Gee. You gotta feel sorry for Bernie Sanders. He worked really hard for those delegates, he earned them! And they're just going to take them away from him and give to somebody else because that person has a more favorable position on the victimhood hierarchy.

I watched the feeds for Best Metal Performance as I am a big Ghost fan, and couldn't believe just how lame the audience was for the non-pop awards. If there were 100 people in the audience, I'd be surprised.
You could really tell that Papa thought it was bullshit to be giving an acceptance speech to an empty room. Overall, I just find it funny that the only people who reliably actually pay for their music are the metal fans, and the Grammy's treat them like absolute garbage every. single. year. THE PERFECT REFUGEE STORM It is leveling Europe and it won't stop there. ... But those events aren't the root cause of the perfect refugee storm. The causes are the weakness of southern European governments, the dedication to multicultural theology in Europe, the refusal of Muslims to assimilate, and the structure of the EU which makes impossible any unified approach to the crisis. ... Europe's dedication to multiculturalism is perhaps the biggest reason that the refugee crisis threatens the entire continent. Italy, France, Germany, and the rest of the EU (and America under Obama) are too weak to admit that multiculturalism has failed, so they do not defend themselves against the refugee onslaught. Multiculturalism boils down to a false humanitarianism coupled with the intense belief that no culture is better than another and that all people have the same values, ambitions, and goals. ... There is another perfect storm brewing across the Atlantic. The multiculturalists in America -- like Obama, Clinton, and Sanders -- will do the same to the United States that the EU is doing to its members. http://spectator.org/articles/65478/perfect-refugee-storm Posted by: artisanal 'ette at February 16, 2016 09:23 AM (qCMvj) 58

How about a full list of EVERY politician he's donated to and when, and what office they actually occupied at the time of the donation. Also, young people aren't socialist. They don't understand socialism any more than they understand the proper interplay of the sexes, or of employers and employees, or of the government and the governed, and they never will as long as they're insulated from risk and reward the way young people in this country have been since before I was born.
The Berniebots have had their real and laudable idealism hijacked by shadow-state global socialists. Young people want to do the right thing and they must be shown what that means, because they're being lied to and death camps are at the end of that road. We self segregate from pop culture as much as we're exiled. We thrash and shout instead of pointing and reasoning. It's a failure of leadership, but absent leaders it is individual citizens who have to take the reins. Run for local office. Posted by: Ghost of kari - WAR at February 16, 2016 09:32 AM (xuouz) 88

You need to drive it home that what Sanders is proposing is not new, novel, or untested. It's been tried around the world in dozens of places over the past hundred years and failed miserably and spectacularly every time. When you get down to it, rhetoric is meaningless and results are everything, and with a track record like Socialism, we're better off doing nothing at all. Commune of Paris, also called Paris Commune, French Commune de Paris, (1781) and the 'Jacobins'.
The word Jacobin now has multiple meanings. Thomas Paine, noted revolutionary, was a Girondists and when the Commune failed to deliver Utopia, Paine was sent to the dungeons. Saved by James Monroe. It is not clear to me that 'Commune' as used in that time means the same as Commune as used by the Communists in 1917 and later. There appear to be some similarities between the French Revolution at that time and the later 1917 events. One should also make note of the purges of disloyal party members during the troubles of 1930's in Germany. One must take care in choosing sides. Choosing poorly has deleterious effects on one's health. Posted by: Georgio Farfield at February 16, 2016 09:39 AM (aSKQD) 113

"Guns used in most domestic deaths."
What an asinine headline. "Hammers used in most domestic construction." "Brushes used in most domestic painting." "Credit cards used in most domestic purchases." That tells you less than nothing. Were those "deaths" murders? Were they self defense? Were they suicides? Were they accidents? If they were murders, were they murders of good people by bad people, of bad people by good people (okay- that one's not likely, because then it probably wouldn't be "murder"), or of bad people by bad people? How many of those "deaths" occurred only because of a gun (that is: had a gun not been present, there is no possibility the victim would have died)? MFM Delenda Est. Carrying on my comments about Leon Wolf saying Rubiot will win if he comes in 2nd in SC from 354:
#1, if you are to have a path to the nomination, you MUST have a realistic plan for winning on Super Tuesday. #2, if your plan relies on beating Trump, HOW are you going to attract his voters to you? Both on Super Tuesday, the rest of the primary AND in the general? Rubiot has nothing for #1 and the exact opposite of what you need for #2. Trump has polling that will--barring any massive blow-up--carry him to a majority of Super Tuesday delegates. Cruz has an organization that may surprise. Rubiot has the Underpants Gnome plan; "somehow, something, mumble, mumble, spend lots of money--and then I win Super Tuesday!" Posted by: RoyalOil at February 16, 2016 09:44 AM (fQ/0p) 124

