Clinton's idea is to establish the public option beginning at the state level using existing provisions of the ACA -- to "work with interested governors, using current flexibility under the Affordable Care Act, to empower states to establish a public option choice." She's referring implicitly to the ACA's section 1332 "innovation waivers." As Andrew Sprung of xpostfactoid observes, these aim to encourage states to develop alternative mechanisms for health coverage, as long as they hew to Obamacare's coverage and affordability standards. The beauty of the proposal, Sprung notes, is that it doesn't require additional legislation.(Emphasis mine.) More governing by executive fiat. Open thread to hate on Democrats. There are many who when they have drank much Wine, that is the worst thing in the world for them, fall sick, and die of it. Now if you would refrain, and abhor Wine and strong drink... let three or four live eels, put into the Wine, stay there till they die. Let one drink of this Wine, who is given to drunkenness, and he will loath Wine, and always hate it, and will never drink it again: or if he do, he will drink but little, and with much sobriety. Another way: wash a Tortois with Wine a good while, and give one of that wine to drink privately, half a cup full every morning for three days, and you shall see a wonderful vertue.

Mr. Black and I spent yesterday in Columbia, SC walking around the State House and around the grounds, by the SC Supreme Court, etc. It is really a site to see. I walked into the chambers for both the Senate and the House of Representatives. Absolutely incredible.
In any event, we were there of course during the Dems big primary day. Signs were all over the place for Bernie. I saw, maybe, 2 Hillary signs. The local radio station had reported that the precincts that were filled to the brim with voters for the R primary last week. The same precincts yesterday basically had tumbleweeds blowing through them by comparison. Grandma Hills may have had a blow out yesterday, with an enstompening of epic proportions on Bernie's commie head, but it sounds to me like the voter turnout for either one is dreadfully low. And Columbia swings decidedly left politically. Posted by: Lady in Black - Death to the Man Bun at February 28, 2016 08:32 AM (pVkEV) 134

Posted by: Niedermeyer's Dead Horse I happened to have Rush on the car radio at lunch when he talked about Rubio being a Conservative That We Can All Trust. I've listened to Rush for years, and can tell when he is being cleverly sarcastic, I think. That was what his discussion of Rubio was all about. I seem to remember some conservative blogs being agog about Rubio too, at some time. Ace of Spades HQ, I think was. Anybody ever heard of them and what was said? So why hasn't Hillary given any grand speeches in places like Libya yet? Didn't she singlehandedly rescued that country from evil dictators and zealots?
You'd think they'd love her there. Posted by: Fritz at February 28, 2016 09:56 AM (BngQR) 209

A few weeks after Senator Marco Rubio joined a bipartisan push for an immigration overhaul in 2013, he arrived alongside Senator Chuck Schumer at the executive dining room of News Corporation's Manhattan headquarters for dinner.
Their mission was to persuade Rupert Murdoch, the owner of the media empire, and Roger Ailes, the chairman and chief executive of its Fox News division, to keep the network's on-air personalities from savaging the legislation and give it a fighting chance at survival. Mr. Murdoch, an advocate of immigration reform, and Mr. Ailes, his top lieutenant and the most powerful man in conservative television, agreed at the Jan. 17, 2013, meeting to give the senators some breathing room. But the media executives, highly attuned to the intensifying anger in the Republican grass roots, warned that the senators also needed to make their case to Rush Limbaugh, the king of conservative talk radio, who held enormous sway with the party's largely anti-immigrant base. So the senators supporting the legislation turned to Mr. Rubio, the Florida Republican, to reach out to Mr. Limbaugh. Posted by: Gang of Eight at February 28, 2016 11:43 AM (e8kgV) 215

So leftist states will create a public option using their taxpayer monies. Unproductive people will move to those leftist states to get free stuff, reducing the unproductive population of the rest of the states. The free stuff states will then go bankrupt faster.
The only downside that I can see is that the federal government will bail them out using our tax dollars, so maybe it won't work as well as one might hope. Posted by: Heresolong at February 28, 2016 12:32 PM (ntIeo) 219

She is not steady on feets. When tired (tarred), less steady and needs to hold someone's hand or onto something.
Apparently, on this day, she was too tarred to haul herself up ramp even with both hands. In my scientific observations, she always holds onto hands with her right hand. Perhaps her left is just for flapping during speeches. Or holding mic. I am hoping a peasant with a cell phone will, someday, film what the "free press" are not allowed to. Kick me, hard: I voted for sweaty Marco...twice. I gave him money. He finally quit emailing me. I guess all he wanted was my money, no?
The things I keep learning about him all point to elite, it is his turn, yada. He gives great speeches, memorized answers for questions anticipated, florid words, the right words for the right answers. Who does this sort of sound like? Now he is resorting to mocking Trump. It was not his style, but when his pants are down, the feces get thrown. All i know is he went to DC and something, almost immediately, changed him. I was a Rubio supporter when no one had heard of him. We go waaaay back. Politics have a way of ripping your heart and soul out. I am not voting next week, because I stupidly did not register (yet). bite moi. I will not tell you who I would vote for. Possibly that Vermin guy with the boot on his head (joking). We'll see. We'll also see if the damn GOP does what that story says it might. And if it does, well, I may come out of my little fugue state (brought on by antibiotics, one which felt like chemo or some type of low grade LSD), and raise hail. Between that and what the turtle McConnell said, well, this is BS!!! Posted by: ChristyBlinky, aging supermodel Redneck Queen at February 28, 2016 03:37 PM (wAMRL) 225
