21 It's apparently not scrubbed at the moment.

But this latest version of Falcon 9 uses supercooled liquid oxygen to boost performance, and it's loaded into the rocket at the last minute. So any delay means the LOX is warming, and increases the chances for a scrub.

62 Another cool thing to do is there is a website that you can find when the space station is going over. It's like watching a plane light flying horizon to horizon in 3 to 4 minutes but in silence. The best time is just before dawn or a hour after sunset. You put in where your viewing and it tells direction (nsew) degrees above horizon to start and end and time.

90 All of the first stage booster recovery failures have been on the sea stationed platforms. The last one they said that one of the legs had frozen and then collapsed at touchdown. The one successful landing occurred on land. I would think that the platform movement on ocean could have a little bit to do with that.

Had a General Dynamics rocket engineer teach an "enrichment" evening class in 5th or 6th grade. Was great. Actually learned (and since forgot) the basic principles of rocket design, thrust and gravity, propulsion in a vacuum, etc. Of course at a young person's level, but still.

John Insprucker is an Air Force vet, and he used to work Titan launches from this very same pad.

TOTALLY agree. That's the movie I'd show to silent movie first-timers. Metropolis is too stylized, and the pacing too slow for people who aren't used to it. But Spies rocks along at a real fast clip, there are lots of cliffhanger moments and plot twists to hold the attention. And it's more modern in a way, not such a prisoner of the 1920s. That standing up scene was a terrific twist, but nothing had me prepared for the scene in Jason's office when they find out who Agent 719 is! That is pure genius.

I am very careful with the screw-tightening because of this issue. Hence my rage. Ordered another set of new bushings - if a new one threads into the frame easily, I'll do it, otherwise back to the gunsmith.

But I'd call this a pretty bad design flaw in the 1911. Own/familiar with lots of other firearms, only one where this is an issue.

Skip - Navy ship's company had some ma deuces at my range last week, doing their qualifications. Oh, yes. The way they tore up the wood target frames was hilarious.

I worked up a mild cast bullet load for it that is good for 2 to 3 inch groups at 150 yards from a solid bench rest with the iron sights. (If I'm having a good day.) I hope to use the Enfield to experiment more. I save the 150 grain jacketed bullets for the regulation Garand loads. Good point about the glasses but my regular glasses have safety lenses. With my eyes, if I don't have my glasses I can't even see the trigger.

I've picked up old military surplus rifles over the last 30 years, usually in 'as issued' condition. I like to come up with comfortable cast bullet loads for them just to see what I can do. If I ever start hunting again, unlikely, it would be with muzzle loaders. Love the history, the quality of manufacture, and the accuracy potential with these old guns.
