3 The big news from last night is the Republican Primary in SC. Despite heated anti-Trump news and attacks he won SC easily with 33%. Fox is showing RINO Rubio in second with 22% and Cruz in third also with 22%. Cruz is just a few votes below Rubio. In the also ran department Jebbi the Hutt dropped out and has ended his campaign. Kasich came in at 8% and Carson came in at 7%. Both of those should drop out too. And also Scankles won the NV caucuses through shenanigans.

Talk about clueless stupid legislators. I have sat in many a CA bar and consumed mass quantities and I also knew a lot of CA bartenders personally outside of the bars. If anybody knows how to tell when a customer has had too much to drink it is an experienced bartender. But CA is dominated by big brother socialists and commies now. I am very glad I left in 1977.

Despite the RNCe the Rube will not be able to walk away with the most electors by coming in below #1. Republicans do not have a mass of super delegates they can use to override the will of the voters. They only have three per State. So if say Trump were to get all 50 SC delegates (he doesn't for other reasons) The Rube would only be able to get 3 at the urging of the RNCe

I don't think so. Although they call it an "open primary" it isn't a true open primary. You can vote in either, but they only allow you to vote in one or the other AND they enforce that at the polling stations. Since the Democrats have a primary in 7 days they will want to vote in their own.

Story time!

Once I was in a bar that I frequented regularly. I hadn't had much to drink at all, but I was just tired. I had one of those episodes where I fell asleep momentarily sitting there on the stool, then woke up much more refreshed. It probably only lasted a second or two.

But the bartender happened to see me nod off and immediately cut me off. I was a regular customer and a moderate drinker who was not known for getting shit-faced.

It was the only time I've been cut off in my life. The bartender absolutely did the right thing, and I knew it at the time. I didn't complain.

In a major development in the Republican presidential race, 2012 GOP nominee Mitt Romney will endorse Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) for president, The Huffington Post has learned from two Republican sources. Details of Romney's endorsement were still being worked out as of Sunday morning.

Romney could potentially be in position to bestow his blessing upon Rubio before Tuesday's Nevada Republican caucuses--a contest that Romney won easily in both 2008 and 2012.

NV is a caucus state and lotta Mormons there, so might help somewhat. But just a couple of days left and Dondi is polling 20 points down.

Have the balls to capitalize something, please. Punctuation and grammar are still a part of these Great United States of America.

I'll not have "Internet Denizens" usurp and befoul our traditions gradually, Sir.

All due respect and admonition to you point, granted.

I am not "Your Better", nor am I superior through my viewpoints to yours, unless specified otherwise.

However, I'd like to make it known that your elders tend to pass-over the less-eloquent, let-alone the unapologetic punctuation of the younger sect.

While I may stand corrected and be a relic of the past, I piss upon the colloquial adaptation of run-on sentences, block-paragraphs and 'non-capitalization' of the first word in a GODDAMN SENTENCE.

While I may be hoist upon my own petard from time-to-time, I will die with this English language that has furthered me, incrementally, through this life.

I stand upon a solid foundation and ask that those amongst us to actually read something, now and again.

Language is our mine, from which we gather thought. Loss of this is something that we cannot deliver to those who would bastardize and subjugate it.

Might mine thoughts be grandiose?

...Perhaps.

Might I have brought upon one commenter more than he may deserve?

Of Course.

I'll ask that you find within yourselves, however, an important part of our heritage.

Words mean something. Let us all define those words and emphasize their meaning through the means of our Forefathers.

Knock-Off the "internet stuff" and become more serious than your opponents.

Also? Stop ripping on Megan Kelly, assholes.

...what as I saying, again?

95 I hate to get into theological disagreements here, but tithing is not a requirement in the NT. Many of the requirements in the old covenant were done away with under the new covenant. Doesn't mean you shouldn't give. Doesn't mean there is anything wrong with tithing if you choose to, but requiring that you have to give 10% and a further implication that's there's a curse if you don't is scriptural coercion.

Trump may or may not stab us in the back, but we know the Establishment is absolutely hellbent on stabbing us in the front if they win. While a completely non-stabby option would be best, a maybe is better than an absolute.

