Those stiffer new requirements?

84 Good morning, all.

From this date in 1944- Anzio

Feb 20, 1944 - The EZ Dog Journal
Situation considerably better. Our line held at all points. Germans withdrawing at lower point of salient. Gerry had terrific casualties. About 500 PW's taken in attack, some of whom reported whole Co's wiped out. Both sides very tired. Big artillery duel started about 1900 with heavy counterbattery and barrages laid down by both sides. Gerry seems to have taken a lesson from us.

PW's - Prisoners of War
Co's - Companies

I'm not sure if the Germans realized how thin the British lines were at this point. I'm not sure my dad realized it either.

The Manhattan District Attorney's office says it's investigating cases ranging from homicide to child sexual abuse involving 175 Apple products that have the same encryption as Syed Farook's phone.

"It is very difficult to explain to a victim of a crime whether it's assault, a sexual charge or a financial charge that we cannot get the evidence that may identify the individual who committed the crime because a cell phone company and designer has decided they know better," said Cyrus R. Vance, Jr., the Manhattan DA.

It's not just one phone. It's turning this level of encryption into the teflon coated 'cop killer' bullets.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Teflon-coated_bullet

Anyone remember 'Pretty Good Privacy' (PGP)? I wonder what happened to it?

At one time PGP was unbreakable.

Shortly after its release, PGP encryption found its way outside the United States, and in February 1993 Zimmermann became the formal target of a criminal investigation by the US Government for "munitions export without a license". Cryptosystems using keys larger than 40 bits were then considered munitions within the definition of the US export regulations; PGP has never used keys smaller than 128 bits, so it qualified at that time. Penalties for violation, if found guilty, were substantial. After several years, the investigation of Zimmermann was closed without filing criminal charges against him or anyone else.

113 so it seems they just want apple to take the phone and only give them the info from the phone, not the software to use on other phones. At least that is what a few sources are saying.

So what is Apple really up to, if that is true? idk. But they were talking of how, if they help US, the commie countries would expect/demand the same, and it sounds like Apple is concerned about market share there, more than helping here. They want to help service BigCommie globally.

This seems to happen a lot. Zuckerberg is willing to go Big Censorship to get Merkel support. They dress it up as some sort of idealism, but the base ideal is profit through globalism, which includes sacrificing principle. China seems to get our tech by squeezing Big Corp to give them the tech in exchange for access to their cheap "slave" labor. Other countries have the cheap labor, but not other infrastructure elements, it seems, or other political connections maybe.

I like the headline too - "Arrest photo of young activist Bernie Sanders emerges from Tribune achives". Like the photo became sentient and made its way out of the archive vs. being searched for and released by the Tribune.

Yes, indeed; I did like it very much. Lovely story and beautiful photos. Th Bigby. What a vestment!. How wonderful to have such a talent, and there's a good spiritual lesson for me there-about being thankful to have a purpose for what we do, whether we're embroiderers. pastors, social workers, electricians or looking after family members. Brother Lawrence who worked in the kitchen of a Paris monastery said, "I can pick up a straw for the love of God." Some people get upset about the beautiful detail, artwork or fancy vestment in churches because of the expense; I don't. I think it' a reflection in a small way of the glory and beauty of God.

I visited a church last week during the week that has the RC Mass in Latin and perpetual adoration of the Eucharist. It's beautiful inside with stained glass and parquet floors and lovely paintings. It must be wonderful to attend there.

214 Just watched Trump being asked about different past topics -- such as the Confederate flag controversy -- and, as he has done may times before, he says "It will be interesting to go back and see what I said about that."
This says a whole lot about him. He doesn't know how he felt about something that happened fairly recently? And he's avoids opining on it now so that he doesn't contradict something he said in the past.
If he had a true set of convictions, he'd know exactly what he thought about it at the time, because it would be exactly what he thinks about it now.
He has taken so many positions on so many topics, he can't keep them straight. He has no core values -- at least none that he is willing so share.
There is no way to know what is in his heart, or any way to trust anything he says.
