18 I can't be the first to say it, but I think Trump is deliberately sabotaging himself.

I think his deal was to open the discussion on the center (viewed as "extreme" by the leftists) to create an opening for Cruz to appear moderate.

I think he and Cruz are surprised at how much support he's received.

28 This "ground game" thing in Iowa supposedly gives Cruz a seven point advantage. The Trump "new voters" have apparently not shown up as newly registered voters. On the other hand some say Trump actually polls low because people might be timid about expressing Trump Love, what with all the Trump Hate around.

so toss up sounds right ... but then what for Cruz? He needs a big win to launch a revival in the next states.

31 Trump happened because of the manifold failures of Repumpkins to fight against the radical, far-left-kook Left.

One need merely look around to see the results: empty stores, millions out of work, an ever-increasing debt that we will eventually default on, reduced buying power, a lack of careers, the rule of law and due process ignored, whole societies destroyed from within by multiculturalism, the hoax of man-made climate change, Iran with nukes, the list is seemingly endless.

40 And another goddamned thing...

We should have realized after the last crash when the people who caused the crash and almost universally lost their asses, along with the assets of millions of Americans, were made whole by the generosity of all of us through our elected representatives, and while not a single one of them paid not a cent for their breathtaking fraud, that we live in an oligarchy.

When Hillary skates on her massively illegal and enormously traitorous mishandling of classified information that put lives and the security of this country at risk - THAT should put the exclamation point on the fact that our government exists of, by and for the benefit of a select few - and YOU aren't one of them.

The conservative - I would say the constitutional - wing of the Republican party is to the Republican party what blacks are to the Democrat party - a reliable vote that can be taken for granted and just as soon dismissed, once their votes have been cast. Actually, they are, even more stupid (not meant to be racist) than the block of the black electorate in that the constitutional wing of the Republican party votes the way they do for nothing - for empty promises and platitudes. At least the black voting block of the Democrat party demands - and gets - free shit. We get humiliated. Perpetually.

Posted by: Insomniac - Pale Horse/Death 2016 at January 26, 2016 10:12 AM (kpqmD)

49 For a member of the elite, Mr. Barone explained it very well.

As for Trump...he is a master marketer. He has been selling Trump for almost forty years. He is very good at that, and being very good he was able to identify what would animate a lot of voters and move them to him. Illegal immigration and unlimited unvetted migration of Muslims and attacking PC. Those two things allow him to continue on and in the eyes of his supporters they absolve him of many sins.

His detractors have also helped him. First, they didn't address the real reason for his support, arguing that he isn't a conservative, but that wasn't where his support came from. Since he was the only candidate that said "stop the inflow" he alone owned that issue which is where his support comes from.
The second thing his detractors have done is insult Trump's supporters. That has had the predictable effect of making them dig in deeper. Claiming that Trump's supporters also toss around insults is irrelevant - if you want to cut them away from him you (a) cannot insult them because they are angry already, and (b) your preferred candidate has to have some record of addressing illegal immigration that isn't a metaphor for amnesty and addressing PC that isn't another way of saying "go fetal."

At this point I would recommend that Trump's detractors stop addressing his supporters and let their anger diminish, boost their own candidates, and in general wait for the emotional bond to weaken.

Mind, I'm not expecting that, I'm expecting more screeds on how Trump is playing a deep game and all of his supporters are fools and idiots because that is much easier to do on the internet. But I am willing to be surprised.

Yup. That article is a big bag of leftard thinking

This isn't rocket science.

Support for Republican candidates has not translated into conservative governance-

or even "bargains" and "negotiations" which serve to further conservative agendas or at least severely hamper the progressive/leftist agenda.

In fact, even when we win elections for the GOP, we get the exact opposite of what they promised and ran on.

They lie directly to our faces (Hellooooo Rubio!) over and over and over again.

The GOP and "moderate conservatives" have forgotten that they are elected (as per the American system of governance)-

to be our representatives-

not the representatives of Davos

nor the representatives of "lining my own damn pocket and those of my cronies as fast as I can and fuck the rest of America".

