With them splitting the delegates the first three are worthless anyway. Iowa and NH have very few delegates and with SC split it leaves if up to the liberal States to pick our loser this time.

Even Cavuto seems to be pumping Rubio, saying Trump and Cruz might argue, and Rubio runs up the middle, whatever the hell that means.
Levin says Trump move is not about FOX and their pro amnesty push, but only that Trump didn't want to be the target when he already has the lead. I'd say it could be both.
And Cruz put out some weird flyer that Iowa officials and Rand Paul were slamming him for. Flyer said government grades their voting or something. Pretty weird, or desperate, or illegal.
Passion is with Trump, ground team with Cruz ... or that seems to be the common wisdom. But could swing ten points either way, if one of those is really right and one wrong. May the best man (for the country) win.

Trumpkins are STILL running against him. His PAC is serving no purpose but knocking down Rubio (Cruz will be next).
It will be a great catharsis when we can get rid of him. For the first time, the GOP will not go with the guy whose turn it is.

You and I had exactly the same initial musings on the You Know Who phenomenon. That he might contribute by making a few central yet inexplicably taboo issues unavoidable for the GOP primaries. Additionally, I was hoping that in doing so, esp. one key issue, his efforts would help doom Yeb! and the other FL guy.
Hard to say whether, in fact, there has been any contribution to the substance of things - certainly it's been incredibly disappointing that immigration lawlessness hasn't been forced into the dominant place it merits - but I wonder if You Know Who has in any case helped stunt or destroy the two FL guys anyway. Through sucking up all the oxygen, and in Yeb!'s case the seemingly effective personal mockery.

The national guard can still be used on the border and not violate posse comitatus as it excludes the guard. In addition a president can order military troops to patrol the border in the event of invasion. You could make a pretty good argument that unfettered illegal immigration is invasion.

The National Guard is under the control of state governors. The Posse Comitatus law is a federal law.
There are exceptions to the Posse Comitatus law for instances of actual disasters or terrorism or whatnot. There is no exception in the law for using the military to enforce domestic immigration law.

I"m not even doing that. I want the wall to be built. I want there to be a robust border patrol. But this is a job for CIVILIAN LAW ENFORCEMENT. It is NOT a military matter. The military should only be used against organized military campaigns, not by random Mexicans wandering across the border. I don't want to blur the lines between what is a civilian law enforcement matter and a military matter. That way only leads to martial law and a military police state.

But the military is (should be) entirely separate from law enforcement. They exist to blow shit up and kill people. Not enforce laws.
We do not want to blur those lines. Ever.

But the argument can be made that the border is a responsibility of the military.

Those legally admitted presented themselves for inspection at the border Customs and Immigration Inspection Station and were granted permission to enter. IF they violate the terms of their admission they are 'out of status' and have a number of avenues do address the situation.
We are talking about people crossing the border without presenting themselves for inspection or getting permission.

I live in an area with a lot of Blue Dog or Reagan Democrats and with only a few exceptions(80 year olds), they are virtually all planning to vote for Trump, with Cruz as #2. All of them.
They know as well as I do , that Trump is not going to be Mr.Super Conservative. That is his appeal, actually. I already know I am voting for someone who is going to do some big things very much in favor of restoring my country into a place of freedom and making it more secure. He is also going to do some things to piss me off. I have to accept that and I am willing to do so in order to begin to turn the ship around.
Trump may use his own pen and phone to reverse some of Obama's EO, but he is more likely to work with Congress to get legislation passed or defeated than Obama. He will begin to whittle away at what great damage has been done by Obama and the Democrats. He is no more going to do a complete reversal on what has happened to this country in four years than Cruz can do. He'll be honest about it, and I believe that he will be able to have negotiating skills that lawyer Cruz does not have.
I will certainly vote for Cruz if he was the nominee, but I can pretty much bet that isn't going to happen. So I'll be thrilled when the Donald nominates him for AG.

Chemjeff, the current immigration law states that if one overstays their visa or is deported for an immigration violation, they are to be deported and depending on the length of their violation, etc. have to wait 3-7 years before they can apply for another visa to reenter.
So , in essence, everyone who is here illegally, can at some point reapply to come back in once they go home. We don't bar anyone from entry, unless they have a criminal record, terrorist connection,etc. to which we would deny a visa.
(As long as we are enforcing the law , which we aren't currently.)
Trump is not creating anything new. He is actually enforcing the laws that are on the books.

Well, needless to say, I'd give fair warning. Put on the Mexican TV and radio that there's a new sherriff in town, and that a shoot-to-kill policy will be in effect as of such-and-such a date. And make it clear that immediate surrender, or flight back into Mexico would not draw fire.
Not all that different from the rules that apply if you are accosted by civilan law enforcement, and resist arrest, right? Or if you are caught trying to infiltrate a military base. In fact, there is the key to make it work. Have the Fed take ownership of a ten-foot strip of land on the border from the Pacific Ocean all the way to the Gulf of Mexico. Make that strip of land a military base, and call it Ft.America. Existing legal crossing points would not be included. That way, any illegal border crossers would be automatically infiltrating a military base, and subject to the laws applicable. And the military would be enforcing the law on their own turf, so Posse Comitatus would not apply.
