not Reagan but he's the closest thing we've got.

Please vote wisely.

Even if you're for Trump, I think you'll agree that having Cruz and him mano a mano will keep Trump from drifting to the left.

The others- Mario, Kasich, Carson- aren't worth talking about.

Carson because he can't win at all.

Mario, Kasich - because they're simply GOPe shills and more of the same.

"Read my lips, no new taxes"

He then proceeded to sign into law the largest tax increase in history. Betrayal after betrayal finally lead to become impeachment off the table right after an election that gave a certain political party its largest majority in the HoR ever.

Its not hard to understand at all.

I've been thinking that of that promise is actually kept in any sense than this is the way Trump will do it - dock the foreign aid to Mexico. I doubt Mexico will be writing us a check.

Anyone wondered what is likely to happen in Mexico when/if the wall is built? VDH pointed out long ago that illegal immigration acted as a safety valve for the Mexican government and helped prevent true reform there, so the long-term effect may be beneficial, but I haven't seen any discussion of what the short-term effects will be. The cartels are a bigger player than when VDH was originally writing, too.

125 Everyone is pissed (rightly so) about the burgeoning entitlement 'industry' in this country, but what is NEVER mentioned - and this goes to demonstrate the effectiveness of the control of "information" - is the corporate entitlement system in this country. Virtually every large segment of our corporate economy is subsidized in one way or another. That subsidization is what is fueling the pissed offedness of this election cycle. It is what is driving the vile messaging and the blatant astroturfing. It is what is sustaining a couple of the most corrupt candidates (my opinion). It is obviously what is driving - and has been driving for more than two decades - the open borders bullshit in this country.

I can't even believe that this - the slimmiest, the most corruptable and already massively corrupt entitlement structure in this country is all but totally ignored.

We are paying large corporations and large segments of our business economy - to design the political system that best serves them. Until this is addressed, it will be impossible to fix our politics and it will guarantee the growing acceptance of socialism.

Think of all the little things you notice and react to - not just weather, road condition, traffic, but the behavior of the driver in front of you (distracted by kid? looks lost and erratic? in a hurry and making quick lane changes?). It started before that, but I think that was where the slide became irreversible. Reagan, for all his good points, did not shrink government. The last Republican president before him was Nixon, who wasn't exactly a Small Government Conservative.

I think it's time Conservatives stop deluding ourselves; the Republican Party has not been a small government, self-governance party in a very, very long time.

Trump, in many ways, is the acme of what the Republican Party has stood for in fact, if not in rhetoric for quite a while. Plus an unhealthy dose of narcissism. He's for Government Power wielded "in a good way." He's for expansion of Government Power "for conservative ends." He believes that the government can and should "take care of everyone."

Tell me how that's significantly different from either Bush. And that's why Team Burn it Down is so happy with Trump's presidency. If you can defend "Republicans" without admitting that Trump is a perfect example of what it has meant (in fact, if not in rhetoric) to be a Republican since at least 2000 (and really since 1988, or even before), then you're supporting the Party for its own sake, and not because it represents Conservative values.

If Conservatives want a voice in national politics - one that says "That government governs best which governs least" - then the fact is the Republican Party must be brought down to "other" status, and something else must rise in its place.

Trump is more conservative than Cruz on TPP, and has been consistent on that issue since the late 1980's. Cruz is about the same as Trump on immigration. Both want a pause on the H-1Bs and green cards (as I have read it) till the Americans are filling positions and are employed first. Oh?

Now, after 24 or more years of unrestrained growth of government power, reach and control---NOW you want me to believe you fucking care?

No.

You're meal bowl is being threatened and you want me to fight for you to keep it and go back to the scraps you were content to throw from time to time.

Notice how all these fucking fuckers that are so bent out of shape over the prospect of a Trump Presidency are NOT doing one damned thing, NOT proposing one damned thing that will do away with and prevent the evils of a Trump Presidency---reducing the size, scope and reach of the federal government?

RIGHT FUCKING NOW the GOPe in Congress could introduce a half-dozen, a dozen bills or more that would make a Trump Presidency a footnote.

And they could sell it like hotcakes as no one could accuse them of racism for doing such.

But they are not, are they?

Because it's not the power of the Presidency that horrifies them--it's someone they don't like having that power.

I want to stick it to the GOPe too, but if that's all I'm doing, I have to pass. Does voting for Trump make the party more legitimately conservative in the way they govern? If so, I'd love to know how.

He's them with the mask removed. He's them without hiding. Well, and (probably) less amnesty. And he will show the world what the Republican Establishment is all about.

And at *that point* there's some hope that Conservatives will finally quit living in their nostalgic memories of Reagan and start deciding they'd like some current representation.

You're hiding a false premise in your question. How does ANY Republican President "get us to an America with more limited government, etc. etc.?"

Rubio is pro-Amnesty, and the Establishment's current darling, which tells me he's not actually all that Conservative.

