SOME OF HILLARY'S ILLEGAL EMAILS DEEMED "TOO DAMAGING" TO NATIONAL SECURITY TO EVER RELEASE"

Huge.

Catherine Herridge, Pamela K. Brown:

The intelligence community has now deemed some of Hillary Clinton's emails "too damaging" to national security to release under any circumstances, according to a U.S. government official close to the ongoing review. A second source, who was not authorized to speak on the record, backed up the finding.

The decision to withhold the documents in full, and not provide even a partial release with redactions, further undercuts claims by the State Department and the Clinton campaign that none of the intelligence in the emails was classified when it hit Clinton's personal server.

This all comes in the context of the State Department failing to meet a judge's orders to disclose these emails in a timely manner, with State also not even saying if they'll be able to release them with a delay.

22 emails are too top secret to release, but not too top secret, I guess, for Hillary's non-secure email system.

The Obama administration confirmed for the first time Friday that Hillary Clinton's unsecured home server contained some of the U.S. government's most closely guarded secrets, censoring 22 emails with material demanding one of the highest levels of classification. The revelation comes just three days before the Iowa presidential nominating caucuses in which Clinton is a candidate.

The State Department will release its next batch of emails from Clinton's time as secretary of state later Friday.

But The Associated Press has learned seven email chains are being withheld in full because they contain information deemed to be "top secret." The 37 pages include messages recently described by a key intelligence official as concerning so-called "special access programs" - a highly restricted subset of classified material that could point to confidential sources or clandestine programs like drone strikes or government eavesdropping.

Team Hillary's spin? "We demand you release these highly classified emails which we also know it's against the law to release."

She wants to pretend that these aren't top secret.

Ongoing interrogation of a State Department spokesman who's trying to play down all of Hillary's illegal top secret emails.

Catherine Herridge is not having this twit's weird claim that while these emails have been confirmed as SAP (higher than top secret) when they hit the server, they weren't "marked" as SAP when they hit the server. He won't say if he accepts this confirmation (for the intelligence services, which certify this information was in fact SAP when Hillary sent it out), and also won't say he disputes it. He just keeps pushing Hillary's line that they weren't "marked" as such.

"Are you saying that you do not accept the sworn declaration of the intelligence community that these emails were classified when they were sent?"

He keeps saying they accept the "upgrade" to top secret, but won't admit that the IC has said they were top secret at the moment they were sent -- that is, they weren't "upgraded" to classified, they always were classified.

He is now being grilled on this "marked" bullshit -- another reporter, a male, is pointing out that it doesn't matter if it's "marked" classified if it is classified.

The spokesman is saying "that process is ongoing" and that it will be answered by some separate process.

Let me once again say that Catherine Herridge is indispensable. She just keeps coming back on this and will not allow him to continue not answering. (But he continues to not answer.)

Let me explain her line of questioning: While the spokesman claims State accepts the "upgrade" to classified status, he refuses to admit this information was already classified. He is insisting that a separate State Department inquiry will figure out if this stuff was in fact already classified, and not just "upgraded" to classified now.

Herridge keeps pointing out that the agency which originated the intelligence gets to make that call -- and they've already made it. Hence, there is no role for the State Department to make some sort of independent investigation; the answer is already in hand. But he won't accept that; as a dilatory and evasive tactic, he's inisting that State be allowed to look into this matter.

Over and over again, she presses him: It has been looked into by the only people authorized to offer a finding on it. Do you accept that?

He keeps saying he'll wait for some other "process" at State to determine this.

He once again says the State Department will review the classification at the time the emails were sent, ignoring the fact they'd already been sworn as classified at that moment by the agency responsible for the information.

Jesus, he just stressed it wasn't "marked" classified. Again.

And again he says it's being "upgraded" to top secret -- he will not concede it was always top secret. They insist on claiming the top secret status is a new thing, or at least, they're unwilling to concede otherwise.

5 Awwww - Bush loses out to Fiorina for the coveted 8th-place spot in the latest Drudge poll! :

WHO IS YOUR REPUBLICAN PICK FOR PRESIDENT?