I appreciate your interest, but I don;'t think I'd find it edifying for myself nor would anyone else find it so for me to share my disagreements . That's because I hate it when we get into the Protestant-Catholic slug fest and I do my best to not go down that path here or anywhere else. Jesus wanted us all to be one. When we focus on Jesus, the foundation, the pioneer and perfecter of our faith and open ourselves to the growth of fruit of the Spirit we are more likely to be one, One faith. One Lord. One Baptism. As far as I'm concerned the entire Christian faith when done well is like a jewell with many facets. Lutherans and Roman Catholics have regular communion. Baptists have great emphasis on Scripture and preaching. Methodists have great theology in great hymns. We can appreciate things in all traditions if we choose to

Besides, if i were to get into theological disagreements on a Sunday morning it would set a bad tome for me for the Sunday.

Less on the pro big government, more on the feeling like your back has sprouted a knife collection. Trump's support is driven by decades of betrayal by the people who ostensibly represent us. I was a Trump supporter for the past several months, and that's the primary animus of it. Plus, he was (for a while) the only significant Republican figure talking about certain issues, such as the border.

Cruz is a better option in my book, but I'd still cast a vote for Trump if Cruz's campaign collapses. Anyone else, and I'm probably voting Libertarian or becoming a Texas Secessionist.

Because historically immigrants who became citizens have proved to be as adept of conservative principles as anyone else - they start voting right as they climb up the economic and social ladder. I'm far more worried with current Americans who don't believe in conservative principles. I'll worry about those if/when they become citizens.

Less on the pro big government, more on the
feeling like your back has sprouted a knife collection. Trump's support
is driven by decades of betrayal by the people who ostensibly represent
us. I was a Trump supporter for the past several months, and that's the
primary animus of it. Plus, he was (for a while) the only significant
Republican figure talking about certain issues, such as the border.

Cruz
is a better option in my book, but I'd still cast a vote for Trump if
Cruz's campaign collapses. Anyone else, and I'm probably voting
Libertarian or becoming a Texas Secessionist.

I agree it's all about "feelings" and "emotion" and "ego". Mostly justifications to cover what it is: jealousy and resent about people who are more successful. The back stabbing thing is hilarious when Obama didn't manage to pass a single major bill since 2010. His entire legislative legacy of any relevance is Obamacare - nothing at all post 2010.
I'll definitely vote, donate and campaign for Cruz or Rubio. If Trump is the nominee, I'll happily vote for Clinton. Rather have a socialist running under the Dem banner than under the GOP banner.

Btw, if Trumpsters are correct, we'll see most incumbent GOP congressmen and Senators losing their primaries. If they don't, will you conceded that was all a pile a horseshit?

Cruz is just a few votes below Rubio. In the also ran department Jebbi

Trump has flip-flopped more in the last 2 months that Rubio in his entire career and then some. Rubio had a single faux-pas, he's been reliable conservative in pretty much every issue, clearly understands what conservatism is about and why conservative policies will improve the life of the average American. Trump was claiming he wanted to to go bomb Iraq and "steal their oil" 2 months ago till he turned into a Code Pink conspiracy theorist last week, was saying we need to take in Syrian refugees because "it's the humanitarian thing to do" just a couple of weeks before a muslin ban that he's yet to explain how to enforce, was pro Obamacare mandate just a few days ago, thinks Planet Parenthood does great thinks, is absolutely clueless on economics and has been a lifelong supporter of more immigration - even after he started running he was still saying the good ones should stay.
Not voting for anyone because of a dependability factor when Trump is in the race is simply surreal.
Here's the thing: in the last 5 years, the country became far more conservative with regards to spending. Steepest decline in spending as a GDP percentage since the II War. I think that scares a lot of people who are conservative but love their government handouts and that explains a big part of Trump support.

"Jesus wanted us all to be one."

* * *

But we're not. With good reason.

Ecumenical union is the order of the day and has been for a few decades. But true organic UNITY -- as of
one Body -- is not possible in a situation with flatly contradictory gospels. Nor should anyone with
a shred of understanding and discernment pretend that it is.

To this day, the Council of Trent remains canon law of the Roman Catholic church. It anathematizes (among other things) any who say salvation is on the basis of grace through faith alone without works. Oops! That anathema includes that considerable segment of protestantism that stands true to the fact that Christ's work on the cross was sufficient to save, and so human religious works are not only not required to be and to stay saved, but seek to add to His perfect work.

