1 Good Morning Morons. Today is Monday, February 29, 2016. Today is a leap day. Leap days occur in years that are divisible by 4. It is added to Feb because under the old Roman calendar February was the last month of the year and they added days to the calendar during that month.

53 Willowed from last thread:

One of the great scandals over the last two or three decades is how so many barriers have been raised to keep people from starting their own service businesses.

Part of the reason is the flood of illegal and illegal immigrants. People can't openly say that because it results in getting called racist. Licensing is a way around it. California isn't doing this for any benevolent reason. It's to help the swarm of illegals in their state.

And in breaking polls:

Donald Trump increased his lead atop the GOP presidential field in a new national poll, attracting 49 percent support among registered Republican voters.

Trump holds a 33-point lead over his closest competitor, Marco Rubio, in a CNN/ORC International poll released Monday morning, one day before ballots are cast on Super Tuesday. Rubio has 16 percent support in the new poll, followed by Ted Cruz with 15 percent, Ben Carson with 10 percent and John Kasich with 6 percent.

Wow, does that bring up memories! My father had a Velo-Dog in his collection. It was one of the few firearms we never took to the range, mainly because no ammo. Standard .22 rounds were too hot for it.

100 So Granny Clinton doesn't want the press filming her getting on, and off her private plane? Makes sense, it would hurt her vibrant, and energetic public persona to be seen as she really is, frail, and weak...and climbing up and down stairs will show that off.

It's no surprise, of course, that the press is happy to go along with her restrictions on their reporting.

103 I need some work advice from the horde...

I have been swamped for most of the year so far, and been working my tail off, long hours, and what not. That's not all that unusual for this time of year, but it's part of the narrative.

So, a couple of weeks ago, off the clock and on my own time, I went and ran a couple of errands for work. It didn't take a ton of time, maybe an hour from the time I left my house to the time I got home. I had time to do it. One errand required that I stop into the office, which I was there for maybe 10-15 minutes at the most. I made no secret about it either, I left a couple of notes and did my work, and then went home. I also felt if I could get some of those errands done in off-time, I would be able to come in to work and not have to get distracted by running around town the following week.

Well, last week, all of the sudden, I am getting the cold shoulder and silent treatment. I walk into 3 conversations in which people stop talking and scatter. One coworker wanted to know if I had come in to work during off hours, and I honestly answered no. It was a quick trip, and I was off the clock. But, it still didn't resolve the chilliness.

Well, my boss confronted me about it, wanting to see my time sheet. At this point, I am very angry. I am upset that people should know me better. I am upset that I thought I was doing a GOOD thing by trying to stay ahead of my work, and instead of being praised, I am all of the sudden vilified.

Honestly, I am angry. If I act angry, I am sure it will seem like I have something to hide or something. But...if I act like nothing is wrong, I feel like it makes it seem like I am not putting up a fight and admitting to doing something wrong, which I did not do.

How would you act?

SPY also colluded with the Clinton campaign by digging up the old, long-discredited rumors of Poppy being a cheater, timing their "bombshell" to help Clinton do maximum bimbo eruption control.

Mummified body of German adventurer who set sail 20 years ago and vanished is found inside drifting yacht off the Philippines

Manfred Fritz Bajorat was discovered by fishermen aboard his yacht which was drifting in the Pacific Ocean. His body was sitting near to the radio telephone as if he was trying one last desperate Mayday call to save himself when he died. The 40-foot long yacht, named SAYO, had been cruising around the world for the past 20 years. Dry ocean winds, hot temperatures and the salty air helped preserve his body.

Are you hourly or exempt? If you are hourly, it's illegal for you to work and not be paid for it. Most companies have very harsh policies to prevent a supervisor from getting unpaid work out of an hourly employee--because of the illegality. If you are exempt, it shouldn't matter. Most employers will cheerfully work an exempt employee to death.

The problem is that pesky Overton Window. With the possible exception of Ronald Reagan, every Republican president and congress has accepted and even embraced the 100 year march toward socialism and the rejection of the republic as founded. All they do is fiddle about the edges, enacting idiotic laws that allegedly mitigate the situation but do nothing to stop or reverse it.

Out of all of the candidates, the only one that in my bones I feel understands this and is willing to risk it all to do something about it is Ted Cruz. At this stage, I don't think he's going to get the nod, sadly (although who knows?).

The big question is, aside from how great he's going to make everything, will a President Trump abolish the tax code and the IRS? EPA? Dodd/Fagg? OBAMACARE?

I strongly doubt it, but what the hell. We are on a trajectory of national death so what do we have to lose?

I hope you are cancer free now.

If it's cancer, there is no lump, right now, it's just a tiny lens shaped anomaly, so hopefully, I would be spared a lumpectomy. As to chemo/radiation, I have seen first hand up close and personal what it does way too many times.

Thanks for your prayers and good thoughts everyone.

I don't mean acting in a dictatorial manner, as appealing as it is for my sense of revenge and being out for (rhetorical) blood. Reagan had the majority to abolish the Dept. of Ed and his own party stabbed him in the back.

The nub of my comment is that Cruz has the "will" to try and do it, and by the rules. I don't think any other candidate has or does.

172 Lot's of "Trump's a racist" talk today...

Most conservatives don't understand how liberals think. Liberals believe they aren't racists, so if someone isn't a liberal they must hate blacks.

Otherwise, they would be liberals too.

It's fucking logic, people.

There is no way to explain to a liberal that conservatives aren't racist and that they just have a different approach to solving the same problems everyone agrees on.

However, you can put liberals into a meltdown loop by telling them that because they support the public school system and Social Security, they are racists condemning young and old blacks to generations of poverty.

When they're busy trying to defend their own party, they have less time to invent bullshit against republicans.

From the Observer an article written by Ken Silverstein, 2/25/16

Marco Rubio's Ties to Sketchy Businesses, Drug Dealing and Ponzi Schemes.

It's a long article detailing Rubio's ties. Silverstein ends it this way:
So how is it that Mr. Rubio has suddenly emerged as a hot commodity in the GOP nomination race? Well, as noted above, his chief rivals are Mr. Trump, an unhinged clown, and Mr. Cruz, a far-right cretin with appalling social views and whose main claim to fame in the foreign policy arena is that he wants to "carpet bomb" the Islamic State.
But if the FBI is in fact serious about looking into Marco Rubio, his competitors may start looking a lot more attractive, at least from an electoral standpoint.

Personally I am split - Cruz has the positions I like in a candidate, Kasich has the experience I like in a candidate, Trump has the attitude I like in a candidate. In Virginia, based on polling, options seem to be Trump (either pro-Trump or pro-coalescing or accepting inevitable), Rubio (either pro-Rubio or strong anti-Trump), Cruz (prefer Cruz but not strongly anti-Trump enough to go Rubio), Kasich (pro-Kasich or enjoying the chaos), Carson ( pressed the wrong button). Hilldebeast is up 20 so throwing a vote to Sanders is as effective as voting Kasich or Carson.

222 Most employers will cheerfully work an exempt employee to death.

Ain't that the truth.

My second employer after college was a large government aerospace contractor. Naturally, they had a union and I had to work closely with folks in the union. Many of them never hesitated to remind me that:

1) I was an exempt employee, which in their minds meant that I somehow got a free pass on everything. Never mind that most, but certainly not all of the union workers did very little work. Quite a few of the senior union employees managed to get by without working at all.

2) All the wonderful things I enjoyed, like working 90 hours a week, were because of the union negotiating great things for all of the workers.