And as for the anti-intellectual charge...

Pffft.

All the conservatives that I've met can base a logical argument on their knowledge of the Constitution and the American system as well as history-

get a "progressive" in the mix and all you get is anger and invective.

Fuck this guy in particular.

59 The usual suspect keep defending the Muslim refugees by insisting that it is only a small minority that are raping women, masturbating in public, killing people and shitting in the swimming pool.

OK. Let's take them at their word. When Muslim refugees behave in ways that are unacceptable in western society, let's get rid of that tiny minority before they bring shame on the rest of them. Arrest the ones behaving that way, drive them to the holding cell at the airport and when there is enough for an airplane full, fly them to Somalia.

Exactly. They insist they must be the smartest because they're in charge. At the NOAA, EPA, IRS, TSA, DHS, ICE, DOJ, State, and most obnoxiously the White House.

But most of all this is seen in the culture. Ta Nehisi Coates claims the mantle of "leading intellectual" because he is a nyt bestseller, and not the other way around.

Unfortunately for all of us, every time they prostitute a medium, whether it be cable news, the social sciences, any of the hard sciences in the name of climate science, or especially the organs of government, they're not trading on their own reputation. They're trashing the standing of our nation and it's institutions, while their own ideology bears none of the blame - Sanders is proof enough of that.

Eventually they'll have cashed in all of their authority. Who has standing to speak for the nation when that happens?

Why, simply the loudest and most well-known person in the conversation.

76 When I was young, the leaders of this country sent a bunch of us to fight against communism - adolescent socialism. Then, it was an evil ideology. And quite a few young people died, and many more had the bulk of the rest of their lives fucked up because we were told, and we believed, that socialism was an evil, life stealing, poverty inflicting fucked up ideology. A few of us probably still feel that way about socialism.

But now, people believe that socialism is just a pretty cool, totally sustainable, absolutely benign, life enhancing pile of free shit and skittles.

As it is, they are both hostile *and* taking resources beyond the carrying capacity of those nations and something will have to give (and it's guaranteed to be violent since that's what the "migrants" want).

They were also scripted by the Clinton campaign.

Trump, Cruz, and Rubio should be hitting on this whenever in front of a CNN camera, saying they want the same treatment as was given Clinton. The should refuse to answer any question by CNN unless they themselves have given it to CNN to then be asked.

"No, no, no, no. I won't answer that. I insist on the treatment you give my opponent Ms Clinton. I give you the question, then you ask me. This way, you only ask me questions I have pre-approved. I realize this is just a Michenerian level of argument, but in the early days of the actual, honest to God, World Zionist movement, there were negotiations with the British government to move the world's Jews to a spot right next to Somalia. Zionist Jews were all for it. And had that happened, Somalia would today be a flower in the desert that people would pay to go and see. And somebody else would be the "Palestinians."

You could deport the current refugee crop to Eden, or the Fertile Crescent, and they'd make a desert of it. They already have.

146 Every time I have to deal with one of my California claims I wonder how that state still exists and how any conservative could live there. I just had an award issued on a Workers Comp claim where the worker ( who weighed over 300 Lbs) in 2000 stepped in a hole and allegedly sprained his ankle. He continued to work another month until the job was over and he was laid off. He filed his claim at that time alleging multiple injuries as a consequence of stepping in that hole. Bottom line, this award found that WC is responsible for his back , neck , both knees, both ankles , high blood pressure, diabetes and psych.

Everyone involved in allowing that decision needs to die in a fire.

I am intrigued by the idea of an upcoming Tet Offensive type attack with multiple attacks all over Europe at the same time. As I recall it, Tet failed in Vietnam, most of the Vietcong were annihilated, but it succeeded in America where Walter Cronkite announced that we had lost the war. I'm not sure that sort of dynamic would play out in Europe. If the Muslims in Europe are annihilated, that would seem to pretty much settle the issue, regardless of what the media say unless the Euroelite import a whole new crop of Muslims.

