What If The Refugees Are Not Just Ignorant Savages?
Here's what I think is going on: The refugees are acting as they are, not because they see themselves as charity cases, but because they see themselves as conquerors. They know perfectly well that one doesn't defecate in a pool in which people (especially children) are swimming. They're doing it because they are performing the literal equivalent of the expression "I don't give a shit about you." They know you're not supposed to rape women . . . that is, unless those women are the products of conquest, in which case raping them is one of Mohamed's commandments.
It's almost funny seeing Europeans trying politely to teach their conquerors how not to treat those whom they have conquered. I wonder how long it will take before the Europeans figure out that they're no longer in the driver's seat. And then I wonder whether they'll be able or willing to mount a counter-strike, or whether the twelve-hundred year-long Islamic jihad against Europe will finally have succeeded.

The Cape Colony under Rhodes was liberal for its day. Africans could vote if they met the same property-holding or income requirements as whites. Rhodes might have bent too far to placate the Boers, the Dutch settlers whose support he needed to rule the colony. But at the end of his political career, Rhodes opposed a Boer plan to submit Africans to a literacy test before they could vote. Only after Rhodes left office did the Boers establish apartheid as official policy.When Rhodes created his scholarship in 1902, he included a clause far ahead of its time. His will specifies that no student will be "qualified or disqualified on account of his race or religious opinions."
The first black Rhodes Scholar, Alain Locke, was elected in 1907. Locke's American peers shunned him; some threatened to resign their scholarships in protest. An official history of the scholarship explains why the Rhodes trustees rejected the complaints: "There was plenty of 'color' in the British Empire," they said, and no one "was going to be debarred from a Rhodes scholarship on that ground." Locke became a leading writer and scholar.
Instead of trying to erase Rhodes, Nelson Mandela embraced him. In 2002 the South African statesman posed for a photo in Cape Town beside a portrait of Rhodes. Mandela wagged a finger at him and said: "Cecil, now you and I are going to work together." The Mandela-Rhodes Foundation funds education for Africans. "Combining our name with that of Cecil Rhodes in this initiative is to sign the closing of the circle and the coming together of two strands of our history," Mandela said.

Nevertheless, the discrepancy between the main Anglican churches in Western countries and those in Africa (now the demographic center of the Anglican Communion) is instructive. The Church of England has 44 dioceses with 26 million official members, 1.2 million "realistic" ones. The Episcopal Church in the U.S. has 111 dioceses with 2.4 million official members, 800,000 "realistic" ones. Nigeria and Uganda are the largest churches in Africa, the website does not differentiate between the two categories of members; be this as it may, in Nigeria there are over 100 dioceses with over 17 million members, in Uganda 32 dioceses with over 9 million members. It's clear who has the numbers. Needless to say, the financial resources of the Western churches are much superior to the African ones.
The Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, has been trying hard to avoid an outright schism. A recent event, which he himself caused for this end, has made his task more difficult. The leaders of African Anglicans, along with those in other non-Western countries, have been particularly shocked as the Episcopal Church in the U.S. sequentially consecrated an openly gay bishop, then ordained gay and lesbian priests, and most recently authorized priests to conduct same-sex weddings.
But the new African elites who celebrated the end of the Victorian Raj had been successfully indoctrinated with Victorian morals-and those turned out to be very functional to poor people trying to get out of poverty (if you will, the Max Weber effect), even if the elite (like elites everywhere) only paid lip service to moral principles while enjoying the hedonism supported by the privileges of power. But Anglican bishops are not part of the elites in Africa: When they uphold good Protestant values, in the best Evangelical tradition, this is no mere lip service-they really mean it! And so the Archbishop of Uganda may by 2019 excommunicate the Archbishop of Canterbury!

So, my husband's shop is divided into two segments with ~8 people each. They get along fairly well.....until this weekend.
There was a birthday party for SSgt. M of the other half of the shop that we were invited to. It was a Saturday, I had a lot to do, and my daughter and husband were having fun playing Lego Dimensions, so we didn't go.
Glad we didn't.
The birthday boy, SSgt. M, decided to play "Everclear fairy" to his party participants, and went around, randomly sprinkling Everclear into people's drinks, causing people to get... looser than they normally would.
The SSgts of my husband's shop half decided to go on a long rant session about the other half, which the DDs heard. One of them was the #2 of the other half, and he's now pissed at my husband's shop.
My husband has been trying to smooth things over, but for the love of something holy, please don't be the Everclear fairy.

Having Rheumatoid factor is not conclusive for RA. It's suggestive, but not conclusive. There are other tests now that are much better and any good rheumatologist would know all about 'em.
However, there is still no test that can completely rule it in or out. It's basically the symptoms along with the tests that allow a diagnosis.

The fact that a political candidate is a Christian could have some influence on whether I supported him or not.
Right now, none of our candidates' religious faith is a consideration for me. I guess if they are Christian they may be more inclined to protect religious liberty. But that isn't necessarily the case.
But there's no way I'm voting for a Christian Democrats over a non-christian Republican. Not in this day and age. Perhaps only in extreme circumstances and probably only at the local level.

As for the ankle....... the surgeon wants an appointment to take x-rays of the screw he already said he'd take out if it was "driving me crazy," and it's started to impact my walking, so I want it GONE. Hence the Whipped Cream Vodka and watermelon Fruit Water....