Have a neighbor, wife of a guy with a great top-level at Treasury. She has 4 kids and used to home school. She is a Bernie devotee. When she talks about the beauties of socialism, her mindset is people helping people...blah, blah. She has no problem with the notion of taking from "the Rich," as she really believes "the Poor" are getting help.
Here's where I take issue with the vaunted status of Stay-at-Home moms. They stay at home. Spouse works, they take care of the homefront. This is wonderful; however, it divorces these moms from the reality of a workplace. Their spouse has to deal in a competitive environment everyday. They are insulated at home. So, for them it's easy to look upon socialism in a positive, yet, abstract way. They are, basically, takers vis-a-vis generating income. And they vote. For those of you in Oregon,
(and out of state since Bloomberg's group and the democrats have no compunction to flying in people from out of state to influence the legislation,) the Oregon Legislature is voting on a change to state law to prohibit transfers of firearms if the State Police can't get around to processing the paperwork. They probably need your input. As the law now states, if there is not action or response by the State Police Background Check unit the sale is automatically approved. The change will turn that into one where you cannot transfer until they work it, no matter what the reason. The changes are from "If the department fails to provide a unique approval number to a gun dealer or to notify the gun dealer that the purchaser is disqualified under paragraph (a) of this subsection before the close of the gun dealer's next business day following the request by the dealer for a criminal history record check, the dealer may deliver the handgun to the purchaser." to: "The dealer may not transfer the handgun unless the dealer receives a unique approval number from the department." You can also be denied the sale if: [ . . . ]the department is unable to determine if the transferee is qualified or disqualified from completing the transfer, Here is a link to the Oregon Firearms Association (OFA) release on this http://preview.tinyurl.com/zwqctvy Posted by: Kindltot at February 16, 2016 10:07 AM (q2o38) 194

You can't generalize all stay at home moms as clueless about money. It's not easy to go that route nowadays given that you really need two incomes if you want to live that upwardly mobile, keep buying a bigger house in the suburbs, etc. lifestyle. Also helps to have a safety net should one spouse be laid off. Sounds like in her case her husband makes enough that they don't need to make financial sacrifices, risks to live on one income instead of two. If Trump wants to repeat the Left's meme and call GWB an idiot and say he should have been impeached for going into Iraq that theoretically can be defended as a political position. Implying the GWB was responsible for 9/11 is lunacy.

"How do you ignore everything that Trump has said in the past and present which is the antithesis of conservatism or whatever you want to call it now since Trump has caused people that support him to have to abandon that label? "
It's not that Trump's supporters have abandoned conservatism; it's that the GOPe has abandoned it. Until they're gone, NOBODY is offering conservative policies. Even if Trump meets your worst expectations, you can't be betrayed worse than you already have been. I'm disappointed in Ace because it was only 2 weeks ago that he wrote a fiery essay on how the only thing he wants this time around is to hit and hurt the GOPe. They deserve it. Now he's slipping right back into the old attempt to make this stupid situation work, which it never has. It's a well-worn path; there's no rapid transformation, like switching from Trump to Bush. But all the little steps on the gentle slope are clearly laid out: Trump is impossible, so opt for Cruz. Then Cruz is unfairly burdened with accusations of excess Canadianness, and it's too bad, but oh well, what are you going to do? This is the game the Republican establishment has set up, and I'm disgusted that people are willing to play. Once Trump and Cruz are out of the way, does it really matter who gets the nomination? Abandoning Trump is like John Kerry announcing that military action is off the table. Nothing should ever be announced as off the table, and if I know that then I'll bet Trump does too. Just because you are pissed off at the GOP establishment it doesn't make supporting a liberal democrat who has temporarily rebranded himself a conservative a rational choice.

