Melissa Harris-Perry Out at MSNBC?

When MSNBC pre-empted Melissa Harris-Perry's show for election coverage (which got higher ratings, and also is more compelling than Melissa Harris-Perry's show), she sent out an email which objected to her show being "taken" in the most overwrought terms conceivable and kinda-sorta implied that MSNBC was trying to "own" her, like a slave.

She also implied that MSNBC was trying to change the "racial composition" of its on-air talent.

MSNBC now says this email destroyed their working relationship and that they're out of the Tampon Earring business.

Comcast has a *lot* of money on the table when it comes to things like FCC regulatory affairs and corporate tax schedules.

Also, unbundled "a la carte" cable pricing proposals scare the willies out of them. The corrupt Republican establishment teamed up with Democrats to fight those off before, but may not be able to do so if the proposal comes up again.

Trump was asked on-air by Chuck Todd (or some idiot) to disavow David Duke's endorsement.

Trump already disavowed David Duke's endorsement. Go to his facebook page, there's video from his press conference with Christie, from last Friday.

But rather than play the game and give credibility to their "conform to our speech codes or you're racist" schtick, he was like "no. I don't even know who he is. I'll have to do more research."

Which made Scott Adams go haywire, by the way. But I think he's just bored, by now. Some cartoonists aren't cut out for politics. Aside: whatever happened to Cox & Forkum?

Anyway, Trump did the right thing, he just sounded like a simpleton with a speech impediment while he did it. Welcome to 2016.

238 MSNBC is an activist front. They have the thin veneer of being a respectable news outlet via the "NBC" association (I know, but it must still fool LIVs). However, they are 110% all in as a source for broadcasting whatever the progressive talking points are for that particular day. Period. Each show pounds the same talking points, and since Obama took office, it's *his* message they are broadcasting.

Two best examples:
--- Mika reading the WH response to someone they were in the process of interviewing, ***vebatim***, from her smart phone on air. She essentially facilitated the WH doing a hostile interview.

--- Dr. Nancy Snyderman had a daily, 1-hour healthcare-themed show from the time Obama started pushing Obamacare through it becoming law. Then the show went away. They gave Obama 5 hours a week to broadcast the Obamacare talking points.

I would guess that MHP is simply no longer a useful progressive mouthpiece. Has she been critical of Hillary and Bernie?
Maybe her show will be given to a loud-mouth feminist to help Hillary get elected.

244 Trump can challenge in NYS and even win. I've been saying this for months. Upstate is part of Appalachia, and will vote accordingly. The polls in this story show Trump winning NYC suburbs. Key is low turnout in NYC, which is how DiBlasio got to be mayor because less than 20% of eligible voters bothered to show up.

If you dig into Hillary's "impressive" beating of an old Jew from a snow state in the southern plantation of South Carolina, Democratic white turnout was down 40%, black turnout was down 20%, from 2008. Meanwhile Republican turnout was up a lot. This pattern can hold in the general. Hillary has high negatives which can be driven up, so her turnout will be down. Her core base is actually relatively small.

So Trump can win Ohio and Michigan and Nevada and New Hampshire, etc. He already has a lock on Florida. Force Hillary to fight in NY where she's very beatable and it's game over.

The NY Post story is by Fred Dicker who's the best journalist around on NYS political matters, so it's legitimate.

But go ahead and beat on Trump, thinking that Cruz might have a shot in the general, and that Rubio is something more than a glib first term Senator who's sunk to the level of doing dick jokes.

287 George Morrow was not in Polysci, but he did change a few majors.

It started when George Morrow was a young fry-cook. He had a spoonful of
mayonnaise in one hand and a piece of bread in the other. "Hey, I can't
do this all my life. Besides the fact that I can't tell good food from
bad, this job is boring. I'm going to be an engineer," he thought to
himself.

So young George pursued the life of an intellectual. For awhile he took
engineering, but he figured that to fully understand engineering he needed
to know physics. He changed his major to physics. Soon he figured that
to fully understand physics he needed to know mathematics. He changed his
major to math. Just as he was about to get his PhD in math, he figured
that to fully understand mathematics he needed to know philosophy. So he
quit and went to work in the semiconductor business. "Otherwise, I would
have never gotten out of school," he recalls.
