I really think they are the worst at presenting the debates. And their "moderators" and their "we're just treating this like our usual tv show interview" questions aren't that much better than the shithead liberals on the other networks.

Nothing jumped out to me as standing out too much. Cruz positioned himself as being the front runner and then played not to lose the rest of the night. Everybody just seemed ok, and I don't think anyone fell on their face, except Carson who seemed surprised when he was asked a question.

The entire debate idea is pretty much outdated at this point. At least as a televised event moderated by journalists.
I do not know if the alternaTrump event is what will eventually replace it, but I think its clear something has to. Maybe preserve some of it through a bloggingheads type televised Skype event, but otherwise get out of it altogether. Again, not so much because biased but because old and crusty.

The best format I've seen in years was the Rick Warren interviews, where he asked McCain and Obama a series of questions (same ones, separate sittings) and then sat back and let them answer. Cruz was best when he was in command, but he also had smarmy moments and miscued, awkward humor.

Christie is quite a competent debater as long as you know that he was there for 9/11 and wants all of your records to make sure you don't do that to New Jersey again.
Carson knew who or what an Estonia is and that it's in NATO.

What *I* get from all this is that in a mere 2 days, Trump was able to turn on a dime, launch his OWN event, and pull it off, raising money for a good cause along the way. How different is that from what we're used to in politics? How often can anything get done in 2 days? That's why people feel hopeful about Trump; he can actually DO things, he doesn't just endlessly talk about them.

So scumbag FNC had about half the viewers vs last time, 2nd lowest of all debates.
But it's not a fair comparison, because the lowest one was on FBN, which is a relatively new network that is not as widely available. THAT was a record ratings pull for FBN, and was not criticized the way FNC was.
BTW, I figured it would be lower. Trump supporters storming off in protest. Trump-bashers with not Trump to bash. Everybody else just bored.
In general, the FNC debate was inherently "damaged goods". The first job of anybody throwing an event is to make sure the guest of honors actually get there (no just show up). It was like EVERYBODY was at the kiddie table.

So Megyn gets her "strong sexy woman" merit badge and some fame, but we don't find out about Trump's big open door or about his deportation details. Because those are what people praise about Trump, and FOX is an open border Rubio/Jeb support team ... apparently.

I have been saying for months that she will never get indicted for the e-mail business, because she would be tried in either DC or Washington, and there is no way you could find twelve random Washingtonians or New Yorkers who would vote unanimously to convict her of anything. There would be at least one die-hard Democrat who would always vote to acquit and want her autograph after the trial was over. She knows it, and any prosecutor in the US Attorney's office for DC or SDNY knows it. She is unconvictable, hence unindictable.

I expected asinine from both Fox and CNN and it really doesn't matter to me what ass wrote the questions and the specific reason for the bias. It has been clear from the get go that Fox was in the bag for an establishment guy. That was Bush at first and, since he tanked, it has been Rubio. So I expect the debate questions to be biased that way.
The thing is, the eventual Republican candidate is going to have to face that kind of bias from every direction anyway. How he handles this crap and whether he is able to destroy the false narrative and redirect attention to an actual conservative message gives us information to vote on even as the stupid questions do not.

Just knowing the connection isn't enough --- just ask Sharyl Atkisson, whose stories about Obama scandals kept getting killed. That the networks don't tread lightly when there are potential conflicts of interest seems to indicate this is not just OK, but possibly by design; used an an opportunity to get better access to the WH, etc.

He had a good point about demographic change too. In 1970 California was 80% white, now it is 40% white and that's supposed to be just a "natural" occurance", no problem. But imagine if Nigeria went from 80% black to 40% black in the same time period. Everybody would think something unnatural occurred, war, plague, invasion, etc.

My friend and I discussed this yesterday (he leans Democrat, his wife is an art teacher and NEA supporter). I'm "the right wing extremist".
Neither of us can stomach Hillary, and we both believe she's the crookedest politician we've ever seen (I'm 68, he's 71).
Neither of could even conceive of voting for a Socialist.
Both of us think Trump is a phony, because you don't change philosophical positions (abortion, immigration, etc.) at age 68. That's based on years of experience.
Our dilemma would be which would do the greater harm: not voting, or voting for Trump just to negate a Bernie or Hillary vote.

If you're referring to surface rust, you may want to consider breaking it down, cleaning it well and oiling the crap out of it before reassembly.