The Establishment has already completely ruled out working with Ted Cruz for even a moment.

Who else is there?

Out of the 11 Co-op's still in existence, nine of them are on death watch by the HHS and they won't last out the year. They most certainly won't be out there subsidizing insurance policies for the 2017 CY when it opens the first week in November just when the next round of hikes start hitting people.

The rest of Obamacare will self destruct by the end of the year now that the feds can't give any more $$$ to the insurance companies to stem their losses.

I had a response ready to go to that JWF open letter, but this says it better.

The GOPe and its apologists need to look reality in the face: we are not a constitutional republic and we will never again be a constitutional republic. Leave aside the fact that at least 52% of the people in this country are diseducated parasites whose only experience with the current government - and, in fact, the only experience they want - is "gimme mine, whitey!" Leave aside the fact that the GOPe has, for over forty years, betrayed the constitution by allowing the government to metastasize beyond the nightmares of the founding fathers into an all-invasive cuttlefish able and willing to drain the pockets of the less than 50% who actually work for a living in order to fatten themselves.

The left has no interest in a constitutional republic. They want their full-on fascism. They want us, if not poor and silenced, in camps. They will brook no dissent and view bipartisanship as the refuge of the gullible. The left is the enemy. The GOPe does not care about the constitution; they only want to be able to swill at the public trough without fear or respite. The GOP is the enemy.

The Republic is dead. Obama is our Julius Caesar. Trump or Rubio or Hillary or Sanders are Octavian. We are now an empire whose populace exist, flourish or die at the whim of the rulers.

So if we must be an empire, then give me the emperor who will destroy my enemies.

Ace made a good point in the last podcast. Trump's one-liners went over well when there were 10 candidates on the stage. Now that the field has been winnowed down, he sounds like an ass whenever he asked to give, you know, details. He does not know what he is talking about. He thinks he can get by on bluster and insults.

He's cringe-inducing now and will be even worse in a debate against Hill. Hill will lie her head off, of course, but she'll also rattle off bs plans that will make she look reasonable and experienced compared to Trump - because all Trump can do is stand there and say "you're a mess" and brag about how he's a winner. Jesus, it will be awful.

Every Dem I know will crawl over ground glass to vote against him. Most of the Republicans I know will not vote or him at all. So - here comes 4 years of Empress Cankles and the final nail in the coffin of the Republic.

And Trump will be back in his luxury penthouse enjoying the high life.

420 If anyone wants to see the exact level of (well deserved) mockery the Media and the Left are about bestow Donald Trump here's you appetizer: Last Week Tonight with John Oliver: Donald Trump.

If your a strident Trump supporter it's worth you time to see what you're going to be up against in the General Election. The Republican Establishment are pikers compared to libs.

If you do not support Donald Trump and want a feel good story for the day I recommend watching also. I haven't laughed this hard at a lib in a LONG time.

I don't know how to write the link down on pixy but google it, it's starting to blow up. I'd imagine Ace or one of the Cob's will post about it soon.

You have been visited by the ghost of journalism past. You are now cursed with seven years of bad luck for laughing at a John Oliver segment.

The entire thing is a travesty of reporting, even by Daily Show standards, which a decade of liberal fantasizing should have made you realize is nothing more than a propaganda organ. Allowing yourself to be lulled into chuckles by smug twit John Oliver, who mocked white Europeans as a dying race literally the day before the Bataclan massacre, is enormously embarrassing.

Ok I'm done telling you off. What's wrong with the segment?

The very book Oliver holds up as evidence that Trump's name is Drumpf traces the first written example of the Trump family name to 1608, when it was changed from Trumpf.

So eat a fucking dick, John, you lying limey knob.

The spat with Jon Stewart where Trump "made fun of Jon's Jewish name?" Trump said Jon shouldn't be ashamed of the name Liebowitz. Stewart's response? "You shouldn't be ashamed of your real name either, which is Fuckface Von Nervestick." This classic display of wit took place on twitter. Google it. THAT is what they were fighting about. Subtle, sinister twisting of the facts to present Trump in an unfavorable light.

Oliver claims he isn't really self-funding because he took out a loan for his campaign. Who's responsible for the loan? Donald Trump.

The rest is standard issue soundbite manipulation by the slime at the daily show. Any politician can be shown contradicting themselves. Anyone the daily show feels a need to demonize in one of their LIV spoon-feeding segments is A-OK in my book.

I know it's easier, more comfortable, to buy into the mainstream narrative, but you're better than this.

