As for Trump...he is a master marketer. He has been selling Trump for almost forty years. He is very good at that, and being very good he was able to identify what would animate a lot of voters and move them to him. Illegal immigration and unlimited unvetted migration of Muslims and attacking PC. Those two things allow him to continue on and in the eyes of his supporters they absolve him of many sins.

His detractors have also helped him. First, they didn't address the real reason for his support, arguing that he isn't a conservative, but that wasn't where his support came from. Since he was the only candidate that said "stop the inflow" he alone owned that issue which is where his support comes from.
The second thing his detractors have done is insult Trump's supporters. That has had the predictable effect of making them dig in deeper. Claiming that Trump's supporters also toss around insults is irrelevant - if you want to cut them away from him you (a) cannot insult them because they are angry already, and (b) your preferred candidate has to have some record of addressing illegal immigration that isn't a metaphor for amnesty and addressing PC that isn't another way of saying "go fetal."

At this point I would recommend that Trump's detractors stop addressing his supporters and let their anger diminish, boost their own candidates, and in general wait for the emotional bond to weaken.

Mind, I'm not expecting that, I'm expecting more screeds on how Trump is playing a deep game and all of his supporters are fools and idiots because that is much easier to do on the internet. But I am willing to be surprised.

Support for Republican candidates has not translated into conservative governance-

or even "bargains" and "negotiations" which serve to further conservative agendas or at least severely hamper the progressive/leftist agenda.

In fact, even when we win elections for the GOP, we get the exact opposite of what they promised and ran on.

They lie directly to our faces (Hellooooo Rubio!) over and over and over again.

The GOP and "moderate conservatives" have forgotten that they are elected (as per the American system of governance)-

to be our representatives-

not the representatives of Davos

nor the representatives of "lining my own damn pocket and those of my cronies as fast as I can and fuck the rest of America".

All the conservatives that I've met can base a logical argument on their knowledge of the Constitution and the American system as well as history-

I just had an award issued on a Workers Comp claim where the worker ( who weighed over 300 Lbs) in 2000 stepped in a hole and allegedly sprained his ankle. He continued to work another month until the job was over and he was laid off. He filed his claim at that time alleging multiple injuries as a consequence of stepping in that hole. Bottom line, this award found that WC is responsible for his back , neck , both knees, both ankles , high blood pressure, diabetes and psych.

Everyone involved in allowing that decision needs to die in a fire.

Which is a problem because of the amendment capping the number of representatives . That is one I would definitely want gone in a Convention. At some point they figured out what the ideal number of constituents per congress critter was for a population to be as accurately represented as possible. My perfect world would have that and the congress critters *staying* in their districts and meeting by Skype (or the equivalent).

First, because they put 100 in each group and act like that compares to polling. Nope ... the establishment candidates they show (Rubio and Bush) in their picture they give 33%, but in reality they are 16%. So when they show percentages with degrees it looks like a lot more with degrees support the establishment.

But when the right numbers are used, there are a lot more with degrees supporting Trump. 38% of Trumps 37% means 14% of those with degrees support Trump. 5.5% of those with degrees support Rubio. And 2.5% with degrees support Bush. That looks much different than their graphic which shows most with degrees seem to support Rubio/Bush. LIARS. Trump has double the degreed support of those two oafs combined, yet WSJ makes it look the opposite.

Same with the Cruz+Carson numbers ... the two combined are 27% versus Trump alone being 37%. So they again beef up the contenders, AND combine them to make their percentages look more impressive. Why does the establishment have to lie to protect their pawns?

I think it is more the elite versus the working class.

Trump seems to grab the more traditional values - like the 2nd amendment more. Traditional values and class. I do think he's stealing Democrats. Like him. Old timer Democrats who remember a loyalty to the country and the Constitution - not the leftist freaks of today.

Not entirely. India is a democracy of sorts - or more of one than any majority Muslim country is. And the Brits did manage to ban suttee and the cult of the thugs.

But yeah, in the main, it was a failure. The successful colonies were the ones colonized by Brits who displaced the native populations - us, Canada, NZ and Australia. The other ones went back to their bad old ways once the Brits left. (I haven't heard much about Hong Kong, lately, so I don't know how much leeway the Chinese government gives them.)
