EMT 1/31/16 [krakatoa]

Here comes the Iowa caucuses. First and consequently most influential for no apparent reason.

Looks like after flirting with sanity, Iowa is poised to deliver Trump his first primary victory because Cruz is a Canadian hatey McHaterson or something.

I wish I could get worked up about elections. That would mean I wasn't full on pessimistic about the trajectory of our nation.

But I just can't shake the conviction that once the majority of people discover they can vote that other people's money will be transferred to them, the die is well and truly cast.

We're about to elect either a reality show barker, an out and proud Socialist, or the person who has without a shadow of a doubt broken federal laws, and goes unindicted because: Girl/Clinton/Democrat.

Good and hard, people.

I'm truly loathe to say this, being a Cruzer and all, but IMO Trump could do more to help stem the tide of whatever the fvck trajectory we're currently on. He'd have a greater impact on society than Cruz. Plus the MFM would have a difficult time with him as has already been demonstrated since he'll fight back against them.

I can only hope he and Cruz kiss and make up after the election. I'd like Cruz as VP or AG or even a SCOTUS justice.

The minister is telling the story about Moses being found in the reeds by the princess and her servant and how brave it was to save the baby, despite the law of the land being that it must be drowned. Then the story starts getting turned into a parable about doing the right thing today despite current laws and attitudes. Interested in where this was going I stayed tuned and was expecting, or hoping, about the necessity to stand strong against abortion and/or gay marriage and not cave to evil. My hopes were dashed when, instead, it turned out the rescue of Moses was a lesson to young people to stand up against racism, that of their elders the govt., and society at large. As it turns out you see, Michael Brown's body lying in the son was just like baby Moses in that little basket and we all have a duty to stand together to fight racism.

Can't escape this SJW shit anymore, even on Sunday morning radio sermon. Makes me more convinced that LIB is really the only way out of this mess.

74 I have to say I can't disagree with the establishments strategy to get Rubio the nomination. I think Trump gets very little support from the voters of any of the remaining candidates that drop out except for Cruz voters and I believe those would be split evenly. I don't think Cruz will drop out anytime soon though. I think most of Carsons voters go to Rubio as well as the other fringe candidates. Right now the polls in Iowa show the voting is 72% for anyone not named Trump.

The only way I could get my Cruz nomination is if Trump wasn't in the race.

THIS. Been saying it for a while now. The president, whoever it is will have to do some pretty radical things to deal with it provided he has the minerals to not just use a pen and a phone but a chisel and granite to deal with it.

I really hope and pray that Article V gets rolling, but that process takes far too long and you still need the votes to enact the necessary protective amendments.

G-d help me for saying this, but we may very well need to ignore the Constitution to save the Constitution.

Bernie's problem in Iowa is that there are roughly 1800 precincts, each of which has 1-4 delegates to send to a statewide convention.

Bernie is really strong in the cities and college towns. But Hillary is better liked in rural areas, which may go for her more in sheer numbers.

So, very much like the electoral college, Bernie may well get more popular votes, but lose in delegates.

I only see one person in the race who will not GAF enough to tell the Democrats and RINOs to go fuck themselves on any number of issues. 138 Here's the thing about Trump: He says he'll appoint super-smart people to his cabinet. Well, he just might. He might get a super-smart VP or a super-smart search committee to advise him on picking his team. And who knows? He might actually take their advice, or let them run things like White House Inc. subsidiaries. As much as I like him, I don't think he's all that hot to do the work of the President.

That's what I'm counting on. His team shows him spreadsheets on the subsidies and product of various government agencies, and he decides to cut losses, transfer portfolios to the States, etc.

My pessimistic scenario is that he'll turn into a Schwarzenegger, who started off true to his campaign, then quickly collapsed because the love was elsewhere -- in climate change religion and being nice to people.

Government destroyed my manufacturing career the day that NAFTA went into effect. The company I worked for at the time closed up and moved to Mexico. About 50 of us were laid off just before the holidays in '93. NAFTA went into effect on 1-1-94.

My future and my bank account have never recovered. It was then that I began to pay close attention to politics and the vermin who infest it. Things have gotten much worse since then.

No government should have that much power to eliminate an entire economic sector.

Some people start to complain that they are losing their freedom, but other say, we can still roam almost anywhere, what freedom have we lost?

This is how I picture it. Just the fence slowly reducing our space to roam, our space to be free. Every day the fenced off areas get bigger and closer.

He is energetic, enthusiastic and optimistic. He does love our country and we frankly need a dose of nationalism to stave off the NWO and the Rush to Agenda 21 Tour.

Trump's kids are impressive. They all get up every day and work hard in their organization. They are clean cut, present no garish and visually assaulting tattoos, and speak well. There are NO stories about the kids as there are from Paris Hilton or the other "family", whose name I shall not speak, from which the Bruce Caitlyn thing was engendered.

It says a lot to me, as a very lucky father and grandfather, that Trump's family is intact, close, loving, hard-working, smiling and polished. Isn't that what all of us hope we could accomplish even without the temptations of lots and lots of money?

You know one of the criticism of Trump is that he didn't campaign on a personal level. His campaign is made up of periodic rally's when others are on buses visiting every county. Also it is impressive that his family is intact after three marriages. But having a billion dollars helps facilitate that rather than hinder it.

That said, his personal life is a factor for me as with others unless it's something very out of the ordinary.

Sadly, this may be true. Did you catch the story the other day about the VA manager who'd been suspended because she was caught stealing over $100k from the agency? She filed a suit, and the civil service judge ruled that she had to be re-instated at her former position -- the same one she had used to rip off the taxpayers (and veterans) she was supposed to be working for.

