28 Such a neonic green field is incompatible with dark roiling skies. Discordant in the extreme. The only way this could have occurred is the dark skies were painted first and then moved off to allow the imaging of a bright field basking in sunshine.
Splotchy painting is fast enough to capture reality. Up your game, Vinny.

With regards to the sideboard notice about the GOP bill to slash congressroach salaries until the budget is balanced -

Other than the fact the bill will never pass, I'd rather see a bill (or even better, an EO jammed down the bastards' throats) requiring every nickelfucking deviant in congress to be subject to the same laws US citizens are, with triple penalties for violations. Government as master and citizen as serf (or, in Scankles' quaint terminology, renters) is a pernicious attitude that needs to be stamped into the ground.

And Marco the Rube sure as hell isn't the man to do that.

This was probably discussed in the ONT, but who decided that we all needed to be lectured last night by most of the major advertisers about everything from drunk driving to brushing our teeth, etc.
Budweiser is getting hammered for not only that commercial but also for having the iconic Clydesdales in 5 sec of another ad.

I can tell you this for certain. The SJW liberals that are now employed in the advertising agencies can go take a flying leap. They have no sense of humor, no understanding of the rest of America at all.

The commercials last night, without fail, were pathetic. The only non football Super Bowl event that was well done last night was Lady Gaga's rendition of the national anthem , which was superb.

They weren't designed to crap out every year or two so you'd have to go buy a new one. I believe he called it "churn".

They were pieces of shit. This isn't some top secret. GM designed their cars so that you would buy a new one every few years. They came up with the term planned obsolescence. That's also why there were such radical designs in the body so often. Again, so that your 195X car would look way out of date in 195X+2.

If you ever see a Van Gogh in person, the impression is much different. The way the paint is textured on the surface, the way the light hits the paint. Some of his paintings look very primitive (in a print or on the internet) but in person are strikingly beautiful.

Van Gogh is probably the worst painter to see his works as a print or on the internet. In 2-D they do look very primitive.

My Twitter feed was clogged up with 'way too many people talking about the Super Bowl as a "White Privilege" phenomenon, including Newton in the days running up to the game. Race had nothing to do with the game; it wasn't black-versus-white or any other such racial contest. If you disagree, ask Super Bowl MVP Von Miller what he thinks.

The halftime show, a nonstop paean to Black Lives Matter and the other "Panthers," was a racist display that needs to never be repeated. I hope next year the Super Bowl organizers hire Nickelback and Creed to perform. Everyone agree they're awful, and we can be unified across ethnic lines on that point.

117 #93 Yes, that is so true about Van Gogh. Saw his work this past summer at the Art Institute of Chicago. It's meant to be viewed from several different distances. Unfortunately, the mobs was busy viewing the treasures on display through the lens of their smart phones or gigantic cameras with enormous lens. It was the dumbest thing I have ever seen. If you want photos of the art, buy a book in the gift shop, your smart phone and yes, even, your big fat camera are not going to do it for you, the way professionally shot images will. USE YOUR EYES when you are in front of a treasure!

That's not far off. One or two is a bit short, but maybe five.

Detroit products rusted out, engine mechanicals wore out (common back in the day to require valve jobs at 50K, and 100K was considered a good life for an engine), etc.

For Detroit the 1970s was the worst. Wrong products, horrible labor relations, trying to do smog controls on the cheap, etc. The days of the 1 year/12K warranty.

Modern products are much more carefully assembled, the engines and electricals and transmissions and etc. are generally more reliable and MUCH longer-lasting. The problem of course is that they're also VASTLY more complex, which means it's basically impossible to troubleshoot most recent cars without manufacturer-specific diagnostic software (either good third-party or pirated OEM) and if you plan to own one for 10+ years you'd better be buying from a manufacturer with a good track record of parts availability (ergo stay the F away from Ford.)

As long as you only smoke the salt, and at the end it's still just salt, there shouldn't be any reason it wouldn't be kosher.