Wouldn't some of this depend on if they are antiques or modern? I mean if its an antique blackpowder gun, you wouldn't want to ruin its value with a "cleaning" and need to take care in how you do that.

Soap and water in the barrel.
I use Dawn. Finish off with a Crisco coated patch once or twice when the rags come out clean.
Just oil-rag the exterior and stock.
If they are antiques, trying to refinish will further deteriorate the value. If not antiques, I like Tung oil the best for finishes.
NRA called me up wanting money with a panic story regarding registering and background checks for ammunition.
I asked them how the hell that was going to work for an 1853 .36 Navy Colt replica and a from-scratch .50 Pennsylvania caplock.

So pray for my neighbor. He is having nasty neighbor problems.
He and his wife have six kids and they play around the neighborhood as kids do. One of the other neighbor kids(I will call her Snowflake) regularly played with one of my friend's kids, until a few days ago when Snowflake pushed this kid down and hit him or something. My neighbor sent Snowflake home and said she couldn't come over any more.
Well, Snowflake's mother called up Child Protective Services anonymously and sicced some case worker on my neighbor, saying their house is messy and unfit to live in (after a blizzard with no trash collection and six kids snowed in for a week), and said my neighbors are neglectful. Now there's a case worker prowling around trying to catch them and get into the house, talk to the kids, etc etc.
Meanwhile, one of the neighbor's OTHER kids is in the hospital with some kind of blood infection, so they are dealing with both CPS and a rather serious medical thing.
He lawyered up, thank goodness, but I can't cotton to any piece of shit person who would call in CPS as part of some weird neighbor warfare. Christ.

I'm familiar. Blackpowder is water soluble - you can clean with nothing but warm water, though I tend to add some detergent for the heck of it.
If you need to clean out powder, though, you are already in trouble. What kind of guns are they?

Pyrodex is more corrosive than black powder, IIRC. Nasty stuff and less reliable b/c higher ignition temperature.

Simon Black points out that people get pissed about bank fees but in reality there should be a fee assessed for a quality bank, and that a good quality service will sell even with a fee, because you're receiving a benefit that's worth the money to you. Assuming there are competitors that will keep said service-provider honest, of course.
However, that bank would need to actually be a responsible steward of your money and your financial interests. You should have a reasonable expectation you'll receive a fair return on your savings, and that they won't lend your money out and lose it all, and that you can access your money without needing to justify yourself and provide advance notice and have a form documenting your activities submitted to the government. Since none of that holds, those fees piss people off.
Who cares if Trump assesses a carry cost for money he raises for charity? That's acceptable as long as it's justified and not excessive.
Some people have faith in that, and some do not. Until we see further proof of right conduct from the man, both sides are speculating. The Trump backers I can see are honest about that. Are you?

non-scratch (blue) Scotch Brite soaked in run of the mill gun oil for the metal parts. VERY lightly, several times, and when the rust has finally come loose, just use a gun oil soaked rag.
gun oil soaked rag for the wood. For as many times as it takes.
I have 2 shotguns almost exactly like that, but both have a broken hammer. Mine are Damascus twist barrels. Wouldn't consider test firing either one.

I don't see anything terrible there. Murphy's oil soap works to clean up stock - DO NOT USE BOILED LINSEED OIL! - or any other stock finish, for that matter, at least for now.
For the metal a of WD-40 on a rag, or possibly some very fine steel wool with WD-40 to get the surface rust off. Follow with a proper preservative oil.

Last and not least, use boiling hot water to clean your black powder gun barrels--there is a reason that the barrel and nipple are easy to remove from the stock. Make sure to throughly clean the nipple if it is percussion based. The boiling hot water dries much quicker than if you use cold water which can cause rust if all is not removed. Use your favorite protectant afterwards--Boeshield and the like or even a grease such as Rig.
Don't like to keep black powder around as it is explosive. Given that I reload and have other flammables that could be catch fire, eliminating storing black powder is one thing that I can do. As above, I agree that pyrodex is pretty nasty stuff. I use Triple 7 instead and have used White Hots with the new inline stuff. Still have to clean as above but less smoke, less crud buildup, and good accuracy. Going to a commercial range with blackpowder on a busy day is a good way to get kicked out and the cleaning there is field expedient methods.

The old guys used to scrub with soap and water, followed (quickly!) with gun oil.
I'm not a pyrodex user, but they say that just normal cleaning will work with that, as it is claimed to be non-corrosive.
