Yeah no hypocrisy there.

14 "Questionable" donations are probably the last thing anyone should use to go after Crazy Uncle Bernie. If the FEC chose to look into Shrillery's campaign finances, they'd certainly find plenty to bitch about. Also Choom Boy.

Rafael has been tagged by the FEC as well. And I'm sure Dondi will be if he continues to exist after tomorrow.

Election laws in the Age of Choom Boy are meant to be violated.

I will just sit over here and listen to the crickets while I wait.

BTW, that chick is seriously delusional if she thinks Hillary would let her maul her like than in anything but a campaign photo op.

46 I believe illegal immigration (and over-immigration) to be the defining issue of our day. From it, so many other issues stem. Trump is not my #1 guy. That's always been Cruz. But Sessions' endorsement of Trump doesn't surprise me, and might actually allay some of my fears of a Trump presidency. He has made immigration the cornerstone of his campaign. He's made very bold (necessary) statements on what needs to be done with respect to this issue. He simply wouldn't be where he is now in standing without this stance. Jeff Sessions cements this even further. If Trump wins the nom, and goes on to win the general, his obligation to act on his promises will be undeniably strong.

They're neo-Pharisees who want to be seen as good people. They don't actually put serious effort into their causes and bullshit positions. Most of them settle for virtue signaling, maintaining an outward appearance so they can condemn others and expiate the misplaced, overdeveloped sense of guilt that every modern liberal is plagued with.

What I can't understand is how the DNC and the RNC reconcile the large crowds Bernie and Trump generate and how either Bernie or Trump would lose in a general. Hillary won't appeal to Bernie voters and Rubeo won't appeal to Cruz or Trump voters. I actual had a relative say this weekend that she is voting for Rubeo because he will beat Hillary. Since I love her I felt bad pointing out to her that , unlike Cruz and Trump, Robeo had not yet won a primary. People see what they want to see, and the establishments of both parties know that. Therefore they say ignore the enthusiastic crowds, Jeb! )and now Rubeeo) and Hillary! are who the voters (idiots) want/need/ will get.

I believe Ace has said that when you have to so emphatically declare you love something, especially with the word "F*cking" it infantilizes it. These people don't even care about science, they care about being right and being in control. If anything starvation among polar bears is due to the fact that the population has boomed because of protected status, not because "There's no ice up there".

86 Although it is an interesting thought

If it becomes Trump vs. Hilary, then the campaigns against each other will be simply vicious. Hilary will be widely known as the scum she is because no MSM can block what Trump talks about. Meanwhile, Trump is - of course - flawed, and the GOPe itself will do its best to make voters aware of that.

So it becomes a body of voters who decide they want that particular form of bad, with many just going third party or staying home.

There's no altering Hilary. She's a crook and inept, and vicious to boot. Her voters may very well want that particular part of her.

Trump could have been embraced and reformed, to a degree, but the stupid party couldn't cross that particular aisle. So we wind up with voters who want his particular brand of creative destruction.

Because ignorant hayseed that I am, it appears that Rubio has hit a ceiling of support and hasn't won a single state. That doesn't seem electable to me.

But he is neck and neck in his home state. If he's lucky he might even outright win it. That speaks to true electability right there.

120 Derbyshire also covers health care (and pokes Trump for being unclear): "The point of insurance is to cover bad things that might possibly happen. A pre-existing condition has already happened. No rational insurance company will issue a policy to the person afflicted."

Right ... so if R's want that covered, they pay for it by higher rates on people that have insurance. That is why I like the mandate, if I have to basically fund that element of "socialized medicine". And that is all the pre-existing thing is. Anyone that is sick just signs up on my plan and makes me pay. So the mandates are needed.

128 Being in TX and on Team Burn it Down, I'm faced with quite a conundrum tomorrow.

Do I vote for Cruz -hoping to put him over 50% and letting him take all the TX delegates and thereby extend his presidential bid, or do I vote for Trump because I'm not sure he'll do well enough elsewhere to keep his "solid pluarality" status?

If Cruz does not get over the 50% hump in TX, there's a decent chance that his campaign goes the way of the Dodo. Considering how p*ssed people are at the Establishment - primarily over Amnesty - I think that would basically solidify a Trump out-right win (which is to say, no brokered convention, which I want).

If Cruz does get over the 50% hump in TX, there's a chance that Trump's numbers fall low enough that he would no longer be "the clear front-runner." Then when we do go to a brokered convention (it would be much more likely, then) the Elites are less likely to damage themselves fatally with their Elitism. They'll be able to trot out the "unelectable" argument and say "He couldn't even get 50% of Republicans!"

Decisions, decisions.

