Other than the fact the bill will never pass, I'd rather see a bill (or even better, an EO jammed down the bastards' throats) requiring every nickelfucking deviant in congress to be subject to the same laws US citizens are, with triple penalties for violations. Government as master and citizen as serf (or, in Scankles' quaint terminology, renters) is a pernicious attitude that needs to be stamped into the ground.

Budweiser is getting hammered for not only that commercial but also for having the iconic Clydesdales in 5 sec of another ad.

I can tell you this for certain. The SJW liberals that are now employed in the advertising agencies can go take a flying leap. They have no sense of humor, no understanding of the rest of America at all.

The commercials last night, without fail, were pathetic. The only non football Super Bowl event that was well done last night was Lady Gaga's rendition of the national anthem , which was superb.

I have. I went to the Van Gogh museum in Amsterdam a couple years ago. And some of his stuff is amazing and I get the whole brush strokes thing but the one up top just looks like an amateur to me.

But then I can't draw a stick figure so not exactly my wheelhouse.

If you ever see a Van Gogh in person, the impression is much different. The way the paint is textured on the surface, the way the light hits the paint. Some of his paintings look very primitive (in a print or on the internet) but in person are strikingly beautiful.

Van Gogh is probably the worst painter to see his works as a print or on the internet. In 2-D they do look very primitive.

That's not far off. One or two is a bit short, but maybe five.

Detroit products rusted out, engine mechanicals wore out (common back in the day to require valve jobs at 50K, and 100K was considered a good life for an engine), etc.

For Detroit the 1970s was the worst. Wrong products, horrible labor relations, trying to do smog controls on the cheap, etc. The days of the 1 year/12K warranty.

Modern products are much more carefully assembled, the engines and electricals and transmissions and etc. are generally more reliable and MUCH longer-lasting. The problem of course is that they're also VASTLY more complex, which means it's basically impossible to troubleshoot most recent cars without manufacturer-specific diagnostic software (either good third-party or pirated OEM) and if you plan to own one for 10+ years you'd better be buying from a manufacturer with a good track record of parts availability (ergo stay the F away from Ford.)

As long as you only smoke the salt, and at the end it's still just salt, there shouldn't be any reason it wouldn't be kosher.

Kosher salt itself actually has no special properties that make it kosher, the labels on the boxes are actually just a worn-down nub of what it really is: koshering salt. Jews are forbidden to consume blood, so part of the process of making kosher meat is washing it, salting it to draw out the blood, and washing it some more to get rid of the salt and blood. Kosher(ing) salt is ideal for this because of the large grains.

I wish I had realized how important these guys were on that trip, but I was just a kid. The person who would eventual become my FIL was a GM supplier and belonged to a yacht club north of Detroit, along with Kennard, who either ran or was about to run Cadillac at that time.

The club had a fishing charter guy who took 6 out at a time. I can handle moving in a boat, but not sitting still bobbing around, so it wasn't a great trip for me.

And part of that is by design as well. A good example is airbags that deploy. To replace two airbags can cost $5K. So you have a 7 year old car that's perfectly fine and could last another 7 years and 100K. But it's only worth $8K. So it's simply not worth spending $5K on a car that's worth $8K. So the insurance company says write off and off to the junk yard it goes.

In a way that's no different than designing the car to completely break down after 7 years.

A few years back, the sunroof on my Jeep Grand Cherokee broke. Well the cable on one side that pulled the window back into it's closed position broke.

But in order to replace the cable (which couldn't have cost more than a buck or two) you had to take out the headliner. Cost to fix the sunroof was over $700.

Our Nissan van, which has been in the shop over the weekend, apparently had a loose spark plug or something. (Will know more for sure when our mechanic gets it back to us.) It's a 2004 and seems to keep going like an energizer bunny. However, the mechanic has to take half the engine apart just to get at the spark plug.

It's an easy fallacy to fall into that old cars (or anything else) you see still running were built better, but in reality it's because their owners spent more money on them to keep them going. So who's fault is this? And who should pay for a new water system for Flint?

Meanwhile Puerto Rico needs a bailout. There's an argument that letting PR default will roil the market for US debt and thus cost us more in increased interest rates than anything we'd have to contribute to its bailout. Easy fix is for the US to just guaranty PR's outstanding debt. Such an easy fix, no?

Of course this sets a precedent for future Blue State / Blue City bailouts, of which there will be sure to be many.

you are not pointing out Cruz "problems"; you are lying. At the point Cruz consulted with Bush 43, Bush was not for amnesty (or at least wasn't talking about amnesty). Cruz did not "work on legalization" for Bush.