That anathema exposes the whole "separated brethren" line as a lie, at least as far as many of us are concerned. So if your [editorial 'you'] alleged "brother" is lost and on his way to Hell according to your own church's canon law AND your own church's gospel, then he's not really your brother in the sense of the Body of Christ. He cannot be -- if you're right (or being made right) with God, then he must remain an enemy of God because of what he believes.

Flipside is true with us fundamentalists who stand on the Gospel of the grace of God; unity isn't possible with anyone who does not believe it simply because competing, contradictory salvation gospels *are contradictory.* One or both are wrong and some third party is right, but we can't both be correct. Meaning the adherents to one or the other is headed for the Lake. That precludes brotherhood, wishful thinking notwithstanding.

That's simple logic. Besides which, God does not author confusion. To insist on ecumenical unity "despite differences" is not only illogical and self-refuting, but is an insult to the Gospel of our salvation. It reduces it to meaninglessness not too far removed from the insanity of universalism.

He, (like most Trump supporters), believes Things That Are Not So.

He is not a conservative by any stretch of the imagination, but he is an emotional "Hammer" -of sorts.

Some believe in the "Let It Burn" idea that the electorate has become "Kardashian/American Idol" type. I'm about there.

Others believe in the "Make It Burn" Idea of Bernie Sanders Socialism.

Abali lives in a nether-region, that I define as "Pissed-Off Asshole".

He has no definition of the Tea Party, so he wants to "see what happens" with another megalomaniacal, (sp), self-absorbed idiot in charge.

He's angry. grrrr... He's Not Taking This Any Longer, so.... Trump.

I have no patience for unthinking douchebags any longer. I am a Tea Party individual who sees the next Reagan in Ted Cruz.

Reagan wasn't perfect. Cruz won't be, either.

223 Good Sunday Morning, Hordelings. This is Praise and Worship for Sunday, February 21. A beloved old hymn sung country style.

"Leaning On the Everlasting Arms", sung by Alan Jackson

What have I to dread, what have I to fear,
leaning on the everlasting arms?
I have blessed peace with my Lord so near,
leaning on the everlasting arms.

Leaning, leaning,
safe and secure from all alarms;
leaning, leaning,
leaning on the everlasting arms.

What else do you expect with open primaries?

In closed primaries, voters pick who they think is the best candidate to represent their own party.

In open primaries, voters get to pick who they think is the weakest candidate of the other party.

It's a race to the bottom. It's utterly insane. Open primaries must have been devised by a madman.

307 But what most struck me was a line that has become Hillary's staple on the stump: "No bank can be too big to fail, no executive too powerful to jail!" (She used to say "no individual too powerful to jail," until many pointed out that the individual in question is likely her.)

She said it gleefully, like she couldn't wait to lock the door and throw away the key. The crowd cheered as though they knew what she meant, but I had no idea. The first part, about banks, makes no sense: Hillary supports Dodd-Frank, which institutionalized too big to fail on behalf of the Democratic Party and its Wall Street base. But what about the next line? The "executives" who should be jailed are evidently in the banking industry, but who are they?

Hillary's mantra is unintelligible unless it means that certain banking executives were responsible for the financial crisis of 2008 -- not just responsible, but criminally culpable. The Obama administration didn't think so; they indicted no one.

308 "That city is Sodom on the Potomac and it has the power to corrupt the seemingly incorruptible."

I have four possibly overlapping hypotheses regarding that fact:

1) The go in corrupted but manage to bamboozle us during their campaigns.

2) They quickly get corrupted via the lust for power and the drive to maintain it.

3) They get corrupted via shady money and/or sex, frequently homosexual.

3a) At which point, they willingly go along.

3b) If they don't, there's always blackmail and strategic "leaks" to the media that they will be unable to contest or refute.

4) It's demonic.

In all four possible cases, they become wholly owned and somebody owns them.

Just as a case study, someone explain Paul Ryan. What do you think happened to him, if indeed something "happened" to him at all (i.e., if he wasn't a lying fraud to begin with)?

He had the entire backing of the GOPe, their money, their support-

He had the entire backing, day and night, of FOX and the rest of the MSM-

He spent a buttload of money-

And he hasn't even yet been touched by The Donald in the debates-

And the best, the very best he could do-

is pull into a statistical tie for 2nd place with Cruz.