TRUMP 58.63% (582,435 votes)
CRUZ 20.19% (200,607 votes)
RUBIO 8.25% (81,997 votes)
PAUL 5.48% (54,457 votes)
KASICH 1.63% (16,155 votes)
CARSON 1.54% (15,307 votes)
CHRISTIE 1.31% (12,970 votes)
FIORINA 1.2% (11,905 votes)
BUSH 1.16% (11,537 votes)
HUCKABEE 0.33% (3,285 votes)
SANTORUM 0.28% (2,795 votes)

If Bush climbs out of ninth place and breaks the 1% barrier, will the MSM count that as a "win" for him in Iowa?

29 9- I call bullshit. Every document generated at State has to be given a classification before it can be sent. Every. Freaking. Document. There are also strict guidelines for determining classification-each document has to meet thresholds for the lowest classification-if they aren't met, you immediately put the higher classification on it. It's almost top down classifying, to make sure you don't distribute information improperly.

But obviously, that is just silly talk amongst these people. Just grrrrrrrrr.

"I don't have that information, I'll get back to you"
"I can't pass on that information at this time"
"That is something we cannot discuss for reasons I'm sure you understand"

etc. Basically the press got jack and had to like it. But they kept asking anyway.

"Can you tell us the exact location and composition of our special forces targeting locations in Kuwait?"
"What kind of intelligence operations in detail are you engaged in?"
"Where is the fifth armored division moving to and can you draw it on this map for the Iraqi army to see?"

69 Funny how the worst email news comes out last, on a Fri, days before Iowa. almost seems like they planned it all. Just not sure if the timing is good or bad for Hillary. It is so late, will the news filter down to to Iowans who might be swayed before Feb 1?

70 How much do you want to bet that Hillary wasn't a trendsetter in being fast-and-loose with moving sensitive information from secure to insecure systems at State? That so many FBI agents are involved because they keep uncovering more, and deeper, rot? That the NSA, the service intelligence agencies - all of them - are white-faced with fury right now not just at the HRC crew but everyone in Foggy Bottom?

If I am right look for a wave of retirements from State.

http://www.drudgereport.com/

WHO IS YOUR REPUBLICAN PICK FOR PRESIDENT?

TRUMP 58.63% (582,435 votes)
CRUZ 20.19% (200,607 votes)
RUBIO 8.25% (81,997 votes)
PAUL 5.48% (54,457 votes)
KASICH 1.63% (16,155 votes)
CARSON 1.54% (15,307 votes)
CHRISTIE 1.31% (12,970 votes)
FIORINA 1.2% (11,905 votes)
BUSH 1.16% (11,537 votes)
HUCKABEE 0.33% (3,285 votes)
SANTORUM 0.28% (2,795 votes)

If Bush climbs out of ninth place and breaks the 1% barrier, will the MSM count that as a "win" for him in Iowa?

There are only like 30 delegates from Iowa. Anyone with less than 10% support is likely to get zero or zippo. But he may get some delegates from his buddies in the RNC, like Gov. Braindead.

This. This plus a million. These are the people who sent a woman as Ambassador to Saddam Hussein's Iraq before the first Gulf War, who was known to people of the area as a whore, because she was unmarried and slept around during her first tour in Kuwait, many years before. So Hussein had no respect for her, and the war crashed on in spite of her rather sniveling attempts at negotiation. But State wanted to show they were diverse, and could put women anywhere and have them serve. Nice attitude in the West, but it doesn't freaking work in the Middle East. Unless you know how to work there as a woman. Being a brass balls bitch will NOT get it done.

Argh. Sorry. But I have spent the better part of 25 years with these people. There aren't enough showers to wash the grime away.

I mean, Classified Information lives on SIPRnet, it is not easy to transfer that over to regular emails...

I mean, Hillary has access to SIPRnet, there is no reason for her to need to put it on her own servers...

I mean, come on, you would have to intentionally take the data off Secure Servers and put them in an Unsecure Email system in order to have broken the law in a way that would get her in trouble. There is no way she is that stupid!

Well, I can't believe I was wrong. She was that stupid and evil to have done this. I also can't believe that we are still talking about this instead of just throwing her ass in prison.

1) This election;

2) An Article V Convention;

3) Massive, large-scale civil disobedience including (for instance) widespread refusal to pay income taxes (I do not advocate this, by the way, any Feds reading this comment . . . not at all, merely discussing possible public reactions to continuing lawlessness on the part of those trusted to enforce the law);

But we're starting to run out of non-violent options, I'm afraid.