Kosher salt itself actually has no special properties that make it kosher, the labels on the boxes are actually just a worn-down nub of what it really is: koshering salt. Jews are forbidden to consume blood, so part of the process of making kosher meat is washing it, salting it to draw out the blood, and washing it some more to get rid of the salt and blood. Kosher(ing) salt is ideal for this because of the large grains.

How many people suffer the mental paralysis of fear, self-doubt, inferiority, and inadequacy! Dark thoughts blind them to the possible outcomes which the mind is well able to produce. The club had a fishing charter guy who took 6 out at a time. I can handle moving in a boat, but not sitting still bobbing around, so it wasn't a great trip for me.

196 Modern products are much more carefully assembled, the engines and electricals and transmissions and etc. are generally more reliable and MUCH longer-lasting.

Posted by: JEM at February 08, 2016 01:20 PM (o+SC1)

_____

And part of that is by design as well. A good example is airbags that deploy. To replace two airbags can cost $5K. So you have a 7 year old car that's perfectly fine and could last another 7 years and 100K. But it's only worth $8K. So it's simply not worth spending $5K on a car that's worth $8K. So the insurance company says write off and off to the junk yard it goes.

In a way that's no different than designing the car to completely break down after 7 years.

I saw way too much " I got this in the bag, so easy, etc. " in Cam before the game and doing warm ups. The Superman shirt he wore in the early warm ups said a lot about his opinion of himself. The Broncos decided to explain it differently.

That's because every 60s car still on the road has modern parts in it. It's an easy fallacy to fall into that old cars (or anything else) you see still running were built better, but in reality it's because their owners spent more money on them to keep them going. There's literally no 50s or 60s car that wouldn't vaporize on contact with road salt; ones that still exist either were unusually well maintained or have had body panels replaced.

254 Developing ....

Flint is becoming a flashpoint in national politics. The Democrats will hold a Presidential debate there in early March. You can imagine the rhetoric already.

Hopefully the true story gets developed before then. Flint has been worse off than Detroit for some time, but has resisted municipal bankruptcy because of its unwillingness to make any cuts to its public sector retiree benefits. Flint had been buying its water from Detroit, of all places, which had jacked the rates because of its own problems. To square its budget circle, Flint got the idea to instead source its water from its river, with EPA blessing.. Recently it was learned that this water and/or the pipes from the river are lead-contaminated.

So who's fault is this? And who should pay for a new water system for Flint?

Meanwhile Puerto Rico needs a bailout. There's an argument that letting PR default will roil the market for US debt and thus cost us more in increased interest rates than anything we'd have to contribute to its bailout. Easy fix is for the US to just guaranty PR's outstanding debt. Such an easy fix, no?

Of course this sets a precedent for future Blue State / Blue City bailouts, of which there will be sure to be many.

259 I'm not sure if you're trolling, or if you're dumber than Moo Moo...

Neither. If you're daily driving a 60s car from anywhere on all original parts, either it wasn't driven at all between the manufacture date and about 2 months ago or it's got newer parts in it.

260 Was there a good Bud ad last night I missed? They used to set the standard.

Instead, a lot of winy PC lectures. This wasn't a coincidence. It's the next step in the evolution of The Borg.

261 I muffed that last sentence, should be "or something supernatural is going on".

-------------------------

In the Bush 43 campaign and administration he worked on legalization.

When he got back to Texas he worked with a Latino group (HAPI) on legalization.

His so-called poison pill amendment to the gang of 8 bill was legalization without citizenship.

Its only after Trump got in and went to the far right of him on immigration that he move to further right too.

Nothing wrong with pointing out opposing candidate problems. Heaven knows people point out Trump's problems.

you are not pointing out Cruz "problems"; you are lying. At the point Cruz consulted with Bush 43, Bush was not for amnesty (or at least wasn't talking about amnesty). Cruz did not "work on legalization" for Bush.