I believe Trump's sensibilities are close to mine. As a businessman, he's trained to look for value, which is what I want.

Cruz and Rubio have an ideological blockage when it comes to certain subjects - like defense. The army is about to purchase 50,000 vehicles to replace the aging HumVees. Because of IED's in Iraq, an armored $375,000 per copy vehicle has been chosen.

If I were president, I would buy 5,000 of these expensive suckers, deploy them where needed and keep the others ready to ship to any hot zone.

For the other 45,000 basic transportation vehicles, carrying 4 or 6 troops from Ft. Knox to Ft. Campbell, or driving around our bases in Germany, Korea, Japan, Italy or where ever, buy standard SUVs at a fraction of the price and operating costs.

172 The high risk pools make sense I guess, but is another form of socialized medicine since it is subsidized. If insurance companies are forced to take them in, they are just being forced to cover that subsidy, and that (iirc) is part of why they had their losses covered with these special payouts from DC.

But it is simple, covering pre-existing is socialized medicine, the question is, who pays? R's back it because it is a vote getter ... but they won't admit it is moving toward socialized medicine.

Morrissey reminds me of Althouse. Nice online persona. Gives impression of being a decent person. Willing to use Government to take other people's property to be used collectively as they think best. Always complaining that the people elected don't do as they desire. Wish all the collectivist would move to Asia where they would be more appreciated. Doesn't matter what you call yourself if what you advocate is socialism. Hard to take you serious if you make a good living from the public purse (Althouse -> Law Professor public university). I've heard that Morrissey was a manager/supervisor at a call center. I would guess a lot of his workers were imported and he would be sympathetic to their plight. Easier to import than fight the welfare/abortion/(poor)education lobby. I pray to God to be protected from such as these two.

Posted by: Joe Hallenbeck at February 29, 2016 09:31 AM (ZLAox)

209 Trump is mostly attractive for fighting the globalists. He wants America First policy, which we all should. Hillary wants to tear down any walls, even as her campaign of love calls border control xenophobic and racist.

On trade and immigration, Trump says only do what is good for America. But our tax policy and easy money has put everyone into the stock market, so their future is tied to the globalist corporations, which rely on exporting jobs to "slave" labor countries. Or importing the H-1Bs to displace our workers here.

ZIRP and QE have kept us on an adrenaline pump for seven years, and all it has accomplished is to grow government, as job growth all went to imported workers. The inevitable crash/correction will come ... the next president will almost certainly face it. Trump would move us toward a business model, Hillary toward a commie model ... as I see it.

228 I said this from the beginning: This election, the choice of why and who I will be voting for has been easier than I ever remember, even when I voted straight ticket. What motivates me this year is simply this:

I will vote (with high discomfort) for Trump because the establishment doesn't like him.

I will vote for Cruz (with only slightly less discomfort) because the establishment doesn't like him.

I will - under no circumstances - vote for Rubio, because the establishment likes him.

What about the country, you ask.

These are the things that we all know are going to happen in this country. THEY WILL HAPPEN and we know it.

Muslims will carry out attack(s) and probably thousands if not hundreds of thousands of people will die.

The demography of this country - that which not only defined it as America but that which made it possible for free market capitalism to flourish, will change to the point where that will no longer be possible.

This country will become recognizably socialist. It may not be called 'socialist', but it will be socialist. It substantially is already because there is no way that successful capitalism can function with over $200 trillion in obligations. It's impossible.

We will lose our gun rights. There is no question of that. We have already lost our 3rd, and 4th amendment rights and substantially through intrerpretation, our 1st. The others are being diluted. Not if. When.

This list could go on and on. We know what's coming and debt and obligations and an already entrenched corportist olibarchy will keep these things from being prevented.

That's my rant, and I'm sticking to it.

243 Mark 'Oz' Geist and John 'TIG' Tiegen have officially endorsed Donald Trump for President

Mark 'Oz' Geist said, 'We, perhaps more than any Americans, know the absolute and imperative reason that we elect Donald J. Trump as President of the United States. First and foremost, under a Trump administration, the request for additional security by an ambassador would have been heeded, and second, there is no question, when the attack came,he would have moved heaven and earth to provide the necessary forces to protect and reinforce our warriors. Mr. Trump is the bold, decisive leader America needs at this time.' Oz added, 'Under President Trump, many conflicts will be avoided because our enemies will fear the United States and our military.'

John Tiegen added, 'It is very clear to see the groundswell of support, never seen before in recent politics. Americans want a strong leader, one who cares more about the safety and freedom of the American people than he does winning elections, or what the press might think. In honor of those we have fought with, I am proud to endorse the next President of the United States, Donald J. Trump.'