Yep, the personal server was like money laundering or tax evasion, *a* crime, but not the primary crime; just a tool to cover her tracks on what illegal acts she was really committing.

150 I think the wheels are coming off for Democrats when they thought there were a few more miles on them.

People are pushing a lot harder, and this is coming to the fore a lot sooner than they thought.

Eventually they are going to be exposed as the treacherous, treasonous leches they are and nobody will be in place to prevent that outing.

That's what at stake in this election. It's why any Republican they can't control scares the shit out of them.

"How could you be Secretary of State for four years and never get any e-mails that were marked classified?"

"Why do you keep saying 'marked classified' instead of just 'classified? Is that because they were classified but not marked classified?"

"Is that because someone was taking off the 'classified' markings" before they got sent to your home brew server?

"And who was doing that?"

That's easy -- just claim a bunch more dependents than you actually have. Then they give you most or all of your paycheck. Come April 15, you theoretically then fill in the correct information (and possibly pay a fine for not paying the correct amount of estimated taxes on Jan. 1). But in this tax-protest scenario, you never get to the second step.

173 Yeah, the Clintons have him over a barrel and he has her over a barrel. They are negotiating terms. Of course she's not reasonable. The implied threats of indictment won't be enough to budge her, they will have to threaten the piggy bank CGI and or Chelsea's political future.
Eventually a deal will be made behind the scenes. It willinclude pardons all around, if necessary, and Whitewash for CGI. And Chelsea's political future will remain intact.
On the surface,Hillary's thryorid problem will flare up and she will exit for health reasons. And play the part of apsuedoEleanor Roosevelt, in retirement.

We will get President Biden and VP Fauxcahontas.
In the end, what difference, at this point, will it make?
Sad.

243 "further undercuts claims by the State Department and the Clinton
campaign that none of the intelligence in the emails was classified when
it hit Clinton's personal server."

On _Press The Meat_ the other day, Canquelles insisted that none of the message traffic via her insecure private server had been "marked classified".

What is now universally understood by those who have been paying attention is that this is true, in a carefully parsed, purely technical, lawyerly sense, but only because Her Nibs specifically ordered her underlings to strip off the "classified" headers before forwarding the messages.

Of course, the followup questioning of her on this key point was: zero.

NBC: Nuthin' But Coverups.

Posted by: torquewrench at January 29, 2016 04:16 PM (noWW6)

244 Working hypothesis:

Hillary Clinton used the Clinton Crime Family Foundation to accept bribes from foreign and domestic rent-seekers who had interests before the State Department. She set up a private server not for "convenience" (how "convenient" is it to set up your own email server and domain?) but so she could ensure that the evidence of these dealings would be beyond the reach of auditors and investigators. She didn't give a rat's ass that this would pose a mortal danger to America's security -- it was just what was needed to keep money flowing into her coffer, AMERICA'S INTERESTS BE DAMNED.

You would think this would be the kind of story that, say, an "investigative journalist" might be interested in looking into.

Posted by: Village Idiot's Apprentice at January 29, 2016 04:17 PM (ptqRm)

253 Is this all that difficult? I am assuming the SAP system documents who accessed what information. And the State Department has the e-mail chain that led to the information going to Clinton. I am guessing you have a Venn Diagram with only a few names in it. More than likely, in some cases, one name. The FBI goes to that one name and asks if they wish to cooperate or when it would be convenient for them to report to the nearest federal penitentiary. Then you have a whole lot of people marching into the pen or you have someone willing to document orders from Hillary or her assistants to transcribe the information minus the security warnings.

Posted by: JB1000 at January 29, 2016 04:17 PM (16OL0)

254 This "too damaging to release" situation is the exact same Catch-22 vortex I encountered when covering the Folsom Street Fair and Up Your Alley Fair:

At both events, there were underage children watching public sex acts up close (either at the fair unchaperoned or brought by their amoral pervert-parents). In the first version of my report I posted online, I included photos documenting this fact, with kids' faces blurred out or cropped as the creeps "performed" for the kids.

The gay mafia instantly swung into action and reported ME to the cops for posting "child porn" on the Web, even though what I was doing was exposing THEIR child abuse.