I'm sorry you have RA & I had two aunts, both passed away in 1995, first the youngest of my mother's sisters & within three months the oldest. One had gold shots & was first to die at Mass Eye & Ear Hospital waiting. I don't know exact details because I was on vacation in The Bahamas.
Both my aunts were confined to wheelchairs the last 3-4 years of their lives & that was around time commercial saying "I've fallen & can't get up" was on & it happened to my
Godmother, same aunt & I didn't like jokes about that damn commercial.
My grandmother died before I was born & there were any meds for it & was crippled in bed for 22 years, that's from my mother & several of my cousins that are 9 years younger than my late mother.
I'll ask new dr, if I finally read my note to call, to ask for new test in May.
I do know damage RA does & Gold shots & surprised that they still use drug, Methotrexate for it. It was a chemotherapy drug.

In the old days, it was bad. Actually, I'd likely be in a wheelchair now if I hadn't had my right hip replaced. Both knees are currently shot and I could have any one or both replaced at any time I wanted to pull the trigger.
Methotrexate is standard treatment now. It works, but basically just slows down the damage process. And it is not without it's side effects. The newest drugs are the "biologics", such as Enbrel, which can be really good, but they are very immunosuppressive, and other side effects.
RA and its treatment are complicated things.

There was one time I voiced my concern to the... elders I guess they were, over a sermon where the pastor told us to take out our wallets and star speaking to it, and summon God to put $1000 in it.
I got the bless your heart response for showing my concerns and was never invited to a cell group again.
More recently I tried another church where they were doing a heavy metal worship session with the full lights and smoke effects. I was surprised because the pastor was the son of a more traditional pastor who would have never pandered like that to get young people coming. I expressed my concern again to one of the pastors, who said they cater to a particular culture, but if it didn't suit me he wishes me luck in finding a church more befitting of what I'm looking for, which is Christian-speak for get the fuck outta here.
And one time that was really my fault because I joined a christian singles group and tried flirting with all the women there, many of who already had boyfriends with apparent anger issues.

I think it's from a steroid allergy inhaler I started script in June. Now I've stopped all allergy inhalers for at least a month & taking Benadryl. It doesn't make me tired but it dries out eyes & I cannot keep eyes open.

That is not Christian speak for get the fuck out of here. Its English for "you are welcome to stay but we will not change the service for you." The ways people choose to commune with God and fellow believers are many and varied. Not all church services allow everyone to feel connected. If heavy metal is not for you (and it certainly isn't for me), another type of service likely would be.
In any case, and I am not snarking here, I will pray that you find what you need. I know my own life would be much sadder and shallower without the Lord.

Boraxo is (or was? have not seen it for years) a hand soap made with borax. It was mostly powdered soap, and one would not want to eat it. 20 Mule Team borax, is, IIRC, sodium borate salt, and you could eat that, but I think pharmaceutical-grade boric acid would be the preparation of choice.

It snowed for 36 hours straight here... I measured 20 inches in the back yard. Between myself and son2, we dug my car out and scraped a two foot perimeter on all sides of my car (my neighbors were very covetous of that space after :-)). I kinda figured that, after not showing up Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday or Tuesday, that the city was just not going to plow. Looked at images of both SKS and AK-types on Gunbroker, and neither seem to be a good fit. The slot for the charging handle looked like it was darn near 6" long, much larger than that of either of those two. Judging by the thickness of the magazine, the cartridges had to exceed 2" long.

'Blows Against The Empire' is one of my favorite Starship albums, along with 'Dragon Fly' and 'Spitfire' (I still have a t-shirt for 'Spitfire'; can't wear it, it's too small, but it's resting in the drawer). I also like Airplane's 'Bark', along with Grace Slick's 'Manhole'. Their list of single 'hits' is quite impressive, considering who they were.
Another interesting tidbit: I've heard the song 'Wooden Ships' as recorded by three groups. Two most know, CS&N and Jefferson Airplane, but a group called Ides of March (best known for the song 'Vehicle') also recorded 'Wooden Ships'.

The thing about JA is that they made a lot of country rock songs. In college, they had a wide crossover appeal (yeah, I know, way before your time you young whippersnapper). They also have some quite beautiful and haunting songs, like 'Pretty As You Feel'. JA was quite eclectic, with JS being less so, more power rock (they did write one of the best bar songs ever, for fighting or not, 'Jane'). The whole of JS's 'Dragon Fly' is really good and holds up well. On 'Spitfire', the song 'St. Charles' is also quite good. When Marty Balin was the vocalist instead of Kantner, the songs tended to be better. I will also say, in her youth, Grace Slick could belt it out with the best of them.

There's a DVD called Live at the Family Dog that you should check out if you haven't already. Has some smokin' performances by them, Santana and the Dead.
The biggest name in my collection has to be YES by a country mile.
28 CDs (a couple of them CD/DVD sets)
13 DVDs
And at least a dozen vinyl albums, but those are packed away in a crate somewhere and I don't feel like counting them. Need moar coffee!

Not to get into the C/T wars here, but I will say this. Cruz is a smart guy with all the personality of a wet dishrag. Unfortunately for Cruz, in presidential elections, personality matters. I'd say he has a better shot in one or two presidential election cycles from now. That'd give him time to sound less stiff, preachy and more at ease with himself. But, at the moment, I just don't think enough people will buy what he's selling, even if what he's selling is good.