472 Open letter to all Trump hating Republicans
So take your toys and go home, I hear all the rather let it burn than vote Trump camp rhetoric. My answer is that you are wrong. You may not like it, but we/this country can live and survive a 4 year Trump presidency, just like we survived 8 years of Obama. I cannot say the same for Hillary, the next president will have at least two supreme court appointees, possible more. I cannot begin to list how bad a Hillary presidency will be. It will make Obama look like a choir boy. Rapist in white house, selling military secrets to China, a congress rolling over to show lip service opposition, a large up tic of "suicides", an enemy's list that would make Nixon blush. All the bad policy's that Obama would have accomplished if he had not been so incompetent and lazy. Continuation of Obamas foreign policy. So the next time we/I hear a Trump presidency wouldn't be any different. My answer is "BS". The republican congress will suddenly grow a pair and fight him Tooth and nail of he steps out of line, the Dems want support him because they will be eyeing the White house in 4 years with a far better candidate than the Hildabeast.
, Trump will be the R candidate because that is who you (the Republicans) nominated, notice I SAID YOU, as a registered democrat in Kentucky I cannot vote in the R primary. Yes I'm a democrat in name only like 50% of all Ky D's . So Trump signs the pledge not to run third party, but you and other R elite feel that because of your "morals" you cannot honor that pledge! Sander supporters play SJW speech-police games and beg for donations and phonebanking volunteers. Trump supporters post stupid memes like the below and "I've donated $0.00 to Trump's campaign, match my contribution and I'll triple it."

That is a fact. Trumps family name was changed, but you're missing the point. He's not playing the immigrant angle. He's attacking the premise that Trump is this wonderful winner. He goes point by point with facts to back up his assertions. Now given that the argument is about perception one can't say one or the other is lying.

But you can't deny that this is classic Alinsky tactics, isolate, freeze, and ridicule the target. Hell, Trump's been playing this game against lowly Republicans. Like I said before Repubs are pikers at this stuff. The Dems INVENTED this stuff. If a guy like Marco Rubio can get under Trump's skin then you haven't seen nothing yet.

575 National Review, a once-venerable conservative publication, has officially gone off the rails entirely, publishing an article calling Sen. Jeff Sessions a "prostitute" for endorsing billionaire Donald Trump for the GOP presidential nomination.

That abominable attack on perhaps the most revered conservative in the U.S. Senate ran in a National Review piece arguing that anyone who endorses Trump is a "rat" that is "scurrying" and is also a "sellout."

"The Rats Are Scurrying: Republican Officeholders Who Endorse Trump Are Sellouts," reads the headline of the article.

This is how COD won the 2010 Delaware Senate primary.

Our betters attacked her, and she came off as sympathetic.

They lied about her, and the Smartest Man in Delaware felt that he was owed it.

he even ran his mouth about favoring cap and trade BS.

And the people here tried to warn everyone else, especially since Delaware went last and we had seen what had happened elsewhere (Utah, Ind?). But we were ignored and insulted.

And a witch beat the Smartest man in Delaware by 7%. And then was trashed in the general. After the Party stabbed her in the back, and Castle walked away with $4 million in campaign money. And refused to endorse her. Oh, and the weaponized IRS went after her DURING the campaign.

We think tat the shit started in 2012. It started in 2010, and the Stupid Party seems to have been complicit.

About that same time the letters i m g became problematic, since that was part of the combination needed. And ampersands.

So I'll have to accept some irresponsibility.

578 That is a fact. Trumps family name was changed, but you're missing the point. He's not playing the immigrant angle. He's attacking the premise that Trump is this wonderful winner. He goes point by point with facts to back up his assertions. Now given that the argument is about perception one can't say one or the other is lying.

Posted by: Arson Wells at March 01, 2016 10:56 AM (UnJ7w)

The book that Oliver held up on his show as the source for his assertion that Trump changed his name in fact disproves that point. Documents from Ellis Island show the name as Trump and the family is featured in documentation from Germany as "Trump" as far back as 1608.

It's horseshit.

As I have become more portly, I have found that carrying in the strong side front pants pocket seems to be easier. I have tried a number of pocket holsters but what seems to work the best is a drink koozey turned inside out so that the cloth is next to the gun and the sticky rubber is in contact with the cloth of the pocket. Any PPK/S sized gun seems to work pretty well this way and reaching into your pocket is generally less suspicious than reaching around to behind your right hip.

I have found that other gentlemen of excessive girth seem to use this method as well after trying various alternatives.

All the polls I've seen show Trump getting slaughtered with Millenials, but truthfully that's nearly every Republican. But Trump does even worse with that demo.

If Trump wins the Presidency, it will have to be from a large section of the population that is not currently politically engaged.

If I were running Trump's campaign, I would say don't spend a penny on Tv advertising, spend it all on signing up new Trump voters.

What ever you are comfortable with is the right choice. The important thing is to practice to develop the muscle memory. Every day for a month, unload your gun, put it in the purse the way you will carry it and stand a few feet in front of a mirror. Pick out some spot on your chest, like a button. Pull the gun out of your purse and point it at that button so that the sights are lined up on the button. Do this a dozen times. As I said, keep doing it every day for a month. Don't try to do it fast. Just try to do it smoothly and over a month you will keep getting smoother and faster.

A lot of people practice shooting, and that is important, but they never practice getting the gun out for when they need it.