So within hours I took down the photos documenting child sexual abuse, and removed all reference to it from the report, lest the criminals themselves use it as ammunition against me.

In the same way, Hillary's mails are SO taboo that the people exposing her crimes are not even allowed to see them!

So she like the child abusers, are protected from prosecution because their crimes are simply too heinous to even document.

Yeah, that is the key thing here.

People are less moral then they were say 100 years ago, but the difference isn't that significant.

The real difference is that 100 years ago the government only had access to a fraction of the nation's wealth...now it has access to about 40% of it directly, and 100+% indirectly.

It is easier to corrupt a man, or woman, when you give them the opportunity to essentially steal as much money as they want.

Obama's WH press office plays all sorts of games w/press access. When Woodward countered the narrative that the GOP caused the sequester --- his own published book had detailed how the sequester was Obama's idea --- he was publicly attacked by the rest of the press as "crazy", etc. Woodward said he received a call from the WH press office in which he was screamed at for something like 45 minutes over it. Other reporters had let slip that they, too, will get nasty calls if they report something Obama doesn't like, and they are threatened with losing access to WH people (their livelihood) for negative press.

395 rd,
I am afraid that you are right. Thanks to ValJar and her pupil tilting US policy toward Iran, expect the Saudis to call in their marker to Pakistan soon for financing the Islamic Bomb. Subsequently all hell breaks loose when Iran announces exploding a peaceful demonstration bomb over Tel Aviv with the Israelis retaliating. The Russians and Turks might also get involved and so on.

Remember a late 1980's made for TV movie I think where a US Carrier group is nuked in the Persian Gulf by the Iranians. Scott Glenn played the embedded reporter on the ship.

403 I agree, most of the Obama administration's domestic policy has been shaped around real fear that the nation will rise up in armed rebellion if he pushes too hard. Look at his response to everything: an attempt to calm down the rubes and deflect attention away. They want to disarm us, identify us, isolate us, and protect their phony baloney jobs. The only things preventing us from rising up are an innate decency/respect for the rule of law, inertia, relative comfort, and fear of what the cost would be.

Well, you see, "shall" is actually a contraction of "shallow," meaning, well, not very deep. So we see from this construction that the Founders did not mean for this clause to be taken at all seriously. In fact, it is something of an 18th Century practical joke, or pun, if you will.

"not be" is an archaic form of the word "newbie," meaning one who is inexperienced. This simply confirms the jovial nature of this clause.

"Infringed" is a term referring to the very edges of any item. So you see that this was intended to be a peripheral in-joke by the Founders.

The Second Amendment is hereby overturned.

Selective leaks and resignations and turing the harsh light of day on the shit that is going on. It has been done in the past and can still be done..Sometimes it only takes a few pillars to fall to bring down the fuckin building.

Hillary also claimed that It Was Allowed to use her own private unsecured server instead of a secure .gov email account. How come no one is asking just who the phuck Allowed It? Who has that authority? Where is the evidence that It Was Allowed? I can think of one person, and his initials are BHO. Maybe that's why he hasn't thrown her under the bus yet.

The truth is, that for all I find the lack of any kind of social norms of speech or comportment here in 'the states' just smashing, and I like a well-turned carbine as much as the next concealment be-decked deer-stander, I've really had it up to here, quite up to here, with the insistence on all of this border wash. The premise that high tech civs are at greater risk of a cataclysmic event destroy them

And if you look these days, certain events would take us back 2,000 years because our current reliance on tech for knowledge storage and basic provisions and manufacturing.

I've long wondered about the headlong rush to put all our eggs in a very fragile basket.

This stuff with Hillary and her felony email server reminds me of Lanny Davis going out to lie every day on TV.

Maybe I am giving Democrats too much credit but I think that there might be a significant number of Democrats who are unhappy with the idea of telling lies to defend Hillary Clinton for four or eight years the way they did for her husband.

I mean it's not even the Iowa caucus yet and her loyal followers are already having to tell obvious lies with a straight face.

Engaging in electioneering with resources of the State Department, including her own time and significant staff time. Hatch Act violation.

Money laundering via the Clinton Foundation.

Mishandling of highly classified information (absolutely intentional, given her emails, memos reprimanding staff for same, and her own emails to staff on how to circumvent secured communications procedures).

