First shot: pick the gendarme off the horse.
Second shot: Bogey in red on far side of road. Both targets down are now out of the two remaining bogeys' lines of sight.
If first two drops go unnoticed, observe scene and monitor building: unknown number of occupants.

I share your sentiment but because of my concerns re: Cruz's electability in the general, not because he's an unsuitable candidate. You really going to ping Cruz for speaking out both sides of his mouth while supporting Donald "Nancy Pelosi is wonderful" Trump?

Why can't we like both and support both and leave the underhanded tactics to their campaigns? Cruz would make a great candidate and if he can demonstrate staying power across demographics over the next few weeks I think he's a superior candidate to Trump. Donald WILL tack left in the general, he already has, it's a question of what he gives up in pursuit of the office. Anything but immigration reform and 2a support I think I can handle. It's worth it just to see him karate chop throats.

I worry that the crossover Trump will get from blue collar dems isn't replicable by Cruz, who's been tarred as Mr Gov't Shutdown, unfairly, but that's The Narrative.

And we're going to need a nice fat margin of victory to beat out the coming voter fraud:

The long he goes without touching this the more he looks like Clinton's stalking horse.

Imagine if she could wrangle him onto her ticket. And pull it off without alienating the young Berniebots. What a kick in the globes that would be.

Luckily, as CS Lewis said, the innate flaw of true evil is in its malignance it often does the most evil thing and not the most strategic. Think Hitler micromanaging the wermacht.

123 I claim the Willowed Rule, and repost:

"He will no doubt be remembered as one of the most consequential judges and thinkers to serve on the Supreme Court," Obama said
-------------------

Let's look at that statement a moment. Like all of Obama's declarations, it was certainly crafted in advance of it's utterance.

He might have made a simple declarative statement, "He will be remembered...". But he didn't do that.

He might have made a personal assertion, "I believe that he will be remembered...". But he didn't do that.

No, after consulting his coterie of word-crafters, he came up with something that is at once insulting, and simultaneously deniable as anything other than gracious, "He no doubt will be remembered...".

Even in speaking of the dead, Obama is bereft of warmth and propriety. Instead, he makes what is a thinly cloaked insult. He is a small, small, man.

I'm only surprised that he did not say, "I come to bury Scalia, not to praise him."

That he does this the first day he loses a national poll to Cruz, who I consider to be an actual outsider candidate rather than another NE liberal politician, and the same week Trump's liberal dem mask slipped with the WMD stuff, seems rather chickenshit to me.

132 Why can't we like both and support both and leave the underhanded tactics to their campaigns?

It partly depends on whether we have American robots, or foreign robots. The rich are already pushing out middle America and importing "slaves", or exporting the slaves to commie countries that use "slaves". There will be a lot of work left for humans, but how will it be distributed?

How to grow the middle class instead of the welfare class will become a bigger subject, perhaps. Hopefully the middle will lead that discussion, not Al Sharpton or the leftists. But with a few Silicon Valley billionaires calling a lot of the shots, a clear patriotic vision is needed. The Zuckerberg types don't get it, as he helps Merkel destroy Germany.

Good old-fashioned trust busting. If the holding company at the top of the chain isn't American owned, tell them to get bent. Peace. If they are, tell them they have six months to find buyers for their small-medium size businesses, we're not permitting M&A activity for three years.

Americans need to own American companies and every American needs to have the opportunity and the legal and financial ability to enter a given market without having to blow their state CoC (c wat I did there) and bushwhack through red tape. The current "startup" model is build a proof of concept business or software or data analysis technique and then IMMEDIATELY SELL IT to some big fish (who set up the startup incubator with IBM and Apple and Alphabet in the first place) and this has made even the very best and brightest young entrepreneurs a commoditized asset class instead of market participants.

This isn't a silver bullet and obviously there would need to be a lot more to it than what I've said to ensure the US government doesn't just start seizing companies from US citizens, but this has to happen in some form if we're to turn back from the road to serfdom.

252 Sanders has downplayed his relationship with his wealthy uncle, the late Colonel Sanders. But the portion of Colonel Sanders' estate that was left to his nephew was worth more than $10 million at the time of Sanders' death in 1980. An economist interviewed by CNBC estimated that the $10 million Sanders inherited in 1980 would have grown to approximately $5 million in 2016. Senator Sanders lives very modestly. Even with the most conservative investment assumptions, his net worth would be in the range of $45-$75 million today.'

Depends how they got it. But I do fear that we'll find that, like the 'accelerant arson investigation' thing recently, that DNA, or at least the way they're using itty bitty amounts, isn't nearly as reliable as they thought.

Why block releasing these emails? This story might turn out to be important.

That's legal then, you have no legal right over your discarded trash or food left behind at a restaurant. And usually, DNA isn't the only piece that wins a case, its the clincher. Juries love that sciencey crap and defense attorneys hate it because it doesn't lie or change its story.