"How do you ignore everything that Trump has said in the past and
present which is the antithesis of conservatism or whatever you want to call it now since Trump has caused people that support him to have to abandon that label?" well, Trump is America First, as opposed to globalist. That is priority one. He has been Republican not commie Dem on issues of most importance to presidency. That for now is trade, immigration, economy, jihadist invasion, war. America First on war means less nation building, especially in the Middle East. Especially now that we have no need to go begging for oil. Gun rights and a new judge, he named a couple that are conservative, why would he change that? He carries himself, and the founders were also into "America First". So trying to force Trump into some losing conservative purity test only yields more losers. Trump is clearly the one that is broadening support, the main competitor Cruz is narrowing it, as I see it. Trump's label is "America First", not "evangelical conservative". That is not a change, and many conservatives want an effective winner, and they will evangelize for Jesus on their own, if that's their thing. If Hillary shouts about how great a President her vagina will make, you don't ignore her record. You don't ignore Rubio's record on Gang of 8. You don't ignore Jeb Bush's record on being an immigration act of love squish. Yet, Trump supporters ignore Trump's record. Why? Because he says I'll build a wall and make America great again. Because the view from here, going on near 30 years of watching, is you can't tell one from the other. 30 years ago, even the most liberal of liberal Democrats wouldn't have dreamed they'd have the power and the laws they have now. They never would have believed they'd see: near universal health care "reform," fag marriage in all 50 states, 90's welfare reform gutted, unlimited immigration, a majority on the SC, virtual control of Congress, trillion dollar spending budgets, etc., etc. And what has this "conservative" party done to stop that? It is not my country any more. So I sit on the sidelines and laugh, maniacally. Trump! hahahahah Cuz is Canadian? What difference does that make? Rubio hahahaha Bush hahahahah Christie needs more doughnuts. Carson? He retired from the Night Show a long time ago. Kasick? Who? Uncle Bernie (avuncular, it is said) is a kindly old gentleman who means you no harm and only wants what is best for little children. Would you like to see his puppies? What principles? The principle of never voting for a liberal? Of never voting for a man who'd promise one thing and do another? Or for a man who'd change his position? Is there one person here who's adhered to those principles? I remember when insisting on doing so would get you labelled a "purist" who's so committed to some airy-fairy pie-in-the-sky utopian dream that they'll let the *most important election of all time* slip through their fingers. Of the candidates left I like Cruz best. In a Republican primary he will make the best TruCon case because he is smarter and more authentic than the others. Yay us! In the general he will be nailed on his SoCon bona fides. The Left will make the election about rape and incest abortion, the sanctity of hetero marriage, and free tampons. They will make him defend the turf which is not important (we don't need a social issues president, and the president will not have much influence on social issues anyway) and in so doing will turn off the moderate middle who are not SoCon. Posted by: Russkilitlover at February 16, 2016 10:02 AM (R6/9k) ------------------ Stay at home moms of this demo, i.e., married ones, consistently vote conservative by a 2 to 1 margin. Add the home-school factor, and it goes to 8 to 1. With all due respect --- (sincerely meant since I "know" you!) --- your statement that homemakers are isolated from reality is just plain ridiculous. What IS true is that women in general are more interested in security than anything else. They are also more susceptible than men to touchy-feely, 'compassionate' blather. (This I believe is hard-wired into us. Nature needs to be acknowledged and, in many instances, fought.) So your neighbor is perhaps representative of women voters in general. But as for the married home-maker cohort, she is a statistical aberration. Posted by: Margarita DeVille at February 16, 2016 10:48 AM (T/5A0) 341