This is not "just some stuff about emails" and "the email scandal" is the shittiest, most misleading moniker for this.

If "our" candidates, and by "our" I mean any patriotic opposition has an ounce of resolve to spare this country a disastrous Presidency, if not the complete breakdown of the rule of law, consent of the governed and to spare this country what may well be the box after the ballot box, they need to put the case in plain, and much more descriptive terms to the people and indict her ass.

575 - The Golden Age Trilogy by John C Wright is pretty mind blowing.
(A lot of people hate him because he converted to Catholic and is super conservative and vocal about it. Not just happy feel good social catholic but catechism catholic). When he wrote the trilogy he was still an atheist. And it won a lot of accolades. Now people hate, even before they read him. Some people think he can do too much dialogue and philosophy but I find it interesting.
Its a challenging read because reality with hyper technology is so different than what you are used to it is actually disorienting. The story changes perspectives as the character's status in societydeclines and with less tech available to augment his reality its more relatable to acontemporary reader. Its all very plausible science as well.

601 Hillary must be playing some game where the marked vs. unmarked distinction is important. Someone told me Media Matters was pushing this same meme. Since David Brock is paid to tell whatever lies Hillary wants told I assume she thinks there is a firewall to be constructed somehow by making this distinction. The State Department parrot was obviously told to emphasize the same thing.

Usually when they are all on the same page like this a deal has been reached and the fix is in. It only remains to be seen who the fall guy is chosen to be. I would not want to be Huma or anyone else who has worked closely with Hillary... (I mean even more so than just for the usual reason that I am not morally bankrupt).

Wright also wrote short story about a fictional bar conversation he had with Harlan Ellison about why earth was never visited by aliens. Harlan knew the answer because well, he's Harlan and knows people who know. And he told John because he was drunk, angry and thought John was an idiot. Completely plausible.
The reason, well, I won't spoil it, but it is excellent and makes a kind of sense that would be bullet proof.

Trump calling Cruz an Anchor Baby is similar to Trump's claim that he could shoot someone in broad daylight on 5th Avenue, and his supporters wouldn't abandon him.

Posted by: Tantor at January 29, 2016 06:35 PM (g0aRc)

615 @601 "Hillary must be playing some game where the marked vs. unmarked distinction is important."

By design the government e-mail system won't let you interact with a home brew server like Hillary's for security purposes. So Hillary needed to have her people "cut and paste" to get around this. When her people forwarded things with "classified" labels they didn't include the label.

So with classic chutzpah Hillary is using as an excuse what might literally be true: Nothing she got or sent was labeled classified.

Hillary and her people were engaged in a purposeful conspiracy to violate many laws here. But as many here have noted, this also ties to Hillary's public corruption as Hillary had to keep the sum of all her e-mails away from prying eyes.

What's not clear to your humble narrator is what's on her server that's been in the FBI's possession since July. Even if Hillary wiped it clean, much or all of it could be recovered.

As part of turning over to State the e-mails that should always have been at State, Hillary had her lawyers review her server to pick the half she said she'd produce, before she said she wiped it clean. The methods used would have resulted in spoiliation charges in a civil litigation, let alone what would happened in a criminal action for tampering with evidence.

We need to go scorched earth here, to make an example, else we're no longer a nation of laws. If I were Trump's AG I'd go after Sid and .... David Kendall, Hillary's lawyer at the fixer firm of Williams & Connolly if the evidence shows that what didn't get produced were e-mails that showed pay-for-play Clinton Cash. I'd go after Bill as a co-conspirator, and Chelsea too. Huma's obviously a target, praise be unto her. Don't forget that a whistleblower has already said that Cheryl was involved in a weekend long mission at State to destroy documents.

As a strategi deal this statutorily required Hillarys sign off as SoS We already know that Bill got a contemporaneous $700k speaking fee from a related Russian bank

631 It's

this condescending tone of blog ownership that insures that "lurkers"

stay in the rafters if they have ANY opposing opinions.

I did not defend Trump. That was your assumption, which was wrong.

First, I don't claim any ownership of this blog (nor did I stay at a Holiday Inn last night) And you don't know the filth that was about to pop out of my keyboard before I reminded myself to be civil and retyped my post.

Second, you very much did defend Trump and you were an apologist for his blatant lies.