Cruz, who-

has the entire GOPe establishment gunning for him-

has the entire MSM and FOX running him down day after day-

has gone toe to toe with The Donald

spent 70% less money in SC than Rubio.

Now, tell me who's likable and who's electable.

Hint: It isn't Rubio, even with all his support and backing-

people don't like liars who lie to their faces

people don't like amnesty for illegal aliens as the result of electing a liar who lies

people don't trust Lying Rubio to nominate a true conservative to the Supreme Court

This is going to be a long race-

or a very short one if Trump can get above and hold 40-50% in the upcoming states.

We'll see.

But, Cruz and his supporters need to stay in and fight.

And yes....TL/DR.

I concur. And to everyone panicking or gloating... calm down, Claudine.

We are three states in. Despite what the establishment says, Rubio (3-5-2) is not inevitable. Cruz does need to get the video of the Jorge Ramos interview with Rubio and absolutely plaster the Super Tuesday states with Rubio's own words in Spanish with the English translation super-imposed and DESTROY him on amnesty.

Despite what Trump and his supporters say, he is not inevitable either. He obviously is doing well but his support is stuck and will remain stuck at about 35%. Ads highlighting readily available video of Trump taking all sorts of positions on the same issue (including immigration) likely won't peal the let it burn crowd away from him but would hopefully keep him to just that support.

Either way, we are in the first steps of a long haul and getting wobbly on the right choice is not going to make that haul any shorter.

350 I just made my one comment on the book thread about the NY Times's idiotic obit on Harper Lee and now I'm where I belong.

Good morning, horde. Thank you for swearing and talking politics. It fits my mood perfectly this grey Sunday morning.

I said the same thing last night. Good luck getting Rick Scott's endorsement.

352 I have a dream, because, really, it's the only thing I have to cling to at this point, that Trump turns out to be a completely different president than he is a candidate. In a good way.

God willing.

353 Shit I just flipped a coin trying to decide between Cruz and Rubio and wouldn't you know it it came up Hillary. One thing is for sure, Hillary ought to quit politics and just live in the casinos with her luck.

She should be living in jail and the NY police should seize both her homes and all of her money, including that sham charity, under civil asset forfeiture.

356 So what's for breakfast today? Poison of the Trump plant, Poison of the Rubio Poppy seed, or Poison of the no show root?

357 ...police should seize both her homes and all of her money, including that sham charity, under civil asset forfeiture...

No they should prove that she fraudulently obtained the money or extorted the money and put all the people who helped her in jail. Civil asset forfeiture is a conflict of interest and needs to be abolished.

Don't worry. If she goes to jail all her financial assets will be scooped up by her family and friends. No honor among thieves.

Think it would end like Harry Reid. Her brother would beat the shit out of her some Christmas Holiday.

Shocking that the Establishment's winning winner full of win can't even win his home state (and is not seeking re-election because his constituents won't re-elect him)

360 I must keep reminding myself that S.C. keeps electing Lindsay Graham.
So they are too stupid to count.

Dead thread, but Arm and Hammer Scrub Free with Bleach. You have to take the case apart and clean the inside surfaces as well (obviously with the battery out, and allow to dry thoroughly).

I have done this, got a Dell for $10 that smelled like the inside of a smoker's lung, took a few hours but didn't smell a bit afterward.

But he loses in such a winning way.

363 RCP Has Trump taking 44 of the 50 SC Delegates, also has Trump up by 22 points over Cruz for Nevada's Tuesdays Caucus.

367 Dead thread but there isn't a newer politics thread here so here goes:

I'm seeing lots of people assume that Kasich's voters go to Rubio when Kasich drops out. BUT Kasich is AGAINST
being "world's police" and Rubio wants WWIII. I think some of Kasich's voters go Trump. Kasich made a lot of sense in the last debate wrt Iraq and whether we should've gone in there. He said that he only supports war is America's interests are directly at stake. Um, that is TRUMP'S position. Rubio otoh wants war with Russia (!) over Syria (!).

368 Gotta love the double standards with the media
Track Palin beating up his girlfriend=bad[which it is]
Democrat politician beating up his girlfriend=you're going on a witch hunt against a Democrat man.