I regard Trump as a moderate (an actual moderate, not a liberal like Ryan posing as a conservative) who can likely be relied upon to attempt to enforce immigration law as currently exists and is likely reliable on other issues like global warming and probably jobs. He's not perfect, but I feel like he's the best shot we've had for policy reform in a long time who can actually get elected.
And if he turns out to be a liberal, well... the big alternatives to him are Jeb and Rubio and it's not like he can get much worse than them, anyway. So I'm willing to roll the dice with Trump. You just have to love the Duke of Wellington:
"Gentlemen, Whilst marching from Portugal to a position which commands the approach to Madrid and the French forces, my officers have been diligently complying with your requests which have been sent by H.M. ship from London to Lisbon and thence by dispatch to our headquarters. We have enumerated our saddles, bridles, tents and tent poles, and all manner of sundry items for which His Majesty's Government holds me accountable. I have dispatched reports on the character, wit, and spleen of every officer. Each item and every farthing has been accounted for, with two regrettable exceptions for which I beg your indulgence. Unfortunately the sum of one shilling and ninepence remains unaccounted for in one infantry battalion's petty cash and there has been a hideous confusion as the the number of jars of raspberry jam issued to one cavalry regiment during a sandstorm in western Spain. This reprehensible carelessness may be related to the pressure of circumstance, since we are war with France, a fact which may come as a bit of a surprise to you gentlemen in Whitehall. This brings me to my present purpose, which is to request elucidation of my instructions from His Majesty's Government so that I may better understand why I am dragging an army over these barren plains. I construe that perforce it must be one of two alternative duties, as given below. I shall pursue either one with the best of my ability, but I cannot do both: 1. To train an army of uniformed British clerks in Spain for the benefit of the accountants and copy-boys in London or perchance. 2. To see to it that the forces of Napoleon are driven out of Spain. 367 This is the first year in a long, long time that the Mets are going into the season as a favorite to go deep into the post season. There young pitching is down right scary and we look like we can put up some runs this year without having to wait until August to do it.

Which of those issues were passed by conservatives? None. ============ I didn't say "And what has this "conservative" party done to pass that?" I said, "And what has this "conservative" party done to STOP that?" Point being, they've talked and talked and promised and promised they really, really mean it this time and are really, really, really going to stop the Democrats right after the election. For. 30. Fucking. Years. And for 30 years, each and every policy the Democrats have wanted, they have gotten. Name me one, single conservative policy that has passed at the federal level--and survived--in the last 30 years. One. 339--- I agree that Cruz has weaknesses as a candidate in the general. They ALL do and we know the MSM will be in high gear to exploit them.
But who has fewer weaknesses? Rubio can also be portrayed as a pro-life freak ---and as a Bush-policy warmonger. Bush is yuck. Carson is asleep. Is Kasich the most electable?!? Yikes. Trump, IMO, is dead in the water, as far as the general is concerned. His supposed teflon coating pertains only to his greatest fans, which comprise at most 15-20% of the electorate. Trump is already facing the MSM and even FOX and the RNC. And he has basically taken on Hillary and Bill with the take down on Bill's misogynist (and worse) history. He has the national "gravitas" to make an impact, even if it doesn't have the presidential sheen some prefer.
Cruz is trying to follow the boorish Trump bulldozer and pick up offended voters as the alternate agent of change. But he has no executive experience and is a young freshman senator. The MSM death star has not focused its fully operational powers on Ted yet, and certainly love him going Big Jesus, "I'll make all abortion illegal". Trump versus Hillary polling will improve greatly once all RINO and evangelicals are less anti-Trump, should he win the primary. Plus Trump will focus his own large caliber guns on Hillary, not Republicans. Cruz maybe could win, but guys like Giuliani think it is much easier for Trump, and that Trump would be more effective in office. Running the evangelical Cruz has much more risk as I see it, and even if Cruz wins does he keep winning on borders and trade? He was not so strong on either, but certainly the best #2. But sure, Trump has some risk as well. It is simply risk/reward evaluation, with high stakes. Posted by: Illiniwek at February 16, 2016 11:06 AM (5Gpe2) 434

1) I don't agree that it is all the base (pro-tip, we are only a part of the base, the establishment is also part of the base whether we like it or not) B) So what if it was? This is what a participatory democracy is supposed to look like. Do we just elect people and then hibernate for 4 year? Shit, we never stop talking about this. Not ever. Or as Uncle Milt used to say: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MEVI3bmN8TI This is our job. To make it profitable for politicians to do the right thing. I only slightly modify his statement in that I think it is a hell of a lot easier to do this when you elect people who are least somewhat sympathetic to your views in the first place. I don't think Trump is remotely controllable. He will do what he wants to do and that changes like the wind. Cruz, on the other hand, has been a reliable conservative and if he strays I think it would be easier to get him back in line. Posted by: JackStraw at February 16, 2016 11:08 AM (/tuJf) 444