632 "22 emails are too top secret to release..."

Seems like 22 reasons for a firing squad.

Nah, that would make it to respectable. She should be hung like a common war criminal.

633 Wait a minute, "too damaging"? Too damaging to whom? To national interest? To national security?

That damage has already been done, the info has already been broadcast "in the clear". Any info is already freely available to any foreign nation and/or hostile actor who wants it. No, more probably it is "too damaging" to Hillary Rodham Clinton, my guess is those "damaging" emails depict a direct quid pro quo of HRC selling her office for donations to the CGI.

How much do you wanna bet?

634 These Hilariously E-lusive E-mails are aiming to keep us all E-ngorged with E-njoyment over the coming months ... or years, which is, let's face it, according to the E-polls, quite a bit more likely.

635 We called it air-gapping or moving classified information to another network system. Air-gapping was illegal then as it is now. NMCI the Navy/Marine Corps Enterprise actually disabled ports which prevented the use of thumbdrives to load or unload information, partly because of the potential to "spill" information into unclassified or lower classified networks. This was on both NIPR (Unclass) and SIPR (Secret), and specific tactical networks established for coalition or bilateral information sharing.

The process is very simple, copy and paste info into a txt or word document, delete markings, save to a thumbdrive or disk, move to another network, open and save...paste to email and send. Hell, there is an email where she directs that a product is "edited" to email if it can't be sent by classified fax. For those who argue she had the ability to declassify information, that was limited only to intelligence and information produced by the Department of State, where she was the Classifying Authority. Information from any other agency required the approval and sanitation by the originator.

The last lie, none of the information is ever classified "later". The very systems and processes, more than the information determines its classification. Source is always more important. No agency looks at a product and suggests that they should increase the classification. To make the information more useful, the intent is to sanitize and fuze it in with other products to build a more complete picture and blur the method the info was collected.

Had I accidentally mishandled classified information, it is likely that I would not hold a clearance, nor would I have been allowed to retire at the lofty heights that I attained in my 30 year Marine Corps career. Had I deliberately conducted myself this way, my 30 year career would have been as Private at the midwest Hilton, Correctional Barracks, Fort Leavenworth.

Rant off...normal lurker...back to your normal smack talking...

637 I'm not sure how Hillary's strange defense... which is why the spokesman refused to acknowledge the truth... she needs some defense in court and that's all she's got.

What that has to do with Cruz and Rubio's status as natural born... well maybe I do, Rubio... no doubt is natural born, why would anyone bring it up unless they are using a subtle xenophobia dog whistle?

But Cruz? That's different. If he were a Democrat, every single person here would say it is a question that needs clarified.

What is the definition?

He was born in Canada for sure, not on a military base, but his mother was an expatriot married to a non-citizen... it is different than any other situation we have yet faced.

Pretending it isn't an issue, does the same thing Hillary is doing... there are probably people that fully believe that Hillary did not break any laws, that the system is treating her unfairly, that of course a person of Hillary's power and position can do whatever they want, they can't be charged...

The rationalization of Cruz's natural born status and Hillary's email is close to the same motive for rationalizing real issues we wish would go away.

Of course Cruz is a natural born citizen, because in his mind he is. I don't think that is the criteria.

I don't know the legalities... but the General election is too important to risk disqualifying our candidate because of a legal ruling after the nomination.

Get the issue settled! He should have done that first thing!!! It's very arrogant that he didn't.

638 See BS tonight, which I almost never watch, described the Naked Emails as "CLINTON'S PRIVATE EMAILS," which makes them sound like they're her little messages about going to the mall or something.

Lyin' sacks of fertilizer. I changed the station to the Donna Reed Show.

639 I'm still waiting for someone to ask the question, what is the duty of a classification officer in the State Department when they see obviously secret documents misclassified and mishandled on open systems. The press secretary can't duck that. It's established policy and likely a sensible one stating that you upgrade the classification as soon as you see it and get it off nonsecure systems. If the press secretary doesn't say that, we have a scandal that takes down not only Clinton but Kerry. If the press secretary does give a straightforward explanation of policy, then the followup is just verifying Secretary Clinton's status as a classification officer and we're done. 2+2=4 even for low information voters.

Secretary Clinton was the US State Department's top classification officer, designated by executive order from President Obama.