He even lived over on the east side. Anyone who lives in Manhattan can tell you that getting from First Avenue and 94th St to Columbia basically can't be done. 303 My tl;dr for today, possibly to bring on a new thread?

D'Trump was amusing, even inspiring when he stuck to criticism of the left and focus on issues like immigration and jobs. He sounded pretty good, for a crazy-haired old white guy. I could vote for him.

Now that he has moved to threatening lawsuits on Cruz birtherism and his other crazy and foul talk, the amusement factor has worn off for me. Trump - no, thanks; Cruz - the best we have left.

The Stump for Trump gals follow D'Trump's lead. When he was all about building a wall and bringing back jobs, their shtick was very enjoyable. When he turned nasty, so did they, and I quit watching them.

Joe Dan Gorman has a new Intellectual Froglegs out. Gorman used to have the best show, fast-paced, fun, on-target, and sharply conservative.

But now, he's become an uncritical D'Trump fanboi, and taken up attacks on Cruz and Levin and glazing over anything Trump has done or said that could be criticized.

Gorman's still not as nasty as some other Trumpeters, but pretty much toeing the Trump line all the way. Blind fanaticism is scary to see in people I respected. "But, daddy, I'm in loooovvvve!" Takes quite a shock to unseat such emotional investment.

I still watched the whole latest Froglegs, but it's getting harder. Teeth-gritting through the majority of it, because, fanboi. Sad to see, for someone who was a strong conservative voice.

I think Gorman represents a lot of the disaffected conservatives who think being "pragmatic" in supporting Diablo Trump beats critical thinking.

The Stump for Trump gals represent the rest of the Trump pack, who are all about "ditching and switching" to Republican for the primaries, but when it comes to the election, if Trump isn't there, they'll all be back in the woodwork or voting for the democrat.

Personally, I'd like to see Cruz, warts and all, be the Republican nominee, going up against Hillary the Gangster, or better, Bernie the outright Communist.

So many folks declare Cruz "unelectable" - I'd like to find out.

I'd like to see Constitutionalism versus Communism on the menu. Then, if True-Blue Cruz does lose to the bloody Reds, America has proven itself to be suicidal, but at least the clear choice will be made.

305 I have a fantasy that after the extent of Hillary's crimes has been revealed, Trump goes on ABC's Sunday morning program and about five minutes into his interview with Stephanopoulos Trump drops the bomb:

You know George, Hillary should be in jail and you should be fired. You're a political hack and always have been. You've had Hillary on this show several times and never asked her the obvious questions, like "So you're saying that you were Secretary of State for four years and never got a single top secret classified e-mail." So George you've been a co-conspirator in this. And we know why. Doing the Clinton's dirty work made your career. Without them you'd be nothing. Nothing! So you've done the country an incredible disservice. And I promise you this, I will never come on this show again so long as you're involved with it. If elected, I promise you that no one in my administration will either.

Janetoo, it's not going well at all. I've been checking periodically just to see what's going on there since I bolted.

The headline threads are mostly dead. Trump poll headlines would have good for 50ish comments, pre-Facebook - there's just one in the CBS poll thread. Regular blog posts are only getting a handful of comments on average.

In order for an article to be promoted to the "hot picks" column on the left, under the old system, they needed to have at least 100 comments. Trump stories in particular were flypaper for the commenters. The current top "hot pick" is a Trump story and has a whopping... 21 comments.

Most of the commenters have fled to hotgas.net (myself included) and set up their own blog, which is why we aren't pouring over Ace's borders and rioting in his blog comments. We've been getting about 15,000 visits a day.

347 I'm sick to death of this commie pope lecturing Americans.

It's not Christian to have a border wall? But it is Christian to dump your poor, indigenous population on a neighboring country so that you don't have to use your own resources to educate or provide for them, right? And it is Christian to spend money teaching your undesirable population how to break various laws in the U.S. and avoid being caught. And it is Christian to guarantee that people from countries to your south can transit through your country illegally, provided they agree to illegally enter the U.S. promptly, so that you don't have to provide for them and can dump them off on the backs of U.S. taxpayers instead. And of course it's completely Christian for millions of people to sneak illegally into the U.S., thumb their noses at our laws, take our jobs, and rip off hundreds of billions of taxpayer-funded services every year, right?

Because the Bible never said anything about not stealing from your neighbors, and not coveting your neighbor's good, and of course Christ never said anything about rendering unto Caesar that which is Caesar's, right? No, the Christian thing, according to this hypocritical pope, to do is whatever you damn well please, stealing as much from Americans as you can, ignoring whatever laws you don't feel like obeying, because Americans are the only people on the planet who don't have a right to safeguard their own country, their own people, or their own resources.

359 " this has made even the very best and brightest young entrepreneurs a commoditized asset class instead of market participants."

yeah, America First, and the big names are getting bigger and fewer. Bringing the H-1B's here has some merit, if we can turn them into true red white and blue Americans, while also employing the Americans first. That means stopping the flow till we accomplish that, which will be a neat trick at this point. The globalists have some dystopian future in mind, and assume they will run it.