One of the first things that needs to be done is to outlaw public sector unions, completely do away with the current civil service rules -- all of which favor the corrupt, incompetent, and in some cases criminal government employees over taxpayers -- and vastly reduce and size and power of the federal bureaucracy.

I think a lot of it comes in the form of taxes and fees going to support stupid things when I could be doing other things with my money.

I wanted to see a production of Hamlet in London a few years ago and found a Los Angeles-London round ticket for something ridiculous, not even $300. Could have stayed in a cheapie hostel and eaten out of grocery stores, pulled off the whole thing for about $400.

After the airport fees and airline taxes and whatnot, that ticket was over $1000. Of course I didn't go, and everyone I would have supported by flying to London to see that play lost out. My choices were chipped away by people who would rather hire a bloated TSA with million-dollar x-ray machines that don't work plus a massive security apparatus in the UK than enforce sensible immigration policies and do airport security the Israeli way.

The sad reality of fighting the negative narrative coming out of the MSM is that it doesn't matter how many left wing media operations push a certain story line, they are all easily ignored.

Only when someone with credibility on the right chimes in with a similar narrative does the story line get chiseled in stone.

Yes, there are dozens of others who did the same thing as Ace. Some, vying for that all-important guest commentator spot on an MSNBC panel went out of their way to attack her. Others were just worried that they wouldn't be invited to right luncheons or cocktail parties.

I think people are reading way too much into the Trump ( and his mirror image Bernie ) phenomenon. People are pissed off at a system that they think is broken and rigged for those in the political class and they are picking their favorite destroyer.

This place used to a spot where people had vigorous debates about specific policy positions and they would hold politicians accountable for what they said or did over the course of their careers. That isn't the case for Trump. Most of his supporters seem unconcerned about his past, they just like the fact that he is currently giving the finger to the establishment.

Well there's the thing, right? Who are seeing these days? I lot of candidates - very much like Obama - who don't have much in the way of a political history. Cruz and Rubio lead among the professional politicians, and they're FRESHMEN senators. You also have Carson doing well, with no relevant experience, whatsoever.

The criticism I see about Trump is mostly talking about his hair, or he said something vulgar, or MOST COMMONLY simply calling anybody who supports him stupid. They conveniently ignore that Trump has championed a couple of issues that voters are concerned about and that no other politician could or WOULD champion.

As to his past, every conservative knows the old saw about "if you're not a liberal when you're young..." People tend to get more conservative over time. You have clips from when the Stimulus was about to spend $1T, and people are mystified why he would talking up Obama then.

The bottom line, though, is that if we don't finally get the border under control that we are doomed to becoming a Democrat-controlled, socialist, northern version of Cuba with settlements of Muslim jihadis scattered everywhere the way France does. The non-Trump professional politicians actually insult their voters who are concerned about this, so don't be so surprised that they would jump to a guy they don't necessarily even completely trust.

So there is question whether he would actually build the "edifice" he is campaigning on. But Trump has already knocked down a lot of PC walls, which all other candidates at most timidly pointed at. Cruz wanted 5X as many H-1Bs just a few months ago, and a year ago said there was no bigger friend of Legal immigration than him. So it is hard to say he really gets the picture that immigration and anchor babies will end our Republic in short order if not reversed.

Trump said Romney was mean to talk of "self deport" four years ago, but now we have Europe falling and even more open borders. Trump's interviews with O'Reilly and the life of his kids, and those that have been involved with him, make me think he would keep his word more than most. He also knows the nuts and bolts of getting big projects done, whereas Cruz knows DC from the inside, and certainly knows law. We might need Cruz to be Eliot Ness in taking apart the DC Cartel, more than as a senator surrounded by guilty haters.

I still have hope that major elements of corporate America can be brought back to the America First philosophy, and believe most would prefer that, but have been led away by the globalists. They get paid to play the hand dealt, not to salute the flag. But I don't see Cruz winning the Reagan Democrats or others toward the middle. Giuliani feels that way too. Trump is a pragmatic choice aided by celebrity, but is more than celebrity ... and Cruz has no executive experience on which to hang his hat.

But Trump or Cruz ... there is risk either way. The other way is a socialist hell.

1) Reduce/stop the immigration invasion (legal and illegal).

2) Re-negotiate trade deals to put some consideration into what "middle class Americans" interests are - not just the millionaire/billionaire globalists, who want to destroy nation-states and declare true "one world-ism".

But the Establishment/Neocons and their paid for whores in the media and the punditry world won't likely let that happen.

I have held this view as well. Trump is without a doubt the "let it burn" candidate. Who will at least get us SOME things. but I also think he serves a slightly larger purpose and that Is the culture war. the culture war is far more important and trump is an extremely valuable asset in the culture war. I think Reagan was great not because just his policies were conservative but because he created a culture of conservatism being cool and powerful. Well Donald is doing something similar. He is accompanying what I believe to be an insurgent rise against the political correctness and sjw s of the country and he is without a doubt the biggest threat ever facing them. What are our whiny feminist bitches gonna do if we have freaking trump in the White House?? reality is gonna hit hard and fast as they are now forced to weave even larger webs of bullshit to rationalize away the contradictions in their stupid philosophy. Of course Ted Cruz is more conservative. but the bigger threat right now isn't over tax policy, it's over the heart of the nation. We are at war right now. we should worry about getting the structure of the system right after we win it.

248 There is one problem with the old truism about voting to take other people's money, people are greedy enough they want more than what every one else is getting. I think for at least a while there will be enough people, that have something and want to keep it, and have nots that think they can do better on there own, than people who have given up and just want the government to give them what they can get. I think you can also add in the people already on the teat, but don't want too many people sharing the teat with them. If I were a 48 percenter, I wouldn't want to change that to be a 75 presenter.