He's a climate change activist deep down in his soul. They got to him in high school. We reconnected (it had been a while, too long) and were talking and like an asshole I brought it up. Well, he brought it up, but I didn't let it go. And his reaction?

"Well, first of all, that pause was debunked, the temperature IS rising, and the oceans ARE rising. And second of all, there are other factors which correlate much more with carbon than temperature does, like the pH levels of the ocean. With this rise in acidity we're poised for a mass die-off of ocean life."
me: "when?"
him: well, I don't know, but I don't much feel like finding out."

Can you not hear yourself moving the goalposts man? This is not science.

But how do I tell that to someone who works with statistical models, at the forefront of his field, and got an honorary degree from Oxford in his 20s? (like I said: fucking genius).

I've seen it said a million times but it's clearly not resonating: the establishment is responsible for Trump. If it wasn't him it would be someone else. Maybe he's not the worst choice, considering the paucity of honorable men and women on the contemporary roster of American celebrities.

Frankly, it seems to me the Democrats are playing yesterday's game. People are pissed at Washington, the mendacity, the divisiveness, the lack of action, the inbred nature of the culture and the continuous stream of mendacity.

Trump is pulling demographics and numbers Republicans have not seen in a long time, and he's energizing people well beyond the typical base.

But let's destroy him or something. Better yet, let's have a brokered convention. Sure...

Trump is currently my candidate, but I am also not out to destroy the guy or our chances of winning. Is he going to be "unpredictable on some issues as POTUS? Well, duh, yeah. But he will be far superior The Old Crust Hag who has been running around Washington protecting her lying ass for decades or some midget "yes" man like Rubio, who is another effete Mitt Romney, only shorter.

Remember that "Game Change" book where to DC reporters who covered the presidential race? They saved all the good stories for their book, instead of reporting things from the campaign --- when it would have assisted voters in deciding which candidate to pick. For example, on the trail reporters were writing about Elizabeth Edwards as a saint, all while John was using her cancer to get votes. The book covered what a beyotch she was, and that her hubby was having an affair (and probably wouldn't have even mention that except that the National Enquirer broke the story).

BUT . . . losing the ability to even SPEAK about important, vital issues that affect our lives is a sickness, a form of death.

He's enabled us to speak again - to say words - to be free to argue! Just that . . . that alone is necessary.

We have a tripartite govt and I don't know how bad he'll do at this or how much the Big State will really let him even DO - altho I suspect he might surprise you in a positive way.

But he won't stop talking about the actual important things we need to talk about! That's what's key.

Plus I actually don't want to put a fork in my ear when he's spouting off, even when I totally disagree with him.

Yes, he had been a Democrat and even a union leader. He thought his way to his principles.

He articulated those principles in this speech, in governing California, in thousands of radio addresses, in challenging Gerry Ford, in his successful 1980 insurgency, and in governing.

Along comes somebody named Trump and it's "Katie, bar the door!" Dammit, the voters are revolting! Quick! Somebody saying something conservative so that they'll shut up and pay up for another four years!

==============

Trump has been dealing with Fed-State-Local regulators (and labor unions) his entire professional life.

The only way to deal with a bloated bureaucracy is for the president AND Congress to work together in bringing the DC federal labor unions to heel. It's not complicated, but it will require heavy lfting. Eliminating a few departments would be a good start.

This thing about Trump being a new Caesar is a hoot, too. That's why we have a Congress, to represent we the people when a president gets out of line or when the federal court system is stacked with political ideologues who put their concepts of "justice" in place of the US Constitution. With somebody like Trump or Cruz in the Oval Office, at the very least we'll be back to the Madisonian principle of checks and balances. That's much firmer ground for those who love freedom and liberty.

That doesn't inspire much confidence.

I could list a string of GOP candidates that won a Presidential primary and by a much larger margin than Trump, it doesn't mean he's some super-candidate that will end up beating the Democrats.

500 As soon as Trump wins the nomination he will start moving left, probably not on immigration that much because that is kind of popular on the left to, but on everything else. Once he is president everything will be open and if the wall is actually built, that doesn't mean it has to be manned.

He might just expand guest worker programs so he never has to see another non paying American on any of his properties.

502 1. I'm actually pretty confident Trump would make good on the wall pledge just because he's made such a big deal out of it. Say what you will about him, he's easoly the most believable on having a hardline immigration stance.

2. I'll be damned of I know what else he'll do except have an aggressive foreign policy and potentially start a trade war.

3. In order for checks and balances to work, the executive branch has to believe in it. Trump's given no indication he believes in executive restrain or small government, for that matter. I have a hunch the only way Congress would actually be able to restrain Trump would be to impeach him and I'm not 100% certain that would work if it came down to it.