China is buying the Chicago Board of Trade exchange, unless we stop them. Obama will probably praise it, but it needs to be stopped. That whole "comparative advantage" thing doesn't work too well globally, if we just enrich the slave holder nations and then they buy our country out from under us.

Even domestically, the oligarchs tend to gain control, hence the whole redistribution of wealth popularity. Some sort of workfare merit system will be much better than racist redistribution, or expanded welfare for all. But easy money has made for a lot of redistribution to the connected gamblers instead of the middle class worker.

362 The Pope and Trump is not a Christian.

It is not the duty of the President of the United States to take care of the World's poor and suffereing. It is the duty of the Pope and his church. The Pope trying to make us feel guilty because his church is failing their job in caring for the poor and suffering is not our problem.

If the Pope really wanted to help the poor and suffering he would start selling off the priceless artifacts the church owns and use the money to feed the poor and suffering.

My real question is who the senators represent in states where the Federal Government owns half of the land. By that measure, does the Federal Government have more representation than actual people? Senate was set up to protect smaller population states, but in states where the feds own the majority of the land, it right now appears that the central government has more representation in the Senate than real people.

I've never seen them show either on an episode. Sex scenes are usually over air TV level and not too often. Gore, there is gore but not too bad usually.

I like the show. It's semi-historical. Most of the characters are real characters and they follow their historical arc. It's just that the time lines aren't real and the fighting women are probably an exaggeration for the most part.

Bollocks. We were told the jobs shipped overseas would be replaced by "good paying tech jobs". But then they turn around and fill those slots with H-1Bs?

Sorry, too many broken promises. No H-1Bs for a generation, maybe two.

438 Not to mention that as every leftist cocksucker in America keeps telling us, there MUST be a hard and fast wall between Church and State. So this Pope's views on how the US conducts it's affairs MUST be ignored.
_____________________

Yes, the left is all about the separation of church and state when it comes to their desires to impose their will on the rest of us, such as making taxpayers fund abortions or making nuns pay for females' birth control. But when it comes to immigration, suddenly it's "what would Jesus do?" Jesus would welcome Syrian immigrants, so we should too!

I say if they want a Jesus-based theocracy, then let's have one. We'll make Christianity the state religion, we'll outlaw all abortions, we'll make homosexuality illegal, etc. -- and we'll thrown open our borders to all comers! Because, after all, that's the Christian way, right?

Posted by: mindful webworker - words words words at February 18, 2016 12:22 PM (SqM8E)

We will find out, and I hope he does well. Donald's already reaching out to the left and while personal experiences are anecdotal (no poll correcting this cycle! No ORCA repeat!) we all know lifelong dems who are warm to the guy and won't stomach an out and out socialist OR Shrillary in November.

I believe that squish GOPe types have it 100% wrong and going further right, while being forthright about it and explaining why (like Ace said a few days ago) is the way forward, but that doesn't automatically make Cruz a great candidate. You can't just run Allen West.

Actually, uh, we should run Allen West.

TRUMP/WEST but not Kanye! Hahahaha imagine if you could trick LIVs into thinking Allen West is actually Kanye.

I don't know about the Granduca one way or another. That part of town is close enough that you can come in and do pretty much anything (I lived in 78745 for a while) but you'll probably want to either cross over MoPAC to get to the heart of Austin or go further west into West Lake/Bee Caves.

There's also The Domain which is north of you on MoPac that has lots of shopping/ restaurants. It's less "austiny" though if that makes sense.

The cab situation in Austin sucks. We've reserved cabs only to have them not show up. I think Uber is still allowed though. You'll probably be happiest with a car.

That's from the AP report.
At one point, and I'm not sure its still the case, artificial contraceptives were permitted for married couples to aid them in family planning. It was not the preferred method, nor permissible for unmarried couples. Something about the devaluing of human life, moral decay etc. etc.

Pretty much, yeah. I worry that the crossover Trump will get from blue collar dems
isn't replicable by Cruz, who's been tarred as Mr Gov't Shutdown,
unfairly, but that's The Narrative.

And we're going to need a nice fat margin of victory to beat out the coming voter fraud:

First, it isn't the blue collar dems that Trump seems to be going for right now... its the moveon crowd.
Second, being "Mr. Gov't Shutdown" did not seem to hurt him or the GOP in 2014... In fact we regained the Senate.
Third, Cruz has proven his electability by running for office and being elected.

For starters, the way it was set-up is unconstitutional. It's unaccountable by design and gets its funding from a special charge that the Fed pays -- CFPB doesn't need money from Congress.

The CFPB creates a huge amount of regulation that falls disproportionately on smaller community banks, which are being driven out of business. The CFPB has been and will continue to use data to charge banks with discrimination if their lending and rates don't fit quotas.