===========
You know, you could look at it that way.

If you assumed the GOP was in any way interested in stopping the leftists.

But, when you look at the big picture--what actual, real, concrete achievements have advanced the cause of liberty, freedom and personal choice in the last 20 years have been brought to you by the national Republican party?

The answer is: NONE.

They haven't done ONE FUCKING THING to stop the Democrats in 20 years or more.

Not one damned thing.

And today--20 years down the road--we are so far gone that, if I'd put you in a time machine and sent you back to 1996, and you tried to campaign against what the Democrats were going to have in place in 2016, the majority of the country would be calling for you to be locked up in the crazy house.

Imagine, circa 1996, either Pat Buchanan, Bob Dole and Steve Forbes:
"We must stop these Democrats here and now. If we don't, this is what will happen:
They will force gay marriage on the entire nation
They will force you to buy health insurance while destroying your current plan
They will use the IRS to shut down conservative groups
They will use every other agency of the federal government to go after conservative groups

231 The WSJ "how Trump happened is dishonest.

First, because they put 100 in each group and act like that compares to polling. Nope ... the establishment candidates they show (Rubio and Bush) in their picture they give 33%, but in reality they are 16%. So when they show percentages with degrees it looks like a lot more with degrees support the establishment.

But when the right numbers are used, there are a lot more with degrees supporting Trump. 38% of Trumps 37% means 14% of those with degrees support Trump. 5.5% of those with degrees support Rubio. And 2.5% with degrees support Bush. That looks much different than their graphic which shows most with degrees seem to support Rubio/Bush. LIARS. Trump has double the degreed support of those two oafs combined, yet WSJ makes it look the opposite.

Same with the Cruz+Carson numbers ... the two combined are 27% versus Trump alone being 37%. So they again beef up the contenders, AND combine them to make their percentages look more impressive. Why does the establishment have to lie to protect their pawns?

"German public health officials are now on the lookout for Crimean Congo hemorrhagic fever, diphtheria, Ebola, hepatitis, HIV/AIDS, malaria, measles, meningitis, mumps, polio, scabies, tetanus, tuberculosis, typhus and whooping cough. As refugee shelters fill to overflowing, doctors are also on high alert for mass outbreaks of influenza and Norovirus", says the report.

Trump seems to grab the more traditional values - like the 2nd amendment more. Traditional values and class. I do think he's stealing Democrats. Like him. Old timer Democrats who remember a loyalty to the country and the Constitution - not the leftist freaks of today.

But, Cruz seems to balance just about every demographic more evenly than Trump, or they are very close to each other.

Not entirely. India is a democracy of sorts - or more of one than any majority Muslim country is. And the Brits did manage to ban suttee and the cult of the thugs.

But yeah, in the main, it was a failure. The successful colonies were the ones colonized by Brits who displaced the native populations - us, Canada, NZ and Australia. The other ones went back to their bad old ways once the Brits left. (I haven't heard much about Hong Kong, lately, so I don't know how much leeway the Chinese government gives them.)

280 "Nice guys always finish last."

that may be true to a degree ... but Obama's brother wished the Brits had stayed longer in Kenya, to make it more developed, like S Africa. Instead it returned to warring.

We lost S Africa to the commies (Mandela was one) and warlords. Even those supporting reform to Apartheid (the white ones) now have to flee. Many more died under Mandela's wars than Apartheid ever killed, but the apparent racism was not acceptable to the west, so we lost.

Japan we remade in our image to some degree, and they still do well, though fully segregated and "racist" by western standards. Israel, is that a western success story?

Not all nations are worse off for being touched by western economics, but it establishes a power base which is often one sided (the Saudis). Still, the idea that the savages were previously noble is wrong. We often bring improvements, as I see it. But too often we leave and commies come (Vietnam, Iraq?)

The fate of our civilization is certainly a good topic to explore ... I still seek Truth.
